Why is everyone saying that Figuarts K2S0 is too small, do they not have the figure? Because mine just arrived and the box itself is considerably larger than the other Figuarts boxes. I haven't measured the figure yet or anything but it's obviously much taller than a typical figuarts.
>>
>>6100417
I think everyone's gotten used to the black series over the last two months, which he's absolutely dwarfed by. Also, they're probably comparing him to black series troopers, which are also slightly larger than what the figuarts is intended to be scaled next to. He's fine on his own.

Depends on what you mean by 'display'. All the Figuarts troopers thus far have been fairly sturdy and very nicely-made. It's why I own two of the original Stormtrooper they released, it's got a fair few accuracy issues but the casting quality, materials and all-over gloss white paint finish on the armour are top-notch. They just feel really nice to handle.

The upcoming new version solves most of the accuracy issues (although being from Rogue One it's completely symmetrical now, also has a different belt and shoes), and includes three weapons as opposed to one.

Because one thing Bandai are complete shit at is weathering. The only thing I have from them that has it done well is their speeder bike.

They tried weathering up Jango Fett - between the sloppy paint washes and terrible engineering decisions it's the only SHF figure to date I've had to do work on.

Everyone has said their Rogue One stuff has been solid (waiting on my own to be delivered to make that judgement), but if I see another Jango-tier fuckup from them again I might just save my money to buy the odd Hot Toys trooper or start building the Bandai model kits instead.

I've since fixed the crotch, but I really wish I'd taken some "before" pics to show off just how bad this thing really was out of the box.
>>
>>6101055

I think it's sad that you're supporting a line that isn't even trying to sculpt or paint the figure right. I guess you like cartoon coloring though.
>>
>>6101083
>I think it's sad
I think it's sad you shill so hard for hasbro, and they have such a clearly inferior product. It would be like trying to convince someone to buy a chevy instead of a Ferrari: really retarded job when you think about it.
>>
>>6101043
It looks like he's been eating a turd.

Is that Greg under the helmet? :^)
>>
>>6101070
Anybody know the fix for Jango's loose waist? I got mine and i see the problem so to prevent it i've left the plastic seperator in but trimmed to be unseeable. He's fine for the moment but i'd prefer a more permanent fix.
>>
>>6101088

Your butthurt attitude is delicious. You're wasting your money and Bandai's giving you garbage in return. Serves you right.
>>
>>6101093
It's either to shim it with a flexible piece of plastic like you did, or use Future/super glue/nailpolish to build up the surface of the ball, whichever you are more comfortable with.
>>

>>
>>6101110
>>6101103
Curious about the glue idea, how much is enough and to what degree is it beneficial. I also need to loosen a joint on another figure so to what end does the loosening and tightening of a joint go simply TOO far.
>>
>>6101112
You can use soap shavings or a tiny dab of silicone grease to loosen joints, some people will tell you to use WD-40/shock oil, but I wouldn't recommend it.
>>
Figuarts Rathtar when?
>>
>>6101112
>Curious about the glue idea
The best way to tighten a joint with glue is to very slowly build up thin layers, letting them dry between layers. Same with Future. Some total crazies with just let a small amount of super glue drip into a joint WHILE ITS STILL ASSEMBLED, then spend the next 10 minutes moving it constantly, as the glue dries the joint stiffens, but the constant movement keeps it from setting up, and ultimately it coats the inside surfaces. If you aren't careful, this can make something too tight quickly, so it's best to use just a tiny bit of glue to begin with.
>>
>>6101132
Hopefully never.
>>
>>6101043
$25+, sorry you don't live in the US. Import tax must suck for toys you can't get in physical stores.
>>
>>6101147
Here in the UK they charge £29.99 for Black Series figures, and that's assuming you can find anything in stock that isn't TFA Finn.

