I bought Iona and was really happy with her detailed outfit. I personally love how such low accessories still mean so much to the character. Same goes for Haruna even with her greater customization.

The sculptor? I'm not well versed into this but I know some faceplates would not work on certain figmas unless you just do a headswap. I tried Miyo from Little Armory but her front hair piece restricted things and that part that holds the faceplate in the head wasn't always a good fit for the figmas I have.

And I'm not sure how well advised it would be to modify that piece to be as a sort of "one size fits all" sort of deal for faceplate swapping also. If the faceplate doesn't fit the head piece I wanted then the heads are being swapped.

Yeah, no.

Sometimes not even the same faceplate connector design fits correctly on another figure with that same design. I own every Saber released and the faceplates don't fit as nicely on the heads of different releases compared to the one they are included. And I'm talking about the Artorias before the 2.0 one here, the ones that should be 100% compatible. The two Neros had a different connector and Saber 2.0 is obviously different too.


It also happens with both Makise Kurisus. I own the first release and also bought the labcoat version later, faces don't fit as nicely between them and you need to force them.

Late reply - in fact I'd gotten absorbed by a part of the VN involving him - but I only have Gilgamesh coming this month as far as figma go.
I'm rather glad we get his full Fate/Grand Order looks over the Gate of Babylon, although, I believe he takes his stage 3 (Enkidu and unarmoured torso) look on in a previous Fate. Also, it's slight heresy but I really want to display him fully armoured with the hair down.
We can always get GoB effect parts with a casual Gil, maybe even the whine set as well. Either way the Nendoroid's GoB effect parts fit well.

Oh and I need an Izetta figma so I can have him play Gilgadad to her, like Fate/Zero's Berserker is Dadcelot to Shielder. Needless to say we need both Berserkers (and I'm surprised no one's made the Fate/Stay Night one out of figma Hulk as yet)

not him but his enemies usually tower him, guyver I stands around 1.7 meters in the manga. i don't know how tall IIF is, though, i'm not even sure/can't remember if she's at the same age as him, she's probably older (and thus making her a bit taller) but that's me talking out of my ass and maybe max factory simply fucked up these two.
probably figma guyver III will end at the same size as her, which will make sort of scale with I, since guyver III is taller than I in both armor and human mode.

as for the paint, i don't know what the fuck happened on that pic, mine doesn't look that badly washed, maybe it's the lighting in my room that makes it not look that bad, or maybe with my constant posing the wash got rubbed off and dissapeared, or i'm going blind.
for the other problems, the sculpt suffered a simplification between mass production and preview pics (something that happens always but in varying degrees), the most notorious fuck up is the forehead, which is protuding, whereas the manga is slim. there this pic pic in the futaba thread that shows it, they are problably disccussing what happened with him (i remember seeing someone fixing it, though it requires slicing the whole upper head, which is too risky for me).
and the cherry on top that made people mad was the mega smasher: the preview pics on guyver I showcased that his titties were going to be painted with a shiny yellow with a bit of green, but the in final product it was with a transparent silver one.

mix that and you got pretty much the general consensus on the guyver figma, not so great reception, and is even hated by some anons here.
mind you, i still like him even after people pointed out these flaws, but i can see why they were dissapointed, even more when there's the old figures max factory made 10 years ago, which they cost an arm now, but they still look fucking great

Guyver IIF should be slightly shorter than Sho in actuality. I'm wondering if they're pitching this figure at people who want to plug the hole in their Bio Fighter Max collection, she's way too tall.

i found this wikia that says that IIF is 181 cm; guyver III is 191, original guyver II is the tallest with 210 cm, and then we have guyver I, who is 174 cm
as far as i know i remember seeing an official pic of I stating that he stands around 170 cm so at least that is true, i'm not so sure about the others, but then we have this in the manga, and II was big when he fought sho at the beggining.
as of now, guyver I hasn't met IIF yet so we can't be sure how big is the height difference

Seeing the detailed drawings of the battle scenes and of course the more detailed story, it all makes the manga more worthwhile.

The anime, however, is no slacker. It's simpler, but still a worthy complement to the manga. If anything it made me want to know what the expanded version of the story is, though, I know for a fact that the manga goes beyond where the Ars Nova Cadenza movie ends.

Figma usually capture characters quite well, but re-creating full scenes is still something that's largely down to considerable custom work.

It's really awesome that such a deceptively simple, but important environment can be re-created almost entirely with the Arpeggio figma line! All you need is a printed out background. Even making the structures in 3D wouldn't be hard.

This. There are amazing figures that hit the bargain bin and had no business not selling out. The only reason they didn't sell out is because collectors WORLDWIDE can't fucking afford them anymore. 2017 (after May in particular) is looking to be much worse. I expect to see lots of great releases just shelf warm.

Of course this means prices will go up even more and we're likely to see $100+ bare bones figma soon and it will take 40-50% off discounts just to get them for a decent price. He's worth his weight in plastic, as well as all the detailing. And for Fate/Grand Order players there's extra value in that he can basically exist in his stage 1-3 look (although most don't want his armour without the red cloth)

I wish Shielder had gotten his treatment as much as it was possible. She gets some subtle, but sublime extra armour and a sword for her stage 3 equipment. 2.0 someday perhaps, she's just not AS popular as the King, understandably.

Objectively Gilgamesh is one of the best examples of a figma truly capturing a character, which is at least half, if not the whole point of the line.

Although, yes, objectively Figma Criminal* is just as worthwhile at its price. Subjective value can be higher since his weapons can be used with a wider range of figma for those that have many casual or everyday-life-dressed characters.

So I'm thinking about buying pic related pre-owned, since I've wanted it for a while now and it just popped up the other day. Problem is I'd prefer to get the updated 1.1 version (Better colurs, better eyes) which I haven't seen a trace of availability as of yet.

How do you approach pre-owned models? Should I get the one that I'm sort of happy with or just have patience and hope the one I actually want pops up in good condition?
