So wait, if we buy this overpriced crap, aren't we technically takaracucks?

I wish we'd get an MP Blackout for the 10th anniversary of the first movie.
>>

How mad would you be?
>>
>>6126372
How would that even work?

I mean if it's an absolute madman tier reshell like some of the stuff we've been getting recently it could be okay.
>>
>>6126362

Boycott this shit until they realize you can't make people buy what should really be $20-25.
>>
>>6126378

Paint his colors police car colors.

Add lights to the top of the car.

Boom, Barricade.

>>6126381

Boycott's don't work anymore. Anything that doesn't make money isn't re-evaluated and improved, that costs even more money.

No, it's cut.

So please, don't go see the new Bayformers, or buy Bayformers toys. It's the only way to stop this shit from polluting all of the franchise anymore.
>>
>>6126384
I meant the helicopter guy, blackout, not barricade.

We've had our Voyager price for so long, it'd be criminal to change it. Voyagers have been $29.99 despite all the price changes to deluxes over the years. Leaders have also been pretty set.

These new RB sets have been sighted recently, with no prior announcement, leaks, previews, nothing.

The gimmick this time is minicons that partsforms in various ways. The eagle can combine with the rear of the cat to become a Griffin or a glider for the human, the yeti's arms can be attached to the human or Boulder, etc.

Back in last August we received a word from Simba Smoby (UK), that the company has acquired license to produce Transformers: The Last Knight Diecast vehicles and R/C vehicles from Hasbro.

Today, we learned that the vehicles will make their debut this January 24th at Kensington Olympia during this year’s London Toy Fair.

Several toys were mentioned:

1:18 Scale ‘Giant Robot Warriors’ Bumblebee Diecast Vehicle
1:18 Scale ‘Giant Robot Warriors’ Barricade Diecast Vehicle
1:12 Scale Ultimate RC Bumblebee – controlled and transforms from vehicle to robots via a mobile app.
We also received info on their new Transformers: Robots In Disguise range based on the animated series.

Diecast Optimus Prime with Trailer – includes two diecast vehicles.
Diecast 2-Pack – with an additional articulated Transformers figure.
To check out the toys, visit the Simba Smoby booth (Hall 12, Stand B-03-02) at UK Toy Fair.

Stay tuned with TFW2005 for more info.

Not him, but

Skullcruncher:
>Awkward shoulders that don't make good use of ball joints
>Huge backpack that is just the croc head hanging off with no tabbing or integration
>Teensy trump hands
>Feet are hollow on the inside which means no ankles, exacerbated by the backpack
>also the gator feet look like they could fold in to fill the calves and add support but they just st there
>Spotty thigh QC that leads to loose hips
>Tail is a terrible weapon and never look good outside of being a titan sled
>RUBBER

Weirdwolf
>Bad color matching between paint and plastic
>Limited shoulders with huge restrictive blocks
>No wrists, which really sucks since he has a sword
>The red paint on the face bleeds together and looks like a vague mush
>RUBBER

The Takara Weirdwolf doesn't have this issue. I got Takara's before even seeing Hasbro's in the store and I was fucking disgusted at how badly the yellow matched when I did see it. Didn't know Hasbro's shit was that bad.

Weirdwolf has rubber?
>>
>>6126703
It's not so much rubber as it is soft malleable plastic but yeah, he does.
>>
>>6126694
That's not true, I whine about ALL rubber. My RiD Optimus Prime's rubber tires and RotF Bludgeon's swords have scarred me beyond ever trusting it again. It might not be 'as' bad on wolf, but it's still rubber and it's going to suck when his teeth dry and crumble off.

It's especially infuriating since there's no consistency. TR Doublecross has huge wings that can catch on the dragon arms during transformation, but they're a stiff translucent plastic. Meanwhile Mindwipe has huge swaths of it on his bat head and robot wings, which doubly sucks because it means that the eHobby Convobat has it too. I wanted that shit when when mindwipe was revealed, but fuck paying 100+ value meals for shit that's going to dry and rot in a few years.

Nah, that don't work either. You forget that the Bayformers, take it as it is, does have a fandom within the TF fandom. Add it to international venues, household name being known and so on and "don't see it" doesn't work as well as it did on Ghostbusters, or TMNT.

I know my mp10's tires are still holding up but he sits in a box until I get one of those high end temp control cabinets

>I think it almost broke even with its "western" sales.

