Most definitely. ROTF was generally a fantastic line, and the Scouts were seen as the cream of the crop. Ransack was much-loved on /toy/, for his awesome biplane mode and creepy rickety "terminator wearing a mining helmet" altmode. He poses well, has a fairly interesting transformation, and looks great. What more can you ask for? Check out the rest of the ROTF scouts while you're at it, they're almost all amazing.

I feel kinda sad when I look back on that time. Whether or not you were into the Bayverse aesthetic, it was undeniable that Hasbro was bringing their A-game to the table. There have been some good toys since of course, but I kind of feel like things will never be that good ever again.

Divebomb is cool too, but I didn't dig how they made half his "bot parts" black and half that warm grey. It just made him look weirdly mismatched to me, and I also think the black doesn't showcase the details in the sculpt as well as the grey did. Still a good toy, but that annoyed me. Plus the fact that they made what I consider his lower jaw red instead of grey or silver.

Be honest, how many of us would prefer the "true" third mode of galvatron over the jet (the hand held laser ray)?

Also opinions, FINALLY titan returns voyagers have arrived in my country and they're in a store over an hour away from me, but $5 cheaper than normal rrp... the trip there is gonna go past that $5 saving.

Should I wait until a local branch gets them in, even though he has that shitty head gimmick I have the supplies to fix that galvatron, wanted the legends but paint can't help what needed to be modded anyway

Depends on your aesthetic/scale preferences. The most G1 looking Shockwave is the FoC deluxe but it's a little small and made of kinda shite plastic. DotM Shockwave is IMO the best sized and most solid figure but you have to be into the Bayformers look (personally I am but that's just me). Energon Shockwave is a good size and looks great, but his waist is a mess with no locking mechanism, so I wouldn't recommend him unless you're up for modifying him a bit.

Ignoring price?
Masterpiece is my top pic. Some people dislike the lighter purple but I see no issue with it. Bigger beef is you need two types of batteries for his light up parts
After that it be alternators Shockwave very close to G1 in the no car parts design and very possible. That said he does turn into an earth alt mode which seems odd for him.
FoC Shockwave would be after that however he's a bit on the small, thin end of things and his gun is just comical to his body in terms of size

I actually just got a CW Cyclonus in the mail today for the sake of putting the "replacement member" limbs on him for an original combiner. He's neat, and I'm impressed with all the remolding that was done for him, headsculpt is cool an looks like the mtmte design with the bw dinobot looking face, and that shade of purple is delicious.

The visible head in jet mode is weird though, and as much as I hate to use a buzzword, the plastic quality on this guy feels a bit off compared to most of my other cw stuff.

>>5800051
People often skip past mp's in discussions, whether it's cost (since RiD and generations are cheaper to acquire) too many letdowns to bother bringing them up (bumbebee size, shockwave's purple and spindly legs, track's proportions etc) is another matter.

I'd love more discussion about mp's but I don't see it happening

MPs are a given to at least be pretty good, to they're not really worth discussing. Plus most MP only collectors don't really give a shit about non-82 to Movie designs, so you have a line that's pretty much composed entirely of slavish retro designs with not much else. I don't have a problem with that, but you definitely don't get the kind of diversity you get in the Generations lines.

Last I checked Shockwave was sold out in a bunch of places so it's pretty much a moot point anyway.
>>
>>5800145
>Last I checked Shockwave was sold out in a bunch of places so it's pretty much a moot point anyway.

Not hlj, they had him up for sale at one point, g2 bumblebee sold out faster than him same for ironhide, dunno if the general price point of amiami is that good or one ordered too much and the other ordered not enough, my guess is the complaints about the purple and the spindly legs may of affected his sales, least at hlj
>>
>>5800145
>Last I checked Shockwave was sold out in a bunch of places so it's pretty much a moot point anyway.

>>
>>5800185
You realize that the franchise has existed for way longer than just G1 right? There is order of magnitudes more non-G1 material than there is G1.

I know you're desperately attached to your childhood but sometimes things that are different can be good.

Personally I'd rather have just about anything than another boring ass 1982 Autobot car.
>>
>>5800187
>eBay
>always scalper prices

Lot of stuff, yeah. But occasionally, you get a good deal. It's not as consistent as, say, Amazon, or specialized retailers, but not considering all options makes you a retard.

