Remembert to whirl the wheel at one of these June challenges anons:
>Build a minifigure of a Star Wars character that doesn't already have one.
>Build a robot command centre. You figure out what it's supposed to be a robot or command them!
>Build something that's mostly Lego but uses some third party/off brand pieces.
>Build a brick-built wheelchair that looks better than the one in 60134.
>Build something based off of another anon's MOC.
>Fenimiminismninimism- Give your female figs something BADASS to ride around in! Bonus points for minidolls.
>Make a Fighting arena for your two most badass minifigs!
>Go to the Lego aisle at Walmart and startle someone
>Home Sweet Home - In honor of Captain Rex's AT-TE, rebuild a vehicle into a mobile home for your favorite figs.
>June Bride. Set up an impromptu wedding between your sig fig and another fig, or your waifig/husbafig and another. Bonus points for celebrity guests, full musical acts and ultimate points for treating her/him like a princess/prince with a "fairytale wedding" (fancier the better).

> EXPERIMENT
Try things! You can do this with actual parts or in LDD, either is fine.

> COPY, CHEAT, N' STEAL
Learn like an artist: from the pros! This doesn't mean completely imitating what they do, this means looking at what they do, analyzing it, -understanding- what's being done, and then making use of this knowledge in one's own work. Don't trace, draw!

Also see "reverse engineering", that is, trying to imitate a build as closely as possible to gain the aforementioned understanding of the techniques used in its construction.

> WING IT
Who cares? Go wild like TLG wants you to.
>>
>>5737900
Pretty great, anon. Ingenious use of the backpacks to get the slopes to line up perfect.
>>

There's links to helpful websites in the googledocs in the op.

>>
>>5737911
I pity you.

>>
>>5737916
n-no
>>
>>5737911
What do you mean you tried all that? Those exercises aren't something you try once then decide it's not worth the time any more. You won't become a master builder overnight and if you're not willing to put in the effort then you deserve to forever wallow in your self-pity and mediocrity.
>>
>>5737916
Is that a reason people sell their bricks? They're not creative enough?

Is that what they actually mean when they write "need more space" or "the wife is upset"?
>>
>>5737935
"I need more space[ for other hobbies I'm good at]."
"The wife is upset[ that I can't satisfy her building needs]."
>>
>>5737924
>guys, should I quit :(
>if you're gonna then give someone that plastic crack
>noooo ;_;

Now lookahere. I posted >>5737916 because if you're not gonna try then you deserve to lose it all, but >>5737927 is right in his assessment. Exercises, both with building and drawing, aren't things you try once and then drop, and similarly they aren't things you stop doing. You practice and acknowledge your mistakes, and you study and learn. If you're gonna say "I tried and failed" then the answer to your question will obviously be to give your bricks to someone who can make use of them.

Same deal with drawing. You hate what you make? Welcome to the club. This shit is common.

Idea- give her some oversize pigtails with bows, those "ears" are begging for it.

If you need an alternative, a cheese slope with appropriate "hair" could do. The head you have now could also be very receptive to a medley of the 1x2 roof slopes, which'd make slightly bigger faces, but faces nonetheless.
>>
>>5738014
Was going to try a bob-cut, but I'll see if u can make pigtail addons. I'm really not sure what to do for eyes. Single eye, or two, or a visor of some sort?

If i can* sorry, on mobile
>>
>>5738019
Most of the time when people go for the tooth piece they treat it like it's the entirety of the face, with the stud being covered by the hair.

Most of the time I don't worry about eyes, simple or eyeless faces are enough. Alternatively, you could go for a Letranger Absurde type face which would immediately be recognizable and still have features, but that'd be a tad harder to integrate with your current neck assembly.

Campers are okay too. I like campers.

I only just got back into the bricks myself and most of what I've bought so far has been plain ol' City vehicles to combine with my handful of old parts I have on hand and lack of space/tripod, because vehicles are the #1 thing I've always built out of Lego and holy cow I would have killed to have most of these pieces back when I was a kid. Trans-brown 6x3 windshields? My dick has never been harder.

Would have liked to have gotten back in a bit earlier to get the snow plow and camper van, but hey, better late than never, right?

Has anyone actually managed to build a legitimate (as in not crappy bootleg) army of clones in a single era of lego? I only ask because looking at my mishmash of clone troopers from different lines which are all a little different is threatening to trigger my autism.
>>
>>5738688
Are you asking which style of Clone Trooper has been most abundant in sets?
>>
>>5738691
I guess so, but also does anyone have tips on how to unify them?

I've been swapping torsos, so the clone wars ones have the old phase 3 chests, and generally been avoiding using the phase 3 helmets, but after recently picking up the LAAT/i microfighter with the new helmet print clone pilot I can't help but feel that now my 2 LAAT/i pilots don't match...

This one, right? Apparently he's only ever been in the Microfighter set. Unless you're cool with purchasing multiples of that Microfighter, maybe put him aside for now.

After doing some Brickset digging, it looks like the most abundant version of Phase I trooper is indeed the Clone Wars version, with at least fourteen specimens of the vanilla design, five who simply have armor parts on, and a dozen color varieties. If you have a lot of those, it should be simple enough to keep them as is.

If you wanted help in reorganizing the clones you already have, maybe you should share pics.

>>5738706
It's actually this one. I have got a lot of Clone Wars troopers, simply because I really like the Phase I armour. And as I said, I've had some success mixing and matching torsos between clones.

