It's still certainly one of the (two) biggest official Transformers, and as the flagship item in the Titans Return product line, its ridiculous size is still worth discussing.

Anyway unless they start saying that Max is 100% unique and has no equals in size, it's totally fine to flaunt its size in promotional material for their toyline.

And certainly if they claim it as the tallest then that would go into a grey area where people end up arguing all thread.

The size it is homages the original, that's a good thing, but being a retool of metroplex deflates the impact just a tad.

Especially since it can't accurately recreate its old city mode, least officially, and the fan mode stable enough to remain as pic related over extended periods of time.

Plenty of other issues too like the lack of (designated) hand held weaponry, overall the size is a small area, its all in the retoolings.

From an observational standpoint they're clever, rotating sections and adding in only a tiny bit to make him new all over again aesthetically, and if given a bit more budget I think we'd be talking more about him if the city mode he had was properly g1 accurate, may even excuse some of his other flaws.

All in all, he's big, can't dodge that, but that isn't the most interesting bit about him, since that's a size class, if anything a bigger talking point in terms of size would be devastator (6 voyagers into one small titan) or something bigger that comes, or a whole new mold (still awaiting trypticon and scorponok who'd be a retool no doubt)

Yeah I actually think the bigger talking point is the play potential with the Titan Masters. Having little guys with little vehicles really makes the guy feel more like a city, instead of just an awkwardly-sized base mode.

I remember at Toy Fair last February the design team brought a rough prototype of Trypticon to the Hasbro panel. It wasn't a retool of anything, it was a foam figure in the shape of the dino mode. So it's definitely gonna be a unique mold; whether it'll be shared with Scorponok has yet to be seen.

Also it'll probably still be related to Titans Return; that was what the vote was for, and it's clear that the line will be running well into 2017.

Personally I'd be fine with a Leader Scorponok since I've always been a comics fan and Scorpy has always been a decently sized but not fuckhueg guy in the comics.

But you can look at a Energon Scorponok for just an idea of how he could be a retool of Trypticon. For starters Tryps will likely have a spaceship mode that Scorponok will share, and then the dino head/cockpit will become the tail of the scorpion while the dino legs become pincers

Lets break this down for the moment.

The rule of thumb *usually* is takara wins again because hasbro cuts back on paint apps, like TR blurr compared to deluxe blurr, or heavy retooling in the case of UW vs CW computron, and so far that has been *mostly* true.

What we have between the headmaster deluxes is something that doesn't happen, preference, nothing but, not one is better than the other (well we don't know any QC issues on the takara ones, I'm only aware skullcruncher is a floppy bastard) and therefore we can out down our pitchforks between the 2.

Besides every line has a fuckup between them, it just looks bad when takara fucks up because theirs cost more and takara elitist end up being drowned out by hasbro apoligist.

I'm just amazed I haven't heard much more from UW bruticus, for all that paint and a vehicle accurate blastoff the qc issues and the apparent incorrect brown on him and people have shut right up about him already, but then again most of y'all didn't like the gloriously multi-colored chest and prefer the blank grey plastic (which really, should of been painted silver or least metallic injected silver).

For the record I dip in between, fuck if it weren't for the deluxes still not in my neck of the woods I would of went full hasbro on them

I think my problem is that back when I first started collecting like 12 years ago, I'd just buy any and everything Transformers related for the sake of having shit. 4 years ago, I realized how dumb that was and started selling off a lot of my collection and only keeping the things I really wanted. I probably sold 200+ figures for a decent enough profit, but I'm sure I have at least 400 or so figures still in my attic that people just weren't interested in. Shit like the RID brothers, Beast Machines maximals, various movie and Universe repaints... no one wants that shit anymore. Seems like most collectors (myself included) have gotten pretty selective in what they buy.

The days of people just buying shitty Transformers just to have them is long gone. I blame 3rd parties stepping up their game, and the fact that the movie hype is dying out.

I don't think it's super hard to do, judging from pictures. I think you cut off some of the chinstrap bit that connects to the flip gimmick to free the mask piece, then sand the inside of the mask until it looks more snug on the headmaster face. Then ya glue it.

I think they were trying to use translucent parts to hide the kibble on the two (the wings on Megatron, the forearm flaps on Prime). Like they're not really there except for alt mode.

The problem is Megatron uses a lot of his leg and arm bits in his altmode, so they have to match the translucent bits more. Prime only has a little kibble in his bot form, so less egregious translucent plastic.
