Monthly Building Challenge:
Your challenge this month is to design a Microfighter for a vehicle that doesn't have one yet. It can be of any property, as long as it has 100 or less pieces, seats 1 minifig, and is cute and chibi. Get swooshing!

Don't forget this poll for other building challenges! Vote like your life depends on it! http://www.strawpoll.me/10892154

Also other challenges that seem to be hot on the polls:

1. Build a giant Lego piece out of other pieces
2. Make a /pol/ moc inspired by whatever atrocities August brings
3. Make a car or animal or a car modeled after an animal.

I probably would have just set that the challenge for this month. It's the challenge that's got the most votes, and wasn't a joke suggestion.

If you're not home, but have a side gate/I can get into your backyard, or you have a box/table/pot plant/something I can hid your parcel in, then I'll hid your parcel somewhere and leave a note telling you where it is.

People like OP get some sort of weird rush out of creating a General thread so they freak out and try to ruin any thread created by someone else. Used to happen to the Toku General(maybe it still does, I got sick of it and left). Worse now in these LEGO Generals(sorry, "Lego Generals").

That big Janitor recruitment a while back ruined this board. Gave authority to the cronies of little sleazy shits like OP so they can whine and push people around.

First post on /toy/...
When I was a child, I loved Legos, particularly the Star Wars theme. I always wanted a Millenium Falcon set but I never had the money. Now as an adult, I see this new iteration and I'm really tempted to buy it and fulfill a childhood wish. But I realize this particular set has been around for about a year now.
Does that mean it will be out of production and off the market soon? What is the average lifespan of a Lego set?

What do you think would be better?
Chair 1: Seat sits on a single plate (to be replaced with a swivel plate when I get around to getting one). Chair will be able to swivel from side to side, but desk and keyboard will look a little too high.

Chair 2: Seat sits on two plates. Bottom plate could be a swivel, allowing chair to swivel and turn when no minifig is in chair, but stopping it from doing so when a minifig is in the chair. Desk and keyboard now looks to be at a more normal height.

That's bullshit.
If this was the same quality and same plastic the price would be close to original one.
Instead it's made in the same factory but chinks use shitty plastic and don't care about damaged or mutilated pieces.
Also the bigger the set is there's a bigger chance it will break as the bricks don't fit as tight as LEGO.

Not purchased them anon but had a good look at their stuff at Brick in Birmingham last year. Minidoll hands are basically a bad design. This is the third one I've broken and I am sure it's because they don't twist to align with what you put in their hands.

Lego seems to have quality issues in general these days, especially with one stud wide bricks and Technic connectors that have that safety hole on their sides.
Hell, you can clearly see the cracks on the cheese slope bricks on the top of the building.

That's what I was kinda hoping when I saw that fake Power Rangers leak. Somebody would get the hint and start making KOs of toku. The KOs stay within the already created themes though.

depends on which infiltrator, but I assume it's the same from last thread
both are nice ships, tyridium is more nostalgic and I think a nicer ship, but infiltrator has better figs (i.e. R2, Qui-Gonn and Maul)
you'll get a poncho either way, infiltrator has lightsabers, tydirium has blasters
People say the Infiltrator is the second worse, but I think it's quite nice, and also I like the grinning Maul, I picture him as a battle thirsty knight, and that expression shows he's ecstasic and thrilled about the battle

I tried that first actually, because I wanted to keep the Ghost Rider head if possible. But the head isn't necessarily glued, at least not what I could see in it. It did look like 2 individual pieces, but the back of the GR head was like fused into the flames. I'd be impressed if someone is able to remove it without damaging the GR head. Those two pieces aren't coming apart willingly.

I appreciate the complement, but unfortunately I'll have to decline. I'm never been much of a writer (art's more my "stronger" suit), so it's not that great and full of cliches. Might buy this set.