I've gotten tons of shit off eBay for less than it'd have cost elsewhere just because the seller offered free shipping, or because it was a cheap lot deal, or an auction no one noticed that I got for a fraction of the years-later-scalper-price.
>>
>>5800185
You already got the best possible Shockwave in the best possible scale for all your autistic needs, some people don't collect MP and might want a good alternative to engaging with a line they don't want to start with.
You don't have to be a manchild about it.
>>
>>5800192
>There is order of magnitudes more non-G1 material than there is G1

Citing all the sources, sure. Citing each source individually VS G1? Nope, eat shit. G1 had a long running comic series, movie, 3 seasons, a Japanese continuation, and every comic series since (outside of one shot movie deals and specials) has been based on G1. We've had multiple games based on G1. G1 has tons of reissues, is the basis of most CHUG, and is the focus of the line still even now.

You're a blind faggot or a troll if you think the fandom isn't firmly entrenched in G1 or CHUG-based-on-G1.

I really, really wanna love Hardhead because of how much his altmode reminds me of Multimac, one of my favorite toylines as a kid. But sadly, his bot mode looks pretty shitty to me. I hate how pinched and tiny his face looks, and his body is just totally underwhelming to me. If Deluxes were still like $12 or so I'd say fuck it, I'll just enjoy him for his altmode, but for $20? Nahhhh. It still makes me sad though.
>>
Aside from CW/UW Nosecone are there any good drill tank TFs?
>>
>>5800228
I don't consider Animated a reimagined G1, but I definitely consider the movies, the UT, and Prime as reimagined G1 setups. I'm counting this primarily based on scenario rather than direct character parallels.

Keep in mind that I've been around for a while; so when Armada came out after the beast era, it certainly felt like a return to G1 in terms of set up and style. Its a series based on contemporary Earth where they take vehicle disguises. Same thing with the movies, and Prime, which even share a bunch of g1 characters(namewise, at least). And of course Energon's setup is based in part on the later G1 seasons.

$30 each for sealed Beast Wars Basics isn't bad, you poorfag.
>>
>>5800593
Yep I used some Transformers magic to do that but joking aside, like what >>5800604 I used a 3% hydrogen peroxide solution and put them in a tupperware and then under the sun. I found out that you don't need to 100% submerge them in the solution to work, it is enough to have a sensible amount and then just seal it tight so while under the sun it evaporates and condenses inside the sealed container and that alone also works. Unfortunately on my Mach the paints on the tip of the shuttle kinda got ruined and that is the only painted part that was somewhat ruined. I can always just repaint that but whatever I guess.

You can't avoid the messed up paint unfortunately, some of the toys don't get affected and some don't get ruined but mine was the unlucky one that did.
>>
>>5800693
Quickstrike is pretty fun. I got one at an anime shop last year for about 7 bucks loose.
>>
>>5800693
Are you new to collecting? Because any decent collector knows how important the packaging is. I only buy loose shit personally if I'm planning to play with it or in the case of vintage stuff loose is fine when the price of one in box is x3~4 of the loose one.

Also if you plan of throwing the vintage package please just put it up on ebay and sell it for $30 bucks cause there will be people who are willing to pay for an empty box to make theirs boxed. Packaging for collectors is roughly 20~300% of an item's value against it being loose.
>>
>>5800675
Basically because exactly what you'd do with them. Since you're throwing away that's one less MISB example of that figure in the world.
>>

>there will be people who are willing to pay for an empty box to make theirs boxed.
Well, shit, you just gave me a better reason not to buy MISB if I can help it.
If I wanted that MISB Quickstrike was to have it in as good a condition as possible because the transparent plastic scares me, but it might not be MISB but just a normal Quickstrike shoved into a box.
>>
I can't find CW Sky Lynx anywhere for a good price.

Should I just buy a G1 Sky lynx for my CHUG shelf instead?
>>
>>5800708
Yes. G1 Sky Lynx doesn't have a forced combiner torso mode.
>>
>>5800708
Yeah, the G1 is bigger.
>>
>>5800715
I like the combiner mode a little, actually. But only as a bonus- not planning to display him as a gestalt.

On one hand the CW is more detailed and articulated but the G1 can split into the two robots and is bigger.

Fuck, we need a leader sky lynx for Titans Return or something.
>>
>>5800723
Sky-Lynx would have worked much better as a Leader for TR. They were probably starting to plan for TR when they were thinking of making him, so I have no idea why they thought CW was more viable, when TR would have taken advantage of him more.

>If I wanted that MISB Quickstrike was to have it in as good a condition as possible because the transparent plastic scares me, but it might not be MISB but just a normal Quickstrike shoved into a box.

