Could be better, but at least it aint as bad as Tidal Wave legs
>>5728119
alot of UT toys suffered from odd proportions like that.
the worst one is Brakedown, who's elbow is literally on top of his wrist. Might as well not give him an elbow at that point...
>>5728122
Hasbro/Takara basically threw away all engineering they had since the end of g2 in the name of pandering to dumb American kids, unfortunately. Its like they had to learn everything from scratch from Armada onward. I imagine if dumb parents hadn't complained and armada has the engineering of RiD.
>>5728126
No thanks, Armada had good engineering compared to RID. The only good molds in that line were the redecos from G1, G2, and Beast Wars.
>>5728126
>since the end of G2
lol wut. Beast Wars was literally the prototype of the sort of articulation we have today. Yeah you can blame retarded parents with thier mouthbreather future Walmart Greeter children for some shit, but BW was at least them trying and laid the groundwork for a lot of shit today that we take for granted.
>>5728115
>I got this bad boy the other day for $135. Did I do good?
I had to pay twice that much to get him. you did very well, anon (Though I'm sure CW/UW Bruticus are a better deal?).
>>5728115
>not Warbotron
You done goofed
Pre-ordered a Groove from Scramblecore when the initial wave of pre-orders went up. It now says Groove is due in October on the store page. Does this mean I'm not gonna get that shit for 4 months?
>>5728138
Please tell me you got him used, not new
because I would be very, very jelly if new
>>5728143
warbotron is too G1 for my tastes
>>5728153
hm? he was new. I pre-ordered the United Bruticus set and the FP Upgrade that followed. It's not a sweet deal anon, dont be jelly!
>>5728133
Late G2 stuff started using Balljoints and emphasizing things like waist and elbow articulation even beyond necessary transformation joints. things like the Cyberjets, Laserrods, and Combat Hero subgroups. Naturally the same designers for those worked on Beast wars, and continued on using those and increased the universalness of articulation with those figures.
>>5728155
if you say so
I got C3 like 2 years ago
He's my very first 3rd party toy
Vangelus's video hooked me in real good
>>5728138
There's the new CW one.
You could have paid half of that if you go Hasbro.
so no.
>>5728131
>Armada had good engineering compared to RID. The only good molds in that line were the redecos from G1, G2, and Beast Wars.
You think Armada Optimus is a better toy than Fire Convoy? Someone rode the special bus as a kid.
>>5728156
i respect Takara's designers as they pretty much started using more articulation (It was a Takara guy who made the Cyberjets)
also, i still find it crazy that most Takara designers have stuck around since the early days (The guy who made Sixshot is still there), since Hasbro's line up changes sporadically
>>5728165
i think he might trolling anon. This is literally the first time I've seen someone talk shit about the new molds in RID
>>5728131
0/10
Low quality bait.
>>5728163
well... i bought it a long time ago anon, CW wasnt a thing
>>5728115
You got 3 horrifically dated figures and 2 pretty dated 3P figures..but still its one fucking awesome fucking mode.
Maybe it sounds like I'm being harsh, but I have a weakness for combining figures over ones that don't even if the individual bots are mediocre or crappy. Like, I have the SRC Power rangers Megazord, but it feels less special since it has no combining feature. Where as the Legacy Megazord is kinda crappy but the combining gimmick makes it feel more like a complete figure. So in that regard I like that bruticus even if the team members aren't as good as the newer ones.
>>5728170
>>G2
>>waist joints
All the Laser Rods have waist joints, even Laser Optimus had one despite not using a rubber band joint
>>5728168
There's always some faggot crying about those molds.
>"BAWWW Side Burn is too hard to transform", excedrin, excedrin
>>5728170
Laser Optimus has a waist joint despite not needing it to transform.
Interesting thing I saw pointed out; Ultra Optimus Primal shares a lot of his colors with Laser Optimus. so when they where designing BW as a continuation of g2, they might've considered Black/Red/white/grey to be Optimus' colors from then on.
>>5728167
Maybe they don't have the same fucked up business culture that we do, where the only way to get a raise or a chance to make any decisions is to leave.
So, how will Hasbrofags sour grape over this one?
>>5728180
I was a weird kid so I spent time on TF forums as a 10 year old. I saw all the people complaining about Sideburn and it drove me nuts. He was,and still is, the pinnacle of deluxe Transformers to me; only maybe UnitedJazz or Battle blade Bumblebee come close. Amazingly accurate vehicle mode with a ton of paint, and slavish articulation on par with Marvel Legends. Can't believe we gave that up for fucking armada Hot Shot.
>>5728189
They won't care unless they are fans of the anime, in which case the japanese toy of the japanese show should be the best option anyway.
>>5728189
>blobs: the picture
Superior, my ass. Can't even take a good picture.
