Is an Oden Stall the same as a Street Food stand?

This is an older project of mine. There was a kit made in Japan like this, but the scale was too small, so I copied a lot of the design and scratchbuilt this to fit October Toys and Revoltech skeleton.

Also posted in Dollhouse/Diorama:

Skeletons continue their shopping spree. The Patisserie is a kit by Pakitoy (China). It came out late 2013/2014 and seems to be getting hard to find. Scale is a perfect 3/4" to 1 ft (1:15), so the October Toys skeletons look absolutely correct in them. From the outside, they look pretty-much like 1:18.

All customs. The coins are made from polymer clay. I made a stamper with plastic and took the impression from some fancy buttons. Then roll the polymer clay into a salami shape, cut slices and stamp them with the design. Paint with gold craft paint. That's how I was able to make 380 coins and almost no cost.

Treasure chest is made from wood and popsicle sticks. The hinges were the hardest thing to make- all from sheet brass.
>>
>>5866685
That's pretty cool. You should make a little step-by-step photo tutorial. I understand "roll polymer clay" but it would be cool to see how to make the stamper, the type of buttons you used, etc.

Okay... the supplies look like this. Metallic paints, paint wash (to make the silver one look antique) and fancy buttons with designs engraved into them. The buttons are like 10 cents each in a huge bin. It's just a case of picking the design you like for the coins.

I made the stamper from moldable plastic. but a harder clay like FIMO should work. The stamper should be a harder material than the coins. Sculpey is a softer polymer clay is is better for the coins. It helps to rub the stamper with a rag and some oil to prevent sticking.

Once you stamp the coins, paint them before you bake the clay.

As you can see, the result is more realistic than what toy companies are making. And, you can make hundreds of these, while toy/gacha companies are not selling coins by the hundreds. LOL.

I needed a bunch of these for a pirate diorama, but they also looked good with skeletons.

Went to the mall yesterday- looks like "Crazy Bonez" animal skeletons are now being stocked on store shelves for halloween.

From their website:
"Expand your Crazy Bonez family with the addition of our "NEW for 2016" Crazy Bonez Animals! Bruiser Bonez, Spike the Dog, a Skeleton Owl, Parrot, Fish, Lizard, Frog, Gecko, Bat and more. A Boar Skull, Ram and Gazelle Skull have also joined our line of Crazy Bonez. We also have added a few wall hangings to compliment your collection."

Even though these skels are meant to be "lifesized" (1:1) it turns out that the smaller ones (like the rat, gecko, frog, spider) are perfectly-sized mounts for skeleton action figures!

This was last year's project, using a Crazy Bonez rat skel:
>>

Also, where are you?
>>
>>5876774
That's fucking rad. I've seen most of this line at Big Lots, but it never dawned on me to do this, perhaps because the smallest critter they had was a mini bulldog.

>>5877494
They're 5" tall, but they're claimed to be 1:18 scale, as they're based on Skeleton Warriors. Run you about $12 from October Toys.

Had to be custom-made. I checked out books on saddle construction from the library to learn how saddles were made. Made a wood frame, covered with leather. A rat skeleton is different from a horse skeleton, so the saddle had to be proportioned and set differently.

>>5877494
Rat skeleton was $5.99 and the scale is 1:1. It just happened to fit some of my toy skeletons perfectly as a mount. The human skel is 4.75" tall. It cost $10 from October Toys, but the price seems to have gone up to $12 this year.

>>5877529
Crazy Bonez is also avail at Spirit Halloween store and Target. I just happened to find mine at a toy/party supply store.

Oct Toys says that their skels are 1:18 because they were meant to be "Titans", huge 7' 2" dudes in their world. They even showed stills from the cartoon to show this. The Titan skels shared a lot of parts with their flagship figure, Baron Dark, which helped get them all funded. And, people can and would buy the Titan skels in multiples and in differert colors, so the repeat business helps keep them afloat.
>>
I remember Skeleton Warriors, but outside of Shreik for nostalgia reasons I was never gonna be up for a reboot line, even if they had been 4".

Kaiyodo, Boss Fight and Re-Ment hit what I wanted from skeleton figures, though I wish October Toys the best of luck getting the line moving forward.
>>
>>5878724
Well, to be honest, I'm afraid that the proposed reboot of Skeleton Warriors looks like it's pretty much stalled and dead in the water. The original intention was to reboot the entire line, with the human characters, more skeleton characters, and perhaps, a bone dragon skeleton. The plans were ambitious.

