Dr. Strange Set Out Edition

Old Thread >>5906615

>last wave of the year is trickling out
Good, now I don't have to worry about anything else coming out.
Now I just have to play a lot of catch up on the waves I missed.
>>
Out of all the upcoming figures, which one are you looking forward to the most?

I can't wait for Black Suit Spidey, followed closely by Darkhawk.
>>
>>5922295
90s Cyclops. Followed by Kamala and the Warlock BAF.
>>
Which ones are going to be the hardest to find?
>>
>>5922295
Jim Lee Cyclops is coming, and I cannot wait.
>>
>>5922303
I don't care about any of them, but I feel like Nico's gonna be tough. Astral Strange is absolutely gonna shelf warm.
>>
>>5922303

I don't think any of them will be. No major favorites there for casuals.
>>
>>5922295
Kamala, even though she'll be disapointing. Black suit spiderman is up there, but man, I really hope they don't stick with the glossy black. I could sort of see if they wanted to give it a symbiote wet goop effect, but it's weird that he'd have it but literally none of the dozen other symbiotes they've done do.

>>5922303
Nico, then iron fist, then probably movie strange or enchantress. It was pretty thoughtful of them to include a bonus astral doctor strange in with the $20 dormammu head though.
>>
>>5922303
>no one the average casual would even recognize

An entire wave of shelfwarmers? Hasbro is absolutely mad.
>>
>>5922295
I love the Goblins so I'm really looking forward to seeing how Green Goblin turns out, even if I'm already satisfied with the ToyBiz one. Hoping he comes with an alternate Norman Osborn head.
Behind him is Black Suit Spidey.

Same. Will have to get a couple more flight stands for those two.

Fedex delivered my HasbroToyShop order to the wrong address, no notification or info of where. Fortunately, this happens a lot with house around the block from me, so I drove by and there my box was. Got a WWII Cap and Captain Marvel.
CM had WAY better paint than the first one I used to own. WWII Cap is alright, but I want to try to replace his horrible ankles, and I need to get him a new shield. Actually, his legs from the hips down are awful, but I am still glad to have him.
Headswapping is fun as hell with this figure.

Dang, maybe it's just the lighting, particularly in the second pic, but cap actually looks pretty good there. I'm kind of regretting passing on him.

Also, deadpool's unmasked head is probably the most effort hasbro's put into a head. I didn't really notice it until I had one in hand, but it's kind of amazing.

wat?
Deadpool is probably the easiest shit they've had to lazy and fool around with.
It's no better than the GI Joe zombies they've made and that was 1:18 scale. 50% smaller.
Any of their realistic efforts are their best efforts.
>>
>>5922557
I was talking about paint, and even then the sculpt isn't bad.
>>
>>5922303
I really want to collect Dormammu, but being I only want movie strange, Iron Fist and maybe Mordo that isnt gonna be easy.
>>
>>5922334
Apparently having your own movie means casuals don't know who you are
>>

How can it feel like I got a great deal and also fleeced at the same time.

Nah fampai, keep telling yourself that. I can't really talk though, I'm about to overpay for Rocket Raccoon wave Jean Grey
>>
>>5922303
Saw remnants of a wave at TRU the other day. Movie black guy, comic black guy and comic strange were the only ones there.

All I want is Nico and Danny personally.

>>
I'm kind of new at this, any recommendations for stands to use with Legends figures?

Spider-Man 2099 because of his awesome design and that beautiful new body sculpt. Also cant wait for the new body sculpt for Spidey UK to be used on other figures

I bet there was actually like one or two more, like idk a movie strange too but you left it out of your story for your little racist bit.

A heads up to all fellow (east coast) Canadians, I found the entire Dr. Strange wave earlier today at my local EB. And to anyone else reading this, ask a guy with the entire Strange wave anything. I've only opened Iron Fist so far.

