Have someone tried to get this skellie guy from aliexpress?
I like the good amount of face expressions that he had

That's very interesting... I know I'd seen that one before, then I remembered- Kickstarter!
More info on Guluo skeletons on the original Kickstarter page:
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/deepblack/fully-movable-diy-cutest-skelton-figure-guluo/description
Not sure what to make of the Ali Express ad- whether it's genuine or not, and the ad is badly written (clearly English as a second language) so it's vague as to what you get- do you get expansions A, or B or A & B or none? And the photos of the "tools needed" and some vague wording that might mean "tools not included in package".
My suggestion (if you're serious about this) is to try and get it from the project owner on Kickstarter and not thru Ali Express. BTW- checking out the AliEx seller- they sell *BOOTLEG* Figmas. I'd be wary if I were you.
>>5936277
Bit steep for 50 bucks, maybe you can find it cheaper on Taobao
>>5936247
In case anyone wants these, Rakuten still has the full set of Disney Cinemagic Film Vol.1
http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/kidsroom/item/g3947/
>>5936369
You can select version A or B on the Aliexpress site.
>There are two version, Origin Toy with Expand A as ver 1 or Origin Toy with Expand B as ver 2.
Tools are not included, that line is pretty clear.
Still, pretty steep at $50 & $75 depending on which expansion you choose.

GuLuo looks like they're hitting the Picco Neemo market. They want to get the girls who love cutsey, big-headed figures.
>>5936613
Yeah... except Taobao's site is completely in Chinese! If I really needed to, I can get someone in one of my classes to translate it. But I'm not in the market for one.
Another option is ebay.fr or ebay.de. The US ebay doesn't carry it, but the European ones do. In case someone wants to take the chance- 12 bucks plus 18 for postage... 30 bucks total.

There's a literal menagerie of skelly animals now, and most of them have at least one feature that doesn't jive with reality.
I agree, however, that they look damn cool.

The fuck were they thinking?
Still glad I bought these, thanks /SSG/!
Not gonna lie. I bought this Indiana Jones crystal skeleton mostly for the throne. The cool thing is, he is so big for 3.75 inch that he actually fits in with 6 inch figures too. He's only missing wrist and ankle articulation.
>>5941457
I always wondered if that thing was a good figure.
>>5940594
I hate to keep this shitposting up, but I'm bothered by the anatomical incorrectness because I collect and study bones.
On that note, I can always pretend the scorpions and spiders are made up of skeleton pieces to make that form.
In case anyone doesn't know, Mythic Articulations have a bunch of different cryptid skellys, and now have 'in a can' versions that are articulated! $70 is a bit steep, but for a custom printed piece and stuff like wendigos I wouldn't mind.

>>5943355
Doesn't mean I'm going to hamhand them, shit man. And I'm not shilling for mythic, I just thought I'd share, it's no worse than the other folk that have posted the Halloween props skeletons. They're no more display piece than toy than the ball jointed dolls are.
Just enjoy some unique skellys, have some fun, and chill the fuck out.

Most of the pirate stuff i took from my fiancees assassins creed toys. The hat, sword and flint locks. But the chest and what not are from a tub of army men like pirate toys from toys r us.
Spooky month ahead of us, skellyfags
What have you planned for this month with your skellies?
>Some pics from twitter
>>5946081
I love this little set up. Where is it from? And what are their robes made of?
>>5946077
I plan to expand my skeleton army with the BFS skeletons and weapon packs. I have some jeeps and other stuff that i think would be perfect for them.
>>5946052
Love the pirate hat (I really need those!) but really unwilling to buy an Assassin's Creed figure just to strip it of it's hat. Damn... if only these accessories were available separately.
Now why doesn't that Chinese factory bootlegging the Indy figure accessories move along to bootlegging Assassin's Creed hats?
So far, I've tried cloth and leather for pirate hats for skeletons. Cloth one hopeless. Leather one doesn't have the depth I want. Next... moving on to Sculpey.
Is there a bootleg of the Revo Skelly? I have a legit one, but I'd love to get some cheap ones for army building.
>>5947900
Have you tried the Jakks Pirates of the Caribbean figures from 2011? I've got one that definitely works with Pose-chan, but it's looks a tad large on the BFS and Dokuroman skulls.

