I actually have high hopes for this one. They got rid of the shitty writers from before, and from the rumors/ things I've seen in the trailer it does look First transformers tier

Anyone know what the hell is supposed to be going on with the rumored box sets for Titans Return?

I remember someone posting a rumor that the two sets were going to be themed "Strength" and "Speed". Nautica (female Bot from IDW) was going to be exclusive to one of the two sets as would a new Star Saber figure. Also rumors that Flywheel of all fucking Titan Return heads, would be the one who would get a proper body in one of those sets in terms of him being included in one of the sets, with a retooled Bitzwing/Megatron body.

So what are the sets going to include? They are probably going to be our last fucking chance to get Horribull, Siren, Nightbeat, and Squeezeplay getting proper bodies. Of the four, Siren and Nightbeat would be the simplest to do with minimum retooling. Anyone know what to expect?
>>
>>6128491
something involving diecast titanmasters, autobot/decepticon clones, godbomber, quickswitch, "magnus prime", tidal wave
>>
>>6128507
The sets aren't including the second Gen Headmasters, there's a rumor we're getting a Nightbeat deluxe later on, but aside from that, nothing.

Figure are: Magnus Prime/Quickswitch, Autobot clones/Decepticon Clones, Nautica/Iron Apex, Tidal Wave/Star Convoy, and a TM.

No one's sure if the clones will be deluxes or legends.

I'm not sure why we are shock at this Marvel has show that it boost ticket sales just having thise series of everything connected. Both Ant-man and Dr.Strange did better than projected and sold well, and DVD sales of previous Marvel films spike anytime a new film drops. Surveys on the films since 2012 showed people see these films because of it all "connecting" so I'm not surprised everyone wants on this wagon.
>>
>>6128540
or just repaint them from older molds.
>>
>>6128551
Name one successful implementation of that outside of Marvel in the last decade
>>
>>6128547
Apparently, but if that's true, then it's a deluxe. None of the info on it confirmed if it was a new mold or just a retool of another figure (Nautica's apparently a retool of Blurr, Quickswitch is recolor of Sixshot with a new head, and Magnus Prime is was apparently a Diaclone Convoy colored PMOP, Tidal Wave a Broadside recolor with a new head, and Star Convoy's the new TR Voyager Prime with a new head that we know exists).
>>
I think Michael Bay unwittingly invoked the "Final" Fantasy curse with Age of "Extinction" and The "Last" Knight. He's going to be making Transformers films even after he dies.
>>
>>6128551
What other movies this year have a chance of even outgrossing TLK?
>Despicable Meme 3
>Pirates 5
That's it
>>
>>6128554
Anon you can name all that have tried this on one hand. and the fact you said "last decade" means you are being careful and know it has work in the past. The last decade it's been DC universe. Also TF is an established money maker, it might be worth the gamble. Really WB's issue with DC is rooted more in the creative team than the concept, Marvel/Disney has shown you just have to play it safe and you make quite a net profit.
>>
>>6128554
Other than Marvel and DC, what other cinematic universes have there been?
>>
>>6128562
Yes but not every year is like that thus why a stronger marketing brand is needed. You want people to consider your film on the grounds of just because. Dark of the Moon had a lot of competition before and after release.
>>
>>6128554
Despicable Me. Minions tore up sale and we are getting another one after DM3 and a spin off with the kids.
>>
>>6128563
Those were organically created stories that existed in a larger setting and could support themselves, not the marketing buzzword-laden "Cinematic Universe".
>>
>>6128555
TR has been a roller coaster for Prime. Guy's getting 3 toys in the same line (the third one being the TM Prime that's supposedly coming soon), plus the boxset Prime.
>>
>>6128573
I fucking hate Illumination so much
>>
>>6128554
Despicable Me
The Wizarding World(Harry Potter)
Middle-earth
According to how Lego Batman is marketed and with the unnamed 3 other films The Lego Movie universe
Also was the Alien vs. Predator stuff in the last decade?
>>
>>6128586
>3 of these were also adaptations from another media

That must be the secret to success.
>>
>>6128586
Every one of those is shit and you know it.
>>
>>6128577
Call them what you want but like anything popularity and money makes them become the standards. We have had shared universe stuff in films all the way back to the 70s but it was never a selling point, the world has changed and now, just like comics video games and literature, they are seeing the power in cross market branding, where Iron man could make you see a new Spider-man, where a Cap movie could make Avengers just having the Avengers in it. That's all it is.

