For those unfamiliar, "Plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model." If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.

***Non-Gundam Group Build***
So this is pretty straightforward, build something that isn't Gundam. I literally do not care what it is, if it's not Gundam it counts (and just to get this out of the way, Bandai is fine). I do not require full paint jobs this time either, as I know the vast majority of people here build Bandai and that's it.
This is also not a prize build, but a regular group build.
Submit to .
Due Date: March 1st, 2017.
>Yellow LED is P-Bandai

When is GundamPlanet going to start giving away the 2016 Customize parts? I just got my order and I got 2 B's from 2015.
What's the best/most accurate G-Self or Full Armor?
Not sure if there are any differences in the kits.
>>6057481
Never, they're jews and never give anything out until it's too late
>>6057476
buy the bootleg leds off ebay.
Just as good, much much cheaper and readily available.
>For fun buy one of those chinese waterslides off ebay
>Shipped out November 11th
>Only just today landed in customs
This sure takes a while.
I seem to have forgotten how ludicrously large these HMM boxes were. Still, I wanted another Furry Gundam for a while, I was glad to pay the shipping.
>>6057539
Chinese small package tends to be like that, usually 2 weeks minimum.
>>6057556
Looking back at Zoids, those gears are ridiculously huge
>>6057466
looks cool but damn that's going to have shit gun depression and take a long time to get back on target
>>6057266
No, he's here too.
>>6057599
And I fucking loved it. Still do. Just one or two more kits to grind my plamo skill and I'm building that sucker.
>>6057603
I was thinking it would have timed blasts of lift that kept it on point.
>>6057655
I don't know about you, but I like the idea that it goes flying back about 30 feet every time it fires its cannon. Useless, but hilarious.
First kit, extremely happy with it (please excuse nubs, i'm buying a hobby knife tomorrow)
Which website do you eurofags use to buy kits? Pretty much every site has expensive ass shipping

Eh, you still have three weeks left.
>>6057556
Blue Impulse stylet, nice. Going to get a kit for good ol' Liger there to pair her up with the Jager?

I really hope not. I would love a kit of that so much.
Kansas anon, your package(s) has/have been shipped.

I very well might. I'm still a newbie making virgin sacrifices to the plamo gods in order to git gud and at ten or fifteen bucks a pop these things are perfect. I do actually like the designs too, but even aside from that IBO has been great for cheap but we'll engineered shit to grind with.
>>6057825
Can it transform???
Built both Astaroths, nice kits but the origins better.
>>6058316
Yea, sorry. Which is the most accurate HG?
I've been looking to buy one of those and a Full Armor from Thunderbolt, just can't seem to pick one.
Thanks Santa!
>>6058538
Best thunderbolt FA is the MG, with the two hg being literally the same mold, just slightly different colors.
All the G-Self hg use the same base mold for the most part. "Best" mostly comes down to preference for the loadout.
>>6058529
how is the origins better anon? I have and love the Astaroth, kind of on the fence about the A.Origins, wondering if I should grab that or a Gusion instead.
>>6058538
I pretty much bought every other G Reco kit except the G-Self. I will say that the Perfect Pack G-Self was pretty tempting.
Any anons around here who got/built the HG G-Self?

Why not became the snapshit-kun of /toy/?
>>6058606
it's only snapshitted because the shitty postal service in England is shitty
>>6058602
My fav G-Reco kit? The Gastima, easily. It doesn't have any fancy gimmicks but it's just a super cool looking design for me. Surprising runner up is the Catsith for just how blocky and fun its accessories are. I'd recommend the Grimoire too.

While riding is a different story (though Saber does have A-rank) I'm sure you can make them strike a good paired up pose. Source: http://myfigurecollection.net/picture/1306861
>>6058777
Oh thank god, it's not actually that shiny OOB. I would absolutely destroy that finish during nub removal. Yeah, riding that thing would never work but I'm sure some sick poses could be made and I'd likely end up getting kits for the other unit types anyway.
Come to think though, why isn't there a base Liger downgrade kit? You can buy it in any configuration standalone or buy the base and upgrade it to the other configurations, but there's no way to buy a standalone upgrade and then make it the normal Liger.
WA-bro, Amazon's saying that the first package was delivered earlier today. Hope it got to you safely without anyone stealing it off your porch or something.
Been a while since Bandai made a flop on an RG kit, as enjoyable as the build is. You have to question why they thought using the Mk 2 frame to hold the entire sinanju was a good idea.
>>6058910
Mk 2 as in Gundam Mk 2?