Skelly #1 was already fairly short. Pink bones aren't a personal selling point, but I'll wait for pics before writing 'er off.
The Western room could be a great starting point.
>>5948585
Well, I'm a cheapskate, and I really don't want to buy figures I don't want just to strip off accessories (and, I need multiple hats).
So, after some experimentation in making pirate hats, Sculpey is the winner! Cloth didn't work- the brim had too many cloth wrinkles and I couldn't get the crown deep enough. Leather was an improvement, but still had a shallow crown. Sculpey was surprisingly easy to work with. Rolled a ball, flattened it with a WD40 can (I misplaced my hobby rolling pin). Wrapped masking tape around a skull and slapped the pancake on the head. Lightly formed a nice deep crown and folded up the brims. It only took a few minutes.
>>5949238
that actually looks decent. gj
>>5948695
>Skeleton 04 Cute person.
This one intrigues me, how one makes a skelly "cute'? personally I find the 01's head a little cute IMO
>Western-style room

>>5949238
Zee-kun, that pirate hat made of sculpey looks really good, great job!
In the pirate note; you should try to make some hooks hands or wood legs for your skellies, that will give them more 'spook'

Thanks for all the compliments, skelly bros! I worked on a few more hats this morning. I made a "hat form" with a bamboo stick and a wooden bead on top and that sped up hat production considerably. Also, this morning, I just discovered that warm Sculpey fresh from the oven is still slightly moldable, so I can put the hat on the exact skelly and it will mold to a perfect custom fit in a minute.
Dokuroman and BFS skelly can share the same hat.
And there's no reason why Kaiyodo Jason/Argo skelly should miss out on the fun of being a pirate! It can share the same hat as October Toys skelly.

Check out every Toys R Us near you! Seriously man, they have been really clearancing the heck out of the McFarlane toys like Halo and Assassin Creed. As low as like 5 dollars for a figure is a good deal in my book when it has a ton of neat accessories you want for other things.
My skelly came in. Very spooped
>>5951453
Don't have a need for HALO, but I have been seeing Assassin's Creed at Ross' Dress for Less for $5.99. I'll consider it if the accessories are irresistable.
I think I solved the "pirate cutlass" problem. I was considering casting the Imaginext pirate cutlass (the red one) but I'm a noob at casting. So I ended up cutting up a MacBook plastic tray (very sturdy black ABS) to a cutlass shape, beefing it up with Squadron Green Putty. Then I cut the blade off a party cocktail sword, drilled a shallow hole in the hilt and glued in the new cutlass blade. Pic still shows pink hilts because I haven't completed painting yet.
BTW the October Toys Jade skeleton (already sold out) is a beautiful piece, but IT WON"T TAKE A PAINT WASH. Plastic is not semi-absorbent like the regular skellys and the wash just beaded up and looked like crap on a semi-transparent skelly. I had a helluva time removing the failed wash experiment.
It's ok.
This is disappointing. If this was white but they kept the bow, it would have been ok.
>>5956784
Hummmm... no. The money is not burning a hole in my pocket for this one. Agree that if it was bone color, it would be better as part of the family, like a teen skeleton.

Realistically, how would mankind fair against an invasion of skeletons?
That is, every currently mostly intact skeleton rising up and forming a warband against humanity, each skeleton being as smart as it was in life.
There draw back is that they can only communicate via bone rattling and if they get a hold of phones that can text.
Could we potentially stop the first skeletons from digging up enough graves to bolster their forces early enough? How many skeletons aren't 6 feet under right now?
>>5936369
i need one of these. ugh where can i get one now.
>>5958606
Well, after looking closer at the Kickstarter for Guluo, turns out that the KS guy was NOT the creator of the skelly. He's just a reseller of already-existing product. Too many red flags that make his KS story bunk.
So, if you're comfortable with Ali Express, here's some links:

I wouldn't feel bad about paying that. I think the DEVGRU ones have passed into the Japanese secondary (i.e. auction) market.
>>5961328
that's about the regular price for it with shipping
>>5961510
Here's the ironic thing. 6 months ago, only the DEVGRU weapons/gripping hands/extra skull accessory pack was still available in gacha machines in Tokyo. The Dokuroman skellys were sold out everywhere.
Now it's reversed where the skellys have gotten much easier to get and now the weapons/gripping hands/extra skull accessory pack are HTF. At the time, we had no idea that Kaiyodo was going to reissue the skellys and let the DEVGRU packs phase out. I really should pumped more 100 yen coins into the gacha machine for more DEVGRU. Damn, hindsight is 20/20.
>>5960382
It sure looks like a Nendo, doesn't it? I have not been able to find the original source yet, so right now the seller on Ali Express with the really bad English is the only source. I'd recommend waiting for a bit, and perhaps other sellers will start to carry the Guluo with multiple faceplates.
Back, skelly-bros.
I'm still working on the DIY dollhouse "Captain's Bar" with a lot of modifications. The interior is mostly complete, and I'll be working on the exteriors. I've decided to go full-blown Disneyland for this one!
It's kind of a good thing I can make pirate hats and cutlasses. With 5 cutlasses and 4 hats, that's 5 Assassin's Creed figures that I didn't have to buy. LOL