Every set I'm interested in buying now seems to stem from some subconscious nostalgia.
The money I use from my wage slave days has all been used to buy other forms of plastic crack over the years.
I've banked all of that money in the form of collectibles that litter my room and which whom's value is determined by a market of people past the recommended ages on the boxes.
I'm young, but I'm aging by the minute, waiting for some flawless get rich quick idea to surreptitiously pop into my pea brain.
No ambitions, no talent as I wasted all my youth playing video games, the most I can do is send memes to friend, make some banal observational comedic comment or say something so shocking they have no other choice but to laugh.
This is my stimulation and I am a consumer.
A floating head able to see, be stimulated and consume.
Unable to give back.
Without a spark of creativity or ambition.
I exist solely to experience.
Constantly digging for new stimulation by excavating every thread on the 5 or so boards I lurk.
Fapping to only the strangest porn my mind hasn't desensitized itself to.

Comfy set though.
>>

I'm currently looking at third-party shipping alternatives because I think, from what I can figure, that ordering Lego sets from the US store and having an external company ship them out to AUS would still actually be cheaper than just buying from the Australian store, which has significantly higher prices as well as no free shipping under $200.

I've liked the first episode they aired and the sneak peak they put out. Apparently what AS aired as the pilot was actually episode 5 but who knows. I'm happy they have this opportunity though, especially Sam.

I think a little Sam slipped out when he asked the VP if they hired an old guy to bully the kids and toughen them up. It was taken to an absurd extreme but Sam talks about people not being masculine and assertive enough throughout his more recent content

First experiencing MDE and watching their stuff was a big deal for me. It was at a weird time and Sams comedy and commentary spurred me to rethink how I do things in my life top to bottom. They're a group and I appreciate Charls and Nicks contributions but Sammy boy is the one I value by far the most

I sincerely hope the copy pastas turn out to be false as having a similar upbringing as Sam and similar views I feel like he's everything my mind could be. Luckily I have 7 or so years behind him so I should have plenty of time to catch up.

That was a great podcast I ended up watching/listening to it there and when MDE reuploaded it on their channel. It was a nice peek a little bit behind the curtain and I thought it was funny how Sam didn't really want Anthony to know if he was still somewhat in character or not. Not sure if you've already seen this or not but they did a stream on twitch and the second half is less about the game and eventually they just start taking questions from the viewers. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WO0T8aS6VQY Might have already seen it but just in case you haven't I just like to spread the more raw videos like that one and the tnd podcast around
I believe I feel in a similar way to you. Sam is pretty cool he's inspired me to want to be better tomorrow than I am today.
>>
>>5844411
Added to my like list, I'll watch it later today since it's 3 am.

Watch fight club, just saw it for the first time last week and it really spoke to me and reminded me of many philosophical things Sam has mentioned either directly or indirectly in his videos.

His videos with his mother really get me though, as mine too goes in bouts of hurling abuse for literally 0 reason. At least Sam wised up and went out to live on his own. Wish my friends had their shit together a bit more and didn't move so far away.
>>
>>5844417
It's an interesting film I should rewatch it sometime. The mother videos always confused me because sometimes it seemed like maybe he egged her on a little before filming but I had never really thought of how he would have grown up with that kind of stuff which honestly just brings me closer in line with him.

Anyway what kind of lego themes is a fellow MDE enthusiast into?

Anything comfy, I like my world simple. Just picked up the Park set with the baby. When it came to $50 CAD I freaked the fuck out and was able to get it for $30 as it was shelved under another price.
Bionicle was another until it just got discontinued.... Luckily there are hundreds of G1 sets I've yet to discovers like pic.
Star Wars, although I've lost some interest in it.

I'd love to get some trains, but I can't justify the $2XX price tags.

It seems that the reason Lego moved away from the old finger hinges to newer click hinges was because finger hinges could lose a bit of friction, which could lead to drooping or buckling depending on what you put on the hinge. Lego has always tried to be timeless so that multiple generations can have fun with the same pieces
>>
>>5842860
So when you say hard use/kid play, I assume that you mean HARD use/play and not just fiddling, posing and lite play.

And I assume that you say that because hard play leads to the printing rubbing off?
>>

Fortrex was some of the most fun I've had with Lego since I got back into it. I do like the ninjago skypirates type stuff. Never had to deal with Lego but I always hear their customer support is good.