>>5728191
Is he really that good? I must admit that the Universe repaint looks really sexy.
>>5728189
I thought there would be hollow arms.
>>5728145
Can you cancel your order? If so, keep a watch on Amazon, Groove keeps popping up there in batches for MSRP. If you manage to snag one there, then cancel your order.
>>5728202
>hollow arms
>on Takara product
Silly American. Only Blitzwing and Galvatron we don't care about. Ginrai #1 hero!
>>5728167
>also, i still find it crazy that most Takara designers have stuck around since the early days (The guy who made Sixshot is still there), since Hasbro's line up changes sporadically
I think that's why we get things like BW MPs and love letters to relatively niche eras like MP Star saber. Takara designers all have fond memories of those lines and keep their memories alive, or are itching to revisit their earlier works and redo them. Optimus Primal gets a figure from takara every few years, even if its just a redeco.
Where as on out end someone like John Warden comes in fairly recently and avoided most of the 90's, regarding Beast wars as the "dark ages" of the line.I'm not going to give him any grief on that, because he basically approaches TFs the same way he reinvigorated the GI Joe line; basically taking things back to basics and homaging the 80's material. but doing that also gives him a different perspective from Takara's team.
>>5728199
Photography was prohibited during the presentation, that one was shoot from far away.
>>5728184
Nah, Japanese business culture is a clusterfuck of unpaid 15 hour work days and other bullshit. You gotta sacrifice everything for the company or you are seen as useless shit.
However, if you get into a position of power, you'll probably never be let go because you can be free to basically run the company into the ground.
tl;dr It's just as bad, just in different ways.
>>5728189
Ginrai is the granddaddy of brave series robots
No way Takara would give him the shitty treatment like PMOP got from Hasbro
>>5728201
Personally, I think so, but your mileage may vary. He's basically a vestigial design that is unlike anything we got since then. He reminds me a lot of some newer Macross stuff, actually, where certain bits just hang freely. Its an aesthetic I like, but may vary for you. If you can get him cheap he's worth it for the vehicle mode alone.
>>5728208
And MP Tracks, MP Bee, Hardhead, Blurr and pretty much every othe deluxe sized toy.
>>5728189
Need to see real pictures of him first. Also, waiting on the IF Legends-sized Prime.
>>5728181
Still one of the best Transformer molds.
>>5728236
Its a breeze. The RiD toys are only complex compared to then-contemporary stuff. at the time BW Megatron came out, that was a complex toy. Now even the hardest toy from that era in relatively simple.
>>5728237
>>5728241
Don't worry, he'll get a new update soon!
Cheetor is everything I could have dreamed and more, I'll never ask for anything again.
>>5728236
Sideburn just really has clearance issues (it's hard to get part A past part B), the ROTF twins have annoying panels that are hard to keep pegged together in addition to lesser clearance issues.
I don't have them both in front of me, but I would prefer to transform Sideburn any day from memory.
>>5728243
>people think this is going to be remolded into Octane
Can't wait until he's redeco'd as Nemesis Prime. I don't have one yet.
>>5728247
Don't taunt the Monkey's Paw anon.
>>5728243
So bland. I guess that's where Takara comes in.
>>5728257
I'd say octane is still more likely, all depends on the third altmode.
>>5728260
But it has more colors on it in more quantities than the original Laser Prime.
>>5728257
they are going to do all the triple changers except springer and sandstorm by the time this line ends
>>5728267
But Nemesis is the cheapest possible option. Not a single bit would require remolding, just casting the figure in black/grey and adding some red/blue paint here or there.
>>5728247
Will they have a way for the beast mode to have green eyes, while the head on robot mode is red (like in the show)?
>>5728270
Even Broadside?
>>5728277
Given the robot and beast heads are entirely different, I don't see why not.
>>5728269
It's an ugly deco for me tho.
>>5728273
We'll just have to wait and see then won't we?
Unless you're talking about a Takara exclusive, because that shit's a given.
>>5728277
If the robot mode's chest head is molded in rather than using actual beast mode head like TM2 Megs, maybe.
>>5728278
Yes, hes on the "leaked list" as a remold/repaint of a possibleTidal Wave.
>>5728247
Hes nice and all, but I'm still waiting for Victory Leo to powa up Saber.
>>5728286
I was talking what Hasbro'd do with it. They do love their EZ Mode mold reuse, and nothing is easier than just making Optimus black.
>>5728303
You're missing the fact that all the voyagers so far are triple changers. There's a good chance that Optimus and the new Megatron are both pretools for Octane and Blitzwing.
>>5728303
It's entirely possible, but in the retail level classics line, Hasbro hasn't released a Nemisis bigger than legends class yet.
