MP Grimlock 2.0 when

All they need to do is make him bigger and repalce bad gimmicks with good articulation

It's not like people wouldn't pay 200$ for a bigass GRIMLOCK
>>
>>6022285

I wouldn't worry about trying to color match them too much or anything, the traditional Transformers combiners all have weird clashing color schemes anyway a lot of the time.

More like $250-280 these days, if Meg's skinny ass MP is going for as much as it is.

Got these two beautiful bastards off ebay for $27 shipped. I'm glad to have the vehicon molds in other colors. Plus the matching Igus are fun and the mold can actually hold them with two hands with the stock resting on their shoulders, which is neat.

Man, they really didn't make enough use of these molds really. I would have bought these as basically any standard car bot. A new head and new colors, and maybe new chest and hands if they were feeling saucy, and I would have accepted it as like Sideswipe or Prowl or anybody really. Same with the FE version.

>>
>>6022358

>>
>>6022491
As a line it's a solid 7.
Better molds and variety but QC issues are everywhere.
Also Fort Max is awful for the cost, his alt modes are just terrible.
>>
>>6022488
That and there is 0 hints or news about anything coming after Brave Bruticus. By now there be hints, rumors and leaks of more on the UW line. It could be the end, which is completely believable Takara usully bails on a line after Hasbro does, its rare as fuck they will carry a line forward without Hasbro making it first.
>>
>>6022491

Molds themselves: 8/10. They're good on the whole, but theres also a few real stinkers in the line like Galvatron and that fucking awful cat-tape Legends figure.

QC though is a solid 4/10. Seems like EVERY figure has some sort of QC error. CW definitely had better overall QC.

I ended up ordering the MP Ratchet ocean decal set for this guy.
I like the toyhax set for him but for whatever reason they went for a red color for the labels that doesn't actually match Ratchet's red paint/plastic and it's been gradually nagging at me more and more.

That ocean set is a set of transfer labels though, correct? How do those work?
>>
>>6022546
Reximus prime fits the bill fine.
>>
>>6022513
I know, but they do have most of the work done for Leokaiser, They already have enough for Drillhorn, Hellbat, and Guyhawk (Guyhawk and Hellbat both using the Skydive mold for maximum accuracy to the combined mode). Killbison could be a modified tank mold or reusing the Takara Nosecone version of the Rook mold, but alter it a bit more so it can have the Anti-Aircraft cannons.

After that, they need:

-Segmented staffs for all of them (they might use an arms micron for this)
-Entirely new molds for Jaguar and Leozack and weapons
-Modified combiner ports so they can mount breast animals (or just use Arms Micron, again)
-And combiner weapons since Hasbro omitted the one's he's suppose to have

Hey, /tfg/.

I'm not a devoted fan of the TF franchise, but I grew up with BW and was wondering about the BAF Transmutate. I'm seeing it on EBay about $100, is it worth that much for the figure to own? I liked the gimpy potato-bot even it was just a one-shot character, if that helps.
>>
>>6022573
I don't know about $100 but it is expensive due to it being BAF, a very old release, and pretty much no other (proper) representations.

Check TFW or whatever's BST and see if somebody will sell you theirs.
>>
>>6022573
Not worth 100 bucks. Not worth 50.
Get the tfcc transmutate for thirty ish
>>
>>6022573
Nah, its one of those things that eBay marks up ridiculously. It was worth it picking it up with the individual components, and at the time they where some of the best versions of the characters to get. Maybe not so much now, which makes it harder to justify the purchases.

>>6022582

How would I go about making Transformerskino?
Based on my understanding, making references to relgion and psychological ideas is useful in that manner. Catholic references exist in things such as the Matrix of Leadership and the existance of a creator god, but the relationship of Unicron to Primus is one of a system of two forces instead of only a god and those which are in apparent opposition are simply manifestations of testing belief. Additionally, there are the idea of false assertion of religious roles, splits in factions over theology, and use of religion to control others and display hypocritical actions based on what they claim. Additionally, Unicron is commonly depicted as having dominion over forces named after the book of Revelations. Compounding these with the sentiment that God is all-powerful evil exists intentionally for a purpose not understood by those created and the possibility that God either does not actually actively intervene in favor of rather simply making the mechanics behind the universe or is dead with Primus being as a sphere seems also like a strong avenue. Finally, since they are depicted as a warrior race, understanding the difficulty of existing in peace could be explored. However, I don't know shit about writing so I have no idea how to tie these together into a strong narrative.

