I realize that one of the guys who's involved in this was fairly shady, but that was when he was a recaster doing everything himself and probably just got in over his head and dealt with it badly.

It's not like he's going to be making these figures himself.

Okay, haven't mentioned this before I had more info but MCToys which makes Power Team Elite is now selling toys direct through their website(which is slow as shit). http://www.mctoy.com.hk/index.php

You need to create an account and when you submit your order they will get back to you within a few days with a shipping quote and you can decide then to order or not.

As a trial on October 9 I ordered a quonset hut. The MSRP on the site was $72.50. Today(Oct 11) received an email from the sales rep with a quote of $72.50 for the item, plus $25 shipping and $4.59 in paypal fees. Additionally the sales rep offer a 15% discount off that order if I made a Facebook post with their grand opening info etc etc.

I turned down the offer because I will still likely find one at retail here in the US. However that shipping price isn't terrible considering how big the box must be.

Anyway just thought you guys might want to know. Might be a decent deal for people wanting a lot of PTE stuff(the website selection is decent) or from outside the US who can't buy them at retail.

Pic related is what they wanted me to post on facebook.
>>
>>5962655
>That, and the fact China gives no fucks about bootlegs and will copy whatever you have them make.

This. Any company that goes to a Chinese factory for manufacturing their product should work under the assumption that any designs and/or molds will be sold to a family member of the factory owner or manager to make bootlegs of your stuff.

It happens all the time in 1/6 toys. You'll see smaller "companies" pop up making bootlegs of other companies stuff with "acquired" molds.

You can't get away from them even if you don't go to Chinese factories though. Chinese companies send employees to trade shows all the time to run a booth with the primary purpose of walking the floor and photographing as much as they can so they can at least copy the physical look of a product.
>>
>>5962753

>I think they're starting to realize how in demand and well-liked their stuff is.

Hopefully. I'd love to see some of the stuff they make and sell in China, like the Chinese military and police sets, for sale on their site. I like that they have the 1/18 scale SWAT stuff available though, that's always been one of the more interesting of their lines for me personally.

Idk, but, looking at the items on the page, I think it is like, boxes/cases, like a store would get. The "pieces per outer carton" usually has a few depending on item size, blackhawk has 6 per carton, hut has 2. The figure set listed has an outer and inner carton count.

Could account for the somewhat high shipping but who knows until orders arrive. Could be a discounted price for the case. Still should run to big lots for a black hawk. Maybe Ill try irdering a hut or 2 from them next payday.

New joes have been spotted and purchased today too. Worth a check if you know the truck day.

Yep.

Also they did, but they based their guys off of Phillips and Mătăsăreanu from the North Hollywood Shootout. I have a couple of both IIRC, I think one each still in the box and one each opened on my shelf at home.

21C was a once in a lifetime line for 1/6 collectors and no one has really challenged them on subjects touched on since. Especially what they had planned before they folded (Chechan Motorized Infantry, female IDF weapons instructor, waitress hostage, zombies and zombie survivors, vampires and vampire hunters, pirates etc.).

Yep. The zombie will always be top tier on everyone's want list. At least they realized there was still a huge demand for them. I feel like this whole wave is far and away better than the last one. This project is so disappointing to me.
I've wanted decent western toys for years, doesn't matter what scale.
I don't know why they aren't making more recognizable characters, or at least adaptions.
They're obviously fine with skirting copyright by having a fake Johnny West (at 375k yeah right), Bass, Earp, and copies of Kenner Butch and Sundance but what the fuck dude.
Where's:
Wild Bill
Doc Holliday
Johnny Ringo
The Man with No Name (Blondie)
Tuco
Angel Eyes
Brynner from Magnificent 7
Charlie from Open Range
John Wayne
The kid from Ride with the Devil
Numerous book cowboys, Longarm comes to mind.
John Marston
Red from Red Dead Revolver
Jack Swift from RDR
Eastwood from Unforgiven
Morgan Freeman's character from Unforgiven
Mountain Man Jerimiah Johnson

There are dozens upon dozens of instantly recognizable characters they can "adapt" but they just chose generic, bland cowboys. What the fuck.

Just submitted an order on M&C for a bunch of SWAT and Firefighter sets (mostly smaller figure sets, but one SWAT HMMWV and one Aerial Rocket Helicopter/Dauphin). Only ~$120 before shipping. I'll let the thread know how the process goes once I confirm shipping price and pay.

