>Green Gourai still up at Koto's US webshop
>MSG Gigantic Arms 01 includes an extra blank face for Gourai and new expression decals
>Desktop Army's 1st wave is still up for preorder, 2nd wave in prototype phase
>Arnval status unclear, a few sites posted p.o. info but no official word from Koto yet
>Strarf and Hresvelgr/Fleswerk still in prototype phase
>No new details on Apsy's Machineca figures or Koto's planned Megami Device line.
>Kind of related, Aoshima is planning a "Variable Fighter Girl" kit based on Macross Δ's VF-31, possibly more to follow

Where to buy second hand Shinkis:
>eBay, Amazon - generally overpriced, but you might get lucky.
>Mandarake, Rakuten - search 武装神姫 and don't trust listing images.
>Yahoo Japan Auctions, Suruga-ya - you'll need a proxy if you’re not in Japan.
>Taobao - some shops ship international now, so you might not need a proxy.
>Amiami, Jungle-scs - occasionally get some preowned.
>Check the BST threads, My Figure Collection, and Busou Shinki World too.

1/12 clothes like Picco Neemo fit these, but they tend to be loose or baggy.

Oh, those. I get it now. Not exactly relevant. They get points for being similarly sized figures robogirls, but they haven't said anything about them being palm sized battle robots and they definitely don't look like girls cosplaying as preexisting mecha, so they're stylistically and thematically different from everything in here. That's why no one really talks about them here. There's also no overlap between the artists/designers of that line and any of the ones making all of these.

But on the figures themselves, they're some GK artist's neat original figures that got wider releases due to popularity. Seem to be part of some sort of all-robot highschool or something, pic related. AFAIK they haven't fleshed out that universe beyond character designs and a few random promo images. Buy em if you like the designs. They'll probably fit Picoo Neemo dresses better than Shinkis do because of the proportions. Check out their general,

I might try to sculpt them on epoxy myself, but I'd still need to learn how to build the circuits for the LED and decide what to do with it as an electronic device.

That would be a cool idea for an iron man figure, not HT, if a 6" could have a small lithium battery or something
>>
>>5677286
One of my silly homebrew ideas was to fuse a USB battery pack with a custom-made cradle, so I'd have a practical charging cradle for shinki with a built-in power storage like a mini-UPS. In-universe it'd be a custom charging cradle that would work away from AC sources once charged.

http://www.amazon.com/Traxxas-1666-Silicone-Dampener-Oil/dp/B0006O5GKY

Safe on all plastics and metals, a tiny bit goes a long way.
>>
>>5682942
I run my hobby knife along the inside of the joint a couple times. Take off a very very small amount at a time though.
>>
>>5683028
Well, shit.
I'm back from looking for it, because no third world tier service from Amazon to my third world country, and there was nothing.
What can I use instead?
>>
>>5683296
Basically any silicone oil will do, that's just conveniently sized.
>>
>>5683305
I didn't find any silicone oil of any kind.
There was some of that wood polisher and dashboard brightener??, both with silicone and nothing else.
>>
>>5683305
But a warning about silicon sprays - a lot of them contain petroleum and will fuck up some plastics, so, make sure to check the label for whatever you find. Pure silicon = good. Anything else in there with it = stay away.
>>
>>5683314
Without knowing the specific product I can't say one way or the other. Find it online and link it maybe or take some pics of the labels?

I find I need to tighten them more than anything. The left shoulder joint on my Materia wont stay up unless its all the way up and my Stiletto's hip/thigh joints are also very loose.

