Still grieving
>>
>>5832929
its honestly making me more sad than it should
>>

You will be missed.
>>

this or break it up into packages of "random" parts based on weight, like 1 or 2 pound boxes. Those sell on ebay, but I don't know how well they do. You may have more luck now than any other time now that the line is ending again.
>>
>>5832959
For me I am less sad about G2 ending than the reminder of G1 ending and the fact that we will never get an experience like that from lego ever again. G2 never quite lived up to G1 in the story department and now never will, and Lego will never bring Bionicle back ever again.

>>
>>5833011
http://www.lego.com/en-us/rebrick/contest-page/contests/lego-bionicle-contest
>Your creation should primarily consist of LEGO BIONICLE, LEGO Constraction and LEGO Technic bricks, but you are allowed to use up to 10% system bricks
>Your entry must not contain military themes or defamatory or degrading elements
>Your entry must not contain copies of any existing third party work or creation, or infringements of any third party intellectual property right will
>You can submit multiple entries to the contest, but only one entry per person will be considered when the winners are selected
>Entries can be previously built, but to ensure fair play entries cannot be submitted previously in any contest of any kind competing for a prize
>Each entry must have been made by the user submitting it
>Entrants must be at least 13 years of age at the time of entry

Quite simple, really.
At least we don't have to compete again with that BZP clusterfuck that won the gold mask contest.

>I think 2016 gali is the weakest of all 2016 sets

She's probably the one who looks the most "incomplete" without the creature and the way they attached the armor left a lot to be desired.
But when combined and the shells switched around she became one of my favorites along with Pohatu.
>>
Well... Shit. This is looking pretty good so far
>>
>>5833067
Seems SLIGHTLY out of proportion, like its not wide enough at the top or something.
>>
Remember everyone email Lego if you haven't to request a release of the MoUP no matter how limited.
>>
>>5833071
Yeah apparently he's not done yet ("I have yet to do the cheeks and the chin spikes.") But as it is, this version is the best one we have so far.
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LAVTiK4e7v8

Am I the only one shocked at this? The level of unprofessionalism and lack of care is disgusting. "So I'm here walking around outside, figured I'd make a video about BIONICLE ENDING AGAIN?! 2010 all over again, right? Lol, see ya in the next podcast, watch all out other videos, k bye fuck off."

I haven't really watched ttv in like 2 years, but I figured they'd gotten more respectable since then.
>>
>>5833088
>>5833067
I fucking hate how fan masks are almost always too flat. There should be way more depth on that thing.
>>
>>5833116
Not a fanboy but he probably wanted to make a vid as close to discovering the news as he could and wasn't near any of his equipment. At least they were quick to report it and gave their expanded thoughts in the latter video. It's called Breaking News for a reason.

>>
>>5833116
Kahi (or John as he likes to be called now) has been doing this all the time lately, he has a vision for the podcast that is honestly not a really great one, seeming to make his decisions based on how much money and popularity he will get rather than whats best for their fans or fans of Bionicle in general.

I thought Var was the same as Kahi, but have since changed my mind and he is pretty cool.

I would say He, Venom and Mesonak are some of the better members of the cast in terms of general attitude towards the fanbase and Meso especially seems the least like a lego shill out of the cast.

>>5833163
They make every other news video in a standard way, be it Var, Meso, Eljay, whoever being the one actually giving out the news, but 100% of Kahi's breaking news videos are facecams like this.

>go to amazon and look up bonkles for the heck of it
>reading reviews
>countless reviews of parents that bought for children who loved it

They did sell, Lego, they did!

It just hurts so bad guys
>>
>>5833379
The people who actually bought sets being happy with them doesn't mean that enough actually sold.
What it does indicate is that the problem was almost certainly related to marketing and not the product itself, but I think we knew that already.
>>
>>5833389
well, no commercials, JTO was only on Netflix, 2016 Summer wasn't even sold at Retailers.

Marketing fucked up.
>>
>>5833452
Even just all the spelling errors and shit on the website was an indicator of how fucked the line was from the start.