I'm really excited because at first I didn't notice that you could change the category of item within the individual item pages (if applicable), so you can get different types. This is really for the smaller vehicles (ATVs, motorcycles) and figure sets. You can get different models of individual figures with different gear. So I added a bunch of the different types of promask SWAT guys to my order, and the two three figure SWAT sets I have have two different loadouts of extra accessories. And one of the choices for the three figure Firefighter set includes a litter.

If this goes smoothly I'll make another bigger order eventually. I really want to get a couple littlebirds and at least one of each of the jets.

Yes, MGR offers generic looking SWAT operators.

And you can find plenty of humvees of higher quality on ebay for roughly $40.

Also, you can't find little birds in your areas? I know that KMart still sold them, even in fighter fighter colors. It's one of the easiest vehicles to get.

Sorry, no fire fighters aside from GI Joes, which are actually pretty easy to get... but not this one, for whatever reason.
>>
>>5967128
>Yes, MGR offers generic looking SWAT operators.

Lol they don't actually look like SWAT/CT. They look like MGR figures with dark fatigues.

> And you can find plenty of humvees of higher quality on ebay for roughly $40.

Have you never actually bought a 1/18 HMMWV? I have a 1/6 PTE one already. They are not only in scale (or as close as possible, I never actually measured out one of the HMMWVs at my unit and compared it) but they actually are able to fit figures comfortably into the vehicle. I have 1/18 HMMWVs from BBi and 21C. The BBI ones have an easier time fitting figures, but only in the driver and TC seat. The 21C HMMWV is underscale.

There is a reason the PTE HMMWVs are sought after, they can actually fit figures in them and are still in scale.

> Also, you can't find little birds in your areas?

No.

>Sorry, no fire fighters aside from GI Joes, which are actually pretty easy to get

A scifi "firefighter" who comes with a fucking flame thrower or one who looks like he's trying to go on a crusade against fire in the 12th century. And that's if you can find GI Joe near you.

If I'm going to buy online I'll actually buy exactly what I'm looking for, which is realistic (in design) SWAT/CT figures and realistic contemporary firefighters.

Have you not actually seen the SWAT and firefighter PTE figures?
>>
>>5967144
Yeah, PTE's figures are lacking but all of the rest of their stuff is killer. At the price point and detail I don't think anyone is going to do better 1/18 scale vehicles any time soon.

The SWAT-ish guys from the Eagle Force kickstarter look delightfully generic, but those'll be a while before their available. My favorite SWAT troopers are the Cobra ones. You could just remove the Cobra symbols.

After buying them for $30 a piece.

Or I can get SWAT guys of a realistic design for ~$2 a piece and I don't have to do anything but throw a helmet on them, if I want to even do that. And they won't fall apart and are as poseable as a 1/18 scale figure really needs to be. I've been collecting 1/18 for like 20 years, I'm not just now breaking into it so I know exactly what I'm looking for.

All of the niche lines mentioned before are great, but they are not even close to what I posted about ordering in subject from M&C.

And even though the SWAT guys look slightly dated because of the proportions of their bodies, the firefighters are great looking.

The Shock Troopers were going for like less than $15 a piece on ebay during the last 50th wave. Should still be about that on the Hisstank BST. possibly less.

I appreciate what PTE is doing, but their figures (to me) just look kind of awful. The style of joints they use, their faces, their proportions, just the overall look of them. I'd rather get a handful of shock troopers than a pile of PTE guys.

But you do you. Buy what you like; I'm not here to judge. I'm just making coversation.
>>
>>5967178
>The bodies seem too stumpy and short--the limbs are too thick, the torsos are too wide, and the heads are WAY too small.

I have the feeling you've never actually handled a PTE figure in person. The heads are about the size of most modern era Joes. They are also about the same height. The firefighters are modeled as wearing heavy suits which are bulky in real life.
>>
>>5967185
>The Shock Troopers were going for like less than $15 a piece on ebay

Nice. The last time I looked they were going for $30. There are a couple on eBay for ~$19 with shipping. Which is still cool for getting a few of the figure.

> I'd rather get a handful of shock troopers than a pile of PTE guys.

For me the newest Hasbro figures have lost a lot of what made them fun for me as a kid. PTE is pretty much the embodiment of the kind of action figure line I wanted as a kid and what I get out of collecting 1/18 has changed drastically in the last couple of years.

I was actually on the verge of purging all 1/18 stuff save a few items with sentimental value over the last year. The only thing that prevented me from going through it was the work of actually throwing it up on eBay and I didn't get any bites on the Joe boards I actually frequent(ed) for someone local to come take it off my hands for cash. A couple of the Kickstarters (like DNL even with the communication and reputation issues, and Bossfight) and M&C now doing direct sales (because distro for PTE is so hit or miss) has sort of revitalized my interest in 1/18 scale.