October Toys' Jade green skelly, which was a limited June 2016 drop. It sold out pretty quickly, so I guess ebay would be your best bet.
>>5963519
Casting the gripping hands sounds interesting, but are you sure that resin will capture the detail of the trigger finger? That seems to be the most likely place for the cast to fail.
>>5963783
As much as I love the October Toys skellys, the orange color isn't doing anything for me. It looks too edible. Looks like an elaborate piece of candy!
>>5941614
Has anyone bought these? I am extremely tempted on quite a few of them but a little nervous about quality for a pretty steep price from some Etsy-shop tier company.
If they're even on par with, say Revoltech's skellies, I'd probably start buying them in a heartbeat. They look fucking awesome in pictures.
>>5964480
Cleric Beast?
>>5964480
They are alparently extremly brittle, and personally way to exspensive for me.
If you really want a Wendigo wait for the creatureplica one
>>5964480
Shapewaysfag reporting.
Never bought those yet (plan to get Bigfoot to mod with my own joints when money isn't as tight) but WSF is a little brittle like that anon said. It's sturdier at +3mm thickness but honestly with prints I've done of tiny-ass joints and such it's about as delicate as a lithe figma without the flexibility of PVC (WSF is just sinterized nylon). Just be careful with them is all I can say.
>>5963943
How quickly does October toys typically sell out? I wanna snab an orange skeleton or two but I'm busy tomorrow until 5pm
Also has anyone combined it with any gylos system parts? I haven't owned any gylos, but now I'm curious...
Do you guys think you could modify those bird and skelly decorations from dollar general with joints or would it not be possible considering its hollow plastic?
>>5964614
They probably won't sell out; OT is kind of dying.
Not my pic, but they all have the same pegs so it all works together.
>>5964731
This one kind of looks like the DOOM's Revenant
Now I'm sad, because he doesn't have a articulated figure
>>5964731
Based on the last 2 colored drops (Jade green, Earthen spawn) the stock lasts for a few days. You should be good.
To see the October Toys skellys fully integrated with Glyos, check out Balok's Blog:
http://balok-blog.tumblr.com/search/skeleton
Balok is way more into Glyos than I am. He loves Glyos, which brings the skellys into a more robotic outer space world.
>>5964579
*sigh*, yes, that's what I thought. The joints aren't Revoltech (Hinge + 360 rotation). The Mystic Articulations joints look more like Dokuroman joints- a friction-based ball joint.
So, I take it that "articulation" in this context means "not a statue", and you can pose the limbs once or twice for display, but they're not for play, right?
>>5936231
oh wow, I only just realized that two of my pictures are in the OP, thanks

thanks for the heads up though, I may not have known otherwise
>>5967553
Radioactive skelly>carrot skelly. Aww yess
>>5967953
Yes, that's right. A post by George Gaspar said that a few were "found in a box", so what's available now is not a full factory order- it's a few forgotten leftovers. Get it while you can.
Seen some distressing rumors that they're "floundering". If that's true, I'm sad for them. They might be able to staunch the bleeding by, say, having the factory crank out some more transparent blue skellys as well as the smoke gray transparent ones. Clearly, they are in no position to restart the Grimskull KS, but they can at least turn a small profit in offering these alternate colors.
>>5941555
What is that pink thing
>>5968184
Also, I only feel like spending for two and currently I don't have any OT Skellies.
Should I get Pumpkin and Jade or Bone and Jade? I can't decide. The pumpkin one looks like a really nice shade of orange and very halloween-y, but the bone one would be a nice generic pocket skeleton.
Thanks for the heads up, grabbed 1 of each.

I think it's because they look neat. And, the unique colors sell for much higher prices afterwards on the secondary market, because they're only small runs. The basic bone one gets restocked, but the color ones don't.
From what I recall, these are/were the colors that the October Toys skellys were cast in:
Kickstarter transparent blue
Original Bone
Glow In the Dark
Pit Lurker (turquoise w/ grey wash)
Bone w/ Deluxe Paint Wash
Earthen Spawn Tan
Jade Green
Pumpkin Spice
this is making me wish that I had more than blue and red LEDs

What exactly is it? Some sort of Minecraft set? If the skull is huge like that, it could be useful for storage or cave/building decor. The blocky, pixel-y other items would only work in a Minecraft context. They wouldn't look good next to the more realistic skeletons like Kaiyodo Jason/Argo.
>>5940708
where can I get those hats?
>>5971328
>Some sort of Minecraft set?
Nah, man. That's clearly Terraria.
One of the bosses, Skeletron. The accessories look to be the hand grapple, dungeon key, book of skulls, skull mask, and the baby floating skull pet you get for beating him without talking to the old man.
Odd. I had no idea they made Terraria toys. What other ones do they have? Are there minifigs? I wouldn't mind having a little Dryad to put on my desk.

