***Non-Gundam Group Build***

So this is pretty straightforward, build something that isn't Gundam. I literally do not care what it is, if it's not Gundam it counts (and just to get this out of the way, Bandai is fine). I do not require full paint jobs this time either, as I know the vast majority of people here build Bandai and that's it.

This is also not a prize build, but a regular group build.

I'm thinking bout building the 1/100 real robot revolution L gaim mk 2 for the next group build. Has anyone here built this kit? the inner frame looks glorious, but the single tiny waist piece scares the shit out of me, is it easily breakable? i think im going to replace it with a metal piece for strength.

yeah it probably is much more secure with the armor on. But i want the option of leaving some of the inner frame exposed, and i definitely think holding up the entire upper section with one thin plastic piece is a bad design decision, I have to deal with it since its basically the closest we'll ever get to a five star stories design made by bandai. I think i'm going to have to mod it in some way. at very least i'll run a metal pin up that part.

will do. I'm going away for christmas to a house with a workshop, so i'll take it & get comfy prepping, building & deseaming the kit over my break. Ive ordered 4 different alclad metal paints that wont come in until early january, i want this thing to be all primed & ready to go by the time i get the paint.

My bro spent way too much on me this year. Between pic related and the RG Zaku II and Systems Weapon Pack 1, I am really, really humbled. Doubt I deserve the kits either.

But it is shippable by Sea, which is literally by cargo boat. Which takes up to several months depending on where to where you want it shipped. The actually travel time from say US to Asia is probably a few weeks, but the cargo ships may take several weeks to fill up before sailing, so it can take 1 to 3 months depending on the schedule

Zaku update.
Fitted a couple of fuel tanks to the backpack (wave option parts) and stuck on a couple of detail parts too.
Replaced the ball and socket joints on the cannon mounts with some much sturdier kotobukiya flexible arm parts.
Still needed to scratchbuild the middle coupling because the koto one had too much flex.

anyone here work with brass tubing? just got the Hg barbatos lupus and want to fill the big void in front neck area, also is it worth highly modding it? as i noticed the collar is way too close and the shoulder pistons dont touch the outer chest armor. Is it also worth getting the 'DLC' pack or should i just fill in the holes on the back with putty? And no im obviously not the guy who said he got the lupus a few posts before me.

I'm pretty new to the whole gundam kit building thing and I have two HG gundams, (Forbidden and the Winged Custom Zero one) and I want some advice on things like detailing and what other HG kits are good.

Short answer: Read the guide. Long answer: Read the fucking guide. Also, most modern HG kits are pretty good overall; I'd recommend the RX-78-2 Revive as a great all-around kit, though I also have a soft spot for the F91.

Started as a joke build that occasionally showed up at model shows and competitions iirc. Bandai and Sunrise made their own version for the gunpla Builders series. As someone in the states, it's surprises me how prevalent it is although it isn't shown on cable television anymore (to my knowledge). It seems to be a pretty popular medium up there with Dragon Ball. That's just based on how often I've seen Gundam merchandise or references to the show from other cartoons or tv shows. Kind of surprises me. In fact I found a few model kits at a home goods store years back at discount prices. Most hobby stores I go to have some sort of Gundam merchandise.

Pretty much suffers from everything that plagued the original strike.
Bandai also apparently added heel extension pieces on build strike to make it taller than the strike, but they fall off if you breathe on them.

About 4 or 5 reviews have claimed this already. Shame, because I really like the RG redesign of the build strike with all the sexy clear parts.

Just what color am I to color the thing?

The main color is all over the place in the movies. Sometime it looks metallic grey, sometimes it looks like the star destroyer grey/white, and sometimes really light brown.

I am think either white base coat with hand brushed light grey or full one of the Tamiya metallic/grey spray.

Fuck, I love this kit. Its impossible to keep the 3 lined one in its slot though, so I let it float.

the one for the arms are just enough, if not too long once you plug the units that are actually lighting up the arms. There's going to be about a half an inch sticking out after threading it underneath the shoulder peg thing and you're gonna wish there wasnt enough wires because trying to fit it in there before putting in the back panel is a bit of work if you want it done correctly. I personally just shoved it in on the unicorn and just leave it out n the Phenex.