>Lol they don't actually look like SWAT/CT.
When was the last time you looked at SWAT?
People have been complaining about how scary they look now since the early 00s.
>Have you never actually bought a 1/18 HMMWV?
Of course. I've had no problems with any of them. Maybe the figures you tried had too much operatoratoring equipment on them?
And I'm actually a fan of the GI Joe hummers.
Although, BBI's and 21st Century's do ahve better details, the GI Joe ones aren't lacking either and have more playability with the extra stuff.
power team's ones i have are just junk with negative undersides. I paid about $15 back in the day and there's no way i'd pay what they go for now.
Oh, and the collector brand humvees aren't underscaled. They're just made to look good, which means the seats are drawn inward instead of allowing space for legs to go through them. Most collector scale cars have this problem and incompatibility with 1:18 figures, which 21st, bbi, hasbro, pte, etc don't do.

>Have you not actually seen the SWAT and firefighter PTE figures?
Yes, which is why I've decided never to buy their shit again, because many companies are finally making what i want.
Just their vehicles, and only the armored tanks/apcs that no one else has made.

Can't believe you don't see little birds in the wild though.
>>
>>5967217

If it's cases and they quote me the total I have plus shipping then I'll be getting a shit load of stuff. I got multiples of the individual SWAT guys, two SWAT three packs, an Aerial Rocket Helicopter, a SWAT HMMWV, the Firefighter ATV set and the Firefighter three pack.

>>5967247
>I paid about $15 back in the day and there's no way i'd pay what they go for now.

They're ~$20.

The 1/6 ones are the more expensive ones. Direct from M&C they go for $90, but good luck finding ANY 1/6 vehicles for less than $200 complete. Old 21C 1/6 Littlebirds, which are underscale, were $3-400 on eBay the last time I looked. The 21C HMMWVs which are noticeably undrescale go for $1-200. Once in awhile you can find good deals on them.

>Oh, and the collector brand humvees aren't underscaled.

> which 21st

21C is the usual abbreviation for 21st Century Toys. Which is why I stated that it is underscaled in my experience. HMMWVs are small, I know, I've driven them. But they aren't that small relative to a person.

>Can't believe you don't see little birds in the wild though.

Yep, they haven't changed since they first started making their Power Team crap and it's as ugly back then as it is today. Hence, the requirement of paying top dollar for good quality figures available today in many places.

Figures like this pass off perfectly as SWAT, minus the mask of course.

Look at hte vest, the helmet MGR offers.
Same shit.

Again, most SWAT only wear military surplus or buy it themselves to feel tacticool. There's really no difference except they're missing POLICE badges.
And that is a really really anal point in deciding to buy bootleg quality toys with poor paint apps, ugly heads, and generally less articulated figure over.

And if you want to know something, those badges aren't worn for night raids. They're velcroed on, which police will take them off, since those bold white letters and other signifiers of their policehood will allow someone to better see them in the dark and shoot them.
Which is much to the delight of criminals who shoot at them, since they can claim they didn't knwo they were police and say they were defending themselves.

There's no lack of 1:18 diecast models but the problem with them is that they do not have enough legroom for any 4" figure aside from Pose Skeletons.

1:18 diecast Bikes work aside from sports bikes, which require the rider to hug the bike tightly, something difficult to do even with a well-articulated figure.

Looking good brotha. Those marauder helmets and goggles look great.
You should paint some of the details on your Cobra Combat Ninja with some black paint. Really makes a big difference.

>>You should paint some of the details on your Cobra Combat Ninja with some black paint. Really makes a big difference.

I really should, been on my list of things to do for a while.

Nah, just trimmed some plastic under the jaw, gave her hair and skin appropriate colour paint washes and touched up the eyes.

>So even though MGR offers all the same shit

They don't. They offer a very specific style of figure with some accessories. That style of figure doesn't look like any of the pictures you've posted to try and make your point.

>isntead of continuing to pretend that you totally only meant a really specific point in time,

Yes, because you're psychic anon. You know what I meant while I don't know what I meant. Clearly you know I'm just trying to backtrack because what I really want are generic figures modeled after Colonial Marines from Aliens which no non-retarded person would look at, no matter the color scheme, and think SWAT/CT.

>which was likely some shitty 80s TV show about SWAT guys.

Lol or literally every other single representation of civilian SWAT/CT operators from the 70's to the late 90's/early 00's. What you've posted RE wearing surplus military uniforms doesn't even hold true for many large agencies. LAPD SWAT and LASD SWAT still wear the classic navy and OD fatigues, respectively, they've worn for the last twenty years.

