What are the best and worst CHUG molds?

Is anyone else here a NEET. Sometimes my mom buys me TFs for birthdays and stuff and I'm mostly satisfied with that but I'm too poor for Masterpieces and such. I love clearance sales. I just don't think I can justify spending like $99 on Masterpiece Beast Convoy when I got a PC for $44 shipped on eBay.

I still have yet to open any of the Thrilling 30 Generations stuff I got a few years ago.

Not these days, used to get presents from my mother who was a reckless spender but parents swapped working roles (from father to mother) and kinda stopped apart from birthdays and christmas and went into gaming for a time.

Now I got a full time job and spending about $200 a week on whatever shit I want with the rest into bills and food, my job is minimum wage but its higher than other countries and I'm very low maintenance.

Why ko it when you can do it with the existing one, just some tiny speakers jammed into the leg cavities, wire them to a small mp3 device in the chest, you can almost getto customize it with just a few adjustments (gotta pull out the "tape" holder if you want the device window sitting comfortably and some holes so wiring, either proper stuff or just headphone jack so flow through)

Optimus Primal is actually only about the size of a car autobot. Cheetor will be the size of a deluxe it seems. If we get Megatron or Dinobot, they'rd veer more towards the size of Optimus or G1 Inferno(BW Megatron in particular was HUGE in season 1).

The tf wiki sorta does, if it belongs to a japanese line (like the legends line) it'll have its own entry, otherwise type in a character, view toys, and you can even see the japanese and western counterparts together to compare.

Fuck, I don't like buying expensive remolds and repaints at all really after getting both Ironhide and Ratchet and kind of regretting it, but I can't stop myself from preordering both inferno and grapple.

I can usually avoid new hat syndrome but they both look great and and both of them have enough unique gimmicks to satisfy me.

I wish they'd stop putting in effort into remolds.

Wow, there's really no scale comparison of MP Optimus Primal and Cheetor in promo pics yet. Weird. this is the closest thing I can find.

Granted, cheetor actually wasn't tHAT much smaller than Primal in show. Mainframe made Optimus Primal oddly small; Rhinox, Dinobot, and Megatron all where much bigger than him. Tigatron was about his same height. I think the reason Takara scaled Primal like they did was so they could do Megatron at a large size that still hovers around 12000 yen.

I have a bit of a theory that Takara has drawn the line at MP prices not exceeding G1 Optimus as MP-10. Ultra Magnus and StarSaber, while taller, where also cheaper than MP-10(though MP-10 did have the trailer). If they made Optimus Primal larger, they'd have to make a BW Megatron that'd be around the same price as MP-10, which I think they'd be apprehensive about.

You know, I've found pic-related to be HIGHLY underrated. I feel like, because it was the first in the new wave of car-bots, people weren't sure what to expect of it. I recall so much hate for the mold back when it came out. People were pissed it wasn't huge (even though it was in scale) and that it was too simple, that it had no diecast, and that his chest was too wide. There was so much pre-emptive hate for this mold, but honestly it's one of the most solid MP molds around. I think, proportion-wise, it's better than the Datsuns by a long shot, and I find its transformation to be perfectly-balanced. Honestly, the only real flaws are the tiny gap on the shin, and his ankle tilt being a little restricted. Other than that, fucking stellar, and what a heasculpt.

Seriously, looking back on this mold, it got SO much hate. I think it's funny that so many angry geewunners were pissed that his chest didn't somehow magically compress to become more narrow like in the cartoon. A lot of the cartoon bots were drawn with impossible proportions in relation to their alt mode, in general everything was compressed to be more humanoid. The datsuns' chests got pulled in, Bee's belly and feet shrank, Wheeljack's shins slimmed down. To be honest, I find that ugly. They're alien robots that turn into cars, and I like when a parts of their anatomy are irregular or enlarged because they are comprised of their alt. mode. It gives them character.

I think people just expected too much, which is fair. There wasn't exactly any compromise on the previous MPs which all really nailed the looks and out comes a tiny weirdly proportioned car-man that's apparently a masterpiece.

Sideswipe is really good and set the standard and scale for all the car bots, but back then some disappointment over him was reasonable. Compared to Starscream, Optimus or Grimlock he certainly doesn't manage to capture the robot mode as well as the previous MPs.

A think the only fair complaint about the car bots is the decision to chose real car looks over cartoon-styled cars. Which is a legitimate and purely subjective complaint. Some guys, Bee especially, would have definitely benefited from a more cartoon-style alt mode that would then translate into a more accurate robot mode, but I'm very pleased with the results on all of them.

I am getting nervous how quiet they've been on BW MPs; We got MP Optimus announced about a year and a half ago, then Cheetor a few months ago. I'm hoping we get a hint at something new before year's end. Considering there's seemingly a G1 Megatron in development without official announcement so far, and how fast some MPs can just appear, I do have some faith.

See, I'm bit of a carfag, so the decision to go with licensed alt. modes is one of the biggest perks of the MP line to me, and I also tend to display my stuff as much in car mode as in bot mode, whereas it seems most just want bots. Because they had the licensed alt. modes, they weren't allowed to compromise much there, so all of the compromises fall into the bot mode, which seems to be a sour point with most collectors. That being said, it's still amazing what they've done with some of them.

Well, its no looker for a start, let alone how many of the transformation joints on a figure with a metal frame are easily broken, articulation is limited, it can't hold up its own fusion cannon properly in some poses, its diecast parts have a tendency to RUST (not the bad kind but the discoloration is off putting).

Some reviews I've seen reported hasbro soundwave is slightly looser but nothing to the point of uselessness, there is a sectionof the footpanels that isn't painted on hasbro's version for whatever reason but other than eye color and opting for painted gold and silver over chrome on the red and blue eyes they aren't much different.

I don't think Soundwave was ever bootlegged but I do know Ratbat was. So basically make sure the auction says it's not a knock off and even then, pay attention to the photo in the auction: if it's just a stock photo of the box/figure, then there is the chance it might be a bootleg.

I've been fiddling with UW Nosecose a bit and I've discovered that if you even slightly unscrew the screw holding the drill onto its handle segment then it can freely rotate. The only thing actually keeping it from rotating is the tightness of the screw and some tiny tiny tiny interlocking nubs between the two parts that practically beg to be sanded down.

Which is neat. It'd be neater if you could somehow mod in some sort of automated spinning mechanism, like if you made it so that when you press on the collapsible tip then the drill body would spin around a bit (which is why I took it apart in the first place to see how it's built and to see if there might be an easy way to do that, which there isn't), but it's still pretty neat

So I got those G2 sets on Hasbro's clearance fun times but I wouldn't have been happy if I had to blow more then $30 each. The have some gummy parts and "Slingshot" is certainly that same gold plastic that suffers gold plastic syndrome and Superion's ears are equally worrying. The yellow on "Wild rider" looks troubling as well, will likely stress mark easy. In contrast the red and blue plastics seem surprisingly sturdy.

Did I give the impression I wasn't down on the quality control issues in the line? I'll admit that I still want the figures and characters badly enough to still buy them, but things like CW Menasor sucking ass are a bummer.

Might as well buy a Metroplex for that. FM's chest cavity barely space for a normal figure, and only really works (in city or base mode) for small TM vehicles, and some legends figures in vehicle mode.

You can also load 4 cassettes in Metroplex's chest.

looking for opinions here.

getting married at the end of the month and for something different i decided to buy 2 and 2 of these transformers as groomsmen gifts, how good are they? i avoided the super cheap stuff as i want something a "child at heart" grown men would enjoy.

while i collect things other than toy figures i do find these appealing.
