It just needs a way to better handle the shoulderpads for more range of movement and also better QC for his eyes since its a crapshoot if you roll one with good or roll bad with very mis-aligned eye placement.

There's a huge lack of toys from modern robot shows. RD only does 80s stuff and Gundam now and kits are mostly Gundam and Frame Arms. SRW kits are pretty much a dead line with one or two releases a year.

KQ scales really well with the rest of the Part 4 cast; just not so much with other groups. Part 4's cast is well proportioned within itself (except Josuke's small head) compared to Part 3's tiny head syndrome, but Part 5 and 6 (and 2) all have pretty long legs and taller proportions.

Josuke is the exception and not the rule I'd say; well, aside from Koichi and his low articulation. I own pretty much all the major Part 4 characters with SAS figures except Jotaro/SP (which I'll get Monday) and they all hold up a-ok next to other figures thanks to better proportions. Josuke's neck ball and small head stand out among them. Okuyasu and Highway Star Rohan are especially good figures, and The Hand is pretty thick and tall. I like that Rohan's skirt and Kira's suit jacket have some rubber flexibility to them helping with poses.

Medicos often avoids re-using certain colors on variants and makes minor changes to the original color schemes for whatever reason. It's why most figures' 2nd colors have white hair despite it looking like ass and why some figures lack or have more colors than their reference artwork.

Also, repainting SP's loincloth is the easiest shit ever because you can just push out the pin holding his torso together, unscrew his waist and you can take it right off.

Came home late but here. My lightning and White balance isn't perfect but this is pretty close to what I see on-hand.

Joseph 1st is the original release and the shading really shows on the WF body since WF Joseph is much paler/lighter in comparison. WF Joseph's head on Joseph 1st is a little better but the lighter skin paint is still obvious. Now if someone has the reissue Joseph 1st it may be a better match seeing how different shading is now versus back then.

I was a newcomer like you about a year ago and I got shit on for asking questions like that so I'll spare you the shit, everyone's gotta be a newfag some time.
Check the buyfag site the OP posted, it will give you many different sites to buy from. Ebay and Amazon are the most expensive so for SAS Jojo figures I recommend using lesser known sites, such as Mandrake and Jungle. For preorders, always make sure to score the retail prices on amiami and hobby link. If you can set up a proxy, definitely buy from yahoo-japan's auction service, it's easily the cheapest, but most complex, way to score Jojo figures. Another thing is I would strongly recommend buying used figures, SAS figures new in box are crazy expensive, all of mine were pre owned yet all in great condition.
As for the characters, Part 3 figures are the cheapest and easiest to find. All of them look great but have lacking articulation compared to the other parts, plus they're a tad bit shorter than the others (anons often refer to them as "manlets")
Parts 1 figures are pretty expensive but they're arguably some of the best (and the biggest) so you'll be receiving your money's worth.
Part 2 figs are mildly expensive but very high in quality. Part 4 figures are fucking impossible to find for a decent price due to the hype of the new anime, so wait for the hype to die down before buying any of those.
Parts 5 6 and 8 are all great and can be found for decent prices.

Usually AmiAmi has the best prices, but Mandarake has even lower ones because sells used figures only (I bought most of mine from there and as the other guy said all of them were in 10/10 conditions with new figure smell)(see the op to search for them) and if you have the patience to wait shipping can be inexpensive. Don't be afraid to order from abroad, it's better. In time you'll learn to use and appreciate many sites, like Jungle or even Yahoo Japan. I just passed a though exam and I want to reward myself with some new jojees, too bad there's too fucking many I want, perhaps your opinions will help me decide. Pic related is my collection so far + a wheelchair Polnareff that is about to arrive.
The ones I'd like are, from most to least expensive:

For once I was home the same time a package arrived. Josuke 2nd looks amazing, and seeing it in person makes me finally realize why I like his face better than Josuke 1st.

His skin shading is admittedly on the darker side, but his eyes are perfect. Maybe its just minute differences, but I like that his eyelines aren't so thick, especially the eyelashes, on Josuke 2nd compared to my 1st. Making it thinner makes his irises pop a bit more, as does the choice of purple irises.

Can't wait to set up my magenta DiU crew up in a big group shot. I'm tempted to use the three hole pegs from Bruno and an extra I got with my black Rohan for a six peg arrangement, though lord knows how stable that'll be.

Medicos is more likely going to stick to design rather than doing another 2.0 SAS like Star Platinum IV was for articulation.

If they would bother then the best they can do is set-up double jointed arms and legs but still retain that range of movement on the waist and shoulders. I guess they can adopt how the SHF rider's shoulder armor joints and improve the range by a little though I'm not sure if they even care to rework the hip pieces. Medicos's engineering seems to bounce from very average to all around solid if the figure is just a plain body without much clothing sculpt to hinder movement.