You do know MISB means right? IT WAS never opened. You will be able to spot if the item was opened or tampered with the moment you see the item. MIB is mint in box which is basically opened/played but was always put back in their box.

And you're a fucking retard cause Quickstrike and the only way to get to him is to break the plastic clamshell and thus ruining the card back. That is not really MISB but MOSC; Mint On Seal Card. Those are harder to tamper with.
>>
>>5800733
I'd love a leader sky lynx that splits into two robots- each one with a titan master cockpit and shitloads of little titan master pegs everywhere.

You guys bitch about scalpers and yet you fucking break your toys and lose the accessories and thus creating a market for people looking for stuff that are in good to amazing and complete condition and thus that's how the prices for older stuff goes up cause you know they don't make old shit anymore.

I'm not defending scalpers cause most of them are just scummy but I would understand why they would price a complete toy from the early days of Transformers cause finding one in that condition really does take time and effort to find. You just don't go and wake up one day and just walk down the street and expect to find 100% complete G1 Jazz or even a Diaclone Convoy for what they were back on retail. You actually will have to work for it to complete it yourself and pay as much as you are willing to. By the end of it you probably have spent weeks, months, or even years to complete one.

Aaaaaaand?
>>
>>5800810
Well I don't really have old toys since our family migrated to a different country and all of what I have now are stuff I just started amassing again after getting back into the hobby. Growing up I broke toys since most of my shit were KOs anyways so even if I took care of them they would just break from normal use, but my legit ones I did take care of them till I had to give them away. I had a lot of Beast Wars stuff that were still in Amazing condition and had all the parts still that were given away.

At least now as an adult collector, I try to get my shit MISB or MIB 100% complete at c8+ or if it's loose I try my best to also have them at 100% The only thing I let slide if they are missing are the missiles for the most part.
>>
>>5800818
Well Vangelus said he will try to get it out asap but his last panel from 2015 got delayed till a few days to tfcon 2016 so don't expect anything at all is what I'm saying. But the toy really looked nice and is like a combination of G1, Prime, and animated. The plastic isn't too bad as well but the legs ball joints were a bit loose.

Yeah, some of the later RiD stuff is good.

I'd recommend Drift, Fracture, Megatronus, Thunderhoof, Quillfire...and the upcoming Windblade, Scorponok, and Bisk all look good.

There's also a Ratchet coming out soon but that's just a remold of Strongarm. Your mileage may vary on Strongarm - some people really like her but I find her to be just a bit too kibbly for my tastes. Still might get Ratchet though since I just like Ratchet.

Also I'll recommend the RiD Jazz. It's an unbelievably simple toy but there's some appeal to him. I like his lance.

Right now I'm planning on getting him, Weirdwolf, and Mindwipe from Titan's Return because I love robot animal transformers. I'd like to get three autobots to balance them out... It's the right shade of brown and fits in more thematically with the team. It however does have its faults. Hasbro picked, out of two heads used on that mold, the one that is the most inaccurate. They also used the weakest jet mold i.m.o. The superior Air Raid and Sky Dive molds are only used one each in the mass retail waves.
>>
>>5801335
It doesn't look like cheetos and isn't grossly obese in arm mode. It also fits in better with the combat vehicles aesthetic of the Combaticons. Because lets face it, we're not getting attack space shuttles in the next 50 years

It fits in well with the rest of the Combaticons. It has good colors that really work on CW Bruticus. It manages to bring the Quickslinger head to mass retail, which I appreciate, even though it's inaccurate.

Also the pack-in bio gives a clever excuse for the jet mode, which is amusing.

Speaking of Fan Expo are you gonna line up for the Hasbro booth to buy their SDCC Fort Max if they have it there this year?

During TFcon last weekend there was this one chick was was really hot but she was with who I would assume is her boyfriend but every time I see her I could see the fat neck beards around ogle at her and leer at the guy.

People literally think that looking nothing like one of the combiner members means he "fits" better with the team.

Do you Reduners stop and listen to yourselves sometimes?

Brawl's official instructions are so weird. The boat-cycle thing has him riding while the jeep has him as a filler-brick.

Didn't we talk about this in the other thread? Plastic Cements don't really work for low surface areas like Vortex's port, what you need is the plastic weld since that literally melts the plastic so they do stick together structurally again.
>>
>>5801440
We did but I'm a different anon.

Plastic weld? I'll give that a try. Where can I buy it?