Are there any cheaper ones?

Is the best skellie available.
>>5973104
There's a few factors to consider:
1) Do you only want a new one, or is pre-owned acceptable?
2) Do you need the box, or is loose OK?
3) Are you picky about version 1 or version 2 or doesn't matter?
4) Do you have to get all of the accessories?
$80 is an OK price, but you can get a better deal on ebay is you're patient. Yesterday, one closed at $54, new.

>>5973404
Yes. Buy as many as you can. They're totally worth it.
Just got a delivery in. Very pleased with how everything is. Have another 03 coming and two October toys skeletons on their way.
>>5973404
The articulation of the pose 03 skelly really makes up for the lack of gritty detail the others have. It can conform and hold position quite well. The joints themselves are great for their size. Buy as many as you can.
My jade skeleton came in the mail today. They're not as bulky in hand as they always looked in OT's pictures. From the waist up I really like him, but man that pelvis looks stupidly wide and kind of undetailed compared to the rest of the figure.
>>5973587
That's a woman's pelvis
You got a female skellie
>>5973587
It's a deliberate stylization based on the "Skeleton Warriors" 90's era cartoon. October Toys got the license to manufacture new toys based on the cartoon, so George Gaspar sculpted the skeletons to look *just* like the art dept style sheet, including all of the anatomical inaccuracies. The pelvis is especially weird-looking, but it is true-to-the-cartoon.
They planned/hoped/wished that they could continue the line, but last year's failed Grimskull Kickstarter revealed exactly how many diehard cartoon fans wanted action figures to be made of specific characters. Not enough people to raise $50,000 *per character", so they've been in limbo for over a year.
Example of TV show artwork, with weird pelvis and all:
>>5973949
Ah fair enough. I knew they were from a show but I had no idea what it actually looked like. I get what what there going for buts still kind of a shame.
>>5973258
I dunno- the site is in Japanese, and meant for a Japanese audience. By clicking the "English" translation, we get some pretty generic and vague descriptions of what you really get. If you want to make sure all of the parts are included, or the extent of the "packaging damage" you'd have quite a language barrier in communicating with the seller. And, int'l shipping at 2,000 yen (20 bucks to the USA) would eat up any savings over ebay listings.
※all items are secondhand and sold in “AS IS” condition, so please expect some minor stains/damage on both the?package and its contents.
* the condition of the actual goods may different from the picture
※ This item is also being sold in the shop and may be out of stock without prior notice.*shipping overseas might cause some?damage
No thanks. I'd feel safer with ebay, since PayPal will mediate any disputes with the seller and issue a refund if you're not happy.
>>5973964
This is the description "opened, package damaged". This mean's it's fucking pristine and one of the corners is slightly knicked. Manda never sells incomplete without mentioning it. 2k yen would be for EMS, which is the fastest possible shipping, slower would be way cheaper.
The as is blurb is just to cover their asses.
Also, all the ebay sellers are in fucking japan too, so they'd have the exact same shipping options.
YOOO Just got all my Halloween skellys, cant wait to put them together, never had these kind before
>>5973949
Why didnt we have a thread about that kickstarter?
I would have stuck my wallet into it if i knew about it.
>>5974666
We did, satan. First KS was okay, but barely made it. I went in for about a dozen or so GITD skeletons and Baron Skull. The end result was just okay.
The second KS felt like a vanity project for the guy's GF, and Grimskull was her husbando. It felt NTR and nobody was really that enthused with the first KS, so it died.
>>5974704
I think they got the Skeleton Warriors license with a sincere intention on remaking the entire line. But they overestimated the demand, and when the Grimskull KS tanked... I dunno... seems like all the heart and enthusiasm went out of them and they went into hibernation.
So many things went wrong with the Grimskull KS. It wasn't well thought-out from the beginning. $50,000 for a single character? No mold re-use? They're not Hasbro and it's obvious that launching a new $50,000 KS for each character wasn't gonna work. Smarter companies figure out ways to maximize the number of different characters using a minimum of molds (see: Boss Fight Studio)
Offering a dog/wolf as a bonus, while Schleich, Papo and Safari Ltd already made better ones? No army-builder? No new skeleton parts? No skeleton guards? Closing their forum and scattering their own fanbase?
Don't get me wrong- I like October Toys and the Gaspars, but man, that Grimskull KS must've really hit them hard, almost to being a knockout punch.
>>5975083
Is Aileen a tranny?
>>5973957
