Challenges:
>Make a scene showing your sigfig enjoying Thanksgiving with family (or at least trying to).
>With the release of the Beatles Ideas set, try making your own music-based build!
>Build a themed display stand for your minifigs!
>Make an advent calendar for whenever Christmas rolls around.
>Make some delicous plastic thanksgiving food.
>Depict a scene from life in Burgerland after the impending apocalypse (i.e., after the Presidential election)
First for meme Journal.

It's the universe telling you to relive the past that never was.
Do you think Yellow Submarine will be in stock until, say, December? I want to get it as a gift for my mother who's a big Beatles fan and her birthday is in December but I don't want to buy this now.
Hey guys. I use to do a Christmas giveaway every year but haven't in the past few due to money reasons.
Kind of in the mood to try and run something this year. I was thinking a /lg/ Secret Santa.
$20 minimum. You pick if you will ship overseas or not. Gifts could be a MOC, part packs, sets (opened/sealed), custom parts, anything LEGO related.
You'd provide a list of what type of LEGO you're interested in(Technic, Bionicle, City, Space, Pirates...) could include specific parts/sets/figures that you'd might like. Obviously your address and if you'd ship internationally.
Just throwing the idea out right now. If I get enough interest by Friday I'll open up my email to submissions and start.

Torso, head, loin cloth and coronet are from Arealight customs, I bought some unprinted trans clear minifig "blanks" from ali express, and just used the legs, arms and hands from them.
Rest is lego.
>>6001190
Nice! I always have this inner debate about whether I like NIN or Cash's version's best
>>6001206
The live versions from NIN are especially good and emotional (especially the older ones, from like the old closure VHS set), but I think Cash for sure made it his own.
Added to the impact by having it be one of the LAST songs and videos he ever did. HELL OF A WAY to go.
>>6001205
oh nice. Never heard of them, thanks for the info.
Only twi'lek I have is Hera from the Ghost set.
>>6001206
I used to like the cash version more but the NIN original grew on me a lot.
I'm bored at work so I made a thing.
>>6001214
Yeah, Arealight specializes in Twi'lek parts, only thing is, the torsos are curved, and I know a LOT of people have issue with that sadly.
I think they are beautiful.
>>6001221
hmm. .. I honestly sorta wish that lego would do that, but I also like my basic minifgs to have the same cut. idk, I'm torn.

>Which is the most sexual minifig
>>6001886

>>6001884
thanks mate
i tried a version with suicide doors that face outwards, but to accommodate them i had to visually raise the beltline of the vehicle a bit, so i think i prefer the backwards doors to the forward-facing suicide ones
>>6001886
>train tatoo
I always though it was a tie fighter
>>6001895
The beltline is honestly one of the biggest difficulties I have with making Lego cars, partly because of the minifigs' tiny height and proportions. I hate using the 2-brick high doors because those are way too tall unless you boost the figs up a plate inside, but one brick high doors look like rubbish if you've got other plates under them- and I like having figs sit side by side so that requires at minimum a 4-wide plate in the middle with jumper plates and the outside 2 can't be any taller or else the figs won't fit.
What a mess. It's almost convinced me to take a crack at 7/8-wide vehicles but those are just so disproportionate to everything else at Lego scale.
>>6001903
I can't imagine getting two minifigs to sit side-by-side and getting the car to look proportional. I started with LDD yesterday making 4-wide cars like pic related, so I was hesitant about even going to 6-wide. 7 you might be able to do some exotic-looking stuff with a single-wide nose in the middle (a la the Enzo or La Ferrari or Enzo), but 8 seems almost impossible.
>>6001144
Looks like they need a new helmet mould for the antennas. I doubt it since they apparently won't make a seventh sister fig and that was a main villain, not a villain of the week.
Wish they would do some though. Oh well, worst case I am just buying 4 or 6 bootleg Prototype Bobas.
>>6001768
Castle maid with printed rack
>>6001886
the symbol is actually two male symbols combined and he has two penises and four balls
>>6001873
Any other feedback for my 6-wide sports car? Thanks. :3
>>6002006
And here I thought it meant he goes both ways
>>6001924
You offset the minifigs by half a stud so their arms don't fully overlap, like this.
Lego themselves use 6-wide for trucks and such in the City line and have used it for standard cars as well (the Ford in the old Harry Potter set was the first time they did, IIRC). The whole Speed Champions line is also 6-wide, albeit single-passenger with 4-wide unique sloped windshields.
7-wide I've seen some good stuff from, i.e. Ferraris like you named, and 8-wide is used by Lego/approved Ideas sets for stuff that's more standalone display cars- the Ghostbusters Ecto-1 (old and new) and the DeLorean. Definitely not in scale with anything else.
>>6002041
>>6001878
there's a set with her and a mech, a nice car and a cyber doggy, should I get it?
>>6001880
>no nipples or at least a bikini
tf is this bs
>>6002044
Different wheel sizes come in handy, too- those smaller, thin wheels that exist (bigger than the 2-stud-wide ones) are fantastic for vehicles (and line up at exactly 4 studs if you use the 2x2 with extended axle piece), but for some reason Lego NEVER fucking uses them on minifig vehicles, only on smaller stuff, and instead uses the same xbox huge chunky wheels they've been using for decades.
>>6001886