SHF, Mafex, etc come out to £33-35 before shipping in most cases, plus there's plenty of smaller Japanese stores that undervalue packages.
>>
>still no figuarts Dooku

Fucking why. We have Windu, AOTC Anakin and Obi Wan, and Padme on the way. We need motherfucking Dooku. And maybe a few of the Super Battle Droids to escort him.

Bandai are weird when it comes to bad guys.
So many awesome looking Toku villains never get a figure.
Sure I read the Japanese prefer to buy good guys only.

Though Star Wars ones are more likely to sell. So who knows.
>>
>>6101184
Not bad. Pretty thin so he feels more fragile.
The way they did the hands is a bit weird in that it part can come off easily but it attaches easily enough.
Be willing to overlook that and they are enjoyable. I liked that the arms were removable too, allows for some variation.

There's actually one of those not far from me. It's... not completely hateful, I guess? Most things are marked up way too high but every so often something slips through the net. Picked up the Mezco Batman there for £60, and got two packs of Tamashii stages for £10.

Looking at the head-on promo pics it looks about right (still not 100% perfect, but I'll take it).

You have to bear in mind Disney had the Stormtrooper suits reworked for Rogue One (and presumably other films going forwards). The shoes are different, the belt is different, they "fixed" the asymmetries and casting defects, made deeper cuts around some joints to enhance mobility, and changed various other minor details.

Ashoka IS a more important character than Luke. That's why she was the hero of the original trilogy, the person they were searching for in Force Awakens, and the person whose father was the focus of the prequel trilogy.

All you stupid fake Star Wars fans only know Luke from a cartoon spin off and he's not even featured in any of the movies. That's why there are so many toys of Ashoka. Duh!

Will the new Figuarts RO Stormtrooper be taller than the last ones?

IMG_8012.jpg
934KB, 2480x1660px
>>6102531

Short answer: same size.

The biggest issue people have with Figuarts is that they scale better with each other and not always Black Series--- and that's being generous because taller characters don't look tall enough. Vader, Phasma, and Chewie's looking that way.

The reasons the humans look smaller is because they have more realistic proportions. BS all have tree trunks for limbs but the dead give away is taller characters aren't tall enough.

So the RO Stormtrooper will scale well with the previous release but look shorter and thinner compared to Black Series.

Odd's are they will still be NIB just like if you were to order from amiami the only issue is they usually put them up one at a time and they sell out super fast, so you will need to watch the page linked below like a hawk after the figure releases:

Oh another thing, I've never bought goods outside America so I should probably set up a Paypal right?
>>
>>6102649
Yeah, a Paypal will be handy no matter which site you go with in the end. And there aren't any customs fees or anything to worry about if you're in the States. As for the Mandarake/Amiami debate, I'd say it's just worth asking yourself whether you'd rather save $10 or get it faster with less hassle. Mandarake is cheaper, but you've gotta wait for 'em to list one and be quick enough to snap it up. Amiami will most likely be a bit more expensive, but they're just "place the preorder and you're good." Price versus convenience, really.
>>
>>6102649
Yes.

Also keep in mind that Mandarake usually updates around 3 to 4 M US Central time, but there's no telling if it will pop up inmediately, or a day later, or two days later, it's all based on what they get sold to them, I think. With that being said the last few Star Wars Figuarts releases have all popped up there within a day or two of being released.
>>
>>6102660
This is also true. You'll get it around 10 bucks or so cheaper at Mandarake but there's a lot of uncertainty and hassle involved. Also one good thing in Mandarake's favor is they will list if a figure has damage to the box or figure itself in the product description.

Happened with Ahsoka and Kanan when they were first released. Now there's at least two shelfwarming at my local store.
>>

For the Clone Trooper, either go with the Figuarts or Bandai model kit. Both are around the same size, differences being Figuarts has a matte finish, while the model kit's glossy.

Also worth mentioning the model kit gives you the option parts to display as both Phase 1 and 2.

