For those unfamiliar, "Plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model." If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here.

***GM Group Build***
Rules:
Pick an HG GM, and paint and customize it. For it to count as a GM, it literally just has to have GM in the name of the MS on the box, otherwise, no, it doesn't count. As far as customizing it, I'm going to place a limit on that. The limit is 50% additions to the kit.
To define 50%, look at it like this, you could take a GM Custom and replace the arms (including shoulders), legs, and backpack and I'd call that 50%. I'm not counting handheld bits in that. If you're unsure of something please ask in IRC, the thread, or email.
Due Date: 8/12
Submissions go to [email protected]
Submission format
Please submit photos in jpg via a compressed file (zip, rar, or 7zip), please don't link images to imgur or photobucket or the like. Please also name yourself, even if it's a pseudonym. Also indicate your participation in the contest below.
***Contest***
Instead of doing just a generic group build this time, there's going to be a prize pack. The prize pack will contain a GM Sniper K9, a set of glass paint mixing jars, and a Tamashii stand (sized for HGs or RDs). Shipping is at my expense.
Rules for the contest:
If you wish to enter the contest I'm going to actually need some proof. Please send me pictures of your kit as a work in progress and a final product with a timestamp and your email address. I hate to put his burden on you guys but this is the internet and people suck.
Judging
Regardless of who wins the contest proper, all entries will be made available on a blog post on Saturday, August 13th. Actual judging will take place Saturday as well, with the winner announced that evening. The winner will be contacted via email and be given a two day grace period for responding. PLEASE USE AN ACTIVE EMAIL WHEN SUBMITTING!

I wish this kit wasn't so expensive. I've been sitting on it for a while unable to justify the cost. I also wish the armor wasn't literally held on with squares of double stick tape...it's shit engineering on Bandai's part and I am unhappy with it.
Okay, so I have a clear part, and I want silver in back of it so it'll pop out. I have painted silver directly onto the back of clear pieces before, but it never shines quite as well as say, a metallic sticker. Is there such thing as a sticker where the sticky side is metallic too? Or like, some kind of super-shiny metallic or holographic foil that would adhere to the back of the piece?
>>5762926
>I have painted silver directly onto the back of clear pieces before
When you say "silver," are you aware that there are highly reflective paints (that tend to be labeled as such)? If you really want a shine, silver is the wrong paint to use.
>>5762917
I wonder how they can implement it without resorting to peg holes or grooves on the main body to hold on.
Which brings to mind how the thunderbolt FAG will fare. They can't possibly use the tape again right?
Literally impossible
So i have 3 titanium finish kits, the bb sazabi, the hg & mg sinanju. Is anyone interested to see someone try clean up the nubmarks with airbrush chrome to see if its possible? or strip the finish completely & start over? the bb & hg are kinda expendable to me, i just want the mg to come out good so i'll test on the smaller kits. And before anyone tells me how retarded titanium finish kits are to someone who paints, my gf got me the titanium MG sinanju, so i feel obligated to make it good.

BIG QUESTION
I HOPE THE ANON THAT ENTERS THE BLUEFIN GUNPLA CONTEST AT NYCC IS HERE
The guidelines say that entries need to be on the first day of the convention and picked up on the last day.
However, Thursday is the first day and nothing good ever happens on this day. I usually get a 3 day pass, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Does this mean I need to have someone else enter my entry on Thursday? I can't enter it on Friday?
How does this work? Friday or Thursday? I need to know asap.

>>5763463

>>5763438
It looks damn good when finished but is a nightmare to build and pose.
>>5763018
It's the ones they come with. Pink one comes with an extra gun.
Someone in the last thread asked me to post this when I finished it. Here you go anon.
My first garage kit be gentle.
Finally fixed up my Kimaris Trooper. This is my 2nd model kit... Is it the way I'm built it or is it normal for model kits to just pop off at the joints? The range of articulation is great, yet it does surprise me at how easily the arms pop off all the time, wondering if there's a quick fix to make the shoulder joint sockets slightly tighter/sturdier?
I'm a SIC and revoltech guy, bought the Kimaris Trooper because I just love the design. Reminds me a lot of Dunbine and this SD Gundam Knight that I used to have who could turn into a centaur. I practiced on a Hyakuren before building this. Maybe I'm just not used to model kits yet.
>>5763644
Looks pretty good, but I think without some wips/different angles people are not going to believe this is yours.
>>5763677
That's how the IBo kits are. If you top coat it it might tighten the joints.
>>5763451
I'm sure you can get old Billy doors and shelves used without much trouble. If people still get their cars from 1940 to run I'm sure you can solve your book shelf problem with Grey market parts.
>>5763693
Thanks, I'll try that. What do you suggest I use to top coat it? I've also just picked up the HG Gastima from G-Reco series, HG Galuss and Geara Zulu Guard type. Any opinions of those, what I should watch out for when building? I haven't watched any of these new shows, really literally just picking up kits of designs I really like.
>>5763716
I don't know about the kits but you can try YouTube on some reviews. For top coating use some Tamiya top coat or any from the Mr. Hobby series and use aligator clips to hold individual pieces. Don't take my word for granted though, cause I'm new. Do some research by yourshelf on plamo modelling. Google is your /m/ate.