I should note that we were never supposed to get the second wave/Masterforce Headmasters in the first place.

The original plan, when work on Titan Wars began, was that ALL of the stand-alone heads were going to be all new original characters.

The designer assigned to design the heads was given free reign to create the faces for the new heads. Which led him to create a bunch of off the way, alien and inhuman heads for the stand-alone heads.

Hasbro however, saw the designs and freaked out and vetoed ALL of them. Meanwhile, the rest of the design team prepping the Titan War line independently started to realize that having all of the heads be original characters was not a good idea in so far as a lot of people would just not buy them.

So when Hasbro demanded new designs for the head only figures, the design team said "fuck it" and basically use existing characters, some of which were given new names to get around the loss of trademarks and certain characters (Steeljaw and Grimlock) being used in RiD.....

In particular, they used the second wave Headmasters to launch the head only line because they knew they would sell the most due to character popularity.

On a side note, anyone know what the hell Hasbro is going to do in 2017 now that Botcon is kill?

Assuming Hasbrocon (basically a convention for all Hasbro products sans GI Joe) happens, what kind of exclusives will it have?

I would assume that will be where Hasbro finally gives us G2 Defensor, but could they not also give us something new and different? Like say a new G2 set using the 1984 Autobots that didn't get a G2 release in G2 colors?

Wheeljack, Sunstreaker, Trailblazer, and Hound in G2 colors along with a G2 repaint of IDW Cyclonus?

Movie guys can't really *exact* the balance. We've had glassfaces in the trilogy, people complained so they made it a bit more human for Crosshairs and Hound like in G1 but then they made it TOO human that their bodies don't even look like its part earth-vehicle so now they're going back to TF1's roots which was to do it like Ratchet or Bee because they're the non-Prime faces that worked.

To be fair, only the autobots had human like faces and proportions, I'd like to think in was on purpose, cybertronians were aware of human media, the twins, jazz and ratchet said it clearly, they know humans would be scared if they didn't look a bit like them, maybe the autobots are always hiding their real monster-like faces so the humans accept them easily.

The cheapest (and slowest) shipping for that case is 7.89 knocking that set up to 39.89, after tax that's a 43 dollars making them about 14 each. Also if you are just wanting one of them that 20 is half the cost, not as good a deal but it's piling junk to buy what you don't want.
Also the anon said New Zealand and shipping will fuck you really hard their take that 7.89 and times it by 3.
Also people are not going nuts as it's just the normal market. People forget Wheelie was going for $30 when TR was first starting to leak out. Rumble/frenzy was similar and Soundwave has finally normalized in cost.
It's just how the market works, new harder to find tends to float high with demand.

The problem is that they won't cut back on the glass-shards-and-scrap designs enough to matter. Filling a face design with random bits and pieces looks awful, and if you insist on keeping that look through the humanizing process it just looks Freddy Kruger-esque.

At this point there's no reason not to drop the walking-dumpster aesthetic completely. The aesthetic is moving in that direction already, it's cheaper to animate, it looks better, and it makes the toys easier to sculpt in smaller scales. Everyone would win except for Bay's ego.
>>
>>6128983
>except for Bay's ego
Bay apparently has never been a fan of the designs and that was all Steven. According to the extras of the 2007 film. All the final bot deigns but Blackout, Bonecrusher and Brawn/Devastator were pick by Steven or Hasbro while the last 3 were Bay's choices. No idea how anything was pick by the future films but the way Bay passively grumbles about executives and producers we can assume it is a brand look to uphold.

You sure about that? They've been a car and a winged car before.

Though Nautica is already using the Blurr mold, and I doubt they'd use it three times in a set.
>>
>>6129171
Too different, to be clones they should have nearly identical robot modes with differing altmodes. You could paint two figures similar like that, but I wouldn't really consider them clones any more than I'd consider the Victorion components clones of one another.
>>
>>6129172
Not sure what you're saying, that we already have a good enough pair of con clones? Because I don't, and I'm not paying out the ass for repainted vehicons either.
Besides, after Dead End got reused like 8 times in CW, would having four uses of the Blurr mold really shock you?
>>
But why doesn't he have an axe? I'd gladly take an axe over the mini aerialbots.

