Welcome to the LEGO General!

Lego General FAQ/Guide (you should read this before posting):
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1YVt-4sibEMFOU8H484MpB-K6rNla5SIYdHZG8lyCHLQ/edit?usp=sharing

Remember to take a whirl at one of these June challenges anons:
>Build a minifigure of a Star Wars character that doesn't already have one.
>Build a robot command centre. You figure out what it's supposed to be a robot or command them!
>Build something that's mostly Lego but uses some third party/off brand pieces.
>Build a brick-built wheelchair that looks better than the one in 60134.
>Build something based off of another anon's MOC.
>Fenimiminismninimism- Give your female figs something BADASS to ride around in! Bonus points for minidolls.
>Make a Fighting arena for your two most badass minifigs!
>Go to the Lego aisle at Walmart and startle someone
>Home Sweet Home - In honor of Captain Rex's AT-TE, rebuild a vehicle into a mobile home for your favorite figs.
>June Bride. Set up an impromptu wedding between your sig fig and another fig, or your waifig/husbafig and another. Bonus points for celebrity guests, full musical acts and ultimate points for treating her/him like a princess/prince with a "fairytale wedding" (fancier the better).

This is my full on duty roster of strippers so far. Need to add a couple more humans, maybe a couple more aliens (like whatever race greedo is, their females faces look like the males, so a torso swap should be enough.), also need to get a Hutt figure, luckily china is knocking them off and selling them for about $12.

Is it better to buy online from Walmart and get the best deals per dollar, or buy online from LEGO and accrue VIP points?
>>
>>5752424
Buying from LEGO for VIP points = 5% discount, effectively. If whatever store you're buying from offers more than a 5% discount versus MSRP, buy from the other store. Double VIP point periods = 10%.

For this reason, I will always buy Toys R Us exclusives from Lego, because even MSRP is cheaper than Toys R Us, and 5%/10% off that isn't bad.

Not funny
>Be me
>Wandering Lego aisle at TRU contemplating what to buy
>Woman comes in, maybe 40s or 50s with large autistic son
>I know he's autistic because mom introduces herself and her son to me
>Son spends the entire sitting on the floor playing with these glowing race car pencil toppers or something, don't remember what they were
>Mom and I make small talk and she says Lego are good for her son
>Polite enough, conversation obviously dying so I start walking away
>She continues after me
>Conversation lulls again and we play cat and mouse a few more times
>Can't even lose her when i leave the lego section to look at nerf guns or video games
>Her son hadn't followed her and it probably still up front not being interested in any of the lego sets

Not especially funny because I think she just wanted someone to talk to. That's basically the only noteworthy story about Lego I have, though. The others are lego store employees helping me find minifigure or TRU employees making small talk while i stood at the front desk molesting blindbags

Arealight customs for the trans clear torso and head. The arms and legs are from some trans clear "blanks" I got off aliexpress.

Problem for anyone that wants these is this. As far as I know I bought the last two sets of PRINTED trans clear twi'lek parts the guy has. He had two heads and torsos with printing listed on his bricklink store, and on his regular website, he doesnt list the printed ones anymore, just blank trans clear one. Those might make the holo-dancer more realistic for some, but I personally like some printing on them.

Not him but I've noticed over the years that there's a type of 4chan user who despises anyone who is not completely anonymous. Like anyone who has an identifiable schtick. Klocki guy, MRA guy, LegoQuest guy, Just2Good or the other eurobricks posters etc. will draw hate for one reason or another.

The guy may have other superficial reasons for hating but the main reason IMO is he doesn't like that you're the least bit identifiable.

Ive been saying the same thing about all the hate ive gotten since I started in these threads. It has to be three, maybe four randoms doing it just to be assholes.

Yeah, I used my hulkbuster pics a little too much early on, but they are reaction pics. Its what they are for. After all the shit storms started I stopped using them, and most of the other hulkbuster pics ive posted were new shit (like the mech dance off thread a few generals ago. That was fun with no one talking shit or derailing the thread, at least until later on that night anyways.). I dont use a trip or a name, the closest thing to a "schtick" that anyone could claim I have is my fucked up desk texture, but its not like im doing that on purpose.

Honestly, sometimes the random vitriol and hate that gets thrown at me gets grating after a while, and I feel even worse whenever I see other anons getting trolled into the ground by the three or four people that I am pretty sure are the ones doing it. This is definitely a board that would do better with post IDs for sure.

Does anyone know if it's possible Lego could do Warcraft Dimensions?

I know Mega Bloks discontinued the Warcraft theme but does anyone know when their licence runs out?
>>
>>5753565
There's a rumor that Blizzard originally went to Lego to try and get a construction toyline, but they apparently made demands that Lego didn't jive with. Blizzard then went to Mega, and Lego created Chima with some of the ideas they generated while discussing Warcraft with Blizz.
>>
>>5753582
Thanks for the response, I have heard of them not agreeing with lego, I still think it would be amazing if they could work something out, i'd love battlepacks of each race or a scourge battlepack or something it would be a dream come true, I did get that vibe about Chima, loved the idea of all these different tribes fighting and 'outlands(Burning Crusade)' then the ice tribes(Wrath of the lich king) and I guess fire tribes as well could represent a bit of Cata, shame Chima had to end I liked it.
>>
>>5753593
To give you my opinion, I don't think they'll be bringing it in for Dimensions, in any case. It doesn't have the mass market appeal that half of the Dimensions properties have, nor the parental nostalgia that the other half provides.