>>5922811
They've been out here in Canada for a few weeks

>>5922744
Neither, he's just pearlescent (the worst looking way to do 'phasing' figures)

>>5922295
Probably 90s Cyclops to bring me one step closer to completing pic related. Would've been Polaris if she had her X-Force costume.
>>
>>5922814
You don't even have to say Astral Strange will shelfwarm, it's like worse than garbage.
It would be garbage enough if it had some more accesories, but it doesn't have either of the hands or rune that normal Strange comes with.
I think they left out extra shit because they knew it wouldn't sell and doing the accesories normal Strange has would be a waste.

Iron fist and baron mordo.

Cumberstrange might be hard to find, but the white one will be fine until after the movie, and the goth girl will be collector market only.

That comic strange is going to shelfwarm.
>>
>>5923107
Yeah comic strange will probably shelfwarm because it's pretty much the same figure as the Hulkbuster wave one, only with a cape this time. They should have at least repainted it into classic Strange.
>>
>>5923124
To be entirely fair, it's only the color scheme that makes it look so same-y. The pattern on the chest is different and the forearms and hands are different too.

I do agree they should've done classic Strange instead, though.

I think it's starting to become more and more clear that hasbro's MO for waves is one or two sure hits propping up 5-6 characters that maybe wouldn't sell without baf parts. I don't think she'd be spider-gwen levels of popularity, but I'm getting the feeling they're saving her as the carrot for a spider-man wave with a bunch of c-listers.
>>
>>5923981
lmao ok

>>5924001
Alright, makes sense.

Where should I start reading after finishing Venom vol2? spaceknight?
>>
>>5923450
Hasbro isn't above re-doing characters Toybiz has already done, so I wouldn't be surprised if they did. If I can't have him, I'd go for a Kev Walker inspired Man-Thing.

>>5923514
"Lady Loki" from Thor's 2007 series. Appeared throughout Marvel during the post-Civil War era to right before Siege happened. Also appeared in the Secret Wars' series A-Force. She might be a better fit for a Thor 3 wave, so maybe swap her out for a re-released Satana

Other character is Strange/Paradox. He was a supernatural avatar Dr. Strange created with magical energy to assist him during the 90s.

>>5923516
I just want A Blade figure. Despite that constantly reused mold & coat, I was really looking forward to him when he was announced for the Epic Heroes wave. Wouldn't mind a classic/first appearance Blade, either.

Depends. Do you want to read about Venom, or Mania?

If want to find out about Venom, you'll have to read some Bendis GotG, but if you're just in it for Mania, you can probably just skip straight to spaceknight. You can even just skip the first 5 issues if you want (But I'd give it a chance anyway)

I've got some Act 4's and love them. Apparently the bootlegs that are on aliexpress are identical in quality to the official ones, but are only like $2.50 a piece.

Just got my Wolverine open, and wow, they really should have made his alt hands grips instead of closed fists.

Aw man, no way will this fit on my giant head. My cranium is like 24 inches around.

Hey, guys, should I get the huge-ass new Legends Spider-Man? He's so big!

Ordered two of Nico. Really love Runaways but if Hasbro at any point doesn't end up making an X-23, then I'll just use Nico as a base since her sculpt actually fits with a lot of Laura's general style/aesthetic. If they do end up making her than I'll just repaint the extra Nico into one of her other outfits/looks.

we need a new "loki" Loki before we get the lady version. Every Hasbro loki has been an exclusive. Even in 4 inch, the non-movie loki's were exclusives. Id love a 60's or 90's style in 6 inch.
>>
>>5925019
Yes. The mold is fantastic. The proportions are so on point, I'm thinking it might be the best legends to date. Personally, I don't even mind the straight face. How accurate are UPC codes to check for stock? I gave the Walgreens guy the specific UPC for Deadpool, and their system showed 10 in stock. I knew that there was no way this was right. Sure enough, when he checked the back, shelf, orders in transit, and truck shipment, there weren't any ML X-Men figures.
It seems to me that the UPC is a general code for all Marvel Legends figures. So exactly how do these codes work if at all?
>>
>>5926084
This is absolutely true. I work at walmart (not in the toy department), but whenever I use the gun and input the UPC for Deadpool, it says we have 20 of him, but we don't even have the X men wave in yet. Still got only Giant Man and Absorbing man waves.
>>
>>5926104
Any idea what this alludes to? Every UPC is specific to the item so it's odd to me how the system shows its in stock when it clearly isn't.
>>
>>5926067
>ML Gwenpool WHEN
>>
>Target and Walmart finally get X-men wave in
>Everything but Deadpool on the pegs

Well balls, at least I found a Falcon though.
>>
>>5926084
At my store UPCs are bunched together so even though they all have different UPCs they'll count as the same item.