>>5728367
What about the voyager with the Classics mold?
>>5728378
That was an SDCC release I believe.
Looks like Takara fixed Afterburner.
>>5728391
I guess this puts the must buy column to
Hasbro: Defensor, Bruticus
Takara: Superion, Menasor, Computron
>>5728396
Still could be a richer orange, but it's better than him being pure red. Might be better in-hand too, who knows.
Well now I'm really hyped for Overlord.
And we got Sixshot coming too, right? So that'll be fun.
>>5728397
Yeah that burnt orange ain't bad. Honestly the CW Afterburner is the only figure(without accounting for accesories) I prefer over the UW, and it's sullied by that random green window.
>>5728408
Magic space motorcycle developed by a dinosaur who was an artificially created life form.
tl;dr See pic.
>>5728391
God they just keep winning, don't they? Why would anyone lower themselves to Hasbro standards? I guess if you're a poorfag you have to settle for hasbro. But then you should get a better job and stop buying toys anyway. Its so pathetic, collecting the hasbro versions. It makes your display look like a kid's room. Don't even bother if you aren't ponying up for takara.
>>5728404
Eh, they're going to be letdowns.
>>5728397
If by fixing him you mean the color, then no, he still is red, same shade as Lightspeed, those were their colors on the cartoon, I'd preffer him as orange as Strafe guns, maybe some stickers could help... at least the windshield isn't as blue as it seemed on the first pictures.
>>5728418
We'll see.
>>5728408
The bikes meant to scale for transformers, same with groove.
>>5728418
So then buy pic related. Or his Legends sized brother from IF.
>>5728416
>Bryger Magik
REEEEEEEEEE
I dunno, man.
If that big ass motorcycle had a big ass rider robot then I wouldn't complain
Maybe it's just me being unfortunate enough to discover Gun Max from Brave series first then transformers.
>>5728408
Its a space 2 wheeled vehicle not a motorcycle, it was made in a hurry by a space tyrannosaurus using the scrap on Unicrons head, he had no time for silly scales.
>>5728432
Yeah, I'm saving up for him myself. MMC's been knocking it out of the park with damn near every release since their Sixshot. Price be damned, this one is going on my shelf right next to Sixshot and Predaking.
>>5728426
>no rider
I dunno man, if the bike is made for a transformer robot then where's the rider to begin with?
>>5728438
"I'm in pursuit!"
>>5728407
The final product may have a light shade of green or none, look at Takaras, the first picture had a deep blue window.
>>5728452
I wish Takara's kept that shade of blue for the window though. Thats a very nice rich blue.
>>5728278
Especially Broadside.
>>5728391
Hope this add on is still compatible with UW Scattershot, I like the new botmode, but for the torso I preffer the g1 toy look.
>>5728404
My body is so ready for this.
>>5728476
Who's having a go at it?
>>5728428
>not buying all 3
You underestimate the Overlord love, anon.
>>5728479
It's still the same Silverbolt torso mold, so I don't see why it wouldn't fit, unless the remolded combiner chest bits would interfere.
>>5728483
Hey, I've already got the IF one, planning on the MMC one. Gonna have to see how the HasTak offering pans out for it's price range.
>>5728189
Oh stop that shit, turd partyfag. No one likes your shitty knockoffs any more.
Someone appreciate this picture, because it ended up being a pain to set up.
>>5728504
I appreciate this picture
>>5728476
Bottom reply here, I was defending it dummy. He looks great.
>>5728495
Wasn't trying to be a dick, just thought you meant why bother when you could have one of the others (Overlords one of my favorite characters so I can already see needing all of them). I did get the little IF one too and he's awesome, one of my favorite purchases.
>>5728507
Thank you.
>>5728504
HERE I AM
DOING EVERYTHING I CAN
HOLDING ON TO WHAT I CAN
PRETENDING I'M A SUPERMAN
>>5728514
Nah, I was agreeing with the Overlord love. Motherfucker is just perfect in the comics. Hope they don't kill him off any time soon, but given he's been nearly killed like 3 times now, who knows.
>>5728504
How the fuck did you manage that without a stand of some sort?
>>5728519
I doubt they'll kill him off, he's too valuable alive for use as a 'fuck everything' type character. His little exchange with Tarn was pure gold.
>>5728519
Theres a big event coming on the idw books, "Revolution" it will mix all the hasbro lines, TF, Micronauts, Rom, Gi Joes, etc, it could bring some Human alliance-esque toys but it may fuck up the storylines, they said the individual comics will come back to new number 1s after it.
>>5728528
Maybe we'll get lucky and MMC will include this shit eating grin at some point with another figure.
>>5728532
Thought they said the crossover won't renumber TF books though?
>>5728247
I will be sated when we see MP Dinobot. Still awesome Cheetor though.