>>6002006
so he's basically a super man! damn, we got it all wrong
>>6002044
That seems pretty in minifig scale to me
Though I base my idea off of their width because they are just short fuckers
idk what the "proper" way to determine minfig scale if there is one
>>6002047
That version of her doesn't have her iconic ripped up shirt and and spiky choker.
>>6002055
Agreed, the low-profile tires almost always look better than the chunky ones, except for like trucks and off-roaders.
>>6002044
>>6002087
The scale on that Ferrari ain't all that bad. At seven studs it's pretty damn wide, but then again, so is the source material. Exotics are always wide and flat, iirc the Aventador is the widest production car on the road today. I would just prefer four or six studs of width to better fit on the Lego roads if I ever make a proper city.
>>6001982
I have a question, do custom printed bricks reach "equal" quality compared to original lego printed bricks? I'm worried their prints will just go away with time
Behold: a three-wide car chassis. Proof of concept, do with it what you will.
>>6002109
Ooh, that's neat.
>>6002103
probably depends on who's printing them and how but yeah.
I have citizenbrick minifig parts that are as good as Lego.

Also is it possible we could make a discord server that's just Lego? I'm sure the Bionicle one doesn't suck but I think we should have our own Lego General server
Going to the lego store today
What should i get, aside from a journal?
>>6003126
I think I have that one, or at least my sister did. There's nothing wrong with having both groups share a discord since there's already a large amount of overlap and the community is smaller than I expected. There's a System General channel and Bionicle General Channel, and multiple other channels that both sides can use since their independent.
It's a transitional period but it seems to be going in the right direction.
Planning on making some Lego Stunt Rally minifigs. Ordering parts to make Sid Savage, Glacia, and Brad Speedo.
Wondering whether or not to go with Radium or Mage Hurtz for the fourth baddie though. Of the two, which sounds better? A hazmat guy with a Palpatine head, or a Lego movie robot head on a protocol droid body?
>>6003129
alright then, I just hope we can get more Lego fans in there because (from my limited experience at least) a lot of people only like BIonicle, which is fine, but I like Lego as a whole
>>6002936
Don't forget, when an ebay listing describes a lego set as "rare", what that really means is that it hasn't been on shelves for over five years.
>>6003143