Damn dude those pictures are awesome. Any tips on angling? And do you use Photoshop or any after effects to enhance your pics? I use Instagram filters which might be a bad idea but I only have my phone cuz poorfag
>>
>>6102857

Biggest tip I have is to lay down instead of pointing down at them, get on their level. Try not to put things in shot that will give away the scale, like a leaf. Don't take things where they don't belong---The ACBA alley is played out but Batman makes no sense in the forrest.

Personally I fuck with them beforehand and figure out the shot before taking them out. Next time you find them in an interesting pose recreate the shot somewhere interesting. Try to hide your stands. Q-tip stems make great "cleats" for Black Series since they have holes on the bottom of their feet.

For effects I use an app called Pixelmater but that because I don't have Photoshop which I'd use regularly if I had it. I also tend to mute colors before uploading to Instagram where I'll replace the color with a filter but never at 100%. Something like Lo-Fi or Mayfair at 26% with a slight vignette.

>- hair and paint look better in person than in pictures
This is a lie told by people who have never seen the figures in person.

In person it looks all fuzzy, like it's a 3d printed figure because of how rough the faces look.
And these little grains of plastic are much smaller than the dots they squirt on the Figuarts' faces.

So if you want to buy a SHF featuring a real person's face, do so in person, so you can make sure you're okay with the rough texture.
Don't be like the liars in this thread who need to convince themselves that the paint job doesn't look bad by getting others to buy it too. A lot of these liars haven't even seen the figures in person.
>>
>>6103139

>>

>Nobody cares whether you do or don't.
I'm just warning people that they should be aware of the fact that the paint job is rough looking and that they should find a way to see them in person before plunging away.
It's like telling people that all the figures has a loose joint or that it has a painted detail instead of sculpted. It's a fair warning to know what to expect.
We'd have far fewer people trying to convince others the paint job is amazing if they aren't blindly buying $60 figures they can't return, just to feel better about their own purchase.

>And again
Doesn't matter.
If everything else is as bad, why bother buying anything at all?
You might as well tell me to get Hasbro's 5PoA Star Wars figures for character X just because it's the only one in existance. Get some standards and know that you don't NEED to buy it just because it exists. It's better not to waste your money, unless you have no standards.

So what you're saying is that there isn't a better option in 1/12 scale and you're getting sand up your vag for no reason?

While no figure is perfect the Star Wars Figuarts aren't "rough looking" maybe Black Widow and Ep II Obi Wan but to make a generalization like that makes you seem like you don't know what you're talking about. But what do I know, I'm a Bandai fanboy "liar" right?

Nobody here needs anyone else's validation on what they buy and it's always an eternal circle jerk on whether the faces on these are good or not. Spoilers, they are.

And yet again, if they're so "rough" looking show me a better one in 1/12 scale. I beseech you. The way you knock these you obviously know of some secret Hot Toys looking 1/12 figure so for the love of God post it already.

When you have people like >>6103168 claiming the paint job is great, it's obvious they haven't seen it in person or are just lying.

A textured paint job that's made completely of dots isn't great, because great paint jobs still exist using fully solid paint applications.

But it's not, because he is right. You won't see the dots when the figure is on your shelf, but you will if you view it up close.
I am curious how you are so sure that it's obvious he is lying or hasn't seen any in person.

Indeed it is. Looking forward to the Game of Death version for even more faces.

I actually have no problem with the metallic paint on the hair. Maybe I've just gotten lucky with mine, but they look fine in the round. Hair generally has some iridescence/reflective sheen to it, I'm kind of surprised it took a company this long to try using metallic paint to replicate the effect.
>>
>>6103257
>It wasn't produced for some lisensing issue or something.
The licensing issue is that 3A never got the license.

They made a few protos of Fett and some stormtroopers to show off to Lucasfilm people, to see if they could get the license.

Of course now, they obviously got some kind of license since they've done some Star Wars inspired figures though in 1/6.