>>5728534
Well this is what I found, don't know if they changed the statement.
>REVOLUTION, featuring all the Hasbro licensed series and restarting the comics numbering at #1 for the books involved.
http://www.seibertron.com/transformers/news/idw-hasbro-comics-crossover-revolution-chris-ryall-interview-john-barber-clarifications/35485/
>>5728528
Too bad he has been written down as an utter joke. Can handle tarn well enough, the biggest baddest of the djd, but then the rest of them and an army of decepticons can't handle c-list autobots.
Tarn amounts to jack and shit, and tarn is brought down as well.
I hope Megatron guzzles some normal energon, goes super saiyan and crushes overlord's and tarns heads together.
>>5728479
I think the main issue would be the colors being off
>>5728243
I'll wait for Octane.
>>5728534
>Maybe we'll get lucky and MMC will include this shit eating grin at some point with another figure.
I sure hope so, that face is great.
>>5728562
Tarn has all kinds of problems though and his strength fluctuates greatly depending on whether or not he's juiced up. It's kind've a mixed bag, I've been enjoying it at least.
With Overlord it seems to come down to if he really wants to fight or not. Like half the damn time he's too busy gloating and laughing about the fight and that's his downfall- he's so fucking cocky he forgets to actually fight. That's what got him his ass handed to him in lsotw.
>>5728391
Hooray they fixed the only real gripe I had with it.
So, what do we expect to see a SDCC?
>>5728597
Nothing, because everyone is holding for Takara on that particular figure.
>>5728597
Liokaiser, the Mastersword for the exclusive Fort Max and maybe some random surprise like a Victory Leo from Alpha Lion.
>>5728600
Are they reissuing Liokaiser?
>>5728603
Theres going to be a CW/UW Liokaiser. While the CW doesn't look bad per se, chances are the UW is probably going to do something drastic if UW Computron is any indication.
My KO MP-25 hasn't arrived yet, so I took a picture of Reveal the Shield Tracks.
It's going to be a long couple weeks.
why's everyone suddenly talking about Overlord?
>>5728612
He was teased both verbaly (twice) and with pictures on the past botcon.
>>5728504
Damn, that legends looks better than the warrior.
>>5728612
Because he's been teased and he's something of a favorite because of the comics.
>>5728518
Got me runnin in a cycalone
>>5728649
Well, the MMC is definitely coming out long before the HasTak one. It's also going to be $185 and around 12" tall.
So you know, it's a money thing.
>>5728404
Wait, where's the confirmation?
>>5728659
Just refreshed, whoops.
>>5728391
what was broken?
>>5728664
Moar red.
>>5728665
I feel like I'm the only one who's okay with Afterburner being red.
>>5728676
I can deal with it since it's accurate to what it's based off, it's just the toy colours make him stand out more and are more known for the character.
>>5728665
Wonder if Marissa will be able to ride him.
>>5728682
that ain't my loli
>>5728676
>>5728680
Was the episode "Grimlock's New Brain
" aired only in america or why would they ignore Afterburners color when he was created?
Why is he so perfect?
Posted these last thread but I enjoyed making them and want to try making more, any advice on how to improve?
Personally I think the text might have been a bit out of place and I shouldn't have bothered with it.
Takara wins
>>5728502
but its takara's version of hasbro shit.
u mad?
>>5728189
not gonna lie
I've been buying transformers literally my whole life
never bought a japanese one
I currently own the ultra magnus this was based on
this will be my first japanese transformers purchase. It's got plenty of remolding, will presumably have a better paint job, and it looks like different guns too.
But I'm REAL worried about that head sculpt
>>5728746
We need to wait for a clearer shot, don't worry, by the time pre-orders start we'd of seen it
>>5728746
The head is supposed to be the same as the american, but the middle crest looks bigger on the blurry pic, we have to wait.
>>5728649
I have a strong feeling that Hasbro/Takara's Overlord will be much more focused on the G1 Toy/Masterforce look. So if you only really want IDW Overlord, go MMC. If you don't care either way or prefer Masterforce, wait.
Or, you could get MMC's now, and if Hasbro's ends up being more up your alley, you can probably sell off the MMC one for a decent enough amount.
Went ahead and preordered all four on BBTS just in case. I'm actually considering cancelling my hlj preorders for Blurr and Scourge. The Hasbro one looks more like IDW Blurr and I'm not really sure how much I even care about Scourge. Tak Blurr looks sharp though, but for $10 more than both of them I can get all four.
>>5728769
Then I'll be getting the MMC because muh IDW phase sixers
Black Shadow when?
>>5728773
IF's making one, but it's Legends sized of course.
>>5728773
There's a third party Thunderwing or two on the way, so maybe one will get a remold. Either way, let's save that talk for the third party thread.
