Also, are there 3rd party cassettebots beside the KFC ones?

Looks like Mastermind Creation's Carnifex got pushed back to November. Maybe now they can work on those godawful thighs.
>>
>>5915259
Did I miss a video or something where the legs just dropped off? He seemed to deliberately pull on them to get them to detach.
>>
>>5915251
DX9 is good but I wouldn't use him for an MP Rodimus. He's more C.H.U.G than MP. As for MP Rodimus, get the new Hot Rod. He's almost perfect and comes with a plethora of cool shit. His long chest that folks complained about in photos is hardly noticeable in person. Articulation is bonkers.
>>
>>5915267
The thighs popped off every time he tried to lift the legs or bend the knee. There were also bits that connected to his thighs that were very loose and fell off when the thighs were rotated.

So yeah, Master Made Apollo is amazing. I swear these guys are the best 3P out there. Fucking HYPE for Scorponok.
>>
>>5915479
Too bad they've confined themselves to super deformed shit. Would have liked to see them take on other styles.
>>
>>5915491
I too would love to see what they can do in other styles, but there's something to be said for carving out a niche and standing out in this crowded 3P market. Surely these city bots are all leading up to a Fort Max at some point. Maybe after that they'll tackle something different.
>>
>>5915479
Could you show it's height next to some legends figures? Or anything Iron Factory?
>>

I have IF's Turret (not-Slammer) and he comes up to Omega's knee. Too lazy to snap a pic right now. :(

>>

>>

Nice masterpiece Jetfire
Which version of Optimus is that?
>>
>>5915536
Not my pic, but those are actually just Macross toys, technically not "Jetfire". As for Optimus, that's the Takara Hybrid Style G1 Convoy.

These (Whirl and Obsidian) just got listed at BBTS.

I kind of want to like them, but they're just not doing it for me.
>>
>>5915550
I have the Generations Whirl and hes a pretty good update to the G1 (which I also have) and I was hoping someone would do a good mtmte Whirl since the others are covered now and then we got...this. I understand it's MMC's take on the character or possibly Stormbringer Whirl, but it just looks like shit. Those legs and the clusterfuck of a backpack he has going on are just so off-putting.
Is mtmte Whirl impossible to do? Seems like he would be very popular based on how many people like the character.
>>
>>5915493
I'm predicting a primus and unicron

Would be super down for a super deformed devoured of worlds
>>
>>5915540
I know, that was supposed to be a joke
>>
>>5915566
Yeah, I can't help but look at this thing and wonder who it's for. It's obviously going for the comic design, but it doesn't look close to it, or even good on it's own. I'd sort of like to mess with it, but 85 is a little much for a crapshoot.

>Is mtmte Whirl impossible to do?
There was that custom someone tried to make into a mass produced addon kit. It actually looked dead on, but also fragile as hell. Someone might be able to pull off some wizard-tier engineering, but it's either going to look too bulky or be made out of toothpicks.

I'd take slightly bulky toothpicks which be a middleground if they could get it to work.
>>
I kind of dig how this MMC Whirl looks, feels like it's something out of Battletech in robot mode
>>
>>5915630

I really like the claw hands and the general look of it myself. I'll probably be nabbing this one, unless something turns out dreadfully wrong with it.

How's 3rd Ordin?
>>
>>5915672
KFC's is good so long as you avoid the first metallic version.
>>
I'm tempted to get Kultur aka Not-Tarn. But.. I'm still waiting for Jaegertron. This is gonna be the same kind of wait isn't it?
>>
>>5915729

It's MMC. Tarn and Carnifex were announced in what, 2013? And it's almost 2017.

So yeah. Better get used to waiting.
>>
>>5915720
Then I guess I'll get their SG Blaster, It also comes with 5 cassettebots
Shame there is no Scorpion cassette
>>
>>5915737

Well it will wait along with those X2 background sets I also preordered.
>>
>>5915729

>>
>>5915743
>that can't be true
>it is

Holy fuck, he was only put up a few hours ago. And it's the middle of the day. A work day.