I would say look for the set this guy mentions >>6022841 It has CW Ultra Magnus (great figure except for his hands which don't hold his guns too well if you move him), Thrilling 30 Arcee (the first and best G1 Arcee figure, she's really an amazing figure), Thrilling 30 Springer (amazing figure), Kup (alright figure) and Blurr (his TR figure is better in terms of mold, but unless you get the Japanese version the TR Blurr has kind of a dull color scheme).
>>
>>6022842

Oh, and the TR Soundwave is alright. Honestly, save for the MP asia Soundwave reissue. It'll be expensive, but it is the best Soundwave around bar none.

As for Starscream, he hasn't really had a good G1-esque update in a while. Even his MP is kind of meh.
>>
>>6022822
BF sales are really hit or miss, I don't expect to see major sales, and the sales we do get will either be equal or worse than most of the one's we've already gotten.
>>
>>6022863

You can usually expect to see shelfwarmers go on deep discount though. Hence a good chance all of the G2 box sets, Vicky, CW Compy, and FortMax will go on sale.
>>
>>6022786
I dislike him due to a few things. I might like him if they were fixed, but as he is I just don't like him.
>>
Are the masterpiece ratchet/ironhide KOs around the same quality as the earlier ones like sideswipe and the datsuns? My MP collection is mostly official stuff with some of the repaints filled in, but even those are pretty solid.

Basically the van molds didn't do anything for me when they came out, and they still sort of don't, but I'm willing to give them a $30 chance if they're passable.

a woman I buy China KO's from on facebook has them in stock, and I asked her a bit about it. They are made by the same company (and labeled as such on the box) Takasa Tony, and she says the quality is exactly the same as their previous offerings, but with fewer QC issues like slightly off sized tabs, or paint marks.
>>
>>6022883

Out of those 6?

Liokaiser is probably the best, followed by CW Computron. The G2 sets have some mold issues/QC problems not present in the original releases. Liokaiser has a few problems too, but not as bad as the others from what I've heard.

None of them are outright bad sets though, just, not what most people are looking for.
>>
>>6022886
>>6022885

Thanks guys! $149.99 though, they look promising
>>
>>6022883
Superion and Computron are the most solid. Liokaiser and Victorion have the absolute most character by any means. Victorion sadly has two of those heli molds which have the port issue (although my vic hasn't shown any stress marks... yet) and G2 Bruticus is awesome, but they fucked up his symbols. Also don't pay that much for Liokaiser, he's cheaper about everyplace else right now.
>>
>>6022883
Personal experience:

Superion's the overall solid set, but many of the stickers and paint are prone to coming off when transforming it.

Menasor has a terrible torso, but the guy's components are decent enough. Grab it if you can get him for 40 on a TJmax.

Computron's nice, but the default configuration has trouble standing due to the way the feet connectors work. Individually, 4 figures are really good, Strafe's ok, and Nosecone pretty weak (great transformation, but low playability). Oh, and Strafe doesn't come with a weapon. Grab him if you can get him at 40-50, or just get the superior UW set.

G2 Bruticus has issues, so ignore him.

Victorion uses 2 helicopters, and that mold sucks as a hand or foot, not a big fan of the colors either.

Leokaiser is nice, but not really worth it.

Unless you HAVE to use Amazon, in that case go for it.

As for any other stuff, you should also consider adding Titans Return Hardhead to your cart. My personal favorite of Wave 1.

Rather than getting a Combiner Wars figure by itself, I think you're better off getting a full set. The Computron set might go lower but even at its current price it's a good deal.

So the Marshalls in my town has G2 Menasor sets for 39.99. What's the consensus on it? The only mold new to my collection would be Motormaster himself, but they do have MM and White Prime by themselves for 12 dollars as well. I do think the paint jobs are quite nice.

I have TR Hardhead and Blurr in my cart! Thanks! What are some other good G1 re-molds?
>>
>>6022951
What more do we need to tell you? You know how the molds are, and you probably already know Menasor is a terrible torso (Motormaster's a good figure by himself). It boilds down to how much you like the G2 colors.

Skullcruncher, as mentioned, is definitely worth the $10. He does have a hip and thigh swivel looseness QC problem thats well known, but that can easily be fixed with futureshine.