>>5728770
>cancelling best blurr and scourge
>all for the sake of idw
Nigga generations blurr would of fit that bill fine, this blurr is best for g1
>>5728780
But idgaf about g1.
>>5728727
let's see how hasbro peasant defend themselves this time
>>5728502
That's the takara version of ginrai, you dumb shit.
>>5728785
Well, on one hand they're essentially the same thing with (on blurr and scourge at least) no retoolings to separate them, plus as you said you save money
I just find the generations toys make better IDW stand ins, hence my platinum set armada sweeps having titan master scourge lead them with 3 cyclonus's having a tea party
>>5728694
Takara's color choices ignore AKOM and their Korean animation almost universally.
IT'S PRIME NOT 'GINRAY' REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>5728189
>>5728727
I can't see the hollow forearms.
I CAN'T SEE THE HOLLOW FOREARMS, AM I BLIND!?
>>5728609
I quite like that figure, But i'd like to see another crack at him and Wheeljack, that clearance for the legs from the windshield is tripe.
>>5728828
I don't get what you mean?
>>5728864
I think he means that you can't really bring the legs forward 90 degrees without them hitting the bottom edge of the window
>>5728869
Oooooh, that IS true.
>>5728428
lolno. That thing is HUGELY oversized.
>>5728408
Why are helicopters, tanks and jets the same size as cars? Because it doesn't matter, get over yourself.
>>5728247
That's so beautiful that I might cry.
>>5728913
Overlord is pretty damn huge though.
Also
>scale
>Transformers
You already fucked up, man.
>>5728619
>TRU Exclusive $450
>>5728935
Would still be cheaper than finding a G1 Liokaiser, particularly worth it if they fixed the GPS on Killbison.
>>5728914
>helicopters, tanks, jets
they're not as glaringly as different in size than a fucking motorcycle
>tanks
I can pretend they're "light" class tank.
pic related
>jets
there are plenty of fighter jets roughly the size of a car
>helicopters
^
and none of the motorcycles in real life comes in size of a car, so there
>>5728927
He's not "nearly twice as tall as Ultra Magnus" tall, though.
>>5728937
>I only care about the motorcycle scale because muh Hasbro told me to
>>5728942
>hasbro
wut
they kinda got it right with pic related so why the regression?
>>5728937
>they're not as glaringly as different in size than a fucking motorcycle
Um, what? Yes they are.
>I can pretend they're "light" class tank.
>there are plenty of fighter jets roughly the size of a cars
>helicopters
You can pretend all you like, but none of these vehicles in CW are any of those types of vehicles. None of them are drone vehicles, mini vehicles or anything like that. All this stretching, just to make Legends Groove work for you.
>>5728938
Compare him to MP Magnus.
>>5728947
>none of these vehicles in CW are any of those types of vehicles
I can pretend they're the reiterated compact build of the existing real life models
kinda like the die shrink they do with CPU and shit
with motorcycles though I can't even use that excuse
>all this talk about scale
If powerglide, an a10 warthog is the same size as a bike, who gives a shit?
>but that was the case in g1!
The toy, not in the animation, and even then either we're talking about toys.
I just want a bike that my leader megatron can ride and you guys keep fighting over a pip squeak
Losers that complain about deluxe groove have no sense of imagination.
>>5728189
I NEED THIS
PM OP was my childhood Optimus Prime. It broke my heart to see Hasbro drop the ball so badly with him.
Thank you based Takara.
Have we gotten any details about the figure aside from the pic. Is it still going to be a headmaster or a proper powermaster? Separate cab robot? Are we going to get Godbomber?
>>5728966
As far as I know, still Headmaster, no cab robot, but Godbomber is rumored to be coming.
>>5728966
>>5728971
I wonder how it must feel to be a fan in Japan looking at the lines like Generations and Titan Returns and the like.
They had more than just G1 as we did. They had Headmasters. They had Masterforce. They had Victory. There was so many other shows that they could grow up and be nostalgic for. But any updated figure is based on either the original show, or some US only toy or character they'd never know.
Go Shooter is just a head and doesn't get his Transector. But hey, here's SCOOP!
>>5728988
I think it's a bit like being an anime or Power Rangers fan over here. The characters that get merch (and the types of merch) are mostly very dependent on what mattered or what was popular in Japan.
>>5728938
Are you seriously complaining about scale in a fucking transformers thread.
>>5728945
fucking Hasbro told you that Rook was necessary and Groove had to be the chest piece because "muh scale". Even though none of Superion's limbs scale at all to the Optimus prime they can connect to.
If Hasbro had released Groove form the start, we wouldn't be hearing you bitch about scale. You practically want Goldner's dick in your rear end so bad, you're that attached to whatever Hasbro does.