Fucks sake, thats ridiculous.
>>
>>5915773
We all knew Tarn was popular, he's got the comic people after him, the tumblr fujos after him and then the handful of people who just think he looks cool. Not too surprising but I am annoyed they didn't fix anything beyond the hands but with as popular as he is, it doesn't matter.
>>
>>5915781
Why would people still be after him after that disappointing finale in MTMTE? That shit revelation cured my Tarn fascination.
>>
>>5915785
I hated it too but I dropped the book after that and I'm choosing to ignore it. I still like pre 50's Tarn and his design is nice so I want the figure.
>>
Is TFSource ok to preorder from? I've never dealt with them before.
>>
>>5915781

What was wrong with him besides the hands having limp-dick syndrome?
>>
>>5915790
No because they won't let you cancel your preorder unless you register your CC with them (and hackers stole CC numbers from them twice). If you wanna buy something from them, you should use Paypal only.
>>
>>5915803
I was one of the faggots that was complaining about his proportions and face being way too flat looking, like he wasn't as polished and finished out as Cynicus and Anarchus. It's all opinion though, I know.
>>
>>5915809
waitwhat. I just bought and preordered some stuff from them with a card, when was this hack?
>>
>>5915790
I've had no issues, but as >>5915809 said, you can't always cancel preorders like with BBTS. Although, I have found TFSource orders less likely to get dinged for customs fees than BBTS, but if you're in the US, that's a moot point.
>>

Dumb question here for anyone thats ever ordered some reprolabels:

Would the "Symbols for Decepticons" set fit most 3P figures? Of course none of my 3P figures have any 'con symbols by default, and I want to rectify that. But I don't need a billion sticker sets, just the 'con symbols themselves, which is why I'm looking at the "Symbols for Decepticons" set.

The specific figures I'm looking to get stickered up are:
>All of the Feral Rex figures
>Cynicus
>Commotus
>Anarchus
>Despotron
>Quakeblast
>Hexatron

Anyone know what size stickers they'd take? Would the "Symbols for Decepticons" set cover my needs, or would I need to look at something else to get the right sizes?
>>
>>5916390
If you're just going for logos you can also check out Eness and Ocean decals on ebay. They're dry transfer and look nicer than the sticker kind from ReproLabels imo ymmv. That being said, repro still does good work.
>>
>>5916390
Just FYI if you're going for accuracy, Vos and Kaon (and the rest of the DJD) in the comics have gold logos. I see so many people put purple stickers on theirs and wonder what reference they were looking at.
>>
>>5916516

Ah, really? Haven't gotten to them in the comics yet, I mostly picked up the figures because they looked cool.

But would the generic decepticon sets fit these guys, or would I need something more specialized?
>>
>>5916523
I'm still looking for suitable labels. The Repro gold logos look like they would fit size-wise, but they're chrome gold with black backgrounds and that's not what I'm going for. If I can't find any good ones I'll just make little sticker stencils and use gold paint on my guys.

For your other guys I don't see why the clear-backed Decepticon sets wouldn't work, although I'd take a look at the spots where you're going to stick the labels on, for the millimeter measurements.
>>
>>5916217

I have heard both.
>>
Hey all, fairly new to third party general here, been lurking awhile but only recently began purchasing 3p's, just some legends-class guys.

I'm interested in Generation Toy Scraper but I wondered about a couple of points... I saw there might have been some problems with him that were fixed with Mixer (things like wobbly hip ratchets and clipping/stress mark issues in places), should we expect those to be fixed by now if I bought him or are we looking at all of the run having those issues?