Yes the MK II Gundam.
>>6058925

>>6058925
Abysmal.
Well time to buy some models.
Thinking of 1 large MG, 2 mid sized mg or a bunch of high grades. So far these are my choices, which ones do you recommend?
Large MG
Sazabi, Nu, Hi Nu, or ReZel Type C
Midsized
Hyakushiki, Jesta, Tallgeese, Rezel Commander, Unicorn Banshee, and Zaku Cannon
Highgrades
ZII, ZZII, Tryon 3, Graze, Marasai, Arios, Vidar, barbatos Lupus, Gusion Full City, Tieren, Unicorn Full armor red version, Banshee. and revive hyaku shiki
>>6058925
Keeping the gundam white in all the colour schemes dilutes them so much that I genuinely couldn't tell what they were without looking at the shield marking.
>>6058954
Sazabi Ver. Ka.
Such a good MG.

>>6058954
sazabi is a impressive fuckin kit.
So I'm using Tamiya to do some panel washes. Somehow I fucked up and bought the X-10 gunmetal that for some reason has shiny bits in it which doesn't seem like it'd be good for the purpose. For general use washing on lighter colors, what's the best gray to go for?
>>6058954
I've got the Sazabi and Nu posed facing off against eachother, I heartily recommend both.
>>6058925

But buying kits will be more expensive. You'll have to find other hobbies, some of them might even be more productive to society! Our great and wonderful leader will even make YOU great again!
Would a SD be an appropriate gift for someone who has never built a model, but might enjoy it? Person in question is also a successful radiologist in training, so they have the intelligence/mechanical skill for it. I mean it's not a young kid or anything. Thinking the Barbatos DX, since it has all the accessories..
>>6059145
>>6059154
I love you Gunpla General. Never, ever change.
>>6059179
Is there a reason you're buying gunpla and not something else? I'd be more worried about him not liking the material than the actual modelling aspect. Do include some basic tools if he doesn't have them, too.
>>6058973
You mind explaining?
>>6059181
I bought him a gift card to the movies, so he can take his fiance. It's my younger, far more successful brother and we both watched Wing and G Gundam on Toonami as kids. It's a bit of nostalgia, and if I decide not to give it to him, it's not like I will waste it.
>>6058925

>>6059192

>>6059179
Might I suggest the SD Full Armor Unicorn or the SD Neo Zeong?
Hey Chris from La Habra, CA. Just received your Zaku in the mail today, thank you kindly! I've gathered the stuff I'm sending you and I should be able to get it out this Saturday.
Sorry, I can't seem to remember exactly what you wanted so you might be getting $200 worth of Balls (ver. Ka) and a limited edition Linkin Park GP01. Don't worry, you don't have to thank me.
>>6058878
Oh hey that's probably me. It was a little icy when I got home but it made it just fine.

Ah, so you've actually thought this out. Perfect, it sounds like that part is all well and good. I'd think an SD would be fine but please, please give him a set of side cutters and some sandpaper or something with a quick and dirty instruction note. Don't make him work for it.
>>6059329
Why does it even exist?
>>6059338
One of the Linkin Park members is a giant Weeb and likes Gunpla. The cover of one of the albums actually has a Not!Hizack on it.
>>6059334
I'm getting an Xbone game of similar cost for my other brother. Bad goes to worse and they spend a ton on me, I'll have the extra gifts respectively to give them. If they go minimal, I have a Barbatos SD and a game. It's win-win in a horrible sort of way. He will be here from college for a month or so, I'll loan my tools if he is interested.

Heads up we're getting another gundam frame and another "Large Mobile Suit" which can mean Mobile armor.
Would anyone mind informing me on how the magic of Gundam Markers works? I see that they are apparently official Gundam products, but are they the same paint colors as are shown in the manuals?
Anyone have tips on how to prime a large amount of parts?
>>6059883
Bandai hobby has a deal with Mr Hobby. Their paint guides use their range of colors and Mr Hobby does specific paint marker sets catered to specific gunpla kits.
>>6059940
Thank you for explaining.
Hello guys, I have a little issue
I'm building the MG FA Thunderbolt, and I've noticed 2 of the supposed "joint covers" are in a different package. Does that mean something, like they have to be used on specific pieces?
There was a point we needed to stop and we clearly have passed it.

Both Bandai Hobby and Sunrise are part of Bandai, but that does not mean that Bandai Hobby owns the Gundam designs or franchise. They have to get a licence to use them just like any other company (although they supposedly get it cheap).
Japanese business practices are weird, Sunrise basically acts as its own company despite being owned by Bandai and Bandai even has its own anime branch (Bandai Visual) seperate from Sunrise (although they often work together).

Subscription box came in from USAgundamstore. $30 shipped, you can just sign up for the current month without making a subscription.
Tweezers, reverse tweezers, a decent hg, a fuckboi wing kit (but at least a cool one), a sheet of 800 paper, a bag of scale screws, 3 pots of Tamiya Acrylic.
I'll probably do another month and see how different it is from month to month.