So if I have 1 case of the X-Men wave and I scan Deadpool it'll say I have 8 on hand, even though I have 1 Deadpool. They are counted together like the same item because they come in the same case. (Which should always be the case for items that come in the same box.)

On top of that separate waves could also be bunched together. Let's say you bring in a Silk Figure UPC and I scan it, it could be in my system bunched in with other Spiderman waves (Rhino/Absorbing Man) even though I haven't even seen the Space Venom wave at my store yet, it would say I have 20 on hand.

So it could be a situation where the X-Men wave is bunched in with other figures in the system.
>>
>>5926148
Makes sense, thanks for the clarification.
So that brings me to my next point: is there a better and more reliable method for checking stock in a store? Aside from obviously asking the associate if they have "character xyz" in stock.
>>
>>5926148
Also, when the UPCs are bunched together with different figures and waves, is that a store by store basis? Or is it a universal bunching of UPCs?
>>
>>5926084
Yeah, retail stores usually have their own internal item code (often called an SKU) for merchandise that different versions of come in a single case, like toys. So, they group all of those UPCs in the system as one item under the SKU.
>>
>>5926180
At the very least I would think a wave would always be bunched together since it comes in the same case.

>>5926177
There probably isn't a better way other than asking "Hey do you have this figure in the back"
>>
>>5926180
I would think it'd be by store, right now at my wal-mart the x-men wave has it's own spot on the shelf, so there's cross reference UPCs for x-men, spiderman, and everyone else legends. All three don't affect each other at all as far as counts and sales go.

I like the original Venom. He was fantastic in his original appearance. I also liked when he made a truce with Peter and became an anti-hero. Wasn't a big fan of the whole "eat brains" thing though, thought that was dumb.

I thought Eddie went through an excellent progression with the cancer, and thought he was at his best as Anti-Venom.

I just love the symbiote, and seeing Flash, Peter's bully who eventually turned into his friend, try to emulate his favorite hero while wearing one of his biggest enemies that he tries to keep in check is really compelling to me. And I love Flash and the symbiote's relationship.

Spider-man used to be my favorite. I grew up with the 90's cartoon, and the JMS run is basically my definitive Spider-man run. It got me into comics. Recent Spider-man has been really bad. I stopped buying ASM because of Slott.

Another hero I like more than Spider-man is Kaine. Scarlet Spider was an amazing comic.

I'll never understand the vitriolic hate Slott gets. I drop into reading his spider-man here and there over the years and always find it pretty enjoyable. Nothing groundbreaking, but never bad and always entertaining. It's a nice, breezy, low-impact read that never leaves me feeling too strongly one way or another. I've really enjoyed his and Allred's Silver Surfer. What's crazy to me is someone saying JMS is their definitive Spidey run, which would include the spider totem and OMD. I parachuted into his run and nope'd right out. And now I see someone putting over Yost who has written some of the most pedestrian and boring comics I've ever read. Different views for different dudes, I guess.

For me, it started with Superior. Looking back, I'll admit it's a good concept, but it still had an awful execution. I hated the idea of Peter being replaced, and it made me stop buying Spider-man. The only reason Superior even worked is because Slott wrote every single supporting cast like an idiot. Mary Jane, the Avengers, literally everyone should have figured out something was wrong immediately. He shot someone with a gun and still nobody figured it out. It's just so "crazy town banana pants!" (which is apparently something Peter always said?)
And then Peter's return proved his writing had not improved. Peter was a manchild, and then again, Spider-verse was a good concept, ruined by his treatment of the villains, killing off spider-men for shock value, and the introduction of his OC Silk (Who is much better under any other writer), and then turning Peter into the poor man's Iron Man, and making it so he always has to be saved by others. It's infuriating.