>>6003160
Totally thought that was real for a second.
And i don't necessarily agree with that anon on ebay or other local secondhand (internet) marketplaces. Bricklink tends to have more consistent fair pricing and quality control than ebay and it is a great place for when you need a very specific selection of bricks and for a price check whenever buying anything lego (I often found lots where just a few bricks in it already justified the price of the total for me).
But people that sell off their old lego on bricklink and don't know what pieces are rare and just want to get rid of stuff quickly can occasionally get you a really sweet deal if you know your lego well.
Whenever i'm looking for someone I first browse local ebay-style sites for people selling stuff in my city (so i can maybe pick it up myself and save shipping costs/fuel) then pricecheck on cracklink.
It's also usually cheaper with the former way because i don't end up with a hundred other loose cool printed pieces i apparently ALSO needed.
>>6003205

alright /lg/ i really like set 75875 and the hot rod is amazing, and im contemplating getting it, however this 'raptor' looks nothing like the real thing apart from the colour, are there any alternative builds that look better, or even just a way to lower the whole model so it looks closer to the real thing?
>>6003373
Haven't looked too much at it myself, though I'm considering the set.
But it should be very simple to either remove the suspension or move it around to make it lower, if all else fails, you could always rebuild it as something else.

>>6003291
It's like the squeak-hammer version of Mjolnir.
I approve of this.
>>6003301
Too bad you can't brasso the LIGHT print off.
>>6003512
They're prints?
Interdasting, I like that kit but haven't bought it because I thought it had a million stickers.
>>6003501
Passion, knowledge, the ability to keep up with new stuff. We don't have Lego stores in my country, but my colleague is guaranteed a job at Lego, should she wish to take it. (it is part time, so she is not interested)
I think any set collector/Builder in this thread, who isn't a total sperglord, could get a job with them if tried.

Yup!

Thinking about asking one of those custom part printers to put "HECKA" on some blank ones
So we actually are gonna get the Joker with his coattails. Holy shit they are long.
Also new trailer dropping tomorrow.
>>6003518
The set also has a new instrument cluster printed 2-wide cheese wedge, rather than a sticker, which I really like.
All in all, I really like the Rally Car set. I just wish more of the 6-wide City cars had working doors with hinges, rather than the fat, immobile body panels.
>>6003512
>removing the text on the rally lights
Why would you do that?
At the very least one Rally Car means you can cannibalize the front clip to make rally versions of at least one other vehicle you have.
>>6003518
Yeah, they're prints. Four on the car plus one extra, unique to that set.
The instrument cluster >>6003573 mentions is cool too, and also in a few other new City vehicles (the minivan and tow truck, I think?).
So, first real shot at making a larger-scale girl than what I normally do.
Torso's a modified version of a design Zemata used on one of his builds, for those wondering.
Those arms went through so many different versions, it isn't even funny.
And a quick height comparison to the other bee girls.
I think I might take a break from building girls after this; might be good to try out stuff that isn't miniature Not-Mad Max cars or girls for a change.
>>6003632
it is NoVVember. You could build yourself a Vic Viper.
>>6002867
This set's white wheels (the ones look like Enkei RPF1's) are also unique. I subbed them (as well as the printed dash and louvered wedges) into my Race Car (60053), which I think looks dope.
>>6003643
There's another City set with a maroon pickup and a police pursuit car; the police car has grey versions of those wheels. The car itself is pretty similar to the Rally Car, too.
>>6003620
Oh man, nice job. Reminds me of the bee family I did way back. I must say yours is much, much more elegantly done.
I think I can emphasize with your arm problems.
>>6003648
Are there any other smaller sets that have the dedicated spoiler piece from that police interceptor? I guess I could always bricklink it...
>>6003639

As in ZoE Vic Viper? Because this one was made only recently and it's really good. This guy makes lots of cool mechs.

I've had these damn series 9 Mixels on backorder now for almost a month and it's really starting to frustrate me.
Is Europe experiencing issues getting the newer Mixels in or something? I've not seen anyone here in the UK selling them online, bar the occasional independent seller charging absolutely ridiculous mark-ups.
>>6004007
Are you in the US? Here in northern IL I've seen them at 2 walmarts, 2 targets and a lego store

Anyone else ever have lego ship a parcel to you twice?
I got out of bed this morning to receive a bricks and pieces order...that I already received two days ago. Called customer service, they say they don't do returns, and can keep it as "a gift from lego to you".
50$ of random parts for building attack scarabs and pumpkin mechs. Went from 5 scarabs and 2 mechs to 10 and 4.
Why is lego so nice?