Also I was wondering if we had any inkling if they would re-release them in yellow, as I'd consider buying him in yellow given the opportunity. Thanks!
>>
>>5917009

Are you going to the toyshow tomorrow at Hilton Mississauga?
>>
>>5917517

It's possible you can get a first run. It's best to ask your retailer via email if they have some of the first run spare parts. IIRC some came with first run Mixer as well.

It's possible they'll do a repaint since Toyworld is doing it. No one knows yet. Their only special is a ghost scraper.

Why did Kultur sell out like Hotcakes when preorders opened but carnifex didn't?

Is Ogrelord not as popular of a character as XxXD3cepticonXxX or is it just price?
>>
>>5918714
Hasbro's teasing their own Leader Class Overlord, too.

But yeah, I think Tarn might be more popular. The fact that this is the only toy of Tarn rn probably helps too.
>>
>>5918714

Original fresh characters trump remake of jap exclusive most people have no affinity for.
>>
>>5918712
Well in this situation it looks like Hasbro and Takara are the ones driving the interest in old Headmaster stuff.
>>
>>5918714
We don't know if stores got the same number of product for each one, to be fair. So it's possible more people preordered Overlord, but MMC simply didn't offer as many Tarns to retailers.
>>
>>5918723
Well whoever builds up hype im down, those late g1 toys are my absolute faves

Predators, laser rods, monsterbots, pretenders, aquaspeeders

>>
>>5918724
Tarn is a smaller, cheaper, figure with team mates that have already been released. Overlord is fuck-huge and much more pricey with no other guys he's supposed to go with.
I am sure MMC made a fucking huge number of Tarns just based on all that alone. He's just very popular.
>>
>>5918729
>Predators, laser rods, monsterbots, pretenders, aquaspeeders

The euro inspired ones frankly are not going to see much attention or reinvention by anyone. Remember even Funpub rejected attempts to redo the Turbomasters and the Euros unlike the Japanese counterparts had no fiction to inspire any devotion like the post-season 3 Headmasters and Pretenders with Headmasters and Masterforce.
>>
>>5918723

> Let's follow the same exact trends that originally killed the line dead.
>>
>>5918737
Well with some of them im fine not getting new versions cuz i know they wouldnt include the gimmicks, light up swords and pipes is part of the whole reason the laser rods are amazing for instance, but others id be fine ditching gimicks for new updates, like Stalker or the Pretenders

>>5918750
I think the reason the line flopped was more to do with exhaustion and lack of new fiction. If euro/us got victory i think tfs would have held on better. Also today is a different climate, theres now a large audience of buyers who are looking for those old toys to be revisited.

The transformation is a shitty experience and not worth doing for the shitty alt mode.

You'll have a big head for something you won't even use.

But he looks great in robot mode, so if you're willing to drop the dosh on an action figure then yeah he's fine.
>>

>But he looks great in robot mode, so if you're willing to drop the dosh on an action figure then yeah he's fine.
I mean, that's the dilemma, right? I'd basically be buying it for something that's just a robot then, which I'd be ok with. For the price though, he'd damned well better be SRC quality.

Also, how important is the add-on set for him?
>>

I had Warden prior to the add on set and enjoyed him as a robot toy just fine. I would say he's up there pretty close to a SRC, so you probably won't be disappointed.

I ended up selling mine because money was tight, but he's pretty alright as a robot. Head mode is kinda cool, but ascetically doesn't gel well with G1 Fort Max.

It depends on what you're comparing it to. They're the best official combiners to date but they still require third party kits to look any decent.

But if you were to put a HatTak combiner next to Ordin, Gravity Builder, Quantron, etc it would look like cheap shit. It's still unfair comparing 150 dollar combiners to 300-600 dollar combiners but the visual difference is enough to keep me from getting one.

If you excuse snapping hip ratchets, spring so tight in the connectors you feel like its breaking the toy to get them off, non ratcheted front and back hip fold out, terrible head articulation for a combiner, monster limbs that just hang off and don't secure while becoming floppy over time, and the combiner kibble that doesn't do anything.

