>>5978643
What is honestly the point of this and Ninjago co-existing?
It's pretty much the same "multi-colored guys in vehicles from a time period that shouldn't have them", only with knights instead of ninjas and the vehicles looking mostly uninspired.

It's a moc. Closest thing is probably the King's Mech set.
>>
>>5978665
Not to mention that the show doesn't even feature like half of the sets or the stuff seen in them.
No Infernox, no Moltor Basher thing, no 10$ sets, no Knighton soldiers, only like one or two Ash Warriors so far, no robo-horse bikes...
And don't get me started on all the cool creatures in that Book of Monsters that got ignored for that lame rock monster stuff next year.

>Lots of specialized pieces, horns, claws, bars, small plates with clips
>Lots of creative techniques. Looks like it would be a hollow skeleton around the core, with decoration on the edges. You'll be attaching wood fragments at wonky angles
Bad news, brown/dark brown/tan are missing a lot of parts
>>
>>5978776
You can always use blue and make a night scene.
>>
>>5978779
Blue is just about as bad in some parts. It does depend on how good you want it to look. You could make a passable one with mostly slopes, tiles, and the new curve families in brown. But to really capture those details, you need more special parts.

If you're in LSD, go nuts. Never really found it appealing myself

Eh, it's sort of a little bigger than "micro scale" but there definitely some minimalism in the design, in both the original and in custom sets.

As a kid I loved it. I really liked the more mundane, realistic elements like the campfires. I loved "playing" their long trek through the desert and temple ruins, looking for that mystic ruby they were after whose name I can't remember

Never did get that set in your pic though ;_:

What I like the most is that it uses an opening between the buildings. That way you can use it to make a small piazza behind it with a natural entrance. Makes it stand out from the rest of the modulars. I'm also going to be wanting more of those sideways frames in order to make some nice modern offices with loads of glass.

I'm probably getting it, but Parisian Restaurant and Detective's Office is still higher on the list as I'm missing both.

Got my shipment of bootlego minifig in, put Thor together to hang out with my legit Loki. Micro review:
- Came completely disassembled
- Pieces fit together snugly without feeling like they'll break
- Good friction at the joints
- Body print looks good
- Face print looks good, although the mouth is filled in with silver, not white, which is kind-of hilarious
- There's a little bit of clearance between the head and the hair piece. It still sticks to the stud like it's supposed to, it's just kind-of weird
- The hair piece also had a little sharp point of molding leftovers on it, easily removed with a thumbnail
- Mjolnir

I really wanted that mummy and some rubies, but I'm glad Pharoah's Quest came out and they had better-printed ones. The Baron himself was such a cool character. fuck, there's something so charming about lego when it was more blocky

i really like the rough blocky look

I feel the late nineties to early 2000s, and specifically the Adventurers theme, was the perfect balance between blocky and smooth.
>>
>>5980608
yea, same, it's my favorite lego era (not just because i was a kid then, didn't buy many sets at that age)
mid 2000's is easily the worst. that was when i really got into lego and i fucking hated most of the themes. i think the best set i ever got in that time was the little robots set that came with 3 robots.

i had an older cousin who had some older late 80's-early 2000's stuff and i found myself way more attracted to that stuff. used to look through his huge lego bin and finding old catalogs and instructions and wishing those sets were still in production

They're pretty fun sets that provide a generic background for making your own stories by giving you a framework of identifiable characters and locations to build off of.
Compare that to generic city stuff that is just cars and people doing mundane things.
I think modern sets have a similar problem of being too generic (city police stuff) or too specific (ninjago and nexo)
>>

That's a good point. I'd recommend looking the pieces up on bricklink to see if the stickers aren't crazy rare or something. Then i might suggest selling them and looking for unstickered more common pieces.
Not a fan of stickers either, but destroying them is a shame imo.

Loving that classic UFO in progress.
I'm sure there were both segmented angled domes in spyrius and aquanauts sets in trans-darkblue and more recently half-domes with a bar style joint in them that you could use.

The B model on 42050 Drag Racer is a bit disappointing, although I guess it's hard to live up to the A model.
>>
>>5982629

Nigga is you serious

The B model was the selling point for me (after the Tumbler tyres), and I thought the HoG nub was pretty nicely integrated as part of the engine. It could do with being a bit longer, but that's the only complaint.
>>

Also, Technic has a tendency to use mini LAs in such applications that they are fucking tedious to use, and the A-Model is one such case. The PF upgrade is a disappointment for not activating this like a huge Hotwheels Trickshifter.

Just wanted to drop a late-thread reminder that

THE GREAT HALLOWEEN SPOOK GIRL GIVEAWAY CONTEST

ends in nine hours, and there are still two open spots!

Everyone in the Lego General has the chance to win their very own mint-in-bag Spooky Girl! Just make a Halloween-related MOC and take a picture of it (with timestamp) and post it in this thread along with an email. Once ten people have entered or the contest deadline hits, the one that makes me laugh the most will win a free Spooky Girl!

This contest is open to everyone in the world, but it ends at midnight Central Standard Time tonight to make sure the winner gets their Spooky Girl before Halloween!

>Zane's mech vs Spooky ghost mech
>Blue Power Jet

I only have the first two, but out of those I'd say jay's dragon looks better. The salvage m.e.c. Has really limited articulation and honestly doesn't look that good. However if you're going for parts over looks i'd say choose the m.e.c. As the parts seem more versatile.

And if you prefer mechs over dragons then forgot what i just wrote. The m.e.c.'s not a bad set, but it's not as good looking as the dragon

I've got the Giant Mech Battle Featuring Spooky Waifu and Friends and it's a great set. Lots of nice parts, easy to customize, interesting color choices. I'm planning on getting the Salvage MEC eventually, half just for the cockpit windshield (imagine a Salvage Samurai TIE Fighter lol), but the dollars are fleeting.