I don't like the click hinges because they take up so much space; the best part about the finger hinges was that they're still only one plate tall so you could use them in all sorts of places without worrying about making room around the actual hinge part.

just look at the sets online beforehand, and decide exactly what you want

then you just walk into the store, straight for the elves set you want, like you know exactly what you're doing and it's a mission. no one will question it when you bring it to the cash register

from the SDCC pics I think they use 1x2x2 brick with side studs like you can see here. This is the easiest way to attach everything to the head. You also need to use 2 f these to hold the arms.

Thankfully my local TRU has everything Lego in a single aisle, there's just a general girls' section of it. You can basically be looking at other stuff, then quickly grab the set you're looking for and be about your business without having to venture into bad territory. I usually do this
>>5845768
too and am in and out of the store in no time.

>>5845628
What torso is the bug net girl using?
>>
>>5846344
What is with some many fucking people caring about what others think about them buying shit that contributes to their hobby?

If you buy one of those lego tubs of bricks, holy shit, it has PINK pieces in it!!!!!! YOU MIGHT BE A FAGGOT BECAUSE THERES FIFTEEN PINK PIECES IN IT!!!!!!

Seriously, who gives a fucking shit. People care way too much about what others think of them.

Once you stop giving a fuck, life becomes much easier.
>>
>>5846372
I wish I could but stop caring but it's hard for me
>>
>>5846376
Look at it this way.

Im 32 years old. Back when I was 14, I bought condoms for the first time, and I was that scared fucking kid, kind of trying to hide it, all the late 80s/early 90s stereotypes. When the guy behind the counter saw what I wanted, he smirked at me. I replied with "yeah, its a little embarrassing for me, buying condoms."

The guy laughed and patted me on the shoulder and said "Hey, whats worse? Buying condoms? Or coming back 9 months later and buying pampers?"

That was one of the moments where I stopped giving a fuck and learned to just love life.

No one cares if the lego set you buy is pink or purple or has minidolls in it. When I bought the friends stage set, the guy at the counter at TRU, who is a lego freak, asked what I was using it for. I told him I planned to mod it into a generic stage for lego versions of some of my favorite bands. He loved it.
>>
>>5846386
Thank you for the reassuring words anon. I'll try my best
>>
>>5846372
I also doubt most cashiers are thinking 'wow look at this guy buying pink legos'. They're probably thinking 'what should I eat when my shift is over' or 'how did I end up with such a dead end job?'.
>>
>>5846391
Whether you are trolling or not, I do mean it. Stop caring what others think, do what you do. Enjoy what you enjoy and dont let anyone tell you otherwise or use stupid fucking names and buzzwords to make you feel like shit.

"Autist"

"Edgy"

"Weirdo"

WORDS WORDS WORDS.

They have no meaning anymore because they are used for everything.

Enjoy what you like.. Someone doesnt like it? They were not worth your time anyway.
>>
>>5846397
Exactly.

The average peon really doesnt care. Male OR female. If anything they might look at you and be like, "you like lego? Cool." and just ring you up.

Most of them probably dont even realize that "girl lego" is even a thing. Who gives a shit.

Last pic. I'm not really sure about this one. It was pretty stressful to build and wiped out my stock of good parts. Plus the color scheme looks like shit. But it uses a ton of Mixel joints and the skeleton is a strong build that you could re-skin in to whatever you wanted.

Only asking because my friend got one a while back, and he's clearly not planning on building it any time soon so he may be willing to sell it to me, and I fucking love Ultra Agents. Even then, though, I can safely say the build looks like ass, but the figs are great.

I had a feeling the BP will be 2 Stormtroopers, a Shoretrooper and a Deathtrooper but now with the Ground Crew guy having a new helmet as well I am getting nervous and think they are pulling another First Order Battlepack with some bullshit combo (hopefully including grey Officer hats if it has to be bullshit). And they could still make the Death Troopers Shuttle exclusive since they are like 7 guys in the movie, I think.
Btw. Shoretrooper and Hovertank pilots share the same mould, but I looked up the prop helmets and they looked different, weird.

My biggest fear is that there won't be two Endor style rebel helmets in the rebel pack.

And I still wonder what the other two BPs could be, I hope it's Hoth or something Legends/background based like maybe Galactic Marine Clones.

>>5846875
I love this wave and I hope to love the movie, but those prices are bullshit when they turn out like usual in Europe.