>>5729007
>waaaah you called me out with facts I don't care to hear
the only fiction here is that Goldner has a brain.
>>5729008
also, if my father was the jackass that got Michael Bay in charge of making the TF movies, I'd probably kill myself too.
>>5728502
What are the "exclusives" between both UW and CW?
Are they worth jumping ship too?
>CW
Battlecore Optimus prime, Jet Blastoff, Smokescreen, entire computron set, stand alone scattershot, offroad, rook
>UW

Don't forget Vicky. Also the legends like Hasbro's Groove and Hot Rod vs Override and Runamuck.

"...Yesterday, we brought you news on Takara Legends Ginrai having been confirmed at a Transformers panel at the Tokyo Toy Show, with some additional details on the figure.
Now, we have even more information on it, courtesy of a few TFW2005 board members. Type-R tells us that, based on reports from people who attended the panel, the figure will be released in winter. The cab has been remolded to look like the G1 cab and the chest, arms and legs have also been modified to look closer to the G1 bot mode. He’ll apparently still be a Headmaster, though. Likewise, board member Kafuka Fuura informs us that he attended the panel in person, and believes the chest, shoulders, feet, arms and possibly the face have all been redesigned.
That’s still not all, however. For Takara designer Hisashi Yuki has conspicuously updated his Twitter with a sketch entitled “Legends Super Jinrai“, giving us an idea of what they figure may end up looking like."
>>5729071
I am a little insane when it comes to Optimus. The counter stands at 135.
If a remold is different enough from the first version, I must have them both.

It'd be the most money I've ever busted out on TFs, but I must agree, considering it'd be vastly cheaper than hunting down a G1 'Kaiser, and that the UW will probably be top-notch, I don't think I'd mind the excessive wallet rape it would cause me

The US design team entirely changed over in 2001 while RID was being released stateside. Hasbro had closed the Kenner offices and fired most people or moved them from Ohio to Pawtucket.
So they didn't have to re learn anything, they had to learn it for the first time
>>5729201
Black Repaint when?
>>5729204
They couldn't just reverse engineer the existing toys?
>>5729198
Nope, retooled forearms, chest, and apparently the head features changes.
>>5729200
The truck cab in truck mode is closer to g1 optimus/ginrai's truck than being the obvious retool of ultra magnus's truck was, the robot mode truck front reflects this.
Sadly the blurry images don't do it justice unlike yuki's sketch, still it is a retool of a retool so its general form hasn't changed *that* much
>>5729200
The arms are newly molded, and I would say the chest and the head seems to be new too.
The legs are the same but they come with new feet with rocker movement.
It kinda make me want to get it now....
>>5728938
Bullshit. Overlord's original toy was fuckhuge; as big as Scorponok at least. He should be as big as CW Dev or Cybertron Metroplex.
Is Transmetal 2 Blackarachnia worth it? She LOOKS awesome but I've heard she's a bit of a nightmare to pose.
You know, I wish we got more fembots at a size larger than Deluxe. I'd love to see a Leader-class spider-fembot based on a giant golden orb-weaver.
>>5729237
Fuck, here's a better picture of a bigger one.
>>5729208
They had a different design philosophy.
I'm seeing a pattern.
MP's have always had a perfect alt mode with any flaws stuck onto the robot mode, towards the back in MOST cases.
But these beast wars MP's are in reverse, PERFECT robot modes, but faults in beast form, usually feet kibble.
I can understand primal's as they allow him to stand bipedal, but I hoped better for cheetor.
Oh well, pre-order day one still for me, never had a cheetor and his robot mode wins me
>>5729159
Defensor looks a lot better if you raise the shoulders up one click. You lose the solidity, but I think it's a worthwhile compromise.
>>5729237
>>5729241
She's pretty cool, but incredibly top heavy. Her feet are tiny and have heels. Her waist is inhibited by a weird spin kicking gimmick. That said, you can get some decent poses out of her. At any rate she's an interesting addition to a collection, being one of the largest insect figures and one of the largest fembot figures we've gotten.
Where the fuck can I cop this guy for a decent price and reasonable shipping?
>>5729195
You know, I actually like both of them. I like PM Optimus being a chunky war machine, but I can't see him as a stylized super robot; just feels weird. Conversely, I can't see an anime pretty boy like Ginrai using such a brute looking transector, so Takara's stylized super robot Ginrai looks great for him. This helps set the two characters apart way more than just different colored hands or something would.
>>5729284
Is that Hasbro or Takara? I got the Hasbro one a while back on eBay. Deluxes like that will average like 20-30 so anywhere in there is pretty fair.
He's a good toy, though. Much better than the shitty Voyager.