And it's weird, I don't normally care about magic stuff in comics, but I really liked the whole totem thing. It was definitely handled better the first time with Ezekiel, and got a little out there with the other, but I still enjoyed it.

And Yosts Scarlet Spider is 10/10

Honestly, I'm sorta the same with Spencer. Superior Foes was so good, I can forgive most of what he does.

And they didn't reverse it after a month, it was obviously the plan all along. I mean, the red skull has had Xavier's brain for awhile, and is known to dabble in cosmic cubes. I've actually enjoyed some of his Cap run, but I'll agree he's pushing his liberal political views in the book pretty hard, which can be a little annoying.

Whew. Nothing Slott writes will ever be as bad as as that 9/11 issue.

Morlun was pretty decent as a villain. I can't remember the last new villain that had staying power. Having him and his family be the center villains of SpiderVerse was pretty horrible though. I am surprised he hasn't gotten a figure yet.

I've always liked Yost. His X stuff was pretty great. I think him and Gage are pretty underrated.

Ditto! Managed to find the X-Men wave at TRU. Sans Deadpool of course, but Rogue was the one I wanted most. Was planning to pass on Wolvie in favor of a yellow/blue repaint down the line, but seeing him in-person I couldn't resist!

Both awesome figures, absolutely love Rogue and Wolvie looks great with her (though mine has a small dent on top of his head from the packaging, I think, ah well just adds to his charm). Looking forward to adding the upcoming Cyclops to the team.

Also got in Captain Marvel earlier this week, huge thanks to anon for the heads-up on the cheap HTS ebay prices in the last thread. She's lovely as well, I really like her costume (do she and Rogue get along nowadays?). Both Cap and Rogue had some excess paint that I was able to mostly scrub off with some alcohol; Cap on her left breast and Rogue on her crotch. Couldn't help but laugh at myself as I was sitting there rubbing their boobs and crotch, haha.

Considered picking up Iron Fist and Nico since I saw both of them, but decided to just wait since I have them both preordered on Amazon anyway.

They also had Jean Grey, Kitty Pryde, and Iceman but I passed on them, too. Would have probably gone for Wolverine if they'd still had one, though.

But anyway, this is probably the first time since I started collecting figures that any of the stores in town have had a Marvel Legends waves on time.

>>5929897
I just saw the Dr. Strange wave on Walmart, but no Abomination/Space Venom too.

I think it has something to do with Dr. Strange and Xmen are "different" brand/line of Marvel Legends. Abomination is "Captan America" Legends and Space Knight is "Spiderman" Legends. In my local Walmart, the Red Onslaught and Absorbing man fillers (whrilwind, the two girls, morbius, etc) are pegwarming super hard
>>
>>5930236
That's a valid point. The pegs for Cap Legends and Spidey Legends were still loaded with old waves. I think I even saw a Superior Spidey still hanging around.
>>
Hunting for punisher at walgreens in my area. Got excited because website showed them 10 in stock at my local one. Got there and its all old cap and spidey figs. On sale for 14.99 though which is cool. Spotted Nico but passed on her. Trying another store
>>
>>5930216
I've seen one with straight eyes. So, they do exist. Really kicking myself for not buying it
>>
>>5930251

>>
>>5930184

>>
>>5930257
Thats what i figured. Im trying one more to hopefully get lucky on strange wave discounted prices. Looks like punisher can be ordered online which is nice.
>>
>>5930251
Did you check the entire store? Might want to ask an employee there. I've gone to a Walgreens and got Punisher there with the other figures, but I found like 7 Namor in the back area near the batteries section. I had no idea they had them.
>>
>>5930145
No, if you bother the employees to check the stockroom they will ask you to leave or call security to have you escorted out.
>>
>>5930251
The exclusives are sometimes hung on the side of the end caps on pegs or something like this. Not always with the rest of the figures
>>
>>5930275
>>5930292
Thanks for the heads up guys. I will keep on the lookout. I have only checked the toys and games section. The one i just went to had 2 puns and 2 namors but they wouldnt price match with walgreens.com and would only ring up as 20$. Didnt want to make it a thing. Just left to try another.
>>
>>5930296
Was it a manager or just a punk kid? Walgreens managers wear the grey vests I think.