It didn't. The director said how much they needed to make to break even and they didn't make that much. They also closed down the studio they set up to make future Ghostbusters movies so if that doesn't tell you it flopped I don't know what will.

He's really not bad. In fact, I love a lot of things about him. I absolutely despised his chicken-walker legs and those black feet, but if you turn them around and use his heelspurs as feet, well, then I'm on board. They are a tad small, but luckily I like that look. His headsculpt is aces, I love his colors, he is nicely poseable, and the gaps in his chopper mode don't bother me.

tl;dr: Whirl is a nice toy and probably one of my faves that year.

It's time to bring back The Bay Cycle again I guess. Normally reasonable people are going to act unreasonable the closer we get to the release of the film to "spite" other people, maybe get into some heated arguments that ruin friendships over what we all know is going to be a terrible movie with no redeeming qualities, and than everything will go back to normal and everyone will admit the movie is shit and than repeat it all over again come the next movie.

It's tiring at this point. You think maybe people would learn to sort the reasonable from the unreasonable and that not everyone who dislikes this films is a foaming at the mouth retard who was born in 1979. I mean fuck I was 16 when the first movie came out, grew up with Beast Wars, and when i said "Eh it was okay but the lack of Transformers kind of made it boring" I got fucking hounded by grown ass adults screaming "GEEWUNNER!"

Maybe it's time to stop because now I'm seeing that happen to 16 year old IDW fans.

Well the most critical I've seen of IDW works ARE geewunners, mostly because comics are niche and I don't think a lot of normal people know that there are TF comics, much less that those who passively know would think that IDW continues on from G1 cartoon continuity (which technically is almost correct in regards to Marvel G-1 for Regeneration One, and Deviations oneshots).

The others are the normal critics who are pretty rare because eventually an argument falls to "NOTMUH" than "shit writers ruined it."

>>
I used to be accepting of the movies because the amount of money they made for the brand meant that engineering got to increase with it. RotF is my favorite movie because it meant 2010 had some of the best figures ever.

Now Hasbro is committed to making shitty springloaded transformers and pull-back cars instead of awesome designs. AoE was really bad with this and I have reason to believe Lk is going to be any better.

The thing is there are people who grew up with them, and there are fans whom, despite not liking them, ended up liking the designs because of the CG making the transformations look fantastic in one and three.

Bayformers for me are a mixed reception. I liked the third but it clearly has a great many faults and disappointments all around, and the designs are getting worse by the post trilogy. I'd still collect the toys granted it's worth the cash and at worst the only butthurt I usually get is when some geewun fans acts way too pretentious in proclaiming how Bayformers is the worst, Michael Bay ruined everything, raped my childhood copy pasted into every bayformers topic thread or whatever.

That's a better choice of words since I hate every movie as movies, so I only like them as much as their toylines.

Really though it was Nest and Hunt for the Decepticons that was absolutely ace. The original line had some good ones, but Sidearm Sideswipe was a huge improvement over the first mold, Battleblades Bumblebee is possibly the definitive toy before the Masterpiece, and what could possibly compete with Mindwipe Sky Stalker, Bludgeon, Seaspray, Lugnut, Hailstorm, and so many others?

That's more like it. Lug's the best.

My neighbor's a huge collector but he can't find Takara Sidearm Sideswipe that doesn't cost like a hundred or so bucks on resell. ROTF did so well with its molds that people *complained* that the molds were too complicated and had to skim it down.

I think out of the DOTM line Jolt became my favorite. What a fucking improvement over the abomination from ROTF.

Fuck man....you're making me think about the golden age again. And that shit makes me sad. That's around the time I got into Transformers, when Animated and ROTF were just starting to hit shelves, and oh man, for a couple of years there, times were so fucking good. Hasbro was even taking chances with some truly bizarre designs like Hailstorm and Blazemaster, which I appreciated seeing. I think the DOTM line was really when I started feeling the beginning of the end--transformations were getting simpler, sculpts and paint apps suffering, and gimmicks taking over. For the most part, I really haven't been totally happy with any TF I've bought since those times aside from MPs.

>mostly because comics are niche and I don't think a lot of normal people know that there are TF comics

Actually, the problem with the current comics is that normies ARE knowing about them, and it's ruining comics because they're trying to pull a Marvel and "appeal to the genderfluid nu-male who watches over his tri-kin asexual fox spirit wife's kids while xhe fights the oppressive white CIS patriarchy".