>Onya
>>
>>5833203
>Aliexpress
I shall be on the hunt myself.

if ANYONE finds them, hurry up and link em!
>>
>>5833389
To an extent. But marketing alone isn't what makes a product sell. An exceptionally good product can get away with less marketing. If they think they can make a new product with a fresh new theme that will sell better with the same amount of marketing, that's what they're going to do. R&D costs are less than marketing in a way; R&D only happens once, while marketing is a continuous endeavor.

>>5833452
You forget that commercials and TV shows cost millions of dollars and aren't even made for all lego themes. G1 was a lucky fad, and only lasted a few years at that. Lego isn't trying to bet on another fad; they want a predictable and successful product that fills the niche of constraction that can last a few years and be replaced if need be.
>>
Bionicle doesn't need to be (and shouldn't be) forever. If Hero Factory had been the same sets but called 'Bionicle', half of you guys would have eaten it up and half of you would have complained that it's different, just like with G2. It doesn't matter what Lego calls its constraction line. No matter what it's called, it's going to be some hastily written bullshit to market toys to children, and it's going to be plastic pieces designed to make action figures.

It's better that Bionicle is ending, because it was old and played out. CCBS needs some new spice, and all the media surrounding G2 was pure garbage, I don't know why anyone would miss it.
>>
>>5833467

Just scrolled through all 8 pages of their search results for "bionicle" with no luck. Where to boys?
>>
>>5833474
HF even had the TV special to springboard the line. The least LEGO could've done was play the webisodes on CN or Nick, and have JtO on standard television. And another factor is that unlike HF, Bionicle had to compete as the top constraction theme with Star Wars as episode 7 was on the cusp of release, so more people bought those over the Bionicle toys. Sure we had those Superhero ones, but they were so bad it badly did shit to HF.

After months of procrastinating I final started picking up the summer sets starting with Umarak and Ekimu. And holy shit, who the fuck said these sets were bad?! >First couple years/installments are well done classics and could arguably tie up the series (MGS1 and 2/Bonkle 01 and 02)
>Third installment is a fun prequel that adds to the overall lore in an insightful manner while not making things too complicated (MGS3/Metru Nui)
>After this, many years of clusterfuck plots that are too ridiculous for their own good continue the story (MGS4 and PW/Hordika and beyond)

No.

The lore was good enough for a system line, the world was good, and if it was system it might have actually sold enough to not get cancelled in the middle of its first year.

It's a combiner as confirmed by Dorek who met the designers back in June.

-Lord of Skullspiders
-Maskmaker vs Skullgrinder
-Ikir Creature of Fire
-Tahu Uniter of Fire
-Onua Uniter of Earth
-Umarak The Hunter
-Umarak The Destroyer
>>
>>5834864
I know it's a combiner.

But I'd rather buy the parts separately instead of buying dupes of the sets, because that thing clearly won't use single purple or green part from Onua and Umaraks, and there's bunch of other ones as well.
>>
>>5834796
Yeah but then it would be 100% vehicle sets, none of which would look good (probably based around shooting and/or splitting into other vehicles gimmicks), the minifigs would have looked awful since lego puts no effort into those, and the entire story would be so based on these shitty vehicles that it wouldnt even be bionicle anymore.

Come to think of it, I don't remember a single vehicle in all of G2 except for Ekimu's airship in that one comic. It really would have been a completely different story as a System line.
>>
>>5834868
Well assuming that they built the buildings from G2
>>
>>5834887
That's not how modern lego works, you would get maybe like, the tiniest facade of a building, probably just a very scaled down single wall with some action features, and the main focus of the set would be some sort of large vehicle.
>>
>>5834888
Dude I'm just saying the locations of G2 looked good.
>>
>>5834874
>>5834888
Yes yes, we know you hate everything that isn't Bonkle, but Ninjago and Nexo Knights weren't the reason why Bonkle failed.
>>
>>5833067

Is this the one on Shapeways? I heard someone's working on one that works via axle like G1 Masks.
I'm more interested in the Shapeways one though.

After the initial shock that made me want to ragequit Lego for good, I have a newfound resolve to gather my parts and build new MOCs, and actually think that not having many new parts to deal with next year might help me focus on the old stuff and find uses for it.

Anyone else feel the same?
>>
>>5834894
It's not Ninjago / Nexo Knights shitposting, its the truth. The only way a theme gets actual structures / buildings and not just vehicles is if its REALLY successful.
>>
In a long run, even if Bonkle is dead, it really helped CCBS as a building system.