Just in case you didn't have one, I think you have to have a Walgreens card to get the discount in-store.

Fuck. I sold my GR awhile back and regret it now. I doubt he'll get a reissue anytime soon, but maybe something will come around since they added him to AoS. I'd gladly trade my Punisher for a Ghost Rider.

Damn anon im sorry. I would totally snag one for you if they had another. I got a punisher from the back, GR and superior venom all 15$ each. Great haul especially on the 2 i missed that are scalpy now. That and the couple xmen i bought before made for a great day.

Ordered a couple cases at my job to see if we'd get a newer wave in and just got Giant-Man and Absorbing Man wave again, marked down the rest of my Rhino wave stock though. (3 Scarlet Spiders, 2 Misty Knights, 2 White Tigers.)

Just got home loving these guys. Deadpool and sup venom are great. I like cable, his sculpt and paint apps are great weapons are a bit meh. His joints are really loose, worse than some of my old toybiz ones making it hard to do any sort of pose. May be the fact that he was sitting in the hot car all afternoon so I hope he stiffens up after some time.

I am really pleased overall and lucked out on a great haul ended up with
>Deadpool
>Cable
>Wolverine
>Rogue
>Punisher
>Sup Venom
>Ghost Rider
>last 3 i got at walgreens for 15 each

Going to space out opening the others over the week for max enjoyment.

What's next in line for release after Dr. Strange wave?

I know we have X men, Spiderman, GOTG lines coming up but which one?
>>
>>5930598
I think it's the Spiderman Wave with Black Suit Spidey and Kamala
>>
>>5930598
I assume we find out at NYCC
>>
>>5930617
Speaking of which, what are the likelyhood that Kamala's gonna be scalped as bad as MCU Scarlet Witch/ Memepool? I know /co/ is really excited for her, but she's kinda unknown among normies
>>
>>5930626
She's had one of the most consistently popular books in the last couple years. It's basically gonna be spider-gwen 2.0
>>
>>5930626
Spiderman might be worse, I didn't even know MCU Wanda was a hard find since I haven't even seen the wave in my area yet.
>>
Is there a site where you can reliably preorder Marvel Legend singles, and have good enough CS to return say crosseyed one you get?

I'm really not looking forward for Kamala-bowl
>>
>>5930670
>Amazon
probably the most reliable, but they might charge sales tax, and might get a wave a week or two after everyone else

>TRU
retail prices, free shipping at $20, sales tax, maybe a week late

>BBTS
significantly more than retail for the chase figures (25 or so), no sales tax, gotta pay for shipping

>Dorkside
at or just above retail, will sell loose figs with no baf part cheaper, may fall through

I can't really say if any of those would be good for returning QC problems. Your best bet might be to put in a couple preorders and sell off the one you don't like.

Is it really? There is usually something released around Christmas, if not a 2016 wave than at least an early release from 2017. I bet we'll see something announced at nycc.
>>
>>5932430
I still count that for 2017 rather than 2016, even if it's released in the tail end of 2016.
I love Legends but I'll admit so many being released this year is leaving me exhausted and it's really fucking up the stores around here too. I haven't even finished the Absorbing Man wave yet partially because stores around here didn't start stocking it until last month.

I also picked up an Iron Monger from the first Iron Movie for 3 bucks this morning at the flea market. I'm really digging the figure besides the dumb action feature and one leg that doesn't move at the thigh. He's tall but seems to scale better with the Iron Man 2 4 inch figures which I've got a bunch of, gonna need to bust those out sometime. Since making Thor a hammer, I'm curious if I can pull off maybe painting this guy. I'm thinking about maybe adding some silver paint or a black wash to bring out the sculpt. Either way, nice to have Jeff Bridges for my MCU villains. (2/2)