b) double-sided tape bs, and
c) Gundam 2.0 a shit
>>5763830
I ordered myself a few.
Started on one tonight in fact.
Cast quality is easily some of the best I've ever seen. details are sharp, everything fits PERFECTLY.
Nude parts are a included too, but not something I'll be fitting on mine.
If theres interest here I'll post pics tomorrow. 4am here atm.
>>5763954
>>5763962
Looking at that it, the Spazz Stix seems to do a nice job (I wish their Holographic did as well but oh man the pigment bits are spread too far and thin and it's a Flat finish)
I've also had great results with the old standby of Alclad's lacquer chrome.
If lacquer's too strong for you tough, they also now have an enamel bright silver candy base that could work. There's also AK Interactive's Xtreme Metal chrome, it's okay.

>>5764261
It looks nice and clean at least, so it looks like your work paid off. Seems like it would have been a lot easier to mask it off and spray white primer then a finishing coat of white, but that's just me. Handbrushing is way too tedious and easy to fuck up IMO, unless it's only for very small areas.

What are those anyway? Given that old Lego are too damn expensive and hard to get those might be a really good alternative.

What kinds of bricks are you looking for? The standard 1x and 2x variety should be pretty easy to get for cheap, especially on Bricklink.

From 2x to the around 10x all single or double row + a green base.

Yes. It doesnt get affected by static so doesnt get magnetised and you can adjust it while still wet. Works just like waterslides.
>>5764764
Can you still use microsol and microset on them or do they still use adhesive to stick?
>>5764794
Still a sticker, so adhesive. It just makes it much easier to apply
>>5764839
>>5764764
Okay, different guy here...sorry to be annoying, but I need to confirm 100%, one last time: you put a sticker, like a normal sticky-backed one, into water, and this somehow helped adhesion? And it still sticks on like a normal sticker, with no additional glues or sealants or anything?
I just need to make absolutely sure before I ruin my sticker sheet, y'know?
Just test it out on a spare sticker first.
>>5764794
No, those are still for water decals.
Squeeze out the water underneath, the adhesive will still work.
>>5764855
The water makes the sticker slide around on the plastic instead of just sticking there, making positioning much easier. Just squeeze out the water underneath after you are done.
Rather than just sticking it on wrongly, pulling it back up and trying again, and by the time you are actually done it's already lost the adhesiveness or downright torn.
>>5764746

It's called Mr.Casting Block, same idea as lego but the sizes of blocks make it easy to calculate volume (so you know how much silicone to mix).

So I wanted to try my hand at kitbashing and picked Liu Li from School Shock as my first subject. Also because I have a buttload of yellow paint paint and bees.
Now, FA:G Materia would be a good base but I'm searching far and wide for a bee-themed mech or something with appropriate parts, do you guys know of any??
>>5764926
It depends on the size of your casts.
You should buy at least 1 pack of each of the 3 types (base, short and long blocks) and then you'll see if you need more.
Silicone doesn't bond to plastic, but it does seep in between blocks. If you don't want to spend time cleaning your molds afterwards, consider putting plastic wrap inside the block barrier.

