TFS got hacked twice and the hackers got the cc informations of the customers both times. They never admitted the issue came from them. There's plenty of people bitching about it in some old threads on TFW2005 and such. They also lie to their customers from time to time like with MP Ramjet: they said Takara recalled the figures to fix some assembly issues while TFS actually fixed the figures themselves.

That's the main appeal to them, and unsurprisingly there's people who want such alternatives (especially for characters whose robot designs cannot work with their altmode that well, such as G1 Megatron, most Bayshit, etc).

So I've been messing around with striker manus for a while now, and I really wanted to like him, but he just feels kind of like a mess. My biggest gripe is they didn't give him heels. He's got a million fucking joints going on in his feet, but he'll tip over if breathe on him because the back of his feet literally don't go past the middle of his leg. He's cool when you have him hunched and his center of gravity is forward, but he's frustrating as hell to make work normally.

I got some of the KO Black Perfect Effect hands/feet that I think will look good on him. I don't really think he needs any major fixing like the Prime/Motormaster mold did. I'm also not THAT connected to the LioKaiser character, so the fact that it's a 5 bot combiner with a Skylynx repaint/remold as a torso doesn't bother me at all; especially since I never bought the Sky Lynx mold to begin with.

Mainline combiners are around $15 per limb (on release anyway, nowadays everythings scalped to shit) with a $25 torso bot. So $85.

The box sets are around $100 because they come with a 6th figure, but places also discount those pretty heavily at times. Shit, Victorion was $40 2 days ago.

The Tak UW sets begin around $120 IIRC, but thats because Japan overprices everything under the guise of "collector marketand half a cent worth more of paint sometimes lol" for some sets, and goes remold crazy on the others.

Weird how this works. Gcreations has the art proportions and design down pat, but Generation's Toy's changes to the proportions make it look great in its own right. Same shit with GT's Bomber megs. Wrong proportions compared to the art but it looks like a great figure in its own right.

Hopefully one fucks up or something and makes the other the easy choice. Otherwise this is going to be tough.

I also feel like the SND CW kit should be added to this list since it is this Optimus they're going for. Beezleboss's kit is actually going for the art for CW Prime.

X2 TOYS - BG-AP Base Background. They come in Orange (Autobot) and Purple (Decepticon).

They were originally announced last year around this time period. The first parts (at least for the orange displays) came with the add-on to MP Bumblebee.

Quality-wise, or as far as aesthetics? Because I can see how the PF matches the shift into cartoon aesthetics, since Scoria was more of a hybrid style like Grimlock or Optimus.

This is why I get so nervous about collecting 3P MP; it feels like they can get outdated so fast. Its why if I do start collecting MP Dinobots, I'll go for Gigapower; since I feel their pure toy aesthetic with modern redesigning seems more timeless and able to stand on their own better.

But UW and CW combiners are cheap, hollow trash. They can't hold a candle to unofficial options unless it's warbotron or some other shit company. Even ignoring the fact that they're all retools of eachother they still lack actual decent feet and hands. They weigh nothing.

They lack paint. The upgrade kits are getting more extensive and starting to include new heads and chest plates to cover the cheapness. I always giggle seeing the peasants in the poorfag thread displaying their polished turds next to actual quality MP'S and third party collectors options.

The actual problem with 3P combiners. No matter how strong your ratchets are, it won't save you from the pull of gravity when posing, that'll make your big heavy dude tumble over. The whole reason you can pose the CW stuff decently well is because they're pretty light thanks to HasTak cheaping out on everything, so they're not pulled down by their own weight.

Honestly I buy whatever's best. I bought Guardia after my UW Defensor suffered from Cracked HFG Port Syndrome (could have been the fault of the Nonnef feet I used but the plastic definitely felt suspect) and I love him. One of his hip ratchets is a tad loose...but it's better than UW, whose hips barely stayed together, and it doesn't hinder him in general posing. It just means he won't be doing any high kicks any time soon. And that aside he's one of the most solid, well built toys I own.