From what I understand, Oct Toys just barely got the first wave (Baron Dark/Titan skeletons) funded, and it was with the help of Onell Design (the Glyos people). Baron Dark and Titan skels really did get manufactured.

However, last year, they attempted to get funding to make Grimskull, a half human/half skel hero from the cartoon. The funding fell short, and it didn't happen. They said that the project would be modified and they'd try again later.

Paradoxically, Oct Toys announced the closing of their own forum, and allowed their own fanbase to scatter to the winds. WTF? Those are the very same people they'd need to spread the word and provide funding for any future projects!

For about a year now, we have seen occasional variations of the Titans made available and they do sell out. In fact, their back stock of Baron Dark just sold out- good for them... money is more important than stock getting dusty in warehouses.

At this point, it really looks like Oct Toys is not going to spend any more time/money on new Skeleton Warriors stuff. However, since the molds for the Titan skels were already made, they can continue to milk their original investment and pop out new colors.

I'm really not complaining. I don't have much investment in the cartoon series or the characters, but I truly LOVE their Titan skeleton action figures. I never planned to replicate the cartoon world of Skeleton Warriors- I wanted to use their skels for other projects and go off in my own direction. All of my photo drops you see on this board are my various projects involving Titan skeletons in a new world.

Every skeleton looks better with a paint wash. It's kinda amazing what a few drops of wash can do. IMHO, Boss Fight probably should have paint-washed their skellys when they raised the price. Really. A wash would make them look like they're worth $15.

1) Buy a wash, like Testor's Create-FX acrylic.

2) Apply to the skeleton using a small paintbrush

3) Wait 5 mins.

4) Use a soft cloth and rub the wash off. The wash will stay in the crevices, enhancing the details.

5) Apply a matte acrylic clear coat. If you only have a spray, then spray it on a piece of card and then paint on the clearcoat with a brush. Avoid the joints.

Another view of horse, err, rat tack.

Saddle stand was a real quickie project. After making a saddle, it made sense as to why saddle stands exist in real life. They can't just dump the saddle on the ground or lean it against a wall... the wooden supports underneath the leather would break, and they wouldn't want to ruin their nice fenders.

>>5887116
I think Crazy Bonez puts ears on their animal skels so people can recognize what they are. It's not totally accurate obviously, as ears are usually made of cartilage and soft tissue, not bone.

I suppose that a purist can saw off the ears and Dremel off the nubs for greater accuracy, but for a $6 skel, they're pretty good.

You DO NOT want to see the Crazy Bonez version of a spider... instead of an exoskeleton like real life, they made a "spider skeleton" as if a spider had internal bones, lol!

You mean the Chap Mei/Soldier Force/True Heroes Hummer? I think the Jeep is a better toy. The hummer's driver side door doesn't open and the passenger door doesn't exist. The jeep looks better and has more customizing potential.

Got 2 jeeps.

Extra bonus is that the Chap Mei accessories (guns, grenades, shovel, etc) are a little oversized for 1:18, but fits in the hands of the October Toys skeletons beautifully!

Can someone point me in the way of a cheap, less than 6in spooky skeleton? I would love to have some in my life for fall and in time for the Halloween season.
>>
>>5900345
Sure, but you need to be more specific.

What's cheap? Less then $10? Less then $1 each?

How much less than 6 inches? Were you looking at 2 inches? 3 inches? 4 inches? 5 inches? Or it doesn't matter?

Were you thinking of buying at a store, or mail-order, or ebay?

And... finally... were you expecting any articulation, or is a stiff one, or a soft plastic one OK?

Cheap is I'd be happy if 40$ or less.

Anything under 6 but I'm a big 3in fan.
Mail order from amazon or any website.
I was not aware of any physical skeleton stores existing.

I'm fine with stiff but articulating skeletons would have me filled to the brim with glee.

Thank you for the response.

Every one of the skeletons listed in post (5901514) are good ones. You really can't go wrong with any of them, in fact, since you got $40 to spend, order one of each if you can (might need to kick in $10 more to cover postage)!

Looks to me that the Rement Pose skels went up a little bit- less than 2 months ago, they were almost $3 cheaper, but I hear that the Dollar is getting its ass kicked by Yen right now.