Thats why we keep getting stories about gay robots, and not adventures in space while searching for the Holy Grail or interplanetary wars.

>>
>>6127292
>expecting a coherent story and good designers from a summer blockbuster
>>
>>6127301
Nah man, only Marvel's getting the push for that sort of shit. Gayrobots aren't really a big push in TF since there hasn't been fembots in the early IDW issues and there was the debate on HOW to introduce them with explanation (no, having no explanations won't work as well as it does in cartoons and movie) and since none of them actually procreate, gayrobots are as straight as they can be. As of today there's only two "couples" in the main team.

Just be glad that the comics don't actually adapt to the extreme from the live action movies besides Bee getting a black stripe and Barricade getting promoted to "corrupt cop with a spark of gold".

On the side note, MTMTE's crap was entirely Roberts fault for going to Tumblr too much.
>>
>>6127146

At that point you're better off saying "Fuck it" and buying a 3P MP Galvatron, because if you're gonna waste $50 on one toy with Voyager tier engineering/paint/looks, you might as well just go balls deep and get a professional product for another $100 and just pretend the first $50 you were gonna spend was spent on hookers and coke.

‘Tis the Toy Fair Season and we recently saw the conclusion of Hong Kong Toys And Games Fair where Movie Masterpiece Bumblebee and Shadow Spark Optimus Prime was revealed for the first time. UK Toy Fair is to take place near the end of January as well.

Next in line is Spielwarenmesse: Nuremberg Toy Fair 2017 which is mostly known as German Toy Fair by many. Taking place this February 1st for the 68th time, the fair is held at Messezentrum, Germany.

We have received word that several exhibitors will participate with Transformers Toys and Merchandise. However, as always, the fair is infamous among the toy community for keeping reveals under wrap until officially revealed to the public during New York Toy Fair taking place this February 18th.

The Transformers product exhibitors list is as follows:

Hasbro
Hauck
The Cookie Company
INVENTO GmbH
MUNECAS SAICA
Stor
Undercover GmbH
HTI
Cartamundi
Find out more on what each exhibitor is bringing to the show floor (there’s quite a lot), after the jump. Stay tuned with TFW2005 for the best Transformers Toy Fair Coverage.

Hasbro (Hall 12 – Stand F10-H5)

As the official manufacturer of Transformers toys, the company will showcase Transformers: The Last Knight toys at this year’s German Toy Fair. However, we did not receive what toys will be featured. It is possible to see Voyager Class Optimus Prime as well as Movie Masterpiece Bumblebee during the event. If any luck, Generations Trypticon will be present during the event.

Hauck (Hall 02 – Stand B05-C04)

I don't agree Blaster is better. His head is not as good and his own default TM looks poor with the mold. Also while he has more color I feel it's not broken up well and makes him look plain.

Monkey's paw angle, they wind up clogging shelf-space we'd all rather be given to Generations. Hopefully they do plenty of fun non-movie characters in the upcoming line, we all loved the RotF side-tier stuff, and the Real Gear line before the '07 movie is what got me back into collecting as an adult. Last movie all I wound up getting was Scorn.
Good with the bad I guess.

I thought it looked garbage back then and it still looks garbage today. Everything is its own moving part with zero thought about where it ends up in robot mode, so the transformations are deceptive parts-layering. It's the cgi equivalent of drawing a random card from a deck, placing it on top, repeating, and subtly slipping the first card out of the deck. I suppose that's fine if you're a fan of sensory overload, but the robots got less screentime because these trashy transformations cost so much to render.

Since you own a Soundwave I'd like to know your opinion. Do you think Soundwave would have turned out better if he was done closer to Sixshot's face, (essentially dedicating the whole face to the helmet?), or is the helmet not good enough anyway?

and Hasbro gets basically nothing off the actual ticket sales, or any royalties from the movie studio beyond the initial licensing fee. They have to rely on toy and merch sales to make money off these films.

Sucks for Bayformers, but probably worked in their favor for all their other franchises which bombed in theaters. Probably also fortunate they never made SJemW movie dolls or those would've put Hasbro in the black and fired people.

I'm not sure I understand the question. The flaw was how both the LG and TR version was painted, they didn't frame it right and the colors were to bright leaving him with that deer in headlight look. I'm not sure what else could have been done to the head to keep the TM gimmick to work and look correct. All the heads are rather force to stay to a certain size so the only other helmet option would have been a narrower face/no flaps on the helmet.
>>
>>6127741
I wonder how you'd look that up. I find license deals to be very interesting subject matter, especially with stuff like this.