>>5729289
Takara. The prices are shooting to $60 a pop now
And yeah, I have the Voyager and I'm not very impressed

Check Mandarake and hope for the best. Unfortunately you might not get it cheap there, either. Since Takara uses cards for their versions modern toys(unlike the boxes they used for a while), it kills the resale value of them in the Japanese market, so you don't see as many of them pop up.
For reference, I've been hunting down a Henkei Dinobot, and even on Mandarake the prices go for 16000 JPY.
>>5729308
Just checked, can't find anything
Is 60 bucks ridiculous pricing for a Takara deluxe? I paid 40 for aformentioned Megatron so I'm not sure
>>5729302
I saw that!! I had quite a chuckle as you can read how angry Yuki is.
>>5729315
what did you type to search?
Many listings in mandarake can be found using english search terms, but even more can be found using the correct japanese.
All I can give you is to use the tf wiki page, on soundwave's profile (use g1 listing) find the section near the end that gives you his international names, it's gonna be broad but least looking up soundwave in japanese is a better start.
I noticed you may of found a listing but it may say sold out, check below and many more may show up, if they're all sold out, bookmark that shit and check the next day, around this time all new listings will be already up, though might be best to check sooner as some eagle eyed shoppers snap up new listings.
Good luck, finding henkei thundercracker was easy for me this way, soundwave has more toys but its better than looking up an optimus/convoy listing

My bad, misread this. Look for a katakana generator online and type in "soundwave" to get what you prob need to search.
It's probably something like サオンドウィブ but I'd check a katakana generator, too.
>>5729364
If you're talking about the thing Universe Dinobot has, it should be able to avoid it just fine. The stupid decision to give Dinobot normal robot hands meant the fake beast hands couldn't just fold away. Since they're going for visual show accuracy, they wouldn't stick that gimmick on an MP Dinobot.
Sinc epeopel are speculating Cheetor has a fake chest, Dinobot would almost certainly need one, too. I think an MP Dinoobt might just invert the entire torso so that all the raptor skin of the top half folds away to reveal a blue body. Maybe keep U Dinobots raptor leg transformation and have the robot mode arms inside the torso? Whatever engineering magic they need to do, I actually have a lot of faith in the designers. they're 2 for 2 as far as robot mode accuracy goes on the BW MPs. Luckily BW dinobot's raptor mode is fucked up proportion wise already,so theres lots of room to hid things in his torso.

Did they paint or gloss-inject his white plastic this time around? Or did they just leave it again?
>>5729464
Pic related is the hasbro version, what *most* people around the world may get.
The image you responded too is a prototype of the japanese version, apparently head, forarms, and chest molding will differ from the hasbro version, if pic related looks good enough its worth considering solely for the price, bare in mind paint apps between the 2 will differ as hasbro homage the g1 toys, takara homage the cartoons/anime, and they're going for powered up ginrai than power master optimus prime
Japanese versions are affected by exchange rates and shipping fees, and being a leader class he's tall.
>>5729466
Looks plain to me.
I believe the only reissue to have changes was mp starscream mp11 as that was an asia exclusive (as in not japan), and those were improvements.
>>5729475
Hmmm... In that case, where would I pick up the Japanese one? Unless I miss my guess, Hasbro's mold will be sort of "rounded off" or simplified.
It wouldn't surprise me if there were no God Bomber planned for the Hasbro one, since he'd have to be sold separately, and I can imagine them not wanting to sell a trailer by itself.
>>5729486
I take it you're familiar with super god masterforce then.
Yes, hasbro versions usually simplify their products to be competitive in the west with very few examples of their ones being better and those are based on what ends up with more paint apps (some are literally a few shades of paint different).
There is a rumor about god bomber being made but if they do make it it WILL be separate, and will be a japanese exclusive mold (but who knows, might be sold as apex armor), if they do it should retain its robot mode just to make ends meet.
Where to buy is simple for takara's one, amiami, hlj are the main too, amiami has a strict lock in policy and higher prices in exchange for lower overall initial price for pre-orders while hlj is flexable and offers 60day private warehouse to allow shipping in bulk to save in cost and their postage is slightly cheaper in postage.
Also fun fact, ginrai/PM prime is a retooling of ultra magnus, hasbro version pictured, takara's version colors the little guy as alpha trion and changes him to homage toy colors
Are the Takara Arcee eBay listings from Taiwan bootlegs? I kinda want to get her after my Animated Arcee's thumbs snapped, but everywhere that isn't Taiwanese is selling her for stupid prices.

>>5729195

the rectangular ones of the takara one dont look as nice, but i guess they're g1 accurate and more poseable
>>5729498
>I take it you're familiar with super god masterforce then.
Well, not as such. I'm mostly just a fan of Primes, so I just picked up that that's what it's called.