It also doesn't have any representation in Ideas, which seems to be where the game devs look for licenses (ie. Portal, Doctor Who, Wizard of Oz, Adventure Time, Ghostbusters, and The Goonies all had Ideas projects that reached 10,000 support).
>>
>>5753264
As long as people continue to use up image slots on pictures of blushing anime girls, any complaints about ruining the thread by reposting Lego photos will probably be dismissed.

Do I wish Hulkbusterguy would post more original photos? Yes.
Do I wish Hulkbuster guy would buy a second lightbulb, or at least a shade for his current bare lightbulb? Yes.
Do I get upset when Hulkbuster guy posts a picture of power armor flipping the bird? No, because that would be a silly waste of useful negativity.

I also wish that those damn muffintop torsos he got weren't muffintops, because they look really nice and I really want some variant Jabbbikini colors.

Well firstly i really like how the playfunction is integrated. Normally i'm not a fan of those since they tend to stick out and detract from the overall asthetic, but i feel like with this particular set they struck a nice balance between functions and look.
Secondly i feel like the minifigure selection is pretty good (though i'm biased because the two stone warriors are actually my first ones) and thirdly it's a great parts pack (with pieces i didn't even know were still produced)

>Dino Attack (Dino 2010 in Europe) was a theme released in 2005. Each set included futuristic vehicles fighting against mutant dinosaurs.

>In the year 2010, strange mutant dinosaurs appear, and Shadow, Digger, Specs, and Viper must stop the dinos before it's too late! But these dinosaurs have abilities beyond what Digger thinks. Will the Dino Attack team stop the dinos? Or will earth be destroyed? To stop them, the members of the Dino Attack Team must destroy all of the dinosaurs.

>The Dino 2010 sets are slightly different from the Dino Attack counterparts. These sets take place after the previous sets mentioned, and are identical but instead of large weapons the sets are given grappling hooks and large cages for capturing mutant dinosaurs. The location also seems to have been changed from a ruined city to a deep jungle. This theme is closer to Dino Island than Dino Attack is, because of the locations and they capture the dinosaurs instead of killing them. Dino 2010 characters appear on My LEGO Network. These sets were only released in Europe, while Dino Attack was in North America and Australia.

What was the reason for making two mostly-identical themes at the same time? Was it just a nogunz marketing decision, or was there something more intricate that necessitated a split?

Review Time!

This is the guy who has that huge backlog, finally opened up one of the sets and got to work.

Today I built 75150: Vader's TIE Advanced vs. A-wing Starfighter

This is one that I've been wanting to build for s long time, pretty much since I initially saw the leaked product image.

I'm not going to talk much about the A-Wing in this review but I will say that they have implemented some interesting ways of firing the bolts. Though I am very dissapointed with how loose the rear engines / wings are on this set.

Now, Darth Vader's Tie figher is a different story. Much better than the one I have from 7152: TIE Fighter & Y-wing.

This version of the Tie Fighter is sligntly smaller than 7152. It's not a huge difference though. The build is very parts dense so not only does that give it some of that needed extra details, but it also makes it much sturdier in design than it's previous iteration. The extra parts also give it a bit of weight, this is it's main issue, the weight of the build is too much for the wings to support it without warping. This can be fixed by putting a plate on the Bracket 1 x 2 - 2 x 2. This prevents the bottom wings from closing in too far when the model is resting. Though there is still a bit of bending where the wings attach to the body. I have not found a way to fix this issue yet.

The figs selection is pretty great too. I now have the new version of Vader with the two part helmet, and now I have Tarkin as well. Too bad he's not in his gray uniform...

6207: A-wing Fighter vs 75150: Vader's TIE Advanced vs. A-wing Starfighter
4500: Rebel Snowspeeder vs 75049: Snowspeeder

>How thick are those double sided ones on the lower left? Half a plate? A third of a plate?

about this thick. Tyco measurements are odd, their plates are 1 1/2 thickness of the Lego plates, or one Lego plate+baseplate.
>>

Yup, and ebay. I bought some Tyco Military lot, 2-3 sets mixed together, including a bunch of these connectors.
>>
>>5755254
Man, why don't one of the third party parts makers produce stuff like that, instead of just knock-off brands?
>>
>>5755267
AfOLs are too small of a market for bootleggers to produce and market pieces like that. Printing tits on KO minifig torsos is a lot more cost effective. Kids just want cheap Nexo sets.
>>
Are the studs on baseplates different than "normal" ones?