He also has probably my favorite altmode of the TR stuff.
>>
>>6022961
His looseness is pretty case-by-case. I never had to fix mine. Less fortunate is that I got one where the crappy soft plastic cover on the back wasn't closed properly before being packaged and the it basically deformed by the time I bought it from Walmart.

Well, Motormaster is one of the weaker torso bots. Not as bad as CW Skylynx, but he's still pretty weak on his own.

If you like the G2 colors though, $40 for the set is a good deal despite any shortcomings.

>>6022960

The reason the guy is saying they're screwing with you is because the Unite Warriors Computron set is basically better in every single way. Problem is it's both a Japanese release, and hard to get ahold of right now because it's such a good set it got snapped up quick as fuck.
>>
Really, what are Black Friday/Cyber Monday savings going to be like? Is it worth getting deluxes now for 10$? What about legends. specifically the newer ones like Bumblebee? Will they drop significantly?

I know you guys aren't psychic, but you've been in the game for longer than me.
>>
>>6022970
The UW set might also end up being up to 5 times as expensive depending on whether you can find a Computron at TJ Maxx / whether it goes on sale for the holidays.
>>
>>6022970
I just got the set for 139 on Ebay, you just need to know where to look.
>>
>>6022972
I can't imagine the TR deluxes going even lower. The CW box sets and CW/TR Leader classes will probably be cheaper.

Last year for Christmas, Amazon had blink-and-you-miss-it deals which included a Leader Thundercracker for $20, which is pretty impressive considering how this was a year ago.
>>
>>6022972
BF and CM are just going to clear up the old stock. You might see some figures cheaper, but I doubt those deluxes will drop more.

Figures that might drop further are:

-Legends figures that haven't sold out yet
-Blaster and PMOP
-Fortress Maximus (but I doubt he's getting lower than 105).

>That ocean set is a set of transfer labels though, correct? How do those work?
The sheet is comprised of three layers. A white, paper backing, the decal itself, and a clear plastic film. You pull the film off the paper and the decal will come with it. Then you position that whole piece over where you want it on the figure and apply pressure. Gently peel the film back and the decal will be affixed to the figure! Kind of like those temporary tattoos from when you were a kid.

I love Ocean's stuff. Very durable and they look great, close to an official tampograph in most cases. I bought this set for Smokescreen because I love race cars plastered with sponsors decals. I also bought a few sheets of different sized badges, because you never know when you'll need a spare.

Aren't those things that can be true of all figures? including the hasbro version?

I will say though, I'd rather paint be used strategically rather than loosely (I'd rather universe prowl had white plastic doors with painted windows rather than the opposite for example.)

But that's because they barely have a paint budget (I never thought I'd see someone using that as a positive) for there to be paint to scratch, and of the takara figures I own, I've not had any major issues (But my hasbro Ironhide and Silverstreak are real sights to behold in that regard).

In terms of stress marks, I again cannot report anything major (the worst would be the CW helicopter mold, but that issue is true of all versions, and I took steps to prevent it) and it would seem thats a major issue on the TR Weirdwolf version (some outright broken even) whereas my legends weirdwolf is fine, no stress marks at all.

>>6023074
So? it's still true of all figures, that issue is more on the owner than the figure, and it's no issue with me.

Lets start a debate, purely subjective, but I wish to see people's opinions on the matter.

>asthetics and matching sets

As I assume, many here would have an mp10, as I again, ASSUME (but not know) many may want a megatron to fight him, but there has been a shift with mp's as of late and while mp's onwards from mp10 have retained the following qualities

>toy throwbacks including color aplications
>real world alt mode aesthetics where possible
>great character likeness

But what we're seeing thanks to mp red alert anime edition, inferno and onwards is takara making the mp line based on 2 of the 3 subjects, namely real world aesthetic and anime accuracy with a large chuck going towards anime accuracy to a rather painful degree, to the point where megatron *almost* looks like he's just come to life where's mp10 just looks like an amazing stylized toy, a collectable adult toy but a toy none the less.

My question is, would you rather your mp10 to match up with something that matches with him better such as mightron from dx9 (at least from the front he looks like a better match with the straight lines and minimal straight up anime likeness), or would you rather grab what takara is dishing out in name, brand, loyalty and because the difference in design style doesn't bother you so much?

As for me I'm going takara, but I can't help but feel dx9's would better suit aesthetically, at least from the front, gun mode partially fails but considering prime's legs in truck mode they kinda match, in my opinion.

