What Rogue One stuff have you picked up? What are you looking forward to?

Bought a K-2, still looking for a Jyn that has good enough paint

>>5979172

Black series K-2 and Deathtrooper.

A few of the lego sets.

Pre-ordered the figuarts Deathtrooper, Shoretrooper, and Stormtrooper.
>>
Snagged a K2 and a couple troopers on Force Friday, super trying to hunt down a Hovertank pilot now.

Absolutely can't wait till the next wave releases, I've been eyeing that ATAT driver and OT Snowtrooper for what feels like eternity.
>>
>>5979172
Thinking about picking up a few 5POAs (they're like $8) but undecided - do we know who's coming up in the 1:18 Black Series? I don't wanna double up too heavily.

Well lads i took the plunge and ordered space walls at the cost of like 140$ total, i got the blast door too. Pretty silly cost but im a sucker for display shit. I dont take photos that much but im happy. Any reccomendations for small cheap LED lights i can put in the lighted panels?

I have already cut some glass out and painted them black. Also got a peice of acrylic and painted black strips for the ceiling in pic related. Need a way to light from above. Maybe some tiny battery leds, the kind you can activate via remote. Anyone have ideas?

Blast doors also will lead to a ikea synas led floor as a sort of loading bay or something as well as my SHF throne room stage. Pretty excited.

No i wish. Its a screen from ANH but how I envision it to look. And mostly my reference image to do the ceiling. Space walls arent here yet but they look pretty damn close. I have a dslr but wish i got this quality in my toy photos. Heres a pic of others using the product

Fuck that's nice. Wish I was willing to shell out that much for diorama type stuff, I don't know where I'd even put it.

Side note, I need more classic Stormies. They look so good en masse
>>

I have 2 fetts but I traded my only pilot luke and r2 for a couple sand troopers because luke was shelf warming in my area. I neglected to replace them figuring they would still be there, then when I remembered a week or so later all lukes and r2s were gone.

Yeah I am excited. My collection area has a big built in shelf area in a wall. Nice and deep able to fit all the walls for my little death star set up. Yeah I realize now i need a bunch of stormies somehow for cheap. I have like one storm trooper and 3 sand troopers, a handful of other special troopers like the shadow squad. I need to find a star wars BST or something. This is another anon's photo i thought was so cool. That synas lighted floor is going to be my loading bay or something. Probably going to cut another glass peice and have strips as a sort of flooring grate.
>>
>>5979459
I missed out on the Shadow Trooper pack, I had it in my fucking hands and the fire alarm went off so I had to leave it.

I've got 3 BS Stormtroopers and a repaint or two, but I'd like to get more. Really avoiding any of the new FO troopers because I think they look like shit.

I need a nice lighted display but I've just not yet shelled out the money for it.

Not that anon, but I hate when anons say this. You put yourself out there when you post pics, criticism is part of the deal. Demanding that the person criticizing also post pics is kind of a childish way to respond to that. It's not anons obligation to post a pic defending himself because he didn't put himself out there like that in the first place.

>So?
So you're paying more for a less durable unbuilt kit, whose look is entirely based on your ability to use tools and a lot of people here are scared of ever applying a paint brush to a figure.
Sure, stuff like Gundams are easy as shit to assemble, but most people have no fucking idea what they're doing.

Besides, it's not even better than the BS. It's only equal in terms of look. Choosing the model is basically just a weeaboo's way of only buying superior nippon products and keeping baka western stuff away to remain pure.
Unless you like models, so you'd naturally be good and make it look good.

But yeah, i'd never recommend choosing a model kit as your "main" toy, because more than likely you dont have the proper tools for building one and it's not going to look like the prettied up ones you see in most reviews. Shit, most of those aren't actually pretty anyway. they're just neutral, but compared to what people normally made? Beautiful.

I will say that if you want to start making models, Bandai's are the best and easiest to build, but you still need the right tools to make them look good. At least buy a can of matte spray if you don't.

Picked up the Black Series Stormtrooper helmet today. An excellent representation, very well made, and fun to walk around in for short periods of time. Everyone who sees it can't resist trying it on, haha.