Did you even pay attention to what i said?
Let's repeat
>In person it looks all fuzzy, like it's a 3d printed figure because of how rough the faces look.
>If you say the paint job doesn't look rough/textured/blurry/etc, you're a lying
Yes, he's right that you can't see the individual dots unless you're up close to it, but from even thumbnails you can tell that the paint job isn't solid, that it's made up of a "window screen", like that part of the thumbnial is in lower resolution than the rest.
That is not a great paint job. He's lying or ignorantly misleading people by saying that.

This is why you should buy the Figuarts in person, because you'll see for yourself if the econ mode print jobs don't bother you.
Judge for yourself, instead of relying on people like him.

>>6103281
>And like that, you need to supply some proof.
It's a shame there aren't any companies who make Star Wars figures with actual collector quality paint jobs, but collector quality paint jobs exist nonetheless.
A company like DCC actually understands how to use the dots that Bandai uses. Instead of using the low resolution dots to make up the entirety of the paint job, DCC uses them as shadowing and shading. So it blends together with the underlying real paint job, like shadows and shading do, instead of just showing the unpainted colored plastic inbetween the dots like they do on Figuarts figures.
>>
>>6103494
>Uses clown make up as proof

I guess you couldn't find any examples of a better paint job for a face that can't get away with a cartoon paint job.

Yeah, their Superman looks awful, because like the Figuarts, they rely on flesh colored plastic and put the dots over that.
Pretty ugly.
I miss when DCC actually used flesh colored paint, as it looked far better.

Point still stands though, a figure that uses real paint is better than one that uses a dot matrix printer as paint.

It's a shame various lines are degenerating and taking steps backwards, yet there's people like you cheering them on.

The Wal-Mart exclusive black series still has articulation, but basically most 3.75" figures are made for kids now. The collectors were told to jump to 6" or bust. >That paint app doesn't look that impressive.
It's the Joker, so it's pretty simple to do if you do it flat like Mattel, but the shading really really makes it stand out over all other ones before it.
Go look at the Dark Knight and Suicide Squad Jokers and note how heavy handed their "shading" is. For almost all companies, it's basically solid black or horrid PAK quality paint jobs like this

>I have a Figuarts Windu (normally a black series collector because fuck Japan. Also, poorfag), and he looks scary lifelike.
Unlike the other figuarts, this one actually has a good face sculpt and his skin tone actually allows the dots to hide.
So it's actually pretty good, if offscale.

Well, looks to me like the Black Series K2SO not only beats the Figuarts, but also the model kit.

Good on Hasbro, fitting the first good figure in the black series in 3 years is the definitive figure of the character in question in the 6 inch scale.
Now if only we could get more figures like K2 like that.
Like HK-47, a new IG-88, or Dengar.

>taking the "buy the model" meme seriously
how dumb

What company should get the 3.75 line since Hasjew clearly doesn't care about it anymore

What happened to that company doing those 1/18th scale Alien figures?
Maybe Hasbro could subcontract them or something.

Hiya Toys, they're currently making a 1/18 Aliens APC for a few hundred bucks.

oh
does this at least mean we're getting a 1/18th scale Ripley at some point then

The Alien figures are pretty bad.
They feature more articulation than GI Joes, but they're half as poseable and their detail is pretty bootleg.
Toy Notch does much better figures, even if their paint apps for the eyes are worse than Hasbro's.

Of course, this is stupid to suggest that someone else make 1:18 Star Wars figures, because Hasbro would release more of them if more than just WalMart would order them. Undoubtedly, TRU wanted them too, but WalMart most likely promised to order enough to cover whatever TRU would order for exclusive rights.
So even if another company were making 1:18 Star Wars figures, they'd be rarer than WalMart's and likely the same quality as Hasbro's... or worse.

>getting the worst Alien figures since Kenner
I should have mentioned that only the humans are bad. The Alien figures aren't... but they're based on VG designs, so maybe you may not like them.

Anyone have experience with buying used figures on ebay? How risky is it?