Even the last wave of Hero Factory (the beasts especially) were pretty plain build-wise. It was just all bones and shells. Just think of all the new things that we got thanks to Bionicle. Even the first wave introduced the gearbox, which was perfected with the new SW torso. It reintroduced bright green to CCBS palette, and added azure and dark orange altogether. The bony-bone, two new armor addons and unity-piece are all great pieces in their own right. Then there was the torso with waist articulation.

I'm not saying that G2 didn't have issues, but on the long run, it had certainly its share of good things as well.

The same reason that villagers don't seem to turn into Toa, or how Makuta and his brother are actual brothers. They didn't want to stick too close to G1.
>>

Ekimu isn't technically a Toa no, but he fills the roll of the seventh team member.
>>
God im pissed. Well, anyone want a complete collection of the first half of the G2 wave.
>>
>>5835385
If there had been a third year like it was orongsly planned, what do you think wouldve happened? Would the guardians have become toa?
>>
>>5835399
Probably all that would have changed was instead of them BTFOing Makuta before he could arrive, Makuta and the Shadow City would return to Okoto as an evil empire the Toa would have to befall.

We might have gotten Shadow Protectors as the small sets, a new set of Toa imbued with light powers from Agil, and Makuta with the MoUP. And that'd be the final wave.

Would be an extra cherry on top if Tahu came with the Mask of Time.
>>
>>5835399
I think that JtO would have ended differently. Ekimu may have granted the Toa one final set of armor and weapons, to become the Champions of Okoto.

The small sets would be villagers corrupted by shadow. Mostly black with hints of their original village's color, they would come with black/trans-element color masks, and include regular solid colored masks for when the Toa heal them. Give them different professions for weapon variety.

15$ villain set, "Rahkshi the Guardian" protecting the outskirts of the Shadow Realm.

And then a summer wave consisting of a bunch of shadow-villains homaging different G1 species, and a big Makuta the Mask Hoarder with gold MoUP and trans-black/trans-red MoUP.

If it were a combo pack and even if they trimmed out all the pieces it doesn't use, that's nowhere near enough.

149 pieces, 20 bucks. I'd say Makuta has more pieces than say, three Dragon Bolts.

Well, I did some math.

IF Makuta would use every single piece, he would be sitting at hefty 1031 pieces. MSRP for the sets that make up him is $140.

But we can't count the truly accurate would-be price before we get the part list with the unused parts cut out.

Aside from pic related, are there any other bootlegs I can use to fill the void for a while? I remember seeing some from g1/hero factory that used some slizer parts, and there is a faux gali nuva which looks interesting. I've seen it used as bait for custom bonkle parts before, I think it might have had ball joints that were too small for ccbs. Please help me bonkle general, I need my fix. Although if I'm using a drug analogy, bootlegs might be the equivalent of substituting heroin for krokodil.

Oh also, I've been away for a while, any progress or news from the anon who was recasting masks? I believe he was planning on selling some, I'd love to see him join forces with the person recreating the unreleased makuta mask digitally and 'mass' produce it in flat gold and trans orange/red, or even a gradient like the protector masks. I'm currently making a list of every part, its colour, the quantity and the Bionicle set that it appeared in.
>>

1) The rules say 90% Bionicle/Constraction/Technic, so G1 shouldn't be a problem.
2) My guess is System, but you could ask in the comment section just to be sure.

What I would have liked:

Tahu - Red and Orange
Gali - Dark Blue and Dark Azure
Lewa - Green and Lime
Kopaka - White and Grey
Pohatu - Brown and Tan
Onua - Black and Grey

Unfortunately, CCBS makes all these color schemes look like shit, unless secondary colors are made into the skeleton color on limbs or something. CCBS just isn't a good system if they arent willing to introduce new shell types, therefore you basically have to use transparent secondary colors so that the background showing through the parts mimics some level of detail, because those generic shells on everything just ruin designs.

I also would prefer no metallic colors on standard figures, It doesnt really look that good, Primary Color, Secondary Color, and Black, thats all there really should be. Metallic colors should be exclusive to villains and/or titans and/or important figures.