Managed to score it for just under $60 after tax, and at that price I'm quite happy with it.

Really looking forward to the various Figuarts troopers, the re-done standard Stormtrooper in particular.

>>5977833
Oh wow, godspeed anon!

I did luckily get several of the BS 3.75" First Order Troopers and they're great troopers, so I hope you have a fruitful hunt and manage to snag a few for yourself. And if you do happen to find a spare Phasma (or Royal Guard!), shoot me an e-mail (fortoypurposesonly at gmail) and I'm sure we can work something out!

>>5979203
>do we know who's coming up in the 1:18 Black Series?
We're getting a Jyn, Captain Cassian, Shoretrooper, and a Deathtrooper Specialist (the one with pauldron and extra ammo pouches).

So yeah, it's gonna be a pretty rad wave, though I hope I can find some Royal Guards first. Did manage to find Ahsoka and Ackbar today!
>>
>>5979483

Where'd you get that cloak for Luke? It looks awesome.
>>
>>5979172
I managed to find two hovertank troopers today at TRU. Looks like it was the first actual restock since Force Friday.

Dissapointed to see amazon had the full wave of rogue one figures for 15.99 has ended. I was waiting for pay day and now theyre back up. Would have liked to grab a couple more death troopers. Oh well win some lose some.

God damn it Mafex, how can you make a near-perfect R2D2 and fuck it up by putting him in a double pack with one of the worst action figures I've ever handled.

C3PO literally fell apart when I took him out of the box. Forearm split in two, arm falls off at the shoulder, left leg falls off constantly, hands and feet keep popping off. And the weathering is so sloppy. The only good thing about him is the shiny gold paint, which I'm sure will chip and scratch after putting him back together for the 100th time.

Happy fucking Friday /toy/!

Definitely on the right track. Looks a lot better.
>>
>>5980216
Yeah it is. They did an amazing job with the paint on R2. I put a little red LED inside his dome so the light looks like it's on.

>>5980257
My Batman 2.0 and Joker were okay. My stormtroopers are great except for the annoying shoulder pads. Vader is probably the best Mafex figure I've got.

Their sculpts and paint apps are generally spot on, it's their QC that lets them down almost every time.

I really hope ESB Boba turns out okay.
>>
>>5980309
Initial reports on ESB Boba is that he's greatly improved. All the joints are tight and smooth. The description I got was that its " the size of a MAFEX and quality of a figuarts"

Things are looking up. That's just one guys figure though. Doesn't mean there wont still be widespread QA issues.
>>
Got bs K-2. Waiting on the target 3 pack.
>>
>>5980435
There's that Amazon stormtrooper 4-pack for ~60usd that looks superb that I'm considering. It's either that or I bite the bullet and get a black series Boba fett.

And before you tell me to get mafex or w/e I'm just a small-time black series collector. I like to shelf all the boxes front-to-back and have all the red sides w/ the numbers in order below my figures.
>>
>>5980512
TBS6 Boba Fett doesn't use the red packaging. It's also crazy expensive for a Black Series figure and it's articulation is limited thanks to the tubes on it's arms. I'm not going to recommend the MAFEX Boba either though, yet. More reports need to come in before I can make that recommendation.
>>
>>5980512
>And before you tell me to get mafex or w/e I'm just a small-time black series collector. I like to shelf all the boxes front-to-back and have all the red sides w/ the numbers in order below my figures.
That's kinda retarded, but okay, continue overpaying for mediocre figures when vastly superior options are readily available.

But that's wrong.
The colors are more accurate.
The weathering is more accurate.
The proportions are better.
The sculpt is better.

It's a better looking figure and that's why it gets praise.
Sure, the articulation isn't as good as the Mafex, but it's not its articulation is shit. It's good enough and being the best looking Boba Fett out there, it's a no shit on why it gets praised.

Also your comparison is retarded because I'm a longtime SW fan who started with the OT who actually collected 3.75" figures way before any of your 6" BS even existed. Beyond that I actually know who the fuck is the actor they're bringing in for this character.

I'm sure that's a hell of a lot more info compared to the surface-level "knowledge" of the so-called reviewers you're defending.