Come back with any skelly questions- we'll be happy to give you free advice.
>>
Hah hah hah! The Dollar Tree is now stocking their infamous skeleton garlands! ONE DOLLAR to get 4 of these. Yeah, they kinda suck, and their paint jobs are atrocious, but at a QUARTER apiece for 6" skeletons, why the heck not?

Appears on their website to buy in bulk, but at the actual store, a one dollar bill can get ya this:

And, speaking of the Dollar Tree, the cheap-ass flat skeleton is making a re-appearance. It comes packed in a bag of worms and bugs- probably about 20 items in the bag for $1.00, so it comes to 5 cents each.

The Dollar Tree ones have a lot of plastic flash around them, but for 5 cents, can't expect the world...

>>Do you have a big lots near you?

Yeah, I do. They carry "Power Team Elite" figures and playsets. The figures are well artic, but ugly as sin and the rifles are pathetic, tiny and wimpy, but their vehicles are great! Just reminded me that I have the PTE Willys Jeep in my closet. Truly a beautiful piece with a trailer and all kinds of accessories. And it's true 1:18. The whole thing cost like $15.

That said, I am really fond of the Chap Mei/True Heroes/Soldier Force/ US Marines jeep. It's off-scale, larger than 1:18, but I have a real love for 1:15, so Chap Mei fits the bill. This one was customized. I liked what they were doing with the tent and blanket rolls, so I trimmed off the plastic ones and replaced them with cloth. It's now a mixture of soft goods and original plastic goods.

It's based on the WWII SAS jeeps, where the SAS loaded the jeeps with stuff because they were driving around in the desert.

Skeleton is a vintage (1975 or 1976) jiggler.

>>

Check out this lady's blog:

https://jennifernicholewells.com/2015/11/09/mmm-pose-skeleton/

She has a pic from "kuruminoisu" with some fantastic tailored clothing, but I suspect those are hand-made.

Helmets... that could be a challenge. See, the Pose skellys are not strictly 1:18 scale. Their skulls are considerably larger than a proper 1:18, but definitely not 1:12.

Playmobil helmets might work. I noticed that individual Playmobil figure blind bags are sold at Walgreens.
>>
>>5903911

http://www.yojoe.com/action/12/duke46.shtml

I and another anon have gotten these helmets to fit. I found the gi joe weapons work well, but not all the headgear will fit.
>>
>>5903911
I've gotten Dragon's 1:18 scale helmets to work. I imagine vintage Joe helmets would be the best fit, they tend to be extra large. Just checked my Playmobil viking against my skelly, PM will definitely NOT be compatible.

1:18 web gear and the torso portions of removable coats tend to work with varying degrees of success.

I go with Small Packet, no tracking. Order went through and arrived, no problem. This was early July- I bought a 5 pack of Dokuroman, Epoch robots, folding chairs, mini Gacha machine, sword keychain. 45 bucks worth of stuff, small packet from Japan to US was $7.00.
>>
>>5911513
Whoa- just saw it- the pumpkin heads are meant to fit *over* the skulls while the skulls are attached to the body. I originally thought they were alternate head replacements.

Kaiyodo really has a good plan- keep leveraging the Dokuroman skeleton molds for new themes.

Maybe this means that "DEVGRU" and the weapons have been phased out?
>>
>>5911777
Yeah, I was working on the theory that the heads were interchangeable. The way they've used is definitely preferable, though.

I used to collect gashapon years back, and once they sold through that was it. Kaiyodo said they were gonna do more, but that was before they introduced these Pumpkin Nightmare ones, so maybe these are what they meant by "more".

I'm excited to see what they tackle next.

>>
>>5912273
No, don't be worried. Give them a day and a half. They'll send you an automated mail that confirms that they got your order and they're calculating the shipping. Then, they send one or 2 mails afterwards, sometimes hours later with the shipping charge. If you agree to it, then you can place your order and PayPal it over to them. Then you get a final order confirmation.

Note: EMS is damn expensive.

Looks like you can modify your order if you have a Rakuten member id. But if you chose "guest checkout", looks like you don't have access to the order to change it. You could write to them by clicking "contact store" and ask if you can change your shipping option. Assume that they don't speak or write in English and they will be using a translator.

Or else, you could place a new order and let the old one expire (it will expire in a week if you did not accept their offer in the email)

>>
>>5914967
That's a 4H skeleton, right? Reason why I didn't spring for one myself is that I don't actually collect 6". They're a bit too large for my world-building, and I hear the armor is non-removeable.