Tbh it's not that obscure. I'm pretty sure fans at the time knew about Japanese transformers, just nothing beyond that. It's not as if he's surprised a Bayformer fan doesn't know about G2 manga panels.

Getting a generic 5 mm axe is way easier than founding in scale planes using the same altmodes than the aerialbots.

No, I meant that they might skip the animal forms and just make them vehicles like the last time.

No, but putting three of them (2 clones+Nautica) in the same set would be too much.

Looks like The Transformers are going high fashion! This week Moschino held their combined Fall menswear and Pre-Fall womenswear fashion show in Milan. A key part of their show were clothes featuring classic Transformers Generation 1 box art turned into prints and then worked into their designs. It’s something I never thought I’d see but it’s a sight to behold none the less. Whether these will be remixed and worked into more standard fare that us regular folk could actually pull off is unknown, but here’s hoping. Read on to check out a selection of pictures from their website and Instagram plus a video of the event after the break, and hit the links to view them in full!

I felt this way too, but the details work much better on the CW Wheeljack compared to the Generations mold. He's my go to Wheeljack now.

I don't own either, but they honestly both look kind of bad.

I suppose if I ever get a Wheeljack, it's gonna have to be the MP.

I've been dragging my heels on getting the second upgrade, but the hands/feet only cost $15 for KOs I'm A-OK with. How'd you get your Blackjack on there though? Mine won't even pretend to connect long enough for a picture.

I hope so too. Shit, I wish Hastak would do it. Downsized MP's would be an instant buy for me. I don't mind bigger figures, but the downsized ones are just easier to mess around with/slap on a shelf/etc.

>>6129772

Sanded the pegs on Menasor's chest. The reason why Blackjack doesn't stay on too well is because the pegs are too big, normally. Unfortunately, I sanded them a bit too much because I'm a moron, so he still doesn't quite stay firmly on. I might have to thicken them a bit with some future or something. Or nail polish. Or just shove some blue-tac in there if I can find some in Walmart or something. Whatever works, right?

Damn, that blows the 3P one out of the water. I hope we get Twintwist, too.

I always find it weird that some HasTak some destroys 3P options in comparison sometimes.
>>

I haven't tried the old nail polish trick in a long time, but here it might be appropriate. Still not sure why they gave Motormaster those weird triwing pegs instead of regular ones.

CW was great, some repaints were redundant but also gave us the best generations Trailbreaker, love the retro face and the new arms were a welcomed surprise.

Unfortunately that ended up being the one mold I ended up disliking in CW.

I found the arm kibble got in the way of the backpack too much and the arms don't go anywhere in arm mode
>>

It's just a car hood, and it's on the back so it's out of sight. Unlike the other Wheeljack's problems, which are all on the front.

>>
>>6129794

Well, it also doesn't hurt that official stuff costs like a 1/10th of the price too. I love my 3P 'bots, but I sure as shit can't buy them as often as I'd like.

I can get pretty much a whole wave of Deluxe's for the cost of just 1 3P 'bot (or even half the cost of 1 3P 'bot) at times, and thats a hard thing to turn down.

>>6129799
>Was this issue really that common?

Mine broke on Vortex, fixed it with super glue. Bought another just in case it breaks further. My Blades' port didn't break, but is stressed like a motherfucker from the first time I inserted the peg. I have sanded all the ports since, but it's still really fragile and a definite problem.

Good thing I have Rook to replace Blades if he ever craps out fully on me and is un-repairable.

It did get released in the states, via online stores. Hell, you can get him on Amazon right now for like $80 if you want.
>>
>>6129022
About when Combiner Wars started, as prices got super jacked up (I think deluxes were at 17-19 dollars, depending on the store.), and the figures just didn't seem as well made or interesting to me as previous lines, and were generally a bit too hallow for me. (Though AoE was fairly disappointing to me as well, I still bought a few from it.)