Thanks.
>>5765100
>swords from Koto's no-scale TSF
I would really REALLY start with something simpler if I were you. Because of the shape of that sword, you are going to waste a lot of silicone on your first couple of failed attempts (speaking from personal experience here) and silicone ain't cheap.
Also, mold making is Serious Business (TM), it is not a matter of simply pushing master into clay. I spent like 2 hours sculpting the parting line in my last mold >>5762843.
>>5765139
>I would really REALLY start with something simpler if I were you.
What would you suggest starting with? Just smaller parts?
>>5765139
I've never recasted anything before, but maybe you should have flipped the sword vertically so the resin starts filling from the blade up, and added another entry channel at the red arrow

>>5765248

>>5765151
Yes, something small with simple geometry so that you can get a sense of how resin flows and where air gets trapped and how much work you are creating for yourself by not thinking ahead about where your channels will be and your parting line etc etc.
>>5765198
The problem with your suggestion is that there will be too many channels (you will also need to add at least 4 or 5 for the air to escape) and every channel is a nub and that gets multiplied by the number of copies you want to recast.
>>5762843 has only 4 nubs, 3 of them are on flat surfaces where they are really easy to clean and only 1 is on the blade.
>>5765271
How would you go about filling this mold with resin when you have both parts? Would you inject it?
>>5764589
It's standing outside in the summer with the air full of polen and other shit for photo purposes, believe me there is going to be some dust no matter what you do!
>>5765273
>Would you inject it?
What are you talking about? Black is the pour channel, gravity does the injecting.
>>5765278
Gravity pour alone can often be inefficient at getting a complete fill without air pockets. That's why I'm asking.
>>5765303
Yes, you could help it fill in faster by squirting your resin out of a syringe or something, but if you have places in your mold where air has nowhere to go, no amount of injection is going to help (unless you are injecting in a vacuum which is a whole different ballgame).
That said, from my experience if the mold is designed correctly low viscosity resin works just fine with gravity alone.

Never done a model with as much release agent as this one. Going to have to wash it before I paint it. I guess the old non-Gundam models Bandai put out just weren't up to par, plus a lot of the parts really don't fit really well. The finish is generally poor but I'll get it all fixed.

>>5765436
I don't polystyrene takes buffing too well. Top coating is a must
>>5765401
Fingerprints all over it even after washing my hands. It was smearing all over the plastic. Over the years it dries out and all that is left is like a thin sheet of oil. Soapy water removes it without agitation, I've had some Kotobukiya kits come with enough to fry french fries in but Bandai usually not so much. If you ever get a kit where you can smear a fingerprint across it with clean, dry hands, it's the release agent.