Personally i'm not a fan of the super 80s cartoon accurate toys in most cases.

I definitely get the appeal, but I prefer either a more robotic stylized look or a more toy look in most cases.

Not to the trashy level of the movie stuff, but like your example, Mightron is my personal favourite megs. And i love the WFC/FOC looks way more than G1, all just personal though. Bottom line is usually just what seems like the best quality and most fun product.

That's pretty how they do character names these days. They se the Japanese name in their language, and have the English name in English, and Baldigus/Ruination breaks that pattern for some reason.

baldigus=g1 Ruination=RID saban

And most G1 combiners shared the same color scheme in all the different regions. G1 defensor was not really any different from G1 guardian than maybe stickers.

Ruination is almost completely different color than baldigus. He barely matches the tv.
>>
>>6022303
I can't see them doing a 2.0 when the current figure is more than good enough and there are so many other characters that would sell better.
I assume a MP Blaster might happen as a rival to Soundwave, and he'd come with a selection of tapes as well.
Also, 1986 movie characters like Galvatron and Cyclonus are strong possibilites since Rodimus Prime needs and adversary and so does Magnus.

If you want a bigger Grimlock just pick up a Reximus Prime, it's pretty darn good.
>>
Will Takara ever do a 2.0 grimlock?
>>
>>6023275
>>6023277

During cybertron con the takara guys during an interview mentioned they had interest in both mp gestalts(specifically bruticus) and the dinobots.

What they do is unclear, but if they do the dinobots they'll either do a dinobot 2.0 in a bigger scale with more complexity or they'll go straight into the other dinobots, the fact is mp10 changed how the line worked and grimlock was made before any consistency was set to stick, he is near perfect otherwise

>mp blaster

I'm a bit wary on this, I have the hasbro soundwave inbound but knowing takara they'll split up his cassette buddies with one being exclusive to his twincast repaint.

Galvatron and his minions WILL happen, dunno when, but they would happen, I would suspect next year since we've had 2 mid sized mp's along with a large entry, they need some smaller guys now to break things up.

mp hoist/trailbreaker/jazz/huffer when?

(what are some small decepticons they can do because all the smaller ones are always bloody autobots)

Tak might have a hard time in the markey due yo the saturation of dinobots.

>>

They need to break the race and lay down some "new" concepts 3p's seem to miss, popular characters like leaders I understand but they seem to be chasing 3p's skirts.

I'm actually beginning to think of a conspiracy theory in which all 3p's are actually prototype mp designs that takara ended up ditching and they got a hold of them or being contracted to 3p's in secret just so a "useable" design can make a profit on the side.

Where's muh seeker fags at?

Ok, you guys trying to get the trio like I am or just the one you like the most out of the cone heads?

And if they decide to do a mp seeker 2.0, as in a NEW tooling, what changes would you like?

>jet cones compress into body better preventing dick jet syndrome
>face plates for expressions with specific seekers having specific faces to add character flavor
>the ability to kneel one one knee ie better leg poseability
>POSEABLE flight stands, no more 3 angle bullshit

Thoughts fellas?

You mean 3.0?
The garbage we have now is our 2.0.

I mostly agree with that you said, the one and only thing I really want those is better feet. I really dislike the weird high-heels with no poseability and they're the only reason why I haven't bought any seeker other than Starscream.

How many TM do you guys have at this point? I'm already at 40, and I don't even have wave 3 yet.
>>
>>6023315
I don't even count the current as a 2.0 but an extensive retooling of >>6023316, while its an improvement from the front it does leave them as somewhat useless.

Dramatic arm poses are nifty but its boring when their very wings and the limited leg movement hurt any other poses, then you got the rear which is ugly.

The feet on the current design is a step up, functional, better than the previous, but could be better, clearly they knew the jet mode was fine and were reluctant to change that so they opted to retool it to death

>>6023316
Thing with that one is it had multiple expressions and a cleaner jet mode, there has to be a way to merge those into a new seeker mold, surprised they didn't try having the sword scabbards just accordion into the side of his legs bulking them up while keeping the sleeker jet profile
>>
>>6022985
That's pretty cool then, hopefully I can finally settle on a decal set for my mp ratchet with those.