I doubt they'd ever want to end the deal anyway. Regardless of how much they make off the films themselves they get absolute shittons of publicity. Behind every TF collector that says "yeah I got into transformers because I like TF1/ROTF/DOTM/AOE" is a smiling hasbro exec counting his money"
>>
>>6127744
Basically, I find that Soundwave need two things to improve the head:

-Change the face of the TM, with a larger face plate that's also wider and move it a bit higher, while also moving the visor up to where the forehead is.

-The helmet would need to move the crest and ridge higher, while also moving the sides of the helmet closer.

It felt like they were trying to make SW's head work with any figure, and have the helmet work with everything, which ended up making the head subpar.

>The live-action film series is not Hasbro's sole property. The licensing agreement with DreamWorks and Paramount makes anything related to the movie-verse (including any toys based on characters that appear on-screen) at least partially their property as well.
Basically Paramount can do as they please with the movie license to the point they could even outsource the film characters to other companies to make merc/toys going completely around Hasbro. That said that's a lot of wasted work when you could just Hasbro do all the leg work while you just focus on the film project. It's a major reason the brand is staying so strong. They might not be sharing profits but they are not dealing with each others shrinkage, budgets or costs, they stand on their own as autonomous businesses creating a synergy of power neither would have if they had to negotiate the brand license.

To split hairs both Sixshot's parts still work with any TR. Also I'm not seeing the issues presented, what you describe I feel would make him either look like a pencil/eraser head or that deer in headlights look would look like he was screaming in horror.
Ultimately they could have tried what they did with PM Prime and just have a helmet that cover the TM with a visor open for the eyes but much like Prime that would just ruin the gimmick even more so.

I wonder if there will be toy overstock with the new line? I don't recall much from AOE apart from Grimlock overstating his welcome for like a year. During DOTM all kinds of overstock found its way to dollar stores and I found myself impulse buying random nobodies like pic related for cheap.

Most stores are kinda wary on movie stuff. They either order a bit or not enough.

I remember the releases and it gets depressing as the toys get simpler.

'07 - Nearly the size of you Star Wars section

'09 - Huge amount of stuff, nearly a half an isle

'11 - Maybe had a case of everything, not put out until I asked about it

'14 - Maybe a bit more but small amount of product

My main concern is the amount of shelf space. Maybe the stores spring resets will be kinder but my local stores have barely any TF shelf space. I'd love to go see a huge amount of new things come April or May, whenever the toys come, but I also know I won't get a lot now, especially with MP movie bots coming out.

>Not banned, they just didn't decide to release it there because the original films weren't successful there either.

No. You are not allowed to release movies in china that have ghosts. Its an actual real law there. If you DO have ghosts in a movie it has to be explicitly stated in the movie that it was just somebodys dream or imagination, and the ghosts did not actually exist, and even then they are super picky about what is allowed and what isnt.

Like, a character having a dream and seeing dead relavtive, or a character hallucinating and seeing a ghost is okay.

But a character encountering a ghost and implying that this ghosts is real and exists outside of imagination/dream is not allowed and literally illegal.

>>6128102
The heads themselves, specifically for Galvatron. Sometimes the coloring on the side is off.
>>
>>6128085
>What's wrong with the diecast again?

Shit tier garbage metal that holds paint poorly, destroys joints (both plastic and metal joints, since it makes a shit metal for joints and metal fucks up plastic joints), can rust, and basically is only there to fool retards into thinking something is valuable because it has weight to it.

Instead of making the chest, crotch, and feet diecast, they should've kept it all plastic, given the crotch hip skirts, and if they wanted to add weight to the feet, just have put some diecast inside of the feet, or on the bottom only.

It's a great figure, but really, they shouldn't have put any diecast into it. Same with the rubber tires, they should've just made them plastic, since rubber is a shit material too for toys.
>>
>>6128128
You know what I don't understand. Why not put diecast weights inside the plastic limbs (legs) to give weight. That way nothing gets fucked up paint or joint wise and the stability and weight is still there.
>>
>>6128138

They recently ceased small packet SAL (<1kg) so there's no economic option for small shipments. Note that RK will add 200g~400g when calculating their shipping quotes due to packing material.