A lot of these joints are just plastic on plastic and the GN-X's wing binders are these tiny balls that peg into bare plastic holes, not even cup shaped really. And the legs will eventually fall out of the hips just by letting it stand with its legs apart a little.
>>5766627
They're designed well enough, they're just not well engineered in the tolerance department.
>>5766388
Do you have any sewing needles at home? If so you can punch (a little) the point where the line turns, so you will have a firm stop once the scriber reaches that point.
Be sure to start with light pressure, don't rush it.
So what's the easiest way to prime pieces? Like, is it better to prime each part individually or prime some parts individually and some parts put together (like a forearm or shoulder)?
>>5766658
prime every part 92 times.
>>5762355
I Put this in the wrong general like a smart motherfucker
Hey guys, new to /toy/ here, I'm interested in modeling, and I wanted to start actually doing it, I'm specifically interested in doing kitbash with angular mecha models like jesta's and tank parts and greebles. My question is, what's is a good starter model so I can work myself into what I want to do, and if anyone has any recommendations for starter airbrushes as I'd like to paint them like field camo'd tanks. Sorry if this is like covered Ina sticky or something
>>5766792
>Sorry if this is like covered Ina sticky or something
It mostly is, the ones who help themselves are the ones who receive the most help here. Welcome and feel free to ask about anything you don't understand in the guide or outside the guide.
I read through the guide sticky and see that G-Reco kits are not recommended.
I really like some of those designs, like the Gastima, Space Jahannam and Dahack, what should I be wary of if I were to attempt building them? Why are they regarded as bad/poorer quality?
Newbie here, I'm not planning to kitbash, I just want nice toys of these nice designs.
>>5766828
Pretty crappy articulation, lots of paint apps if you want anime accuracy, shit designs
>>5766792
Pick up a couple of IBO 1/144 kits and just start building them. Then pick your favourite bunch of tanks and start building them.
Familiarise yourself with your tools and putty/styrene sheets because you're going to use it a whole lot.
Watch some Paul budzik videos
>>5766835
>shit designs
Fuck off
Building this guy is kinda tiring...
I'll probs take a good long break after finishing this.
Need to clear out space and clear out some backlog by September before the Neo Zeong comes in.
>>5766843
Why should I? I'm not the one with terrible taste who'll start shitting up these threads with their shitty looking crappy gunpla from a dumbfuck floptastic shitty series with uninspired, shitty designs no one likes other than idiots with glaucoma.
>>5766828
>Gastima
>Dahack
These are fine, have lots of clear parts and very nice gimmicks. Also few stickers.
>Space Jahannam
Limited articulation and a few stickers for details, but very easy and fast build.
>>5766835
anon who asked here... wow ok... I didn't realize just asking about it would bring up so much hate. Point taken on "pretty crappy articulation" though.
>>5766854
thanks anon! I'll stick to Gastima and Dahack for now then. I was thinking of picking up the Gusion too after this, but seems like so far, people do like the IBO's build quality other than the shoulders that like to pop off, right?
>>5766856
Never built the Gusion, can't help with that. Sorry.
>>5766856
The Gusion is wonderful. Surprisingly flexible for such a chubby suit. I've never had the shoulders pop off on mine, either. Not sure what that's about, but I'd pick it up over the gastima and dahack.
>>5766861
Yeah. IBO doesn't have any sort of beam fuckery so it's a lot more gritty. If the story was told a bit better and if biscuit's death wasn't so obvious it'd be pretty high tier.
Although I can't understand the people who praise turn A and then turn around and criticize IBO for not having that many fights, especially with all the nonsensical stuff that happens in Turn A.
>>5766856
You know what's magical about IBO's kits?
The price.
Even HGUCs on clearance cost more than IBO stuff
>>5766813
>>5766839
Thanks for the help, found a lot of good info in the guide, one last question, anyone familiar with a goodplace to get tank greebles for models? Things like RPG armor, towing padeyes, that sort of thing? Maybe accessories for modern styled soldier action figures too? I know this may be outside of the scope of this thread
>>5766851
You're the obvious buttdevastated faggot here with your unfounded projection. What's the matter? All that fat is covering your eyes you cant even read that you spout bullshit 'muh company' autism bullshit when im not even mentioning other companies and just stating the fact that greco designs are complete and utter fucking garbage that belongs in a pile of shit shat by shit shat by even more shit.
Why dont you just fucking shut the fuck up with your bullshit and kill yourself, you fat loser weeaboo piece of useless, limp dicked waste of space.
This thing is the gold standard of resin kits as far as I'm concerned.
ZERO flashing or bubbles on the resin, all surfaces smooth as butter and everything fits together perfectly.
Oh and injected plastic joints and stand included too.
She also comes with nude chest and crotch pieces too, because reasons.
All I've done on this is trim the pour tabs and glue bits together.
I hope e2046 never get their hands on this, because they will fucking butcher it.
All I'm doing with this one is cleaning the nubs a little more and grey panel wash,
>>5766897
Guys, are there any documented problems with the RG Z'Gok? Mine seems to be having an issue. The knee bends just fine, but upon trying to straighten it, you can feel it kind of get stuck and then it tries to wrench the two halves of the calf armor apart. I've looked at it from all angles and can't figure out what's going on, has anyone else had this issue?
>>5766897
>>5766902
I'd buy that for a dollar
>>5766865
Word. I am stunned at how cheap they are and how good they are. In fact, the timing couldn't have been more perfect. I had a friend who was curious about getting into gunpla, so I was able to ease them in with some relatively cheap IBO kits.
How IS Bandai able to sell these for so cheap, anyway? I'd love to see this trend continue.
Fb or no?
>>5766934
Personally prefer vanilla over FB.
>>5766649
That seems very useful, I'll give it a shot if I can find some. I read that the needle can be used as a scribing tool also with a pin vice. Is that worth bothering with?
>>5767060
>with a pin vice
You can also use the handle you usually use for blades, unless it is the hollow type.
>>5766897
i think im gonna paint mine. love the blue/scheme too.
>>5767105
They'd look good painted like BGC hardsuits.
>>5767068
Well I have both and the pin vice seems easier than popping out my blade every time I want to do the technique.
>>5766876
Oftentimes the people using zimmerit have to sculpt it out of putty I think since normally it doesn't come in the right size for mecha.
Can anybody tell me that those are called?
Is the PG Mk.II worthwhile these days seeing as it's so dated? It's my favorite suit, but it's a lot of cash so I wanted to ask about it first. I kind want a huge Mk.II for my shelf, but if it sucks by modern standards I'll go with the MG 2.0 instead.
>>5767170
These are the new capsule toys thing that's fucking amazing.
>>5767105
Original base was kinda dull, made a new one.
>>5767177
PG MK2 is great. If you love the suit get it.
>>5766934
Why not both?
>>5767491
I am jealous of your laser and ability to craft acrylic designs as you please.
>>5766884
you poor thing. why are you so mad? someone out there likes greco designs and there is nothing you can do to change that yet you are so mad about it. you poor, poor thing.
>>5766099
>>5766109
You can also (carefully) hit it with Alclad's Black Chrome, use it over any non-black color and you end up with something very similar to that metallic or Special Finish coating that Bandai did a few times.
Or White Pearl, that might look nice.
>>5766897
>>5766902
*want intensifies*
>>5767491
Start selling lasercut things to people.
Nothing (too) custom, go limited mass production.
does any here knows where I cind buy the pieces for Kotobukiya's Grappler-class figure? I don't want to buy the kits containing it since the one that has the front half of the torso is sold out everywhere
So except from the FAGs are there any other mecha girl plamo kits out there???
Anon who wants to learn first time scratchbuilding, trying to work out an HG scale sword as a test. My styrene sheets just arrived along with Aves Epoxy Sculpt. The sheets are .020, .030, .040 and .060.
Does this diagram I badly drew look like a good way to do this? Which would be best to use?
>>5767155
Damn that sucks, thanks for the help.
Pic related is a really shitty picture of the kinda thing that I'm interested in
>>5767868
>plaplate
>prapratu
Its called a styrene sheet
>>5767914
I said in the post "my styrene sheets just arrived". Plaplate is a shorthand that's used around here also, they're interchangable.