I have one minifig that stays pretty loose on a baseplate, but if I put it on a CMF plate, it's on it much firmly.
>>
>>5755254
>>5755267
Honestly, I'd say that give it 5 or so years and Lego is producing those.

They've been making some interesting new pieces lately (those new pin-axles and such), and stuff like that isn't too far-fetched as far as connectivity goes
>>
>>5755285
Yes, the studs on baseplates have more rounded edges. I can post some pics later.
>>
>>5755288
I'd imagine those parts are somewhere on their to-do list, but they're probably struggling to make them as solid as they want.
>>

This has some good advice specifically for taking pictures of minifig-scale stuff. Also, if you know how to change your camera setting to Manual capturing mode, you can lower the ISO, which will make your images a lot less grainy.

You can't see it very well, but the non-baseplate studs feel like their edges are a lot sharper than the baseplate studs. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that baseplates are produced by an outside company and not TLG.

Hey, /lego/, any themes you want to see get Lego Dimensions sets? Particularly non-licensed ones; they're seriously underrepresented.
Nexo Knights are a shoe-in for one of next year's themes. I'd like Lego Island to get one, just so we can get a decent Pepper and a new Brickster.
I really want Johnny Thunder/Adventurers representation, especially since he only got a one second cameo in the Lego Movie. Agents/Ultra Agents/Alpha Team would be cool, and maybe they could do Bionicle using those Hero Factory minifigs.

I don't have much spare Lego, I keep most of my sets in glass cases at my office. However, I'd like to explore designing and making MOCs. I use Bricklink and LDD, but I'd like some ideas on what sets would provide good pieces for a Feudal Japanese styled (Samurai + Ninjas etc). I'll make the minifigs by using CMFs (Samurai, Geisha, Sumo), but I need some ideas on sets which would provide me with a good pallet for oriental buildings/landscapes.

Everything I've bought so far has been MegaBloks at worst, most equal to Lego, and some even better.
I recently got this thing and the only problems i have with it are the 3-piece non-brick missile launcher and the fig's left leg is loose, other than that the material and color quality is equal to lego, clutch is just slightly tighter (a positive for me), it's got some really useful pieces I'm fairly certain Lego doesn't make, and has really nice colors.

anon with the big angled thing. Finally back to my parts, sorted for a while and pulled out all my grey plates I have left to finish this thing.

Quickly realised I didnt have enough, this is after cannibalising my Millennium Falcon.
The temptation to tear the SSD and ATAT behind pic related is too much.

If they're a unique idea with regular minifigs, and the quality is comparable, then I'll buy them.

Megabloks is out because of the minfigs. What am I supposed to do with them?

Minifigs by themselves like Decool/Sheng Yuan are dependent on if the character can't be bought in Lego or if it's too rare and expensive for it to be economical, and also on the quality.

I had to use random colours in some places, to fill the gaps left by running out of/not having the right brown piece, so I obviusly want to replace those.
I also want to get a blue 16x32 base plate and use that as the river, extending the little jetty/dock out and up.

love it, reminds me of the hut my family visits every year , it's not really near a river, but it's on the side of a mountain.

really comfy place, no cars, no traffic, you see the world before you,the villages frist, then the cities far far away, you can chill in the evening grilling a sausage on open fire and watch the sunset.

what a comfy feel.

Useless pieces time?
What are you supposed to do with these aside from spiral stairs? They have absolutely no usable connection points. I don't think I've ever seen a MOC that makes clever use of them. Feel free to correct me.

I'm only really interested in AT-ST, and even then I think the old one looks a bit better.

I think that old TIE you have is actually from 7262, not 7152.

7152 was a 2002 rerelease of 7150 from 1999 with no changes.

7262 was kind of a rerelease in 2004, but a little bit different. The Y-wing was the 1999/2002 version, but in bley. The TIE was the one released later that year in 10131 TIE Collection.

Not that this has anything to do with your review, which you did a great job with.

>>5755545
The 2009 DV TIE was the second-to-last (before the 2010 Defender) to use the old square cockpit piece. Just going from the square to a new round piece is enough of an improvement, at least IMO, to make it worthwhile.

>>5754767
> Looking forward for the release of 75153 AT-ST to replace 7657 AT-ST.

After 16 years, Lego may finally get the AT-ST right.

>7264: Imperial Inspection vs 75094: Imperial Shuttle Tydirium

Blows it out of the water. 7264 was a new version of 7166 (from 2001!) in bley with new minifigs. It uses the typical plates-and-bricks construction of early SW sets, and the wings can't go down all the way. Building 75094 was some of the most fun I'd had with Lego in a long time.

>4500: Rebel Snowspeeder vs 75049: Snowspeeder

It's the same one. Okay, not completely, but every single Snowspeeder in the last 10 years has used the 2004 (4500) design with only minor changes.

I live in Canada and there aren't any Uniqlo here

But I think you might be wrong.
While searching the web for the shirts, I saw lots of articles from March about the shirts.
They're also sold out/ not listed on a lot of the different country online shops which means they've probably been out for a while and are almost sold out.

Noticed that they were on sale too.