I'm enough of an Optimus-fag that I bought pic related off Amazon. Not cheap, but I'm glad I got that Japan exclusive. If I'd been on the ball, I know it probably would've been cheaper to get from Amiami or HLJ.
>>5729523
>I'm mostly just a fan of Primes
Bad news for you
Ginrai isn't a Prime, he just happens to looks like Optimus
>>5729523
I wanted the supreme optimus prime version of that, but due to a lack of real attachment to this prime as well as owning pretty much all the redecos of the warrior class (including the japanese nemesis prime repaint) I let it go, plus I own the masterpiece optimus prime and didn't want a toy with less engineering trump it with sheer spiffy chrome alone, ginrai is another story since he's another character.
If there are other primes you desire try mandarake, basically japanese 2nd hand otaku dealer, when they list box damaged it might have the slightest of scuffs, and most listings include the box and all unless otherwise shown.
One word of caution, while you'd find some listings using english use japanese names for some, tf wiki provides these at the bottom of most character listings.
Also just incase, g1 optimus is convoy, animated prime is optimus prime, don't use google translate it'll fuck shit up and stick to character names only to make searches easier
>>5729533
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO--wait...
I'll be fine. I still want one. He'll fit into my Prime collection just fine. I guess he's sort-of a Prime-alike, with which I am down.
>>5729533
This is the odd thing about super god master force, they kinda eluded that the ginrai truck...or was it the god bomber?
Anyway one of the 2 was meant for someone else and ginrai just inherent it, kinda like a reincarnated prime with a different mindset, like prime in his rebellious teens, but this is just a theory of mind and I could of mis-understood it
What TFs use scissor-like weapons?
>>5729538
Well the toy became powermaster prime in the west and the comics so you can pretend as such.
I think the japanese gave him prime's likeness just to get early fans
>>5729545
Honestly, if I could change one thing about it, it wouldn't be the legs. It would be the hood just hanging off the back (pic related). Seems like it could have been tilted up to become a backpack or something.
The legs thing doesn't tend to bother me, weirdly. I'm just used to robots in general having oversized lower legs.
>>5729548
I blame gundam for how used I am when it comes to legs for days
>>5729558
To be more precise you have to blame Hajime Katoki designs
>>5729548
Idk. To me the backpack is harmless and just something visual. It doesn't actually affect the figure like the legs do.

>>5729588

Unlike transformers who are sentient machines with unnecessary genders.
I mean shit dude look what IDW done to arcee.
In short gundams are just tanks with the odd one with either an ai or a living soul stuck inside (and so far no male variations) while transformers in modern interpretations have become tumblr, but that's idw's fault

>>5729796
which is why I have no particular love or nostalgia for it
all I care is making sense in the context AND the looks
>>5729823
back then during the beast era the alt form's purpose wasn't about disguise but rather protecting oneself from energon build up
>>5729827
Then you're playing a losing game, because then no combiner would be proportional anywhere, at all.
Hell, if you're going down that road, then all combiners featuring jets would have to at least be as tall as G1 Fortress Maximus to "makes sense"
>>5729823
Of course not, people we're bitching about it being beasts not vehicles.
>>5729829
I actually rather liked that plot idea.
>>5729829
The purpose of alt forms was also to allow explorers to blend in with native surroundings. That goes back to G1. They only needed to be ORGANIC to avoid energon buildup
>>5729696
>waifu who cared about things VS murderholic tranny
Yeah, that sure is an improvement alright.
>>5729837
But they weren't used as disguises this time. It was purely for survival.
>>5729854
Regardless of the plot device in the story, the whole PURPOSE of transformation was disguise.
If you're going to go this far to excuse the total lack of scale among organic beasts, then just apply the same logic to vehicles: The vehicle are that size because a giant, 12-flippin-foot robot chose that as his alt-mode, scale be damned. And since modern TFs are common knowledge among humans in current lore, that makes the "disguise" aspect equally irrelevant as you claim it is in Beast Wars
>>5729864
Disguise from what in Beast Wars? Even g1 didn't play up the disguise aspect, and on cybertron it clearly wasn't for disguise. So no the whole PURPOSE isn't for disguise.
>>5729864
But we are taking about the beast era. They only had them to survive. Not to hide. Especially since the only hiding they would need to do is from the other set of talking animals and extinct beasts.
So no. Beast wars was for survival. Especially with TM and TM2.

I'm wondering if it might look better than PC-01
are there any major flaws with the current RiD line or am I safe to go get any of them?

Sideswipe's chest assembly does not lock in securely.
Grimlock's said to have explosive elbows. I don't have him, no idea what it means.
Steeljaw, remember to pull his arms out all the way so that he has an elbow joint.