I mean I guess? I'm located in Canada, if that helps.

I have been waiting 3 years to open R2.. and now the day is finally here. It has been in the box so long I kind of don't want to open it. Not like they'll be posed any different than how they are in the box anyway

I found her yesterday at a Barnes and Noble, along with Jango Fett.
Had a 20% off coupon too.

Passed, and used it on a book, because I don't really collect 6" stuff aside from things i really really like or look too cool to pass up.

If they had the 4" figures with good articulation, i'd have bought her, Jango, and all the other lame characters i didn't bother to mention.

>if you stop, along with everyone else buying black series in the entire world, there will cease to be scalpers

So it's either risk not getting a figure I want versus buying, on average, a figure with a 25% markup. I'll be real, if I could toss a scalper $5-10 to guarantee me a figure at release I'd do it every time.

It saves me the work of going to TRUs and Targets. He'll, it might even out if you consider how much gas I'd spend casually going to the stores.

Their First Order Stormtrooper was announced around this time last year and had a release date of august this year, and that still hasn't been released. This company is fucking terrible at timing these things and staying on track. I wouldn't mind it as much if their figures were good, but it's a guessing game as to whether or not they'll fall apart out of the box.

Got in Figuarts Jango and spent some time today comparing him with the Black Series.

Black Series on the left, and Figuarts on the right.

>>5979749
>Is the SHF any different than the first! Did the fix the helmet?
Yes! The helmet is an all new sculpt and is a huge improvement over the first. They also updated the hip articulation to allow the Stormtrooper to get into crouching poses, which I don't think was possible with the first one.

The Figuarts' overall articulation is better, and this is particularly noticeable in the ankles, elbows, and at the neck. Subjectively, I greatly prefer the slimmer proportions and longer legs of the Figuarts, as well as the colors used.

The one thing I absolutely hate about the Figuarts though, is how they handled his shoulder armor. Like usual, the shoulder armor is attached to his upper arms and it's on a hinge joint so you can flap it up and down, but this hinge doesn't really serve a purpose.

The place where the shoulder armor attaches to the upper arm is fixed in place, so you can't change the shoulder armor's position on the arm (I even popped an arm off to see if there was something I was missing). This severely interferes with the range of motion when trying to move the arm away from the body, because the shoulder armor effectively blocks you from doing that. I just don't understand why they did it like this, when they've handled it so much better on other figures such as the Clone Troopers and First Order Stormtroopers.

>>5984266
My best attempt to get the Black Series into the same pose as the Figuarts above. The articulation limitations of the Black Series make the pose a little less natural, and I feel the stubbiness of the legs is really apparent here. Also, if you look at the wire on the right arm, you'll see it's disconnected, which is probably my biggest complaint about the Black Series. I had it in a pose with the right arm slightly bent overnight, and the next day I noticed the wires had just come out. Nothing's broken, the glue holding them in place just came undone, but they should have made the wire a bit longer to prevent that.

Still, the Black Series puts up a great showing considering the price differential between the two. It looks great (I think the pouches on the BS' waist look better than the Figuarts), and the shoulders have a FAR better range of motion than the Figuarts.

Aside from the issues with the shoulder armor, I do like the Figuarts. It looks great to me, has additional options/accessories (including a hidden stand connection point inside his jet pack!), and obviously fits in well with other Figuarts.

I recommend it for folks who like the character and want him to go with their Star Wars Figuarts, but I do think most people would be perfectly happy with the Black Series.

>Goofs like this one remind me of how they handled Ultron's shoulder articulation, in which they didn't even try at all.

Haha, yeah. Usually, even if I don't think a Figuarts looks too great from its initial reveal, if it's a character I want I'll still put down for the preorder and hope for the best. Couldn't bring myself to do that for Ultron, especially when the Revoltech looked so much better right from the start.

Jango is one I was kinda lukewarm on from the initial photos, but in-hand I really love how he looks, so I think you'll be happy with him (shoulders aside, grumble grumble)!