>Uh huh, and you're only defending this shit because you're some chinese guy who needs to feed his family with the 50¢ he gets from MC Toys.

The difference is I'm not getting butt blasted because you don't want to buy what I want you to buy, but for some reason you are anal pained that I don't want to buy what you want me to buy. Damn nigger if you want it so bad buy it yourself holy shit.

It's basically the only alternative for a ton of subjects.

Unless you know of any other 1/18 manufacturer making an A10, SU27, SWAT, fire service, etc.

What is the base figure in this photo? Because it doesn't have the armor that the marauders have on the legs at least
>>

The body for the ones on the left and right are POC Cobra Blueshirt. It's a pretty good generic commando body and would actually be an okay alternative body for a contemporary SWAT figure with some work.

LOL WUT?
Might as well say that your style doesn't fit either, because look at this shit. They look like a kid's drawing of a SWAT guy.

>no non-retarded person would look at, no matter the color scheme, and think SWAT/CT
They'd look more like SWAT than guys wearing shorts or jeans like seen in those terror attacks in France, because guess what? SWAT uses military surplus and only the color scheme would make them stand out.

>LAPD SWAT and LASD SWAT still wear the classic navy and OD fatigues
No, seriously, you have no clue what you're talking about. They're as tacticool as all other departments, if not more so, because their budget is higher.

>YOU_BETTER_NOT_LIKE_WHAT_I_DON'T_LIKE.png
Nah, you just don't like my opinion, which is why you started defending shit like my pic hardcore.

Lol except it's exactly what I'm looking for. Specifically the promask head ones I bought multiples of, which are not what is in your picture.

>No, seriously, you have no clue what you're talking about.

Just do a cursory Google search at least you dense fuck. Type LAPD SWAT and LASD SWAT into Google image search and look at the first row of photo results.

>Nah, you just don't like my opinion, which is why you started defending shit like my pic hardcore.

LOL This back and forth started when you spilled your spaghetti all over the thread about why I am buying something instead of what you think is obviously superior, even though it wasn't at all even close to what I was looking for.

... so MGR's style, which is basically GI Joe's style makes it not recognizable as SWAT, yet a 10 year old's drawing made into a toy counts as SWAT.... inconsistent logic, much?

>Just do a cursory Google search at least you dense fuck.
Yeah, and i find almost all of them using military surplus from the past two wars. Only a few unlucky ones are using shit from the 80s still.
See pic? The MGR figure is using the same shit, because again, SWAT uses military surplus and the MGR is based on current soldiers.

>you spilled your spaghetti all over the thread about why I am buying something instead of what you think is obviously superior
I dont see how calling shitty toys lame is losing spaghetti.
And if better paint, more articulation, better sculpts, greater poseability, and just being overall higher quality isn't superior, then nothing is.

And if you want alternatives, just get Shockwaves. Even the 80s and 90s DEA version is better than PTE's shit. They actually look like 80s SWAT, with their basic plain looking vests and jump suits. They're also going for less than $10.
The modern Shockwave comes with removable helmet, cap, AND gas mask, and still looks like the 80s SWAT you want. IT costs $15-20 though, but it's actual good quality.
>>
>>5968585
>I dont see how calling shitty toys lame is losing spaghetti.

Lol you got bum blasted as soon as I explained why I purchased them. You've done nothing but go full speed autismo because someone didn't agree with you.

>so MGR's style, which is basically Colonial Marines from Aliens to appeal to collectors looking for Colonial Marine figures but also appeal to people looking for generic semi-futuristic military makes it not recognizable as SWAT

Yeah, pretty much.

Again, MGR are cool for what they are, but they aren't what I'm looking for and no matter how many times you scream into your Dorito covered keyboard they aren't going to change appearance. I've bought from MGR before, their stuff is cool. But their figures don't look like any of the photos you posted.
>>
>>5968585

I don't see it. Calling something lame ≠ upset
Unlike you, trying to pretend that a figure that wears the same equipment as the police do isn't and then trying to say that you weren't talking about modern police, but 80s ones. Covering your tracks, because it doesn't match up with the bootleg quality toys you bought.

>pretty much
Except the fact that there are different helmets, most based on modern military ones. The fact no MGR figures posted in this thread have the hard shell chest armor.
The ONLY thing they have in common with Aliens' marines is that they're both wearing shin guards, and that's hardly futuristic or sci-fi.