Oh, by the way, the pelvis and heavy legbones appearance issues can be mitigated with accessories, like greaves and belts. Even though the OT skeletons have big holes in the pelvis blades where they don't belong, I used the holes to thread belts through them. Make lemonade...
My OT's came in. These would have been pretty cool to have as a kid. I think I'm going to go for more pose accessories.
It fucking amazes me how I can get like a 3 and 3/4" scale extremely poseable and well sculpted skeleton with some paint detail, a base and accessories for only $3-$5 in a fucking gashapon machine in Japan
But in America we charge upwards of $10 for figures of the same size with less articulation, less accessories, and no base.
>>5975755
Why is that though? Skeletons use less plastic? Maybe, I don't know. American figures use different engineering? Like, I have a Marvel universe figure right here with way more point of articulation, but I can't nearly get him into as many poses as the skeletons in pic related. The main difference is how they engineered the POA, why don't American toy companies take more advantage of ball joints? I'm no expert, but I feel like if implemented right, American figures could made more range, and it'd cost less to engineer wouldn't it? Again, I'm no expert, so I don't know, but I can atleast tell ball joints are way less complicated in function than like swivel hinges and whatnot.
>>5975758
As cool as these things are, they feel so brittle and aren't really meant to be played with, which is what Marvel Universe figures would be primarily for. The gasha skellies have flimsy joints and parts that bounce back after moving them a bit, etc, and they look nice but you can tell they're not nearly as solidly built as an MU figure, or a Shodo Vs figure (these, in my opinion, are one of the best figures in the scale for the price, playability, and everything else they offer), or other 3 3/4" figure.
>>5974704
I only remember the first kickstarter.
Second one? Didn't exist here.
Was it stuck into some random thread or something?
>>5975755
Which ones are the Japanese skeletons you're talking about? the midget things in this thread that are more simply made?
>why don't American toy companies take more advantage of ball joints?
Different standards.
Better sculpts are expected.
Form > function
>>5975770
He's talking about the ones in his pic. They're from a Gashapon line from Kaiyodo. You're thinking of pose Skeletons from rement.
>>5975770
But balljoints arent any aesthetically less pleasing than any other joints
>>5975794
We're talking about ball and socket joints, yes? Aren't ball joints normally referring to the joint shaped like a ball with a hinge in the middle? Regardless, ever since Beast Wars I've really liked ball pegs (ball and socket joints). Those figures felt like they were way ahead of their time, and so did RID for the most part, then Armada came and everything felt like it went backwards. Regardless, a well executed ball peg is fine by me.
>>5975755
I feel like such a scrub for passing on the military skellies. Luckily I've got the Halloween ones on their way to me.
I'm kinda going nuts over pirates! I found an unused dollhouse storefront (without a store) in my parts box, so skeleton pirate haberdashery is my next project!
>>5975755
It amazes me that Japan has such an awesome gachapon culture. I've seen it- hundreds of machines, catering to guys and gals- little well-made plastic treasures for all tastes. If you want 1:18 accessories, they have plenty: folding chairs, desks, luggage, school and office furniture, shopping carts, buggies... etc. etc. Such a wealth of goodies.
Oh, and people in Japan also leave bicycles unlocked at night in unattended bicycle parking lots. And their trains run on time. And they don't have homeless and druggies wandering around the streets at night.
I gotta go back.
>>5975781
>They're from a Gashapon line from Kaiyodo
Well, that explains why they're so cheap and the fact that they're sold in machines by the tens of thousands.
And ball joints are more simple to assemble/produce.... are they even assembled in the bubble? That would be a cost cutting feature too.
>>5975794
>But balljoints arent any aesthetically less pleasing
Eh, they're different.
They cut out a larger part of the sculpt in order for them to work to maximum effect and then there's the ball joint itself being exposed front and center.
I don't think one type of joint is necessarily better than the other aesthetically, but people have differing views on which joint bothers them the most/least.
>>5975914
They're not assembled. They come in parts in a bag along with a small base.
>>5975860
>they don't have homeless and druggies
Really?
What do they do with the mentally ill?
In the US, there wasn't a big homeless problem until somewhere in the 70s and 80s, when it became illegal to hold the mentally ill unless they posed a problem to themselves or others. Even then, they can only be held for a couple of days, which is usually enough for them to calm down.

