Yeah, waiting it out does usually mean you'll get them for MSRP (or less). But if you're quick in paying attention to the specialty sites (BBTS, TCP, etc) you'll be able to preorder it.

The issues with the coneheads aren't mold degradation, but rather QC issues, they fucked up the assembly on most if not all ramjets, at best the wings "snap" every time they're folded, at worst the wings can't tab in as the tabs are installed incorrectly, mine was also missing a shoulder cover meant for the mp11 cape so he has a big gap in there and he has a chip on his nose, other than that mine works.

Compared the thrust though he ain't mega tight like my hasbro sunstorm he does the job splendidly without untabbing due to a shake test (and I mean gently not toy test levels) and can hold a pose provided his heel spurs are catching, his wings are fucking heavy.

I honestly think you're in for a hit or miss, can't be as bad as the hasbro starscream, the chest on mine requires extreme force to be pulled apart to let the canopy slide down, I suspect the hasbro molds may be suffering from mold degredation since my acidstorm, thundercracker and sunstorm do better than my starscream, but takara seems to be doing something different

I say if the price is right go for it, there are bootlegs out there as well but some are worse than others, I would honestly think you'd have a better chance with the mp11 reissue.

With the TR version the Dragon heads are stuck in a bicep curl position. With the RID version they don't have to have the arms positioned in odd ways for posing. Just look at his arms compared to the TR one. Yeah I wish it had wrist swivels, but it least they aren't stuck in a curling position.

He has a swivel up top at the arm unless I'm mistaken (looking at reviews of him), so his head-hands can be oriented in any position, but the default (even on the G1 toy) was the heads to the side (white part out) and the hands used sort of like crab claws.

is LG Weirdwolf known to have the same hinge cracking issue as the TR version? Everyone I see talking about the issue has the TR version and I don't see many people with the LG version.

I don't have any LG decepticon headmasters yet because I'm worried I'll just get a fucked up Weirdwolf that'll be impossible to easily replace.

Paint apps is all they have going on and that's to the fact Takaras market is. It's smaller and harder to sell to.
Usually if the toy is better it's thanks to a long delay between the Hasbro release to the Takara release but even then they can make some poor choices.
If you live in a location we're cost is close to the same it's understandble to lean to Takara, but most places it's a fools gamble to end up with the same product or worse with just a touch more paint but for double the cost.

I got 2 right arms on mine but no breakage on the hinge. I complained about it on HLJ and they gave me a $7 store credit.