Bro in 2012 I ordered the modular Monster Hunter mansion, the Creator Town Hall and Emporium, plus some train tracks and road base plates.
5-6 weeks later tracking has basically bot moved beyond the national parcel sorting centre so I emailed to ask what the status of my order was and the company replied straight away to say they thought the order had been lost en route and they'd dispatch the same $800 AUD order that day. A week later the doorbell went in the morning with my fresh order.
I started building and 3 hours later there was another knock at the door. It was DHL with my original order. Lego are fucking amazing

I almost never comment, but feel this is pretty important. Like so many, I grew up with classic castle, inheriting the first sets from an older sibling and taking over with forestmen and the black knights era. My "dark ages" took me through the end of the 90s and it took Vikings to bring me out of it.
What seems missing in these discussions, and what Lego seems to no longer value, is that imagination is more than just throwing bricks together and blowing things up. Sometimes, it means connecting to new subject matter through play. For me, Lego was the catalyst for my love of history, and the hours I spent building castles and western forts and pirate ships genuinely fed a passion that has endured into my adulthood and informed my approach to the world and the work that I do. I really do owe so much of that to little plastic bricks.
Which makes all of this distressing. Nexo Knights aren't, in themselves, some grand evil, but they are another symptom of a broader disease -- Lego has clearly shifted away from being a medium through which children can explore ideas that connect to the real world. Creativity, for all of Lego's marketing to the contrary, sometimes does require context, even at the risk of not appealing to a particular region or target market. Like so many of you, I am a father myself now, and it's particularly tough knowing just what my young daughter is missing. It's a bit sad to think of what Lego COULD do given the molds and colors available today, not just for castle, but for long-dreamed-of themes like Romans, etc. how easy could it be to develop a time travelers theme and hit so many incredible areas...
Anyone agrees?
>>6005476
OH MY GOD
>>6005551
I hear ya anon. I can see your point. Lego has gotten me through dark times as well and fed my facination towards sci-fi (I got many space sets before being mainly invested into Bionicle). I still have a poster on the wall that has 2003 showing us the year where we have massive spaceships and colonies among the stars (the lego sets obviously) and as a little kid born in 1990 I was so excited for such an age to come. But as time passed I had to face reality that we are nowhere near that (still waiting on my jetpack 1950's), still, I enjoyed learning about the universe that we hopefully one day explore (even if I'm medically not fit to be sent up with our current methods or I'll be long dead in the future).
As for the time travel theme, that would be a great idea, they could even bring back older themes too like Adventures or Vikings, heck even Exo Force as a flash of the future type of thing too.
>>6005551
I can see your point, and to a certain extent agree with you, but can't help but feel that like so many others, your statement comes down to 'why can't Lego do X for me'. Yes, Lego could birth new molds and themes that fit whatever era you'd like, and that could potentially be amazing (who doesn't want new parts, after all). But in the absence of that, -and since you've determined there to be a problem- I believe that the onus is now on you to create such worlds for your child to explore.
Yes, creativity is not without context. But given your context of different eras of time, you can exercise your creativity in designing play elements that represent any era you choose. Past and present, the variety of Lego elements is simply astounding, and can allow you to do so.