We do a monthly build gathering, so splitting the box up across who needs what isn't awful. I'm hoping for a cheaper version that focuses on detail parts instead, which they said they'd work on if the main one went well. Indecision and high shipping keeps me from getting a lot of that stuff.
>>6060236

>>6060533

Hey, guys. This past weekend I bought a box of thoroughly fucked Gundams to use as spare parts. I managed to strip off all the paint with liberal application of CSC, but it appears most of this shit is superglued together.
What's the best way to separate glued parts without destroying them?
>>6060682
Superglued? If it's epoxy glue then your best bet is either knifing it apart until the glue cracks, or slightly wet the glue with some acetone, being careful not to damage the actual plastic
If it's cemented then you'll have to cut them apart
>>6060682
Any solvent that will attack superglue will attack plastic much worse. Throw the parts in the freezer.

When going for this kind of metallic color scheme, what should I do about the white? Is something like regular white shiny enough?
>>6061421
If you're talking about the first step in that image, that's just them using mr surfacer as a primer. It being "white" is not important at all.
>>6061425
I'm talking about the rest of the mech, like the legs or arms.
>>6058529
Should have used blue for the sword so Astaroth can be really feeling it.
Starting on my first non-Bandai kit for the group build. Wow... really makes me appreciate just how well-engineered Bandai's kits are. I've got mold flash, some ill-fitting parts, cheap-feeling plastic... good times.

Most non-Bandai kits don't snap together to make a well articulated fighting space robot either, lol.

lanky cunt, check out his air jordans SIKE NIGGA
head reminds me a lot of casshern a lot though
>>6061637
Well clearly they must.
Cheap little cute bears that easily appeal to the female demographic. Not exactly hard to see why they sell.
>>6061783
Paint looks good, details look good and the color choices look great. Solid WIP Anon.
>>6061905
Yeah, but... why do they pick these over all of the other more popular cutey girl things?
For anyone who has built the Muv Luv Terminator from Koto, how much of a pain were the digi-camo decals?
So this is the Helmwige's color.
>>6061942
Is good
You guys see this yet?
http://hobbynotoriko.yumenogotoshi.com/hg-ibo-flauros.html
Surprisingly, I do like the shape of the humanoid head the more that I look at it. I don't mind the pink all THAT much but that damned eye pattern on it...
>>6061942
Now that the color is confirmed, I want that kit more than before now.
>>6061890
Hey man that's OUR word
>>6061912
>digi-camo
>>6061942
That looks prettt damn good.
>>6061991
Yeah I realized after I posted the picture that I pictured the pattern wrong.
I got my large order of Converge figures in. This is my collection so far. I like most of them, but they can be hit or miss at times. I really appreciate the detailing in them for such cheap figures. My favorite so far (Neue Ziel hasn't arrived yet though) has to be the Hizack and Wing Gundam. Gigan and Grimoire are excellent too.
I'm a noob to Gundam so most of them I don't know much about outside their names. I'll look them up on the Gundam Wiki though. They have got me interested in watching the tv shows again I'll say that.
Your package should be there Johnny if you haven't gotten it yer, so says Amazon
>>6057731
it looks good! removing the nubs is gonna make it look a lot better. are you planning on painting it?
Will Gundam Marker destroy a Graze's inner frame?
Where is the list of paints that will destroy plastic?
>>6062143
>converge capule
cute
fucking cute
is there a leo
>>6062253
no paints destroy plastic, what you need to be careful of are ABS polycaps
>>6062257
Oh, I thought I saw some posts of paint just wrecking projects because it made the plastic brittle.
>>6062257
>no paints destroy plastic
Assuming you mean PS; bullshit, lacquers can destroy PS.
>what you need to be careful of are ABS polycaps
Polycaps are made of PE. Bandai sometimes uses ABS in their kits, but rarely will there be anything resembling polycaps on the sprue. Any oil based paints (enamels or lacquers) will damage PE and ABS.
>they're selling a combo with Freedom 2.0, Kira bust, and the really good stand that came with the Fenice R MG.
>They haven't started making that stand able to buy by itself so I have to buy this that has the extra shitty Kira bust with it increasing the price
>>6062274
Also, given enough time, some enamels can destroy PS.
Thank you, Amazon shill. What wonders will you bring us next?
>>6062274
PS? PE? redpill me on chemistry senpai
>>6062290
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyethylene
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polystyrene
>>6062290
PS is "polystyrene".
PE is "polyethylene".
ABS is "acrylonitrile butadiene styrene"
>>6062288
What model was on sale?
>>6062290
>redpill
You keep using that word, I don't think it means what you think it means
I'm poorfag in third world country
I'm trying to use nail polish to paint but this shit is way too thick
I've tried thinning it with acetone but it ruins both the nail polish and whatever it's applied on, be it primer or plastic
Would isopropyl alcohol work?
>>6062333
Alcohol is the go-to thinner of any poorfag
>>6062333
No, nail polish is a lacquer. It needs to be thinned with lacquer thinner or acetone. Both will make it horrible for brush painting. Isopropanol will not work.
>>6062336
besides the fact that you fucked up your retard message, do you really think amazon would pay someone to advertise to 40 mexicans who can barely afford 20 dollar toys
>>6062256
That would be awesome, but they haven't made Leo yet. I am hoping they make them though. I also hope they make these Gundam units:
>Sandrock
>Heavy Arms (Endless Waltz version is coming out soon though, pic related)
>Epyon
>Maganac (any of them)
>Shining
>Maxter
>Spiegel/Shadow
>Master
>Death/Dark Army
>Devil
KS anon here, both gifts arrived just fine. SoCal anon, your gifts should arrive on Monday.