In case of american toys, there are toys aimed for kids, whereas japanese are mostly aimed for adult collectors, so in the case of american figures, they are ingeniered to sustain the usual damage that a greasy-fingers fat kid could do to a toy and don't break that easily, these skellies couldn't survive that same handling, so that's why toymakers made them diffently
>>5975991
>doesn't know that HACKS were made for and sold to adults with credit cards
okay, i'm sure there was one or two kids who got their parents credit card, but the company who made them meant them for adult who are enthusiastic for toys such as themselves.
>>5975997
Well, for american toy, I was refering to your tipical Marvel Legend or DC Direct or whatever line is callled, HACKS figs is a case of american toy made for adult collectors
>>5976011
>DC Direct
>makes toys for kids
Your knowledge on the topic is profound.
I guess this is why you're saying a gashapon series like those skeletons are aimed at adult collectors.
>>5975973
I really have no idea. I can't say what Japan's social safety net looks like. Their culture is very different than ours, and people are conditioned to behave for the greater good, as opposed to the individuality that we're used to. We might call them repressed and they might call us violent and impulsive.
I'm just making an observation about what it's like getting off of the Tokyo subway and walking to the hotel at night. I saw NO druggies and NO homeless in the middle of a large city. I was really shocked to see those bicycles sitting around unlocked. I KNOW for a fact that such bicycles wouldn't last 5 minutes in any large American city.
Another interesting thing I observed- incredible politeness. When I was at Kaiyodo Hobby Lobby in Akihabara, buying some Kaiyodo stuff, as well as being at Tokyo Disneyland, it is a custom for a merchant to bow and hand you your receipt with both hands when you make a purchase. I felt like such a Neanderthal. LOL.
>>5976024
I admit that I'm not a DC fan, I said DC Direct from the top of my head, because I didn't remember the names of the diferent lines that these guys have,
Also you can't deny that adult collect gashapon, sure for that price, kids can buy them too, but I believe that kids would get gashapons toys form animes more aimed for them.there are plenty of animes that fill that role.
I like these but they really need an abdominal ball jont or something.
Props for being the sturdiest skeleton at this scale though.
>>5976054
>you can't deny that adult collect gashapon, sure for that price, kids can buy them too
UH huh, just like how adults buy kids toys like GI Joes and Marvel Legends?
>I believe that kids would get gashapons toys form animes more aimed for them.there are plenty of animes that fill that role
Seriously, your knowledge is profound.
Kids have been buying cheapshit out of vending machines for a long time that aren't based on any licensed properties, and some vending machine shit got popular enough to be considered a licensed property.
Anyway, part of the reason toys like that can be found for so little is just for the simple fact that Japan is so small. Distribution doesn't need to happen over thousands and thousands of miles, and population centers are actually centered and not spread out as much. Then there's also randomness that makes betting fun, so you have kids spending more money on trying to get exactly what they want. Sorta the reason Loot Crate became so popular. Them being so inexpensive also helps. Also, not being licensed products.
>>5976028
so after some reading, Japan is pre-1970s US when it comes to not allowing the mentally ill out of their wards. That would explain why you didn't see many, if any, homeless people.
>>5976024
>I guess this is why you're saying a gashapon series like those skeletons are aimed at adult collectors.
They are, the pieces and joints are fragile.
>>5976234
>>5976028
> people in Japan also leave bicycles unlocked at night in unattended bicycle parking lots. And their trains run on time. And they don't have homeless and druggies wandering around the streets at night.
The bicycle thing isn't true. Most bikes have a small shitty spoke lock. bicycle theft is a huge thing there. I had 2 bikes stolen because I forgot to lock it.
homeless exist. but they live in "blue tarp" communities usually occupying a public park. They'll get kicked out if there's a big expo/convention happening.
The train thing is true. Public transit is a thing of beauty, even buses. It's like clockwork.
>>5976234
>UH huh, just like how adults buy kids toys like GI Joes and Marvel Legends?
Yeah, these are kids toys that are purchased by manchildren, same as the furfag bronys who purchased toys made specifically to little girls, even in japan there are otaku manchildren who get all the precure/magical girl shit that there is out there
>Sorta the reason Loot Crate became so popular.
Seriously?. this shit is becoming popular thanks to the casual normies who wants to be part of the geek culture is this is one method to feel that they are part of the trend, most of the carp that is included in these would be shelfwarming and still no one would buy it, that why you see these POP crap figures included there
Yeah, your knowledge is profound too, friend.
So is it impossible to get one of these now?
>>5976550
>Not getting him during the last reissue
I feel bad for you anon
>>5976550
It's pretty easy to get now, through Toysanta@Rakuten, or ebay. Current product can be found as Kaiyodo Dokuroman Pumpkin Nightmare.
The hands, though... the gripping hands in the pic came from the companion weapons pack gacha that has now become scarce.
If you're OK with open "spellcasting" hands or clenched fists, then Pumpkin Nightmare will fit the bill just fine.
>>5976574