So, what do you think of the 4H ones, compared to the other skellys that we discuss here?

Oh, just adding- if you wanted to toss some cheap skellys at kids for Halloween, Oriental Trading Company has a deal on 5" bendy skeletons. $6.99 for a dozen. Also saw them in a local toy/party store for 79 cents each.

I think you definately get your money's worth from the 4H skeletons despite their armor-based bodies. The system of interchangeable parts gives you tremendous options too, as long as your wallet can handle tons of $35 figures. I've only bought 2 so far, but I really enjoy them and I'd love to see the company try a bare skeleton in this scale.

Hmm, maybe... I was more interested in something like the pose skeletons because of their high quality for a low cost. I know I would really appreciate something like that if I was a kid.

So much skeleton stuff on the shelves everywhere and nobody has engineered figures as articulate and poseable as the Japanese have? I guess that's what happens when most people think toys = purely kid stuff.

Yes, I agree, It's the logical thing for 4H to do- I can't fathom why they haven't done it yet. They already have lotsa skelly parts. And they're swimming in money (over $400,000 in KS funds). Right now the field is wide open- Cryptid had plans but cancelled their KS and not a peep about anything from them for the last 6 months. Nobody is doing a 6" plain skelly.

Just a comment that cheap Chinese no-name companies are *capable* of producing a mass-market 6" skeleton. They already make a 5.75" "skeleton garland" that sells at 25 cents each. They make dollar store action figures with kinda OK articulation (no Revol joints). All they have to do is combine the two concepts and produce something that can be sold for $2 or $3 each, and they'd have a hit.

>>5915889
>>You can always pretend that the 6" skellies are giants among your pose skellies, like David an Goliath, just saying....

Hah hah! Well, I already got that going with October Toys skellys, playing along with Dokuroman and Pose skellys. They look like parent (OctT) and kid (Pose). The diff between 1:15 and 1:18 is not that drastic. The diff between 1:12 and 1:18 just too much and looks bad together.

WTF is this? For $15 to get a Pose skelly and dog, you can get them new on Amazon.com for the same price. Why would anyone buy this?

Bootleg figs only make sense if you're talking about Figma or Kaiyodo (not Dokuroman) or Figuarts. Or even LEGO if you happen to be in Hong Kong or something.

Thing about bootleg toy stuff is that it has no resale value. The genuine Japanese stuff can be resold in a few years and you can mostly get your money back if it's out of production.

Speaking of Mr. Bones (not the bootleg Pose skelly), is anyone else old enough to remember these? Candy skeleton pieces, like sweet-tarts, that came in a plastic coffin?

I remember buying those up like crazy. They were like 20 cents around 1978/1979.

A while back I picked up two 3.75in skeletons from the Vitruvian hacks site, and I am a bit let down. They have actual joints so they aren't constantly falling apart, but hey don't seem as enthusiastic about being skeletons. Also their legs always look bent up and the double jointed knees cause a lot of posing issues.
>>
>>5917934
I'm glad I only got one transparent one, at least it's good for pics like >>5910615

Don't know how they managed to fuck up on the articulation with the skellies, because their regular body blanks are excellent.
>>
>>5917934
Where did that cool Mola Ram helmet come from? I really like it!

You know, the question about "double-jointed knees or not"... on the good side, the double-jointed knees on BFS allow for deep knee bends, about 40 degrees. But, it sacrifices the knee rotation, so the skelly can't cross its legs.

I just checked Dokuroman (60 degrees), Pose Skelly (90 degrees) and Oct Toys (95 degrees). Those are single-jointed. So the choice boils down to whether knee rotation is more important than deep knee bends.

In my personal collection, only the Kaiyodo "Jason and the Argonauts" Revoltech skelly is capable of 40 degree knee bends *and* has a rotational joint. I would suppose that it's simply easier to do that in a larger scale.

Agree that Kaiyodo skellys (Dokuroman and Revoltech) have extremely expressive skulls. They look like they enjoy whatever it is they're doing (killing the humans?)

Helmet and sash come from the Hasbro Indiana Jones Mola Ram figure. He also comes with a flaming heart. Fairly pricey on the secondary these days.