I really dislike the official decals I think they're complete garbage (though ironically, there's a paint chip on his left shoulder that the official decals would hide so eh) and like I said, I like the toyhax sheet but it kind of does it's own thing.
The ocean eness labels look great and look like they just picked up where the official deco left off.

I really hope that an eventual MP blaster would handle the cassettebots in a better way than Soundwave.

At worst, I hope MP blaster would come packed with one cassettebot and then later they would release 4 others as a fourpack for like, 70-80$.
Obviously I'd prefer it if it were Blaster and 5 cassettes but considering this is Takara I'm trying to be realistic.
>>
>>6023339
Most likely one will come with him and then 2 pack the rest.

They would otherwise go over the price of mp10 in their market, dunno how hasbro got away with their soundwave, still boggles my mind
>>
>>6023340
I'm not terribly familiar with manufacturing costs but there's no way a typical soundwave and 5 cassettes would cost more than like 20$ to make.

I just imagine that Hasbro was more comfortable with a smaller markup than Takara was.

I would rather they go back to their old guidelines instead of what they're doing now. For the most part, MPs used to be about taking the cartoon design and making it into a great toy. Now it's about making a toy that looks exactly like the cartoon design, no matter what.

>>6023260
Not at all. MP-10 is hardly show accurate (which is a good thing in my opinion). It was generally based on the show's model, but it has all kind of compromises that separate it, and honestly make it look better, like the shape of the windows, the size of the head, the vents on the legs (which were gray on neither the show OR the original toy. It just looks better, so Hasui took creative license. Imagine that!),and pretty much the entirety of its vehicle mode. All of the cars being licensed was always against show accuracy, especially with cars like Bumblebee and Wheeljack. Wheeljack's paintjob in particular is a slap in the face to a lot of cranky geewunners.

>translucent wings on Wheeljack nobody wanted
I won't say I wanted them, but I like the way they look, and I'm not going to throw a tantrum over them not matching the show. I never even assumed this would be an issue with people.
>>
>>6023348
Thin translucent plastic on pin joints is always an issue.
>>
>>6023348
Makes me wonder, who the fuck designed mp36?

Couldn't of been hasui could it, it goes against his mission statement
>>
>>6023349
I've transformed the shit out of mine and they're fine. I've not heard a single story about them actually breaking.

>>6023350
Kobayashi, I think? He's taken over MP duties since Ultra Magnus.
>>
>>6023350
The design and engineering on him looks really solid, it's just the deco that's the problem.

After Autismo is out I really hope they do an MP styled version with a silver body and actual details tampo'd on to him to break up all the flat.
>>
>>6023350
A genius who realized the masterpiece line should be for show accurate toys instead of made up new designs.

Making up new designs is what Classics is for.
>>
>>6023356
We've been getting show accuracy for the entire line, it wasn't until recently that show accuracy started to mean being accurate to low quality korean slave labor.
>>
>>6023362
Exactly, so quit bitching the line's show accurate since it was ALWAYS about being show accurate.
>>
>>6023352
>since ultra magnus
So he's the one who designed mp UM?

I mean, that thing is beautiful, so much I accepted his delta magnus repaint as a cheaper replacement, but to go this far?

>>6023353
Deco and face design are my primary issues but being a human face means it'll be subject to personal opinions, no one would be happy with everything it's done

>>6023356
>show accuracy
You can't realistically make a good toy solely based on an animation model that's inconsistent, mp10 is the perfection of what an mp should be, right down to his back.

Because lets face mp36's back is fucked (and inaccurate), I agree new designs should be for classics/generations/legends, but for mp's it should only have the show as its guide, not its rule.

He could of been in silver, he could of had a regular faction logo, he could of had a stern but more generic robot face so neutral no one could debate it much like the mp cars, as the other anon said its mostly the deco that's the problem and even just having him in silver at this point would perfectly blend in what mp10 had going.

Real world alt mode accuracy (megs has this), toy throwback (he just needed silver paint and he'd be perfect) and a great character likeness.

My point I guess for the TLDR is they needed to dial back the animation accuracy and have more neutral ground

>>6023362
Well to be fair inferno and grapple are works of art, dat ladder fold is something even 3p's couldn't and STILL can't do (although to homage the old toy you'd need the ladder exposed, but least its clean)

>>6023365
Its just getting to the point where things are getting sacrificed for the accuracy
>>
>>6023362
Exhibit A of this would be MP Inferno. If he had come out earlier in the MP line, he'd probably look more like MMC Backdraft, but maybe with the ladder still disappearing. Coming out now? He's Bland: The Robot, with bonus parts to make him even more bland and less detailed.