>>5973964
Many is usually better for buying multiple things at once, to save on the shipping, but as someone who has used it a few times, every time i've encountered "packaging damage," it's because the flap is slightly bent, or one of the corners have a kink in it. Figures are usually in great condition unless stated otherwise.
>>5975860
>No homeless and druggies wandering around at night
I don't know man, Japan still has that. It really depends on where you are, though.
That said, the real difference is that instead of stealing bikes, people steal umbrellas. Those mummy fucks.
>>5976484
You kinda missed the point, in that you were claiming the skeletons were aimed at adults and saying kids toys are bad, but its clearly not true.
>Seriously?. this shit is becoming popular thanks to the casual normies
Oh geez, did you really get triggered by mentioning something popular and ignored the point?.
Those Loot Crates are selling shit people pass by in stores all the time, yet when they're in mystery boxes, they'll buy that shit right up month after month. Again, vending machine toys work on the same principle. People like betting all the time on these stupid things because it's "fun".
It's a form of gambling and people will put more money into it than they normally would, to the point that gets people who wouldn't normally give a shit into it.
So the vendors/toy makers know they're going to sell more, thus are able to lower the price point. Same shit with blind box toys.
>>5976389
You'd be surprised how many kids toys over there are fragile.
Or just look at how popular models are over there with kids.
>>5977963
lol, still wrong, you obviously don't own one of these skellies, the package recommended age is 15 years and up, not for kids.
Please show us your skellies next time before posting.
>>5978056
>doesn't know that gundam kits and other babby models in japan say the same shit

>>5978056
15yo are still children tho. Gunpla still have age recommendations but cater to their primary demographic of children (hence stuff like AGE/try), manchildren are a close second. Just because it's not 6+ doesn't mean little 9yo tojo won't drop a few nip coins for a sweet spoopy pumpkin skelly.
>>5977963
>in that you were claiming the skeletons were aimed at adults and saying kids toys are bad, but its clearly not true.
No, you're the one that is missing the point
My point in >>5975991 was that american toys that are aimed for kids (Marvel, DC or any other company) are made to sustain more damage that could comes from a hamhanded kids, I'm not saying that american toys are bad, maybe the gasha skellies aren't only mean for adult collectors, but the adult sector is a very important demographic target for these items
> People like betting all the time on these stupid things because it's "fun".
I get your point of the 'gambling fun' of the gasha machines and I agree with it, but your example with LootCrap is terrible, there isn't a gambling element in that, if you buy one, all you are getting is a box full of shitty items tossed together around a theme (Sci-fi, Heroes, Horror, whatever) If I remember correctly, you can find the content of the new box of the month online shortly before it comes out; if you find that 'fun', then I pity you, anon.

Which totally misses the point to the posts you're replying to, which is why those specific skeletons are so cheap compared to the US ones.
I guess my responses to you based on the previous the other posts was made rather moot.
So you're basically ranting alone in a corner away from the rest of this thread, because nothing you said applies to that post and the other posts.
>your example with LootCrap is terrible, there isn't a gambling element in that
Considering how triggered you got over this, your view is pretty skewed.
It's exactly like gambling, because people have a monthly subscription to these boxes, years/months ahead of time. That element of a surprise reward keeps them coming back for more and more, even if it's not something they like. The only reason they get to know what's in the box is from the people who get the box the fastest.
No doubt, these people get the same thrill as people here have over ordering something online or hunting physical stores, but when they finally own the toy, it gets put into the BST a couple of months later.
They're buying shit just to buy for different reasons, but they're both addicts.
>>5978885

It doesn't look like they have any.
Kinda makes me want to pay for those steel can etsy figures because they have more unique choices with articulation.

>Question about the armor and the lower strap not being strapped-on the skelly. Is that because it might break? Is the strap stretchy or is it regular PVC?
It's regular pvc but it *almost* fits. I could probably stretch it with hit water, but it would always be stretched. I think I'm going to get an extra just to do that because I really like him as a big ghost skeleton warrior guy.

