I think Transformission is kinda like GT in that they use the same factories and some of the same design team or something.

I dunno, I want to be hype for this thing because everything does look really good but the scale really doesn't sit well with me. They're borderline MP scale but don't fit the MP aesthetic, plus I'm primarily a CHUG kinda guy so if it doesn't fit in that collection, I generally pass it up.

HasTak has proven by this point that they don't give enough of a fuck to pursue a lawsuit with any of these companies. Because of the legal loopholes in China law, it's a lot more trouble than it's worth to try fighting them, especially when 3rd party figures are such a niche market because of availability (not that they are scarce, they just aren't available at major retail outlets) and price point. They could try and they'd probably win but the payoff won't be enough to justify the legal costs and time spent. It's barely eating into their profits, if at all.

MP's are great, and I love having them in my collection (and the 3rd party MP-alikes, of course), but simple, fun figures tie into a very primative part of the brain.The Legends scale guys, in particular, are great because you can have a whole army of them, and most of them flip back and forth between modes in seconds. Even the Deluxes and stuff can (not always, but at least occasonally) on a really sound, fun experience.

Just because a "better" toy exists doesn't automatcally make the mainline figures bad.

In the fiction? It behaves like a vtol/hovercraft and can use the robot mode's hands. Specifically it can aim the rifle like in robot mode, as opposed to jet mode, where it's mounted under the fuselage and can only fire straight forward. If they've kept the loadout the same since the OG Valkyries, it also has access to light homing missiles, which do less damage but can make tighter homing maneuvers, as opposed to the jet's heavy missiles, which have the opposite trade off.

I got the combiner standing on one leg with one arm attached. The new ports are good because the limbs have to do fuck all but stay put. All the moving bits, including rotation and the joints are all on Ironshell's combiner pegs. The limbs bots just lock things in place and don't handle any strain of the joints, so all TFC had to do was shit out the torso and the entire thing is stable as far as the connectors go. They did a great job on the ratchets on Ironshell to boot. I really like how much he beefs out for the torso. The legs and feet crate a lot of combiner thigh mass and the cannon section hides fold out flaps to significantly fill in the torso extension and secure it in place. The combiner legs can achieve greater than 90 degrees of bend thanks to how the limb bots were designed so that the mass is all in the front and nothing gets in the way.

I'm not fond of the silver bits on the chest getting in the way of the arms unless you fold them all the way up, how the cannons can't really get 90 degrees of rotation down in any mode but turtle, and the forearm assembly of the robot mode being loosey goosey in how they don't secure and instead have a little give to them so you can flip the robot hands in and out. The shoulder's outward movement may be impeded depending on what bot is the arm.

It looks like Big Bite and Death Claw will be the best arms since they don't create an obvious gap. Deathclaw looks like the best stand alone too.

The fun part with this is the retaliation from Big West/Tatsunoko productions. When Harmony Gold tried to claim they have ALL distribution rights to the likenesses of characters and mecha from Macross outside of Japan, they were then forbidden from using the character and mecha designs in subsequent anime/comic adaptions, since those weren't covered in the contract. That's pretty much why all they can use in any further DVD films (if they ever make any more except to try and keep their rights from lapsing every few years) is variations of Mospeada mechs (the bastard child of Macross)

Got Trashtalk, Cogwheels, and Rearend from their recent sale and Trashtalk has red on his white parts that I can't get off, like the red dye from bled onto them somehow, and Rearend has sprue marks that were painted over and look kinda bad, plus I think his chest piece is missing some plastic on the bottom where his head passes through, unless they're all asymmetrical.

Found a local dealer sellling a set of unopened TFC Ares for roughly 220 dollars. My last attempt at completing a TFC combiner was the aerial bots and those were a really big disappointment. I'm iffy on TFC but I really like Predaking. How does this set compare to that?

Yeah the cockpit had me worried as it was a major issue with all the test shot reviews I'd seen. Apart from Bobo Skullface I've not seen any negative impressions of the final release though.

Lupus was either done by the B team or rushed. The non locking cockpit and no attempt to hide the face isn't what I'd normally expect from FT.

Put it back on the bust it came with. Not a whole lot you can do with it, you're right. Given the base mode is a little boring anywho, it's not a big loss to me. I do like that the alternate wings that come with the bust can split open into a U-shaped rail (to give an almost angel-wing like look if mounted on his back as such), but I prefer the more flexible / hard-angled version that Mastermade defaulted with (honestly just wanted the non-chibi head).

Shit. The proportions are entirely wrong but for all the right reasons. The additional beef to the design just works better even if inaccurate. Looks like they changed some engineering as the tires are no longer visible on the side of the torso as well. The other one with Gcreation's is impressive too because of how much it manages to hide and the art accurate proportions, but Generation Toy's headsculpt puts it to shame.

God tier robot mode. Has the typical IF "tight as a virgin" enough sort of tolerances that are scary. Especially the head. Not that the joint can't take it but if you aren't careful enough you could slip and hamhand the helmet horns which are a thinner plastic. Scorpion mode isn't much the write home about and it doesn't lock together like I feel it should, but the fanmodes really make up for it. If you're getting it its for the bot mode anyway.