>you tried to avoid that you were wrong about LAPD and LASD SWAT uniforms
Uh, what? I posted the old uniforms of LA to show how much as changed. If you want modern ones, which is wearing the same surplus stuff the MGR figures can use, here.
Again, you're wrong and desperate.
>>
>>5968643
>I posted the old uniforms of LA to show how much as changed.

You posted a picture of modern LASD and old LAPD. At least know what you're posting you dingus.

If you look at contemporary LAPD SWAT they are wearing blue fatigues. Contemporary LASD SWAT are wearing OD fatigues. Just like they have for the last 20+ years. Which was what I stated and you apparently had a problem reading. You're confusing LASD and LAPD, they are two different agencies. But you're a SME, right?

>and then trying to say that you weren't talking about modern police, but 80s ones.

Lol can you not read? I said 70's to late 90's/very early 00's.

Nah I'm one of them and I'm not subjectanon. I'm waiting on an email back from the M&C rep about paying over PayPal and a shipping time estimate.

The shipping price itself wasn't bad for all I bought ($40 for a couple of vehicles and a bunch of figures).
>>
>>5968800
In that case let us know about the vehicles, the HMMVs are nice.
>>
>>5968820
>In that case let us know about the vehicles, the HMMVs are nice.
I plan on it. I got the SWAT HMMWV this time and the Aerial Rocket Helicopter.

I plan on getting a couple of the military HMMWVs, especially the soft top troop carrier and the "cattle car" flat bed one. I also might end up ordering the quonset hut if I can't find it locally. But my local Big Lots gets almost no PTE even during the holiday seasons.

There are also some really cool "sports and adventure" civilian figs on there I might look into as well. The difference in sculpt quality between these and the more modern stuff I have doesn't really bother me, but it is noticeable. Unfortunately there aren't a whole lot of lines stepping up to fill the couple of niches that PTE seems to be able to.
>>
ITT /k/ tier autism over aesthetics.

The PTE vehicles are cool, the figures kinda suck. If you're fine with them, more power to ya. As long as you are happy with what you buy, that's all that matters.

The hummers are more likely to show up and sell out first. The soft top and the cattle one tend to be easier to find in person. The woodland and desert sell out first.

Dont think the hut will show up this year. Probably going to need to order it. I may grab a gray building if I spot them.

Saw the Zombie and the new Asian female fig two pack at TRU. Passed on both. Was tempted by the zombies but they had an ugly wash on them and I wasn't feeling it. Is there a new Snake Eyes/Storm Shadow two pack? Seemed like the ultimate version of both. First time I saw it at this TRU if so. The Asian female chick's headsculpt looked as bad as it did in pics. I was surprised how much i liked Outback. The figure turned our really nice. I agree with you on the vest. Going to have to find him something different. Falcon is bleh but good custom fodder. Im loving the SAW Viper's colors. The bright purple with those black details just look sharp.

Yeah the Saws look like awesome. I do t know that I really care for their helmets but I like the balaclava heads and overall they look like heavy duty urban ops guys.

If anyone from the above conversation is interested - here is my MGR Swat team unit.

Honestly for this get up, the swat man figure will cost a pretty penny. Easily more expensive than a single Acid Rain soldier (which I find to be a better value, best figs in 1/18 atm).

He's still being autistic because someone disagreed with him about the MGR figures. For me they are very sci fi in their design, and I got the feeling during the KS that they were designed to appeal (in addition to regular Joe collectors and fans of MGR) to fans of Aliens due to one of the original armor choices plus the design of the figure. There has been a clamoring for a good 1/18 scale Colonial Marines line since the Hot Toys snap kits and these happened before the Hiya Colonial Marines were a thing.

Marauder does an RPK with drum mag. One of the casters, I want to say Vortious, has an ushanka (furry Russian hat), the rest of the kit is available in some form from either casting sites or various 1:18 figures.

The PP-19 is the only thing I'm foggy on. I want to say Hasbro did one sometime in the last 7 years, but I could be mistaken.

>I want to say Hasbro did one sometime in the last 7 years, but I could be mistaken.

There's an old mold from the original 92 release of Big Bear that Hasbro has reused a quite a few times throughout the JvC/VvV/DTC lines and possibly in the 25th line that looks like a Bizon without the magazine.

I've seen people argue it's actually a Krink without the magazine, but it looks like a Bizon to me. With a little sculpy you could sculpt the tube magazine onto it.
>>
>>5975637
The "new" littlebird or the old actual 1/18 scale littlebird form the early 00's?

If the latter it's well worth it. I still remember walking into a TRU when I was in high school and seeing the Kiowas on clearance for $5 a piece. I walked out with three of them.

That may be the one I'm thinking of. It definitely wouldn't take much to get a helical magazine on there.