You could probably make it work, he has an affinity with shadow. You could say that the trans green represents his Antidermis gas inside the armor or something. Shadow Traps could be effectively replaced with Kraata.
>>
You know, we never got concrete answers as to what the Mask of Creation and Control actually do.

Like okay, yeah. The Mask of Creation lets you make pretty masks and Control took over the mind of Umarak. But how the fuck did Makuta use the mask's power without actually wearing it?

DAMN YOU G2. I wan't specifics.
>>
Bonkles still seem mostly reasonably priced for me right now, with an outlier being a $26 Umarak the hunter.

When is it appropriate to freak out and order them before it's too late?
>>
Tell me boys, was JTO's ending at least well done for what it was? Did they make the best out of rushing it out the door? If you didn't know 2017 were ever going to be a thing, would this year have sufficed? I'm too afraid to watch it myself because I know it'll make the pain worse
>>
>>5837679
I personally would say it felt rushed and just tried cutting to the finale as fast as it could. I mean the final battle is around a minute and Gali pretty much uses some bullshit plot device out of her ass, that "it's not the planet giving them powers, they give the planet power" and throws in the Unity, Duty, Destiny line too.
>>
>>5837679
They wasted too much time with episode 3's beasts and Umarak. Not to mention there was barely any real action and no dialogue between the mask maker brothers
>>
>>5837654
the mask of control might be elemental control. it would explain why a fucking mask maker would have it in the first place, and why umarak was able to shout a whole new species into existence

>tfw Tahu doesn't summon G1 Toa with the Mask of Time and vanquish Makuta in one mighty joint attack like some power rangers team up shit

>>
>>5837679
I think they did as good as they could wrapping things up with the cancellation. Of course with having to end it suddenly there's almost no build up and it left me feeling like whatever. It took these 2 years to build up to Makuta only for him to have a "encounter" that lasts less then 2 mins and then its done. The ending is open to continue Bionicle, but g2 ended in a fizzle.

Anyone here working on building Makuta with the sets?
>>
>>5837679
It was anticlimactic shit, you can tell they scrambled to cram in whatever junk they needed from the scrapped '17 story ideas to sorta hold the whole thing together.

Makuta doesn't even do anything at the end, he just appears, chills in the background while Gali delivers exposition on how to defeat him, they force in some moral, and they defeat him.
>>
>>5837703
im the faggot who cant figure out his ass armor, but hes built aside from that. and the staff, but thats due to a lack of parts. he seems to have a slight tilting issue.
>>
>>5837709
I'm also amused at how quickly they ditch the uniter beasts, too.
>>
>>5837699
Naw. Cuz he never directly controls the elements himself. He just allowed his traps the means to become more powerful themselves, who's own elements were stolen from other beings.

I think being able to control all the elements is the MoUP's shtick.
>>
Here's how I wished G2 ended
Makuta gets through the shadow realm to okoto. He then unleashes a shadow horde of some sort that the toa are constantly fighting while Makuta sits in the city of the Mask Makers.
The toa and Ekimu fight their way through the city until they reach Makuta. Ekimu goes to fight Makuta only to be killed. Before his death the toa comfort Ekimu, Ekimu says he had a plan to rid Okota of Makuta. Ekimu hands over the Mask of Time that he had made and gave it to Tahu. Tahu uses the vahi to summon (place G1 character(s) here) to destroy Makuta. Makuta is then destroyed and the toa fade out of existence.
The story of the legend of the Toa and the Mask Makers are passed on for generations and everyone lives happily ever after the end.
>>
>>5837719
Yeah. It was my dream conclusion for Tahu to use the mask of time to summon every Toa from G1 into their world; all of which would combine their powers together and lock Makuta in a permanently unbreakable Toa seal before returning to their own timeline.
>>
I kind of liked the ending the way it is. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Fuck guys I'm contemplating picking up all the sets to make Makuta before prices rise. I could make it with the sets I have, but my autism wouldn't be able to handle characters dismantled to make Makuta. Fuck do I just buy all the required sets now or wait for a potential sale?
>>
>>5837751
Its really hard because for example I found a website that has most of the 2015 sets still in stock. however they are still all regular price and I think theyd rather slowly sell them than discount them and get rid of them. The only place where I saw bionicle on sale was 2016 sets at walmart and there was about 20 each of lewa and pohatu and probably 10 or so each of akida and ikir, they had a good amount of stock, just little variety