I too have both the Dokuroman and the BFS skeletons, and I think after all the fucking waiting that the Dokuroman just stole the "holy shit, articulated 1:18 skeleton!" thunder. They each have their pros and cons, but at the end of the day the Dokuroman just felt like the better deal.

Well, that's very, very interesting! Thanks for the heads-up!

It just looks extremely odd/suspicious that so many Indy 26 piece lots are showing up and shipping from... China/Hong Kong!

I seriously doubt that some toy collector is cracking open hundreds of 2008-era Indy figures and picking out accessories to sell separately. Doesn't make sense. Looks to me like the Indy accessories are being *copied* (bootlegged) now by a Chinese factory.

What do ya think?

I have zero doubt they're bootlegged. Most likely using Hasbro's own molds, in the factory Hasbro contracted to make them in the frst place.

Yeah. Just search ebay for "Indiana Jones Accessories" under the Toys & Hobbies category. Then click "see other items" underneath the seller name.

I saw a bunch of Halo and GiJoe weaponry. And a whole bunch of "loose" Indy figures w/ accessories for reasonable prices. Definitely looks like the factory in China dug out the old Hasbro molds out of the mothballs and they're starting up unauthorized production again. Unless Hasbro sends them a C&D, they'll still crank out more. They can always say they didn't know what the molds were, lol.

Wow, this is really eye-opening how easily Chinese factories can flood the market with new stock of old discontinued figures and sets.

Oh man, that stuff is good! My local library has it as an e-book, so I've been checking it out. Like the art style on "Bag o' Bones"- reminds me a lot of EC's Will Elder on the Civil War stories. Good writing, great characters and some wonderful twist endings. Also like the retro coloring style, not anything like "Look! computer generated coloring!" that's too common in modern comics.

Definitely a good way to spend my spare time!
>>
>>5922457
Beautiful skeleton- presuming that it comes with some or all of its accessories, you won't regret your purchase. Ignore the idiot that reviewed it on Amazon in ALL CAPS. Dude has a few screws loose.

Kaiyodo has a few more recent skeletons, but I don't like them as much. One has some ugly horned/fanged skulls and an awful color. The other has a more bone-like color, but the skull looks like it's bucktoothed, and looks pitiful (as in "I'm sad" *sniff* pitiful)
>>
Just punched off payment for a set of Pumpkin Nightmare skellies, though I kinda wish they had packed at least one gripping hand with these.
>>
What are some good skellies that have decent articulation, that I can mass for cheap? (And can hold weapons or wear helmets, like GI joe scale?) Want to get a bunch of them for Halloween.

And I'm talking about stuff that I can actually play with. I enjoy having figures on my work desk to fiddle with, since working on IT help desk gets boring.
>>
>>5924472

ReMent's Pose Skeletons definitely nail most of your requirements. Their proportions are odd, so getting a helmet that fits will takes some trial and error. Their hands aren't really designed for firearms, but you shouldn't have trouble finding one that will work.

Boss Fight Studio's skeletons will be much easier to accessorize, and they definitely have the articulation covered, but they're running $15 a pop.

The Dokuroman ones are also well articulated (all ball joints), and are pretty cheap even imported from Japan. Accessories are gonna be a no-go unless you can get a set of the gripping hands that were released separately. They're also a bit prone to falling apart. Nothing a little Future floor wax won't fix, but it's something to note.

Agree on most of these points. I should mention that, depending on the context, the Pose skeleton can look un-intimidating.

Especially when it's posed with the official Rement accessories. Instead of hearing "That's so badass!" from co-workers, you'll hear, "Oh, soooo CUUUUUUTE!"

Don't forget October Toys skeletons. They're not exactly 1:18, but if you get Chap Mei (Soldier Force/True Heroes/US Marines) oversized accessories, the shotguns and HK MP5 look scary in the hands of an Oct Toys skelly like this:

He has two right weapon holding hands (three if you count the base) and ZERO left weapon holding hands.

>>
>>5926326
On the bright side I love him besides his inability to dual wield swords or hole a spear. But I only paid $49.99 rather than the upwards of $100 people charge for it, so I guess I got what I paid for

Fuck I want more of these. This is my first Skeleton down what I can feel is going to be slippery slope.
He feels so delicate. I know revoltech joints can be replaced and are pretty sturdy to begin with, but are there other skeletons around this scale that feel more sturdy? Or in any scale in general?
>>
>>5926326
Sorry to hear that- that's too bad. But it did come with ONE left hand, right? The open hand/spellcasting one? Did you get 2 swords, 2 shields and a spear?