Proportion wise he's fairly strong though does a good job being imposing and generally poseable, but he's a big mess to handle when doing anything but staying combined.

Have you seen an ankle title before? It's incredible technology. I could share some pictures of my collection. There's no missing surfaces, no hollow bits, paint everywhere. Maybe it will inspire you to get that job and finally own a quality product.
>>
>>5921735
>ankle title
Is that where the toy's ankle has a title? Sorry, but just because your mom has one attached to her ankle bracelet doesn't mean that toys do.
>>
>>5921737

Did you just seriously throw out a your mom joke. So you're freely admitting you're twelve and defending your birthday present.

What an embarrassment.
>>
>>5921722
>retooling a figure doesn't mean it's a unique toy.
That's exactly what he meant, you tard. He was counting the number of non-retooled, non-reused molds per combiner. By that fucking logic Defensor and Bruticus only share 9 "unique" molds.

Is reading just not your strong suit or what?
>>
>>5921742
They have the exact same level of intelligence and wit as all of your posts combined so I don't see how they're invalid.

That one guy who has a weird way of drawing head and neck proportions, and always draws hair as if it's translucent plastic.

Also he's a war vet, I think.
>>
>>5921744

Subhuman poors aren't entitled to opinions. They are automatically invalid. Less than invalid. They occupy the same universe I exist in. Human trash.
>>
>>5921768
Then why are you posting yours here, silly anon? And why are you stating obvious facts like "I occupy the same universe I exist in"?
>>
>>5921769

Because my collection disqualifies me from subhuman status. Read the post again subhuman.
>>
>>5921776
Your collection of overpriced and illegal overgreebled garbage makes you non-subhuman?

That doesn't make any sense. It's like saying you're have six legs therefore you aren't an insect

>Overpriced

It's no more expensive than official MP products and meets or exceeds such quality.

>Overgreebled

There you go disqualifying your own opinion again. Get out of that habit. The third party market is huge and has everything from blocky and plain G1 stylings to the complex IDW looks and everything in between.

>Illegal

Thank god for that. I like options and third party companies will do so many more designs that HasTak will never do, or if they do, it will be a shitty deluxe figure more hollow than your gaping asshole.

See, adult collector non subhumans such as myself appreciate competition and the utility of the free market so when Takara drops the ball on something we have alternatives rather than lapping up whatever HasTak lays into your greedy little mouth.

But you have no understanding of the issue. It doesn't matter how trash it is, or how hollow or light it feels, or how little paint is on it, your suck that fresh turd right from their asshole.

That is why you are subhuman. It's not like you don't have options, it's that you refuse to take advantage of the market in front of you.

You're like a poor white trash abuse victim. You clutch onto your shitty combiner with all your might trying to make it not look like hot garbage with every bit of floor polish and PE upgrades you can find, but it's all in vain. HasTak laid another turd and you just have to eat it up.

I have choices, I have options, I am loyal to no one. You're just a slave. A poor, subhuman slave. Now get on your knees, open wide, and do the only thing your good for. I'll get the Hasbro logo tattoo'd on my dick so you'll feel right at home.

>>
>>5922357
BBTS put him up last night, got my preorder in then. It's crazy, this will be the third run of the regular issue color (not even counting the con special color), I can't remember any other single 3rd party release needing 3 runs because it kept selling out?
>>
>>5922388
I'm curious if he's really that popular or if the production runs were relatively small.
>>
>>5922388
>bought a used one months ago for new price

Well fuck. I hope they re-run Spartan at least. I want to pick one up.
>>
>>5922416
Thats a good question, is there any way to find out what the numbers were?
>>
>>5922428
I know people used to try to preorder 9000 items on BBTS and then the system would refuse and then show the max allowed, giving you an idea. Not sure if that reliable. Plus, it's only one store.

Either way, I doubt MMC is going to mention it, unless they do sometime like sell a million of them and have a little celebration.