It seems the official lego shop at home puts their sets on sale when they start to get low on stock, so maybe judge by that?

and then theres some people on bricklink/amazon/ebay that are retarded and charging 100 dollars for open G2 sets (NO BOX) (NO INSTRUCTIONS) like what the fuck

it might be a good idea to pick up some of the ones you really want now and try to get ones you dont want as much on sale
>>
>>5837758
I have all the g2 sets, my problem is when should I pick up the extras to make Makuta? I don't want to sit around waiting for stuff to go on sale only to be fucked later on having a harder time buying them.
>>
The forges of Ta-Metru get pretty hot, don't they? Keep it up. The SW shoulderpad shouldn't take as long to make as the masks. Making sure that the bars are strong enough seems like the biggest issue.
>>
>>5837777
>Making sure that the bars are strong enough seems like the biggest issue.
I'd say just go full model kit builder and replace them with injection-molded plastic rods or metal rods.

>polished white plastic
> I can't say how "polished" that'll be

Even 'polished' is still pretty grainy, I don't know how that'd affect mold making.
>>
>>5837834
Not mask maker anon, but I've done a casting of a painted model kit piece with a matte coat and the silicon mold was able to pick up the texture of the paint. Shapeways polished white has a much more coarse texture than the average topcoat, so the mold will definitely pick that up.
>>
>>5837847
Eh, at least it'd be cast in gold. And I for one just love the gummy plastic feel of a resin piece, so even with the grain it'd still be a step above a painted one directly from shapeways.
>>
>>5837834
You can polish it even further with a dremel and a polishing wheel. You just have to be patient and not let it heat up enough to melt the surface.

There's also a technique to melt a microlayer of the part with acetone vapor for a smoother finish, but I've never tried it.
>>
>>5837760
Are you buying online or do you have stores near you
>>
>>5837879
Live in the US I was planning to buy online as nowhere except the toysrus near me has bionicle sets anymore. Even then the toysrus carries year 2 sets and skull wave. At this point the only chance of owning the jto makuta is to just buy all the required sets in this >>5837451 I just don't know if I should purchase them now or wait for a possible sale that may never happen and end up having to overpay for the 2015 sets. Lego shop is out of everything needed pretty much so that's a no go.
>>
>>5837744
Plus as an addition I'd need to get in touch with the guy making the shapeways part, so things don't get into bizarre "stealing someone else's bootleg" territory. Not sure how it would work out exactly, but I need to get my ther masks out first to get a feel for ow the "business" goes.

>>5837847
it's very fine detail that silicone can pick up. I've learned the hard way, even fingerprints will show.

>>5837777
As long as the two parts are measured as equally as possible, that isn't a concern. I'm expecting Smooth-On plastic to be superior to the Alumilite I've been using, but it's still decent quality for resin.

When the guy posted pictures on TTV, I thought it was pretty accurate, but seeing the turnaround on Shapeways, there's something off with the proportions. Either the jaw is too big, or the forehead isn't wide enough.
>>
>>5838352
There's more wrong with it than that, actually. Looking at it side-by-side, the fins, shape of the forehead, and overall silhouette of the mask is pretty far off.

my grandad bought me Lewa Mata which was my first Bonkle. He'd send over Bonkles even when my family was staying in Canada. He always called them "Bionics" but I think he genuinely liked them, he even got a Keetongu for my cousin so that when he grew up he'd have a dank set to play with. Sadly my grandad passed away when I was like 10 or 11. Because I was so young back then (well relatively speaking) I don't remember much about his personality, what I talked to him about, etc etc, but I still have the Bonkles. I can still recall opening the canister and getting my cousins (they got Tahu) to help me fix him.

Yup. On its default orientation, you have to push the head to ridiculous degrees for the face and the eyes to be visible like in official art, and you need a long neck to pull that off. Otherwise, it looks squashed and you can barely see the eyes.p
The flipped version, while cool, becomes too tall and looks like it's wearing a silly hat.
And the other versions of the Mask don't work either for one reason or the other.

It's funny that the best and most functional form of the Kraahkan isn't even supposed to be a Kraahkan. To this day I still wonder if it was originally meant for a cancelled Makuta (not necessarily Teridax) set.