>>5766884
Damn chill the fuck out, you're raging harder than Clement eng when he doesn't win his own little competitions
>>5766912
I recall hearing that they are cheaper because a lot of the same runners are reused for other units
>>5765252
The white on the trim near the handle does look nice anon, how did you get the white to come out so smooth using handbrushing?
Is Future the best way to tighten up joints? I'm trying to tighten a bunch of the connections on the MG Qan[T], like the fangs or bits or w/e connecting to the shield and the backpack.
Got my Jinrai in yesterday. While I work on the limbs I borrowed some parts from architect and regular frame arms Zenrai assault unit because a limbless robot girl was kind of creepy.
>>5768056
Lots of thin coats. Though Vallejo White is so thin out of the bottle I didn't thin it very much.
The white on the barrel probably looks like shit because I didn't mask it well enough and then a bit chipped off while I was trying to clean off the stuff that leaked onto the black part of the barrel. Because I was a dumbass and painted the black parts before the white parts.
I mean, its a HG, so it isn't as easy to notice when you're not looking at it from a camera lens 2 inches away, Should probably touch it up a bit somehow.
still working on this nerd
>>5768113
Let me just tell you now. If you can paint half as well as you can mod then we're currently looking at one of the top 3 winners in the us gbwc contest right now.
I regret telling you to do the online entry now damn you.
What's the better lacquer? Gaia notes or Mr Color? Gundamplanet has mr colors but the selection perpetually has some primary colors out of stock and gaia notes I can only find on ebay shipped from Taiwan. Is it even legal to get a large pack of lacquer paints shipped overseas to the US?
>>5768157
Licensed business can legally ship materials like that, regular individuals cannot.
>>5768162
I mean is it illegal for me to order it? Will my stuff be confiscated by US customs when they check it?
>>5768164
Yes you can order it. Its only illegal to ship it out yourself. FFS you can order big bottles of stuff like hydrochloric acid, bleach, and ammonia over Amazon. You think Customs is going to care you ordered some hobby paint? At worst they maybe open the box and check it before sending it off to you, and thats only a maybe.
>>5768174
>You think Customs is going to care you ordered some hobby paint?
Yes, and they'll show up at my house to rape my ass with their nightsticks
Translated Nouhin, only did gundam stuff because bandai prints too much shit and I can't be fucked translating One Piss kits
http://pastebin.com/eKMRamhB
Is there any way to get free replacement parts
>>5768223
Take your airbrush and paint a pentagram on the floor with red lacquer paint. Place the runner with the part you need replaced in the center, and place one $10 bill on each point. Light them on fire, spray lacquer thinner, the stronger the better, at 45 PSI at the runner, and speak aloud the incantation "Ego sum piger bum" ten times. The part will then reappear on the runner.
>sand the back of my gm's legs so much trying to remove the seams after filling them that I break the legs and a big hole opens up in the back of them
>try to patch it up and decide to prime the kit anyways to see how it looks
>other places where seams were apparent are invisible after priming them after I welded the seams
Uh
Okay, learned something new.
>>5768031
I know the feeling. Not pictured here, Jinrai.
>>5768162
>Licensed business can legally ship materials like that, regular individuals cannot.
I pity you then.
>>5767868
I cut out the sword pieces and am waiting overnight for the cement to finish curing. It seems ok for a first attempt. This was before I cut the second half out.
What do you guys use for wet sanding? These popsicle sticks are getting warped
>>5768305
I personally dip the sandpaper straight into the water, just cut a bit off the sheet. Lasts way longer than a popsicle stick, and for harder pressure you can fold it over itself. Sanding files works alright too, but obviously cut away much faster.
>>5768305
I do this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=606_x_KAo4I
If I'm careful, I can remove the spent paper without taking the tape with it, so I can easily cut out a new sheet and get back to sanding in no time.
>>5768113
Fucking gorgeous, man
MG Tallgeese 2/3 are getting reprints by the looks of it.
Tempted by a TG3 even though I know I won't touch the kit for years.
>>5765454
Is the release agent toxic?
What's the best way to clean release agent from gunpla without an ultrasonic cleaner?
>>5768584
Scrub in soapy water
>>5768465
I'd like to get all three versions of the Tallgeese.
>>5768284
I should have bought Build Burning on sale.