>>5926355
Yah, buying modern skeletons can become addicting. Right now, the only true 6" skeleton is the 4 Horsemen Mythic Legions one. Good luck finding one- they sold out (of course) and they're pricey on ebay, and they're stuck inside their armor.

Kaiyodo has 2 other skeletons on the market in the $50 range. They're not as attractive as the Jason and the Argonauts one IMHO.

If you wanted a truly sturdy articulated skeleton, it's October Toys. They're not exactly anatomically accurate, but they're reasonably skeleton-ish enough so there's no mistake about what they are. They're made of a somewhat softer PVC, and their joints are bulletproof. They're a bit over $15.00 incl postage. They need a paint wash, and they look much better with weaponry and clothing. A solid choice.
>>
>>5926585
Yeah, he's atleast got a left relaxed and a left spellcasting hand. To my knowledge I got all the accessories, 2 swords, 2 shields, 1 spear, a base, the orange box, name tag.

I'll definitely look into the October toys skeleton, thanks. What do you think of the boss fight Vitruvian H.A.C.K.S. Skeleton Warrior?
>>
>>5926602
they're good but lwcking in articulation. Expect it to look bowlegged in almost anything beyond standing straight pose. Otherwise impressive for their size and detail
>>
>>5926602
I think they're magnificent in a small scale. A lot of thought went into engineering those joints for a skeleton that small.

However, gotta be realistic- the current price of $14.99 is too high for it. Especially because it's unpainted and has zero included accessories. It comes in a bag with a header card, and I can imagine people thinking, "WTF? I paid 15 bucks for this? Looks cheap!". Especially because Boss Fight Studio's main Greek mythology line has *proper* figures with paint apps, armor, weapons, extra hands, full color backing card/packaging... the works for $7 more.

But, once the BFS skelly is out of the package and given a proper paint wash, and given enough time to play with it, one's initial disappointment becomes satisfaction.

They're almost as articulated as the Rement Pose Skeletons except with double-joints in the knees instead of a ball-joint, so I'm not sure where the complaints about articulation are coming from. Some of the joints are very delicate though, and the figures tend to come with some flash that needs to be trimmed to free up some of them.

The thing about them being bow-legged is true but easy to fix with a hairdryer and glass of cold water. They're also probably the most detailed and anatomically accurate option (apart from the clavicles which didn't make it to production perfectly, but it's only noticeable because the rest of the figure is so spot-on).

The heads aren't compatible with the other Vitruvian bodies, though, which is a little annoying and the basic versions don't come with any paintwork so you need to wash them yourself.

Hey! My set of Halloween Dokuroman arrived today! I placed my order on Sept 14, got confirmation of my Paypal payment on Sept 15, and the box arrived on Sept 22! From Japan to the West Coast in 7 days. I went for small airmail packet, no tracking. Cost was $7.00.

So here's one of the Halloween Dokuroman. You get A LOT of pieces. I counted 32 pieces, including the Halloween stuff (tree, cat, pumpkin head) and the improved base. Dokuroman includes TWO sets of hands. The clenched fist and the open spellcasting hands. You get a lot for the money, and it's an even better deal than the original DEVGRU Dokuroman.

And, here's the part you've all been dying to know... yes, Kaiyodo had re-done the problematic joints. The neck bone and the lower spine was already connected to the back ribcage part inside the bag. There is a difference between the original (Mar 2016) ribcage piece and the current (Sept 2016) piece. It's only a matter of microns, but the ball joints fit deeper into the sockets. Notice the new slot, too. So this time, Dokuroman doesn't need the Pledge Floor Finish. They don't pop out, and they feel nicely stiff. But... you still need to mop the kitchen floors anyway, right?

how's the plastic? devgru skellis feels somewhat fragile, hopefully the new ones are sturdier
>>
>>5926891
Same plastic, I think, but differences in the finish. DEVGRU Dokuroman was mostly cast in a dk grey plastic, and all of it was covered in a lt grey, very matte paint. The paint in the joints would eventually rub off, so the dk grey on the balljoint would come through.

Halloween Dokuroman is cast in a lt grey plastic, and there is a darker wash only in the crevices. So, most of the time, you're touching the plastic itself, not the paint coating.