He does.

And Japan has NO reason to compromise the design, when you think about it. Who's nostaligic for the toy (which looks nothing like the character design in question)? Takara's admitted in interviews that's why they always lean show accurate in decos and color schemes: the G1 cartoon isn't just something that was made in the 80s and forgotten about-- it was in constant circulation on VHS, on Laserdisc, on DVDs.

Compromising the design only caters to idiots like >>6023378 who isn't in Takara's market anyway and clearly has no interest or love of the character design in the first place.

This. I'm not pre-ordering MP-36 on a gamble that they will do a "proper" one. If not, I'll just pick up Despotron, who actually looks pretty great alongside MP-10, since they both follow the same path of being based on the show, but not oppressively beholden to it.

>>6023356
Honestly they should just make a line of non-transforming figures to be 100% show accurate, because requiring them to transform is always going to mean compromise, and geewunners will ALWAYS bitch that some random part of the figure's anatomy isn't EXACTLY the way it was in the cartoon (even though the cartoon was inconsistent with itself). It's my experience that the ones who bitch about cartoon accuracy the most are also the people who put the figure on a shelf and never transform it, so why bother? Sell a cartoon-accurate, super-articulated figure and package it with a non-transforming version of its alt. mode as well.

>>6023378
Agreed. I actually dropped my pre-order for him once they announced Grapple, who looks a hundred times better, anyway. Plus, I've got enough red autobots.
>>
>>6023369

On mandarake cheapest I've seen is 11,000yen, 9000yen on amiami for awhile, then shipping.

I got mine for $150aud free shipping (delta magnus) so fuck the original, I skipped UM because of his price and because I wasn't that attached, but knowing DM's history and the fact he can double as a magnus I thought why not, he truly is amazing

>>6023383
Good points actually.

I guess I just liked what mp's brought when I first encountered them, a mix of both toy accuracy and animation looks, from prime and ultra magnus being able to seat people (diaclone), ultra magnus having the "inner robot" face under his own, the deco job on the mp cars especially with mp red alert before the anime+ edition came and ruined it, yes the hasbro versions dialed up the toy accuracy on their end but what they did in deco they couldn't take away from in design (especially how the cars came as is with just warning tampo's on them).

The face is stern but I...have taking a liking to dx9's mightron face, something is generic yet still says megatron, and takara's megatron actually looks like he benefits from having his alt faces on (admittedly I love the laughing face), now that I think about it I don't...ermreally know what I want with the face, the deco being made silver would of shut me up now that I think about it, derp

>>6023384
I think there was a 3p prime being made that would go well with that despotron, dunno who's making it but while both are stylized they're still quite different.

Still despotron is the cleaner 3p megatron

>>6023385
Its a 2 way compromise, one that truthfully I've known since mp05.

Not only does it give show accuracy but its an excuse not to paint it, after handling mp05 the scratch marks are a reminder cooating complex toys in metallics isn't always the better idea, my cw megatron is the exception and he's my fiddler

In Inferno's defense, he's only very loosely based off a real world vehicle and a lot of detail that would be on a fire truck such as steps, consoles and valves and such have to be removed due to his transformation.

But if they weren't going for korean animation accuracy lately then there could have been more grey and chrome detailing on him instead of just white to help make it look like a real world vehicle and fit in with the other MP vehicles.

>>6023419
TFW and most dedicated sites/forums are mostly 30+ year-old geewunners, so this is right up their alley. They're the kind of people that pissed and moaned over MP Sideswipe's chest being an actual lamborghini hood, because it made it too wide to look EXACTLY like the cartoon. Despite the fact that it's still an excellent toy.

That's really all this argument is. People who want a high-quality, good-looking toy, vs. people who want stuff to look like a Korean toy commercial, no matter what.
>>
>>6023430
What, in your mind, is a "weird design compromise"? Wanting them to use the proper Decepticon badge instead of an animation error? To my knowledge of those toys you listed, none of them are embracing the negative aspects of their original animation nearly to the extent that the MP line has begun to. Especially since most of those toys are cheaper, retail stuff.

Also, you're overlooking the fact that all of those toys set their own precedent, while recent MP releases are going against 5+ years of toy designs that were generally more flexible and inclusive.