>>
>>5801457

>>
>>5801446
Plastic Weld is a much stronger solution than a plastic cement. Plastic weld is a liquid solution that actually evaporates if you just leave it there while a plastic cement leaves residue and is mostly in the form of a gel. I know since I own both for repairing stuff.

>>5801444
Ebay or Amazon.
>>
>>5801457
I'm fairly sure those are customs, not knockoffs
>>
>>5801457
The Generations Arcee? Just buy the Takara release since those should still be around their retail price and it's more cartoon/anime accurate.

That's the SIC manga realization one. Comes in a two pack with Raiden. Gaim is your standard SIC 8 inch-ish figure.

Oh, nice. That looks a lot better than the SHF actually.

I personally like the SIC more too. Surprisingly, the SIC has less die cast than the SHF, but the sculpt and paint on the SIC is so much nicer.

I think you mean to say that that particular brand is stronger than Tamiya's."Plastic Weld" is the brand name. "Plastic Welding" is the application. "Plastic Cement" is the general term for the product for this application. It even says "Plastic Solvent Cement" on the label of that bottle >>5801440

If so, I hope that anon knows what he's doing with this stronger solution. It's probably good to know if

It's weird, actually. It seems like nowadays, instead of mold degradation the remolds end up improving upon any problems the first use had. Optimus/Motormaster/Battle Core, Hot Spot/Onslaught/Pyra Magna, etc. Whether you like the way they look or not, they always get better as the line goes on.

onslaught which came after hotspot turned out to be better in a way, but it was the ones after him (the uw release, g2 and pyra magna) that suffered, even CW menasor suffered until a re-release and the uw release fixed the ratchets

Its hit and miss

From March this year. It was 3000 yen (was opened) and with shipping, it was just a bit past 50 Canuck dollarooneys.

>>5801505
I own both. The figuarts is more poseable but good luck getting it to stand with all that die cast and the loose die cast ankle joint.
>>
>>5801512
The tamiya's extra thin version is able seep into the crack to melt mating surfaces. The standard version is too thick for hairline cracks. >>5801440 sounds like it's thin too, idk.

If you do not apply clamping force, the joint will be uneven, resulting in another weak spot waiting to crack.
>>
>>5801518
His arms are loose as fuck like all the others and there is a tiny bit of a stress mark near where a metal nail is installed, but overall there isn't anything that would get in the way of enjoying the toy. It's probably true that his plastic isn't the best.

>>5801530
It's not just thin anon it is liquid based so they seep into cracks and shit. The regular plastic cement is gel based for the most part and is better used for stuff with bigger surface areas because it doesn't evaporate as fast as the liquid version but the one I posted is extremely potent if you get it working right. That Landcross I posted a few threads back had a missing broken piece that I managed to carve a new piece from a different plastic that reacts to the chemicals as well used it to repair the broken part with satisfying results. I'm just glad that toys after 1980's used plastics that reacted with solvents like those.

So I just scored mp g2 bumblebee from ebay for $35, plus 12 shipping.

Bootleg or official doesn't matter to me, rate my purchase, did I do good?

But all purchases I either watch cringe worthy reviewers online OR as I prefer I actually grab them off the shelf and give them the old eye, I didn't think tr galvatron was any good but in person he ain't so bad.

Shame the head is even worse in person and takara's version is just an expansive redeco, sentinel prime though was a pleasant surprise, seeing the toys I'm about to buy online gives me a better perspective and sometimes leads to surprises like old stock that I actually wanted

>>
>>5801666
>whoever wins is subjective
>doesn't see subtle differences
>head opinions are subjective

Take skullcruncher for example, on the takara one he has the decepticon logo on his chest, hasbro has that silver striping on his mid section instead.

The hasbro headmaster team has very minimal deco differences compared to the takara ones, who's biggest draw are the heads, admittedly I like the hasbro heads better to but some like chromedome have won me over, but alas I *must* keep my teams complete so I went full takara.

...that and they still aren't in my country yet so unless the teams drop off within 3 days takara will literally win my wallet, aside from galvatron, why pay so much for something that needs mods...or at all?
>>
>>5801670
Over in Australia here no one has any idea when anything is coming, some guy reported a manager at a chain called toyworld say TR was coming mid july (which is true, they got sentinel prime in yesterday at one branch but others have stocked up on TF movie 4 deluxes instead) but other stores of the same company (because they're franchised) and other retailers know nothing, their websites still use old information about products.

One stopped selling cw deluxes after the protectobot wave yet they're still on the website, just as not for sale.