I like the Uniters too much to do that, and I'd want them on the same shelf as Makuta.

Asking for an inventory isn't that unreasonable, is it? Sooner or later someone is going to dismantle theirs, so all they have to do is lay the parts out and snap a picture. Typing out a list from there would a cakewalk.

I think he meant in the sense of an IP that lacks history and/or characters we have grown to love should have been the one with marketing cuts and an unplanned cancellation. I can't say for sure but I'm pretty sure this is Legos first attempt at a reboot of an original IP, with classic characters returning and everything, and they dropped the ball pretty hard.

prints in shapeways strong and flexible material are always going to turn out sort of grainy and not very shiny. you could sand it and paint it yourself. theres also the frosted details material which make for really smooth prints, but are really expensive and always clear, so youd have to paint that yourself.

>>

God, it seems like the more i think about the more retarded legos approach to g2 was.
>>
>>5840248
You know, now that I think about it more, when you have a title "Mask Maker" you'd think that'd be a good reason to have mask packs, like Makuta's failed masks or MoUP even, as well as some of Ekimu's work, and give out digital instructions for a "Wall of Masks" or what not.

Also i really wanna know what they would have done with year 3 had it been a thing. Another toa redesign? Protector toa? Toa of light + makuta?
>>
>>5840333
I'd assume it would have taken place in the shadow realm for the most part, so no new toa form but twisted shadow beings.
>>
>>5840333
If I had to guess, I'd say Ekimu being a Toa would have probably been a permanent thing with more buildup, and he would upgrade the Toa one last time, and year 3 would have involved them fighting shadow matoran or shadow toa, and probably some kind of spirity ghost-like enemies, and Makuta obviously.

Let that sit
>>
>>5842123
But how did she survive the surge of the 6 elemental powers? I thought that consumed her while at the same time broke the seal keeping Makuta trapped.
>>
>>5842120
She became a double agent in the Brotherhood vs Dark Hunters war, then got back to her island to climb the Mountain again, then a large Rahi (don't recall which) wrecked the place, then she was forced to turn the Rahaga back.

The Bionicle World book I think said that she wanted to train her people for war, but as with other things in that book (Karzahni making a Matoran army, the Mana-Ko engaging in war), Greg kinda forgot about it.

>>5842129

It's more than just implied. The assault just left her unconscious and Makuta teleports her to safety after he's released. The Dark Hunters try employing the Toa Nuva to find and get rid of her, but they instead force her to turn the Rahaga back into Toa and then leave her in their custody. She's then taken to the Order of Mata Nui who add her to (and I shit you not) the Bionicle Suicide Squad.

I think people are able to reverse the mutations they caused. So the only cure for Roodaka's Rhotuka was herself.

Nah you're not forgetting anything. The movie simply didn't explain shit, so you had to read up on the story elsewhere. I remember back in the day on BZP, when the 4th 2006 book came out and Roodaka showed up in it, many fans were surprised to see her alive and they stormed Greg with questions.

They also got distracted by some baby's first unity project game that literally had no content other than "gib us ur movie models pls" which divided up the already short on talent workforce even more.

You would need an actual competent team with a clear end goal to achieve something as ambitious as even one film.

He had no powers of his own after being separated from the Ignika. I assume his face looked the same, just with the back of his head looking more like the other Piraka instead of having a second face there.

He did however eventually steal a Kanohi Olmak before being hit by a wave of Energized Protodermis, which absorbed the mask into his body, giving him an uncontrollable ability to randomly pass between alternate dimensions and universes.

A Great Being disabled this ability of his though, right before the massive G1 serial cliffhanger.

Aside from the longer legs, I have no idea what the designers were trying to accomplish with Terak's gear gimmick aside from maybe table flipping. At least Melum's could be used for crushing/grappling.
>>
>>5843084
>Melum
>Solid
Hahahaha, good one. His shoulders are a nightmare.
As I said here >>5843058 If you're not a fucking idiot and pose him so the function is locked in place, Ketar holds together as well as any other.
>>
>>5843106
At least Terak's gimmick is extremely satisfying when uniting with Onua. There's just something about slamming the fists over the pauldrons.
>>
>>5843106
It's supposed to be digging. I think Terak's overall look compensates for the rest of his flaws. Every aspect of his design looks cooler than Melum.
>>
>>5843109
>His shoulders are a nightmare.
Sounds like you're the idiot if you think Ketar's gear gimmick is fine but Melum's somehow isn't.