So just got one basic rement skelly via recommendation from you guys, and he severely misses a bicep swivel.

Do the later version of rement skellies have improved articulation or not?
>>
>>5930663
No, if you have Pose Skeleton #1 or #3, that's all the articulation you get. It is missing the bicep swivel, but the shoulder swivel is interesting in the way that it can be moved around to allow about 90 degrees of bicep swivel. Not 360 degrees like a full swivel, but 90 is decent enough.

Pose skeleton has 24 POA, while BFS V-hacks has 28. The 4 extra points are: 360 elbow swivel, and wrist hinge joint.

Handmade wooden treasure chests don't cost me anything to make, but they take time to do. I'm not looking forwards to crafting the brass latch for the front... means crafting in sheet metal and it's murder on my fingers.

Pirate Bar is known as "Captain's Bar" on ebay and ali express:

P.S. Not a kid's project.

I'm gonna stop buy a Spirit store sometime this week and see if they have something more tempting. If not, Operation Gecko (that's what it was, not an iguana) Rider is a go.

Anyone tried the Calico Critters playsets Epoch does with the Pose Skellies? I saw someone on Instagram use the furniture, so I know it works, but I'm not sure if the actual structures will work out.

I want to do a Victorian era-inspired study with lots of 1:18 bric-a-brac, but I'm having a bear of a time with the actual structure.
>>
>>5931320
????

Hmmm, you can just search ebay for "Captain's Bar" under "Dolls and bears" category and see if another seller will ship to you.

http://www.ebay.com/sch/Dollhouse-Miniatures/1202/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=captain%27s+bar

BTW, in my version of the kit, I raised the height of the building by 7/8". Originally looked a little claustrophobic, so I thought a higher ceiling would look better. Also meant making all the furniture taller, but I think it all looks better that way.

>>5931370
Someone on the Dollhouse/Diorama thread suggested Fisher Price Grand Mansion. Might work as a Victorian.

I dunno, Spirit is a little overpriced, if you ask me. Last year, the Rat Skeleton was $12.99! And Target had the same one for $6.00. I got my Rat at a toy/party store for $4.99, but the price went up to $5.99 this year.

Skeleton armies should not walk! They need either jeeps, or quadraped skeletons of other creatures to ride!

I saw it at Wally's for $4.99, so I may just go there, though god knows I have Jeeps enough for a squad of skeletons.

Am I the only one oldfag enough to remember pic related? I guess when the inevitable GitD Boss Fight skelly comes along I'll be recreating him.

They will scale well, just that the base of the seats are quite wide due to how their figures work.

>Calico Critters playsets
The playsets are closer to 1/20 but work relatively fine with 1/18 stuff
>>
>>5931402
Mass-market cheapie Halloween animal skeletons- what do you expect? They have ears so people can recognize what they are, but for purists, it's nothing a Dremel and some sandpaper won't take care of.

>>5930756
Cool idea. I was thinking about that, but I don't have a bag of Revoltech joints to test it out. If you do manage to put working joints on the Rat skelly, be sure to post it!
>>

They're quickly selling out on Rakuten too, kind of wish I bought [B] to go with my orders of [A] and [D] skellies.

Look great, are generously articulated, yet don't feel like they're worth $15. That's just my feelings on them. Lots of others are happy with them.

Some commentary about the Boss Fight Studio Vitruvian Hacks skeletons in the posts below... we don't really want to repeat ourselves, so check out these posts.

Just a side note that the BFS armor sets are unpainted. You could also wait until BFS has a scratch n' dent sale... they sell 5 skellys for $14.99, but there's a few defects. Reports are generally positive in being able to assemble a few complete ones out of the slightly defective ones.

That's really nice work on the toy house... looks incredibly realistic with all the battle damage. It barely looks like the same house.

Are you one of the guys on The Fighting 118th? They have some amazing war diorama work for 1:18 scale figures and buildings there.

Speaking of Schleich... anyone in the market for a Schleich skeleton? Amazon reviewer indicates 5 points of articulation!

The Papo one is also nothing to write home about. Local hobby shop had one (missing the spear) for $6.99. No POA. Meh.

We're just so spoiled by a plethora of better skeletons on the market these days.

Hey guys, this skelly seems to have scoliosis, the ball connecting the bottom spine to the ribcage will NOT lock in anyway except crooked. Would soaking him in hot water or warming him up with a hairdryer to remold it to fit work?