I've never been to Beijing, but I can vouch for Hong Kong. You won't find hundreds of gachapon machines in HK- that's a Japan thing. Instead, HK has these "shopping malls" with dozens of tiny, tiny toy shops in them, like 8 feet by 8 feet shops! It's really claustrophobic.
Gachapon is sold in HK by a) putting them in small plastic bags and hanging them on the wall or b) hanging up laminated backer sheets (the ones normally placed inside the gacha machine). When you see the series you want, you remove the laminated sheet, hand it to the storekeeper and they will pull the gacha out of a drawer for you. They have a tendency to want to sell you complete sets.

Toyzone is massive. Aisle after aisle of stuff. A long time ago, I used to be in to military models, and a lot of them are no longer produced. Toyzone had them. So many memories came back when I saw them.

The Walt Disney dancing skeleton gacha were in machines at a 7-Eleven in the Mong Kok district. Their machines were set to take HK $10 coins so for about $1.20, you could be the owner of some Disney figurines and you might be able to land a skeleton!

I think it's a skeleflex.

This is scarier than any skeleton
Can someone post a size comparison of a pose skeleton, a T-Rex, and a 1:12 scale figure? thanks

>skeleflex.
I totally forgot that this line existed
Pretty cool figures if you ask me
Did a poor photo of crazy cat skeleton man, wish I had some tiny pumpkins. With Halloween right around the corner I'd like to see more spooky photos of everyones collection!
>I made this myself
Still very happy with my guys. I accidentally stumbled into /toy/ last year, shortly before halloween, noticed a skelly thread, and I was sold.
Mr bones get your shit together. DYEL
Are there any good high-end Halloween skeletons this year? I'm thinking about hitting up one of those seasonal Halloween stores on Nov 1st to look for discount skellies.
A mod to increase the range of motion on model skeletons

??? what are you looking for? High-end skeletons or skeletons you can buy at a discount on Nov 1? The twain shall not meet.
High-end (toy) skeletons are usually sold via mail-order, unless you live in Japan. You can shop around online, but those items don't get discounted on Nov 1.
The stuff you see in Halloween stores is generally the cheap China junk. They do make passable life-sized skeletons at the $89 level, but those are not toys, per se. Their toy skeletons are cheap, look cheap and are mostly mass-market crap. Kaiyodo has zero competition from them, lol.
On Nov 1, you can probably pick up some of the rat skeletons, lizard skeletons and bird skeletons to use as mounts for other toy skeletons. Those are pretty decent for $6.00, and even better at $3.00.

>That's clearly Terraria
I hope that was just a jokeful way of saying it and you don't actually believe that Terraria and Minecraft look so different.
Some pics for the Oden stall set

1/12? Me so want this for my figmas.
>>5997225
Yeah, it looks great
Here is the product page, where you can see all the pieces that comes in the set

It is more like 1/18 scale, so it won't work with figmas, maybe the food items
>>5997233
Shit, that'd be great for G.I. Joes and star warses.
>>5997146
I'd like something in the 1/3 to 1/2 scale range, but I'd go as small as 1/6 if necessary. I'm so fed up with my COO skel's poor articulation.
I'm desperate enough that I might just save up for a desktop medical skeleton. Those don't generally hold poses on their own though, so I'd have to wire the joints.

REAL AMERICAN HEROES wouldn't be caught dead at a mongolian spaghetti stand
>>5997228
actually is close to 1/20, works well with 1:18 too

Nice Oden stand! Unfortunately, it's too small for me, since my family of skeletons are of varying sizes.
1:12 is too far away from 1:18, so I don't think the food items will work. Good news is that there's plenty of booze bottles in 1:12 (standard dollhouse scale) and the meat skewers can be made with a toothpick and Sculpey clay.

Now why would Joes want to eat C-Rations and cold MRE packages when they can have some delicious cooked meats on a skewer, or a steaming hot bowl of soup, noodles and fresh veggies/fish/meats?
1:12/Figma version is do-able with scratchbuilding. At the time I built this, I didn't think to add an axle or wheels. There is a cheapie covered-wagon kit by Darice that sells for $2.00 that provide the wheels. Sorry about the unclothed Figma. I haven't come up with any clothing options for her yet.

Neat, I went to my Brother's Girlfriend's Party yesterday also with one of my little skellie buddies, funny thing is that I was too drunk to remember to take some pics, poor little guy spent almost all Halloween night in my pockets.
New thread soon?
Happy Dia de los muertos mis amigos