Not really sure. Lego torsos always come with the arms already attached since they can be a little hard for children to swap out. Not only that, but it can damage or crack the torso piece and make the joint loose. But i dunno, maybe they could have the cape pre-assembled.
It wouldn't be the first time Lego makes a part that existed before as a fan project, the vespa body comes to mind.
>>6005551
TL;DR ver
"I don't like thing"
Lego still does things like realistic deep divers, pirates, cops, firefighters, space etc. If anything, everyday architecture and vehicle design became way more realistic than back in the day. Just compare large house/playsets of the 80s with modulars. or speed champions with 80s 4-wide cars. Even the 80s had some wacky ass space sets and shit. Does 6951 look grounded in any sort of sense to you?
Lego has never been a medium through which children can solely explore ideas that connect to the real world. Sure you can do it if you want and there will always be sets to cater to those people. But pretty much every child i knew built whatever the fuck they wanted, wich most of the times involved a lot of bazookas and space lazers integrated pirateships in space, so lego also caters to those people.
>>6005797
I find many todays sets unplayable. Compared to older sets they had better yet simpler little play features <and that means they can be easily recreated > and not-described accesories. New sets look great but they are full of very weird techniques that simple kid will not remake. I work in Toyshop for 7 years now but I still yet to have find a kid that actualy learn how to build. Kids treat lego as 1 use toy now. Many don't know they can build something else of it or even mix them.
Lego becomes more and more expensive in adult eyes and I noticed many parents DON'T even allow mixing sets because of that.
>>6005551
>Anybody agrees?
Of course gramps, now take your pills
>>6005551
are you retarded, city is still one of the top selling lines and friends is hot on its heels and both of them are absolutely grounded in contemporary reality through attractive story-driven models that are still easy to build. and would you believe it, sometimes kids like to imagine things and pretend that they're superheroes or cowboys or what-have-you and that's why we have nexo knights, ninjago, mahvel, etc
and guess what

There's still the juniors line and friends has more simple builds as well(but i can understand some people are put off by the minidolls and weird colourschemes, i wish there was a friends style cityishline without all the fucking lime green and tan and normal minis, fuck tan and limegreen)
I personally like the wider selection of parts we have now and more advanced techniques showcased in sets, but that is from an adults perspective.
I can't help retarded kids and parents though, i think it's a shame they can't get the same fun out of LEGO as i do.
I also don't agree with todays sets being unplayable. I do see a shift in building style/partscount restriction vs detail. Older sets builds were pretty small, simplistic and abstract(wich doesn't have to be a bad thing, i still like a lot of those sets) wich allowed for lesser pieces to be used when building let's say a car or helicopter or foodstand robot. The current style and scale of building and level of detailing is a lot more parts intensive. So where the older sets could have a 4-wide car or small building in the style they had back in the day, they could still have different extra elements to interact with within a lower price range, this helps a set be more playable. 10 euro less individual structures but maybe even more parts than back in the day. But once you get in the 20 or higher pricerange you already start to see builds with a lot more different elements in one set. Like the friends and city car with caravan/rv that come with table, chairs pets/animals cooking utensils etc. Or city sets that come with one or more vehicle and some house structure. Or the wooden hut wich came with landscape elements. You even have ridiculous shit like the fairground mixer that comes with almost an entire working theme park to play with all the vehicles needed to move it around.

buy them junior sets, show them how to build it, intrigue them, then buy these buckets with basic bricks, help them get hooked on lego, i'd rather buy creator sets than ninjago/nexo knights, help kids get creative.
I'm a 90s kid, i watched tv on monochromatic screen, lego was my colourful world. That's why i remember it fondly.
Wow, this turned into "this next generation is the worst!" thread.

I like it. Seems like it would be a comfy thing to have in your neighborhood. Also, the Nixel face, lel

Probably part of the hair, similar to the mad scientist from the Halloween cmf series.

I wouldn't say they're unplayable, but I do find it harder to take the sets I have apart because they're so well designed these days. I don't like how the themes are too specific. The characters all have set names and personalities and it seems too pre-put-together instead of having the kids take a basic concept and then GROW it into something else. That's what I think the best part of Lego was. I don't hate these themes- I like Nexo Knights and Ninjago a lot- I just think they don't allow as much creativity as a theme where they don't tell you how to play as much.

That's because this approach works better from a marketing standpoint. Why risk the kids having messy ideas about making up their own characters? We've got a big crossover arc planned for next summer that won't work without the little shits being on-board with our storyline.
I claim the last image slot in the name of Space!

I really hope the evil dragon will get a new facial print. It looks far too cutesy for that poisonous colour scheme.