Medicos runs a pretty standard idea of articulation for much of their SAS's unfortunately. You see some interesting ideas like King Crimson's torso setup and Killer Queen's removable abs for Stay Cat but it's usually double jointed limbs, toe joints, I think some ankle pivot, ab crunch, those rounded waist pieces that lets you move the leg around, wrist joints and so on.

They only change it up if they can make the character either more posable or integrate the design better for articulation (Part 8 Josuke's movable shirt comes to mind).

Be patient and it'll probably pop back up. JoJo figures in general sell out and restock a lot. I have pretty much all of them listed in my figinstock just because I am curious about stock availability patterns. You would be shocked how often they restock. I personally like the bulk of him but my biggest gripe is the backpack straps have a difficult time really pegging themselves into the pack itself so they come a little loose. Also the hand to grip the sheathe isn't the greatest and needs some adjustment to really hold on to it if you want to display him that way.

If you can get him for a decent price I would recommend him. Articulation is standard but he covers most poses that I want. The only thing I should tell you to be careful of is if you want to display him with the backpack you need to use the extended peg piece which inserts through the bag and into his back. I have a feeling that may be really prone to snapping if you even adjust the figure without taking that peg piece out.

Not really. Going after design isn't a bad reason, I haven't even watched much of Kamen Rider but that renewal Double SHF got me in.

Josuke poses fine and Medicos went the extra inch to make the bottom portion of his shirt move for certain poses. Soft and Wet is the real letdown since they stuck to his design the most and everything about him is pretty restricting beyond what the box shows you and a couple of manga poses he was in. They are generally cheap so you're in for a good time either way beyond Josuke's facesculpt at the time. Medicos should've just waited if they wanted to do Part 8 versus getting him out for Jojolion and I think the anniversary's sake.

Medicos is odd when it comes to choosing colors. Maybe from a business or design standpoint they settled with certain colors beforehand and move on to the next project. Seeing a proper "3rd" version colorway isn't common (WF variants stand on their own so they don't account as "2nd"). I always imagine them having a sort of planning and design phase with various color choices directly from Araki or just "inspired" versions of their own before finalizing the release order of those colors for that single character figure.

The best you can do is nab a spare Joseph if the reissue did anything to increase extras in circulation and find a solid custom service to do the purple you want.

There's no canon colors. The manga is in black and white. The only "canon" colors are cover arts. Colored scans, anime, games and figures do each their own thing that doesn't necessarily have to be connected. When kira was released there was no anime, only the colored scans, which no one gives a fuck about clearly (just look at the game colours for, say, valentine, johnny or anasui). Before the anime, Kira could be any color in the minds of the readers, and that's fucking great, you never know what are you gonna get.

They probably are. Star Platinum 3rd (the cheapest version of Part 3 SP) spiked to 9k from his original 3k asking price on Mandy. I won't be surprised a flood of fans or people introduced to the series by any style of medium heard of Medicos Entertainment and their SAS line and booked it to shops seeing your options are either DiMoltoBene Statues or articulated SAS which covers a wider array of characters.

Got in Kira 2nd today and posed up my Part 4 collection. Some poses could use some work (and if anyone has suggestions for better poses in particular let me know if you'd like), but I'm pretty happy with how the crew looks all together!

Both Kira's are a little stiff looking, Star Platinum needs to wind up his punch so it looks a little more intimidating to match up Jotaro's pose. Adjust Josuke's fist since it looks a little awkward in that angle and I'm not even sure what's going on with The Hand.

Rohan could look a little better also but I can't think up anything on the fly to better accentuate Heaven's Door effect. I could excuse Koichi since I hear he's a little odd to pose around with due to his size.

You have to sort of imagine things in motion and try to make the placement of things look as natural or as dynamic as possible if you want to go down that road. See if certain limbs need to bend a little more or if you need twist the torso or waist to achieve a certain angle or pose.

Thanks for the tips. I put them up pretty quickly and I noticed they all look a bit stiff compared to my Part 5 set, so glad to see my intuition was right. I'm not sure if I should have both Kira's mirrored poses to each other for the sake of symmetry, or just repose them based on manga panels of each character.

The mirror idea is nice if you only have 1 Killer Queen so you can maximize your display. Work on KQ's pose to be the center piece and then develop an idea on Kira's poses for the symmetrical effect.

Yeah, Valentine and D4C were announced a couple of threads back. I'm mostly shocked we will get to see them maybe within a year or two if nothing else backs up the line which makes the villain releases pretty fast this go around. Probably faster if they have unpainted prototypes ready to go.