>>5768820
i took that screenshot 15 minutes after that post, but 4chan was shitting itself for the last 45 or so minutes. Are you incapable of understanding that?

4chan has been working fine, no need to lie anon. No one is judging you for being stupid. :^)
>>5768817
The old G Gundam kits are gone in a flash. They were probably bought five minutes later. It took me forever to snag one for myself, and that was ages ago.
I just noticed I missed a maxter while playing a video game, too. That one I don't have, at least in regular form.
>>5762394
what is that toothbrush for?
>>5762394
Is there an HG of the Rouei?
>>5769109
Why don't you take a guess?
Hint: It has to do with sanding.
Done the first stage of my Heavyarms mod. Gonna have to wait a day or two for the glue and putty inside to dry, then start working on filling in and smoothing out the corners and adding some surface detail.
>>5768584
bleach diluted with water 50/50
So what software do you guys use for painting your lineart???
Is there anywhere I can buy assorted Gundam decal sheets? Sometimes I wanna add more warning signs and squad numbers and shit.
>>5769344
Photoshop, because I'm familiar with it and it's easy for me. You can probably use a much simpler app though.
Does an1 have the lineart for that edgy barbatos that was black and red??? I want to make something similar.
>>5767839

He already does, that's why he has the lasercutter. He's quite popular with the Shinki general.

Yeah, like a Black and Red Gundam is original
I want to do a Jack-o themed paint job, what would be the best way to make a hanging halo? Just use a ductile metal rod and attach it to the head? Making a separate stand that let's it hang above the head?
>>5769453
you can try to attach it via 1/16th plastic rod. At least the transparency will hide it a bit. I'm making a qubeley display with deployed funnels and I'm using those to hold up all the funnels from the display base.
>>5769432
ofcourse it is anon, no one but me has thought of it. Why would you even suggest such a thing?
>>5769233
always make the box the lowest level you want to use, it's easier to build up than carve down
the legs are always a drag to complete
>>5769623
left leg is super loose no thanks to the sliding mechanism at the knee that makes it bend, it is REALLY annoying
I haven't painted anything in almost a year, but I finally decided to push myself back into painting.
Lesson remembered: Painting's time consuming.

I've been building these for nearly twenty years now. At first it started as just trying to snap these together as fast as I could back when I was eight. I soon found the selection was rather lacking and pricey at my local Toys'R'Us. I moved on to hobby shops and getting better stuff.
I tried painting a couple gets but I had had brushes and had paint and knew NOTHING. Your posts have inspired me to step up my game so thank you. I'll be using the guide to do the best I can. I'm not getting any younger and I want to really wow people with these.
>>5771677
My bed to projects. Doing the full armor first because it was a Value Village find for 7.99 USD. Some pieces are missing but I figure they are just from the cockpit shuttle. I'm looking for a manual pdf to match pieces but most spruces are still in plastic.
Anyone know where to get replacement joints for frame arms stuff, specifically these? As you can see the one on the left/bottom exploded when I took a leg off and put it back on and glue/adhesive isn't gonna work.
Also I could have swore I saw something about how older joints (these) had been replaced in newer models, is that true? These particular pieces feel like a shoddier more rubbery type of plastic then all the rest of the stuff, which is odd for a joint I'd hope they didn't plan on ripping apart with only the barest amount of force.
My first SAL parcel has arrived...
I am excite.