Did you even read my post? I said he would be hard to find at first, and would then become easier over time. Of course people are going to be bitching in December when he first comes out, and then if they wait a while they'll be able to find him. This idea that Black Series never restock is dumb-as-rocks.

Nowinstock.com history for Ashoka at Amazon going back to March:
http://www.nowinstock.net/full_historydetails/635/18011/

Amazon history for Jango going back to February:
http://www.nowinstock.net/full_historydetails/635/18108/

Thats just one website. It clearly shows that they've been restocked regularly. At the moment Jango is in in-stock on 4 different sites and Ahsoka currently has pre-orders available on Amazon and Entertainment-Earth for MSRP. There is no reason to assume that Revan's wave won't follow the same pattern. This is without even getting into retail stores, which everyone here knows have also been restocking regularly in a general sense (depending on the store). Yes even in a major city. In fact a major city increases the chance of restocks because there are more people to clean up the pegs. If older product doesn't move then the manager won't order new stock.

Was inspired by this anon's project. Not getting the space walls but wanted to do the deathstar flooring for my meager collection.

Went to Home Depot got 2 12x10 sheets of glass which fit my 10 inch deep shelves perfectly and some glossy black spray paint. Spent maybe 8-10 bucks total. Cheap fun weekend project.

Looks really good IRL has that reflective shine of the deathstar. Neat to see the figure reflection. Looks good or better on white troopers. Realizing I need more stormies and my collection is a bit ragtag. Havent been collecting BS very long.

I wish I got a bigger peice of glass and cut it down though as you can see the seam where the 2 peices meet and theres about 4 inches left on the length. Easy enough to redo at some point. Try it if you're interested.

Personally I'm not too bothered by the lack of arm movement. I can only imagine that working pistons in this scale would be a nightmare for broken parts and shitty QC. I can't wait to turn a regular release 3p0 into a Punished Version, with that awful red arm.

I'm a little worried about the single knee joint. I know that it's not like he was ever an action prone character but it could be opening the door for Hasbro to make single knees standard, which would kill the line for me. It's bad enough with the single jointed elbows.

The biggest difference is the shade of green on the armor and the material of the cape. Black Series is brighter and uses a cloth cape while Mafex is more greyish/darker and the cape is made of plastic. Proportions are slightly different as well, with the Mafex being a skinnier.

It's actually a method for point shooting with a rifle called Reflexive Firing. It used to be called the "quick kill method". You're technically right though, he's point shooting. Which is what he would be doing for middle to close range fighting since he has a long range scope on the blaster.

It really does though, if you can't feel your enemy die then you aren't accepting your place as a killer

Warriors use melee weapons with maybe a sidearm, Mandos use ranged weapons almost exclusively
>>

Tell that to a Marine or Soldier. I bet they'll have something to say back.

> Warrior: a man engaged or experienced in warfare; broadly : a person engaged in some struggle or conflict.

There is nothing anywhere, ever, that suggests that a warrior must be experienced in hand-to-hand or close range combat. What you just said is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard in my life, and I've heard some really dumb shit.
>>
>>5987826

Unless you've actually been there, unless you've experienced something like having pieces of another humans skull embedded into your skin from CQB, you should probably refrain from positing about what makes a true warrior. It's liable to piss a lot of people off who actually are in a position to know.

>>

>>
Is there any news at all on an EPIII Obi-wan? Favorite version of favorite character, but I thought the BS was terrible
>>
>>5989462
And likely any other deluxe sets I would think. Both the wampa and tautan shelf warmed everywhere and barely moved at clearance. Jabba was a joke too. Which is a shame because i would have loved
>dewback/sandtrooper set
>rancor
>other speeders and small vehicles
>interceptor
Etc. unfortunatly the market just isnt there.
>>5989467
Yeah I love the speeder bikes. I grabbed 2. The scout is still one of my favorite BS. Gamestop has them for 5$ clearanced. None near me unfortunatly.
>>
>>5989636
The execution needed to be better. They took away a lot of what the tauntaun had, and they gave the wampa a dumb gimmick rather than 2 functional arms. Janna was also a joke, yes, but the trooper was well done, and he sold a lot better. The first 2 also didn't make it out to canada so I wouldn't know how they sold.