nice kits tbqdesu
today I just started my first model after an impulsive purchase at local hobby store
and boy, I'm happy.
it's an A10 warthog, and I plan using it to hone my skills before the gunpla arrives
I barely begun and got stuck on a part wich I don't know where to fit and glue. should I put the rear thingy at the mark or the front thing? anyone got a clue?
>>6062437
>>Heavy Arms (Endless Waltz version is coming out soon though, pic related)
o lawdy
>>6062442
Good to hear. I kinda want to get a Dougram kit for myself now. Hope you enjoy the kits!
>>6062542
No, this is the right thread.
>>6062481
Not sure off the top of my head, but welcome to the thread and I hope you enjoy your BRRRRRRRRRTTTTTTT!
>>6062481
You have the right direction, both pieces tapers' are in the correct alignment but the orientation is wrong.
Try rotating the cockpit floor and wheel well tub until the cockpit floor is parallel with the underside of the nose.
Also wrong thread.
>>6062607
>but it's a plamo!
>(is it?)
Yes it is.
>>6062607
>(is it?)
No, don't listen to those idiots. They're trying to stir up shit because this thread came first and some scale model guys had a shitfit and made their own thread. Post it in here or post it over there, your choice. Ot fits both threads.
>>6062607
Plamo is superior Japanese plastic model.
>>6062607
I envy you, my Dad has no interest in models. We built some decades ago, but he's all about doing real work. Still, you two have fun!
I haven't watched gundam but i really enjoy building these
>>6062715
I have only watched Build Fighters/Try to completion. Most of my knowledge comes with suit wiki articles, and the few episodes of various series I have watched. Doubt you are alone.
Are tamiya tanks snap build like the gundams are?
>>6062728
Hahaha, no.
>>6062715
Honestly, imo some of the kits/designs are better than the story material from their respective shows. Some of the shows are really good though.
I watch the shows, but appreciate the kits more than the source material overall.
>>6062734
The 08th MS Team.
MG when?
this looks pretty cool
>>6062785
Fug, they're really making that rival concept into a real suit?
>>6062748
After devil gundam
Welp, first of the Graze Brothers is built, still need to do the paint apps on the accessories though.
>>6062814
Nice.
>>6062785
>thinking of buying the MA because robot no.701 is too repetitive
>>6061947
Although I really hate the anime, I really love some of the gundam designs in IBO.
Can't wait to get this.
>>6062143
I forgot about pacman scissorhands he should get a modern model.
>>6061769
>That Bikki figma
I... I forgot I had that. I guess I can pull out the rest of my joint stuff now that they have a few things to play with.
>tfw nabbed a second GM Command from HLJ
>>6062989
Did the restock this month happen already? I want my cheap G gundam kits.
>>6059225
Hoping the second package got to you safely, too!
>>6063079
>Your package was left near the front door or porch.
Not La Habra anon, but I hate when they do that. I can't wait for Amazon to start putting more lockers everywhere so I don't have to play "Did anyone swipe my package today?"
>>6061942
So base on colors would this be the grimgerde going incognito for Mcgillis? Also just imagine if this thing gets a 1/100 with that sword.
>>6061890
DAMNG DANIEL
>>6062350
>>6062437

This isn't a gunpla, it's a damn bludgeon
>>6062442
wow! a dougram kit as a gift, that's really cool. good taste anons.
>>6062912
yeah, honestly, I'm not in love with how the humans are drawn either, besides being lukewarm with the story at most parts but I'm loving all the side mech designs that Ippei Gyoubu is doing for the series.
Kimaris Trooper and Gusion are too fun.
>>6063269
I thought that was some sort of dildo at first.
>>6063358
Who says it's not?
>>6063358
Anything's a dildo if you're brave enough.
>>6063358
It provides thrust to aid entry. What, you thought the thin end went in first?