I'm kinda curious in general to know the sales and production sizes of third party toys. We only ever really know about the limited-run ones where the run size is mentioned. And even with those, some sell out fast, others move slowly.

The only time I've ever heard anything relating to 3P production numbers was a youtuber talking to a guy who worked in the toy making business that dealt with 3P stuff, stating that a lot of companies produce around 1000 units per run and most things get one run.

I own Despotron. My own thoughts on him are, lets see....

>His knee ratchets, the first 3 on both knees, are grinded a bit? Not sure if this will be an issue later on or not
>Right thigh swivel is super tight. It's loosened a bit with some working but still a lot tighter than the left
>Looks fucking gorgeous, or so I think. Love the proportions
>Joints are overall fairly tight on mine
>Kind of have to watch your hand when you pose him, I wouldn't want to put too much pressure on his skirt flaps, which, coupled with mine's really tight thigh swivel, makes it really hard to turn that one thigh
>I feel like his side ratchets for the legs could be a bit beefier, the forward/back ones feel super solid, but the side could've been as solid for me
>>
>>5922438
1000 seems reasonable, which also makes a lot of the so-called "limited run" stuff a bit funny given that they announce them as "only" having 500 to 1500 made.
>>
>>5922462

It sounds reasonable if you take it as a whole. Then you realize a bunch are shipped off to fuck who knows where in Dingleberry, China, and anything popular becomes very hard to find, very fast.
>>
>>5922357
>>5922388
>$10 less than the con repaint
I mean, I understand why, but I'd just spring for the one in stock now.
>>
>>5922041
I'm pretty sure the 400 dollar part is what did it.
>>
>>5921798

When they do, it'd better also be a powermaster armor. Can you imagine what that shit would be like?

Also, armor set for Megatron that beefs him up similarly, and gives him a tank altmode.
>>
>>5922433
Not the other anon but I tried that way back when he first came out and it would show the max as 250, no idea if thats accurate though or just something BBTS does.
>>
>>5922533
Yeah, 250 might just be a hard limit per customer. People were using that technique more so in order to see how close something was to selling out (which would mean it was sub-250) more than to test to see how much BBTS had in total.
>>
>>5922539
BBTS put that limit in a couple of years ago.

I suspect it was because so many people started using them as placeholder preorders and sticking them with alot of unsaleable stock.
>>
>>5922462
As the price climbs linearly, demand seems to fall exponentially. You're talking a fandom that couldn't handle $12 deluxes. What do you think the market is for a $100+ 3rd party toy?
>>
>>5922610
I'm not sure how much overlap there is, but I feel like a lot of the people complaining about prices of official stuff are also the people paying out the ass for third party stuff.

But, all the same, I also think 99% of the people complaining about prices still buy it all anyway.

What combiners do the best job integrating gestalt parts into the component robots? Is there anything like G1 Liokaiser where the hands and feet are built in?

What about ones with torso bots that have the combiner head/chestplate built in?
>>
>>5922700
Speaking of Liokaiser, TFC's version of him does a pretty good job, with the only parts not fully integrated being the fists. The set comes with two pairs. One do not store, and the others can convert to guns that are storable.
>>
>>5922700

There's usually some effort involved to hang or integrate parts into most modes. Most are a mixed bag. MMC's Razerclaw made a valiant attempt at keeping the crotch armor bits attached throughout all modes even if its finicky as fuck to get to combined mode. Usually you still need to partsform them on even if they store or hide somewhere. The only completely integrated gestalt is Hulkie. Fists still sort of hung off the back of the bots but not-hook's crane split in half and folded over to become the devastator chest shield.

UT's combiners and TFC typically don't give a shit about storage or integration and just throw you a lump of parts.
>>
>>5922795
>TFC typically don't give a shit about storage

My only experience with them is Hercules and Hades and both store their parts really well. But I don't know about their other combiners.