Really a lot of this has come about because I've been wanting to start or at least work towards building a Republic Cruiser hanger/interior, just something to actually bring my army/collection together. I might just split helmet designs into Phase 1 on the LAAT/i, and phase 2 on the AT-TE/elsewhere. Since I have roughly enough phase 1 clone wars variants to fill my gunship.
>>
>>5738717
I only have one for me that I opened. All the rest are for giveaways.

If you're thinking that I screwed a bunch of kids out of their minifigs, it seems like I'm the only one in the region who's interested in them, because I was still finding full boxes of S12s long after Series 14 had come out. I even helped a few kids find their own spoopies when I was looking for other figs.

Eventually it just got to the point where whenever I was at Target I would just grab a couple of SGs for the giveaway pile because the boxes didn't seem to be emptying. It was only around March that I finally stopped seeing S12s.

Right now they're still drowning in the Halloween wave.

Trying to reverse engineer stuff we see on lego games has always been a pointless effort to me because of that.

Lots of custom parts, some of them bend or connect in ways they're not supposed to be, and don't get me started on the part colors.

Unfortunately the Movie also fell on this a lot of times.

I like how everyone's favorite Lego Movie fact is some variation of "You can buy all the Lego pieces you see in the movie! They are all real!"
>>
>>5738816
Nope, the only part I know that isn't real is the big ass wheel on Wyldstyle's orange bike. In the real set they used a 32 tooth gear, but in the movie it looks like a 64+ tooth gear.

There were also various parts from Metalbeard's body that don't actually exist. I remember some people here tried to replicate the model based on the early screener recordings of the movie back when i came out.

Well, if you want a buttload of white bricks, then sure.

Other than that, there's the Classic-buckets but those can be a bit limited in variety, there's Bricklink and PAB walls if you want some random bobs, or you could just buy a set you like and mess around with it. 3-in-1 Creator sets are great for this. Just don't buy something that has like 3 different cars or planes. Go for variety.

Two on the right is actually the same guy, left is his flight suit and right his casual attire. A master engineer and great pilot and also a wanted criminal in several systems.

Then we have the warrior alien, a really fierce temperament but still looks after his buddies.

Then we have the Space Cyclops, the muscle of the team. She wields a lasersledge that can also shoot lasers from its tip (but she has terrible aim due to lack of depth perception)

Last is just the generic space orc marine, but I gave him some Ice Planet-inspired attire

Hopefully they'll bring out new versions of them in X years like they usually do (i.e. old campervan to new campervan, Car + Camper to Minivan + Camper, the two garbage trucks, etc), but this time the old designs were definitely better and I doubt they'll be making a new snow truck period, especially a Unimog styled one.

Finally, here are all the extra pieces. I like how Lego seems to make sure that if a skeleton arm or leg is used in a set, you always get a second one. I don't know if it's just to ensure proper weight, but I like to think they're looking out for people who want to use them for skeletons.

All in all, this is a rock-solid set and if you're looking to pad out your minifig population or if you just want a fun purchase, I definitely recommend it. My only complaint is that the designers didn't include a second hot dog bun, but that's pretty minor.

Yes. A few years ago Lego put out several sets of five iconic minifigs from different lines per box (one box might have a City, a Space, a Castle, a Pirate, and another Castle, etc.). They had the same printings as the originals, but cleaned up and done with modern equipment.

I haven't touched lego in years because of this, and I'm thinking of getting the Architecture Studio set just so I don't have to get mad every time. What do I do?

If attempting to organize the old bricks is giving you these emotional responses, just give them all to your stupid brother and start buying newer sets.

Architecture Studio is a good set to start experimenting with building builds. The organizer tray it comes with is also a good way to start organizing your parts.
>>
>>5742218
Woah, cool. Can you post scans? I love seeing Dan Veesenmeyer's art in those things.
>>
>>5742219
The emotional responses are invoked when I just look at them, and I feel the need to NOT organize because something tells me I can rebuild it all, but I know I probably won't. I might do what you suggested and just start buying newer sets.

Try and focus on the good memories you had with your Lego builds. The parts that were from your favorite sets. Maybe about a place you took your toys to, or something you did to deserve getting them when you were small. Look at all the happy faces in your tub of Lego memories.

Sad thing is I would love to have an actual Hutt in it as well as Max Reebo and his band, but those figs are so expensive....I have noticed that china is doing Jabba knockoffs now, so the hutt fig shouldnt be too bad, but Max.....ugh.

G2 looks like trash. Gappy builds with ugly technic pieces showing everywhere, godawful proportions, new molds that are way too damn busy clashing with the old ccbs parts, every wave after the first has just been a decline in quality, you're just delusional if you think it's any good. I wanted to like it but Lego really shit the bed with that theme.

Here's a set Lego didn't shit the bed with, arguably the greatest set of the Hero theme imo. $13 and you get a small vehicle which is bretty good, a new army builder minifig, a new variant of Spidey, and classic Carnage(who is my favorite minifig). I wish more sets had this kind of fantastic value.

Did anything in my post imply I like G1 more? I barely even owned any G1 sets save Brutaka and some other titans, shit I probably had more Hero Factory sets. I went into the newest series pretty blind and hopeful.

But you pointing out the flaws in the old theme doesn't disprove what I said about G2. G1 sets being clumsy and lanky in a lot of cases doesn't excuse G2 for looking like shit. If anything it means the sets should be a vast improvement.