They just need to make things well, and of things people want. Grievous is an obvious one, and maybe a way to get Boba out again would be to release him in his RotJ gear and have a sarlacc to go with him. I'm sure either or both would sell.
>>
>>5989636
I missed the Wampa completely where I live, it was poorly timed (IIRC TFA was on the way and the wave clearanced out after a week or two) and I really wish it hadn't gone up so much in price. I got my Tauntaun for 15 bucks and couldn't be happier.

>>5989679
Grievous I agree with, but I doubt they're going to re-release Boba, it'd be the third time for him. I can see a landspeeder selling really well, as well as a snowspeeder.

And why, for the love of God, haven't we seen ANY battle droids?? They'd be an instant hit due to army building.
>>
>>5989721
Wait what do you mean twice? Outside of his wave or possibly a revision he was never released. Unless you mean the SDCC one. And besides, it would be for a different costume. To deny a character like Boba would just be stupid, especially as the Lukes pile up, and Vader is getting a second figure. Boba will always sell, and if the chance comes up to make another they should always take it. He and Vader are like Spidey and Wolvie, gotta keep making them cause they'll keep selling.

And they have no issue redoing the same characters, especially in different outfits. The aforementioned 2, Han, Leia, Kylo, Finn, etc all had at least 2 releases.

OT and new order stormtrooper, Phasma, flame trooper, death trooper, K2, OT tie fighter pilot, Boba, and Vader are all decent figures with minimal issues.

the worst problem BS figs suffer from are articulation, but that's also mainly because we've been spoiled with sh figuarts. you have to understand hasbro isn't tamashii nations. they're not going to put in that level of detail and quality. pretty much no American toy company will because frankly we suck at putting effort into anything that's the slight bit costly. that goes for all businesses in america, even the food we eat.

>>
>>5990126
well, I mean, yeah. but its unfair to compare a figure from a company which has a limited budget due to making toys MAINLY for children and SOME for collectors, whereas Hot Toys puts all effort and resources to collectors. its like comparing a microsoft paint picture to the mona lisa. They're both art technically, yes, but its extremely unfair to compare the two.
>>5990128
the doll part is, yes. action figures look way cooler and masculine.
>>
>>5990134
I agree. But its hard for lots of companies, mainly American, to produce figures based on actors that are accurate. just look at McFarlane's Walking Dead TV series figures for example. for whatever reason Japan and Hot Toys manage to pull it off better. mainly because of cost reasons and cheap capitalism I've already mentioned. there's no getting around it and its not really worth complaining about. even NECA screws up with faces, despite a lot of their toys having good detail on other things aside from faces.
>>
>>5988974
Me too, but i did repaint the side panels to a darker gold that is tolerable.

However, as a neat function, they are removable, so you can portray it empty or deploying machinery or TIES or something.
>>
>>5990147
We've seen on multiple occasion that the sculpts are there, it's just the paint that's lacking. Of course, that's what makes the figures looks explicitly worse. It'd be nice if they could start getting serious about paint on faces. Some are quite well done, like the Rebels characters, though still not quite perfect.
>>
>>5990147

Sculpt is half the battle. A good sculpt can be ruined by a shitty mass-produced paint job.
>>
>>5990083
Yeah I thought that was weird too, but the rest of the figure is so damn good I forgive them for it. It probably wouldn't too hard to whip up a custom cloth cape anyway. If you're not the arts and crafts type there are some good customizers out there who make "6 cloth capes for Boba, like rikhor.

>Sculpt is half the battle. A good sculpt can be ruined by a shitty mass-produced paint job.
It's true, but sometimes a half ass job at paint still produces a really good figure, because the sculpt shines through.
Most male faces on the Hasbro figures look great, because the details shine through. Females can look bad, because we're used to seeing them with half a pound of make up on their faces.

Here's the Rock looking like the Rock, without any paint. Most Hasbro figures have all these details showing through that makes them look like the actors.
Pictures like this with overly bright lights would make anything look bad >>5990099 . In person, lighting isn't going to make them look like they're sweating to the oldies, hence collectors liking the figures so much.