Don't be a fucking idiot and actually work with Melum's shoulders, like you do with Ketar.

>>5843112

>>
>>5843112

>>
>>5843135
>you have to be imaginative
>still thinks Melum shoulders are a nightmare
Sounds like you're not being imaginative enough in the first place, friend.

I'll give you Ketar being more interesting of a design, but you're giving up way too quickly on Melum.
>>
Speaking of the creatures, am I the only one who sees their default set builds as part of their personality?
>Terak: tries super hard to look badass with his constantly raised shoulders, but soft inside and enjoys the uniting process
>Melum: Terak's kind of retarded brother, the only one that practices any form of martial arts (specifically Judo or whatever Bionicle equivalent)
>Ketar: the nervous wreck, but gets shit done by doing unintentional damage with his shaking
>Akida: /k/, the fish
>Uxar: Jealous about everyone, sans Akida, having better ground mobility because he has short back legs, and constantly tries to race everyone through his flying
>Ikir: the "normal" one, takes advantage of his lava home to get away from the others when shit gets out of control among the other 5
I know, this is most likely my autism in top gear, but I kept the creatures stock and I'm starting to pair their identities to their set design.
>>
>>5843106
I think terak would have been better if they made the arms longer so it would extend further than the head and make more sense

Creatures are 100x better than those shitty guardians tho
>>
>>5843139
The difference is, there are built-in means to fix Ketar, you don't even have to reassemble anything. Melum is just floppy regardless.
>>
>>5843146
>tfw the creatures are actually the year 1 toa in a different form
>>
>>5843150
>there are built-in means to fix Ketar, you don't even have to reassemble anything
>Melum is just floppy regardless
I have both in hand and Ketar is definitely flopping around while Melum is doing just fine with the 3M friction pin. Literally the only thing that I find that fixes the floppiness on Ketar without reassembling or pulling out some parts slightly so that the molded ends of the technic pins add some friction is the uniting with Pohatu and positioning everything so it locks up.
>>
>>5843147
>guardians
Is this some ebin meme now, or are you the same idiot who keeps calling them this because you can't be assed to remember their actual title?
>>
>>5843161
Pose his back legs to lock the tail in place, solidifying his arms. It's not hard.
>>
>>5843150
>Melum is just floppy
How rough did you play with Melum where you ground down the friction ridges on his technic parts?
>>
>>5843165
That's not built in, same with all of the alternate Pohatu Unification options. That's just being imaginative, which you are certainly failing to do with Melum if you're dismissing him as "floppy".
>>
>>5843174
To be fair i suspect they packed melum in with kopaka because lego thought he was the worst of the creatures and wpuldnt sell well on its own
>>
>>5843150
>Melum is just floppy regardless.
And Ikir and Uxar aren't?
>>
>>5843184
And one could also suspect that if he was a full $10, he'd be miles better than the current set (which is already on par with Ketar from what I'm getting between you and I), and would certainly still not be "floppy".
>>
>>5843168
It's not a problem when you're just posing him. I'm just doing an unorthodox shake test.

And to be frank, I don't have many actual problems with Melum; I think he's fine. It's just that when I mentioned he's the worst of the six, people jumped on the "REEEE KETAR" train, and I'm just trying to say he's no worse than Melum is.
>>
>>5843184
So get creative and rebuild him like he's a $10 set, you economic fuck.
>>
>>5843197
>people jumped on the "REEEE KETAR" train
Literally only one guy said that. The other guy just asked if you think Terak is also bad, and I assume it's the same guy asking if the "flop" logic also applies Ikir and Uxar.

>I'm just trying to say he's no worse than Melum is.

Yes. Again, it's not loose enough to ACTUALLY bother me. I'm just pointing out that when I lock Ketar's tail using his back legs and shake him around, he's more solid than any of those.
>>5843203
>So how is Melum worse than Ketar if they're onpar with one another?
He's a far more interesting character design and WAY more fun to pose.