Any suggestions?
>>
>>5683476
Try using a thin coat of nail polish.
>>
>>5683346
I would stay far far away from that stuff. Look for silicone oil, not a polish or cleaner or anything scented. There's no telling what's really in that.
>>
>>5683588
Would Tamiya model car lubricant work? Is that one silicone based?
>>
>>5683614
Like shock oil? As long as it's 100% silicone it should.
>>
I'm sitting here looking at my architect still in the box, but I can't bring myself to assemble her. I'm slightly terrified of trying to put her together and screwing up. Is this normal for first time owner?
(reposting because left name from other board on)
>>
>>5683912
Go over to the gunpla general and pick yourself out an HG and build that first. That way you can practice and screw up all you need on that one so you'll have your techniques down for your girl.
>>
>>5684054
HG?
>>
>>5684076
High-grade, the gunpla kits have different gradings for difficulty/part accuracy.
>>
>>5683912
A couple of things I learned from building my Stylet:
1) If you only have shitty nippers available, leave a few milimeters of excess when you cut and be really patient because you'll have to sand down that shit. Get at least three sheets of sandpaper on different gauges; I started with 1000 and will be finishing with 2000.
2) Do everything in the order the instructions tell you and only cut what you are told to use in every step.
3) This is related to 1. Never let anything you cut to become white because that might spread and bite into the piece you'll be using, and unless you're painting everything you won't want that.

Good luck, guy.
>>
>>5684085
>sandpaper
I use emery boards for my 40k models. It's the same as sandpaper but easier to use and trim. So that's one base covered.

>Never let anything you cut to become white because that might spread and bite into the piece you'll be using
I don't understand what you mean.
>>
>>5684111
When you cut, you apply pressure to what you're cutting. Plastic turns white when it's crushed and that might spread to its surroundings.
Shitty nippers will need more pressure than usual to make a cut and it might white plastic on the pieces you'll use. Also, bad form when cutting will do that so be careful with how you cut.
>>
>>5684128
Okay makes sense and does nothing to ease my anxiety. Still not like it'll assemble itself.
>>
>>5684145

Yeah, nah, you're only supposed to keep aloe vera in food safe plastics because it leaches chemicals readily, so putting some sex lube with aloe in it on toys might cause brittleness eventually. It could work fine, but I wouldn't risk it.

That hobby grease should do the trick though, it just a little harder to apply than oil sometimes.
>>
Are those hobby cutting matts worth picking up?
>>
>>5687732
I tend to have more respect for people who have them. They make you seem more serious about your hobbies.
>>
>>5687732
Well yea, why wouldn't they be, unless you're happy getting your table all sliced up
>>
>>5687732
They make cutting stuff way easier, because you worry less about destroying your desk or table. Get one, it's worth it.
>>
>>5687763
I'm still using this ancient cutting mat I got from my old school days. Still works.
>>
>>5687777
>because you worry less about destroying your desk or table
This also goes beyond destroying by cutting, the cutting mat is a perfect place to do shit on top of without fear of leaving paint, glue or whatever behind on your table

>>5687779
I find once you get a cutting mat you hardly ever need to replace it, my current one has been with me for years, at some point I wasn't doing any hobby things and put it away where it got hot and all weirdly bent, but once I got into Gunpla I put heavy shit on top of it, straightened it out and have been using it since
>>
>>5687732
Nope. Order a kit online, grab the cardboard box it ships in, and layer up pieces of cardboard the size of the mat you want. Tape around the edges and you have a perfectly good, free cutting matt in whatever size you like.
>>
>>5687856
Until your xacto knife goes right through and gouges the desktop, or you spill some filthy thinner on it and think 'hey it's fine the cardboard soaked it up' and then you move it and you have a big stain.

Well I finally got my first shinki. I got a strarf in the mail today, and after washing the plasticizer off, she's good. Previous owner kept everything about perfect so no problems besides a slightly loose joint which I'll fix up later.

But basically she seems like cool stuff, and I can get how there's still a dedicated thread here for this line.
>>
>>5689815
Welcome friend. Good job starting with Strarf. And if you think that's good you should consider buying some newer ones too, the designs and articulation for the second gen figures are even better.
>>
>>5689815
>plasticizer
Is that a protective coating thing?
>>
>>5690102
Read the guide. Plasticizer is in every plastic in varying amounts. Makes it softer, I believe. Older toys sometimes start to "sweat", or leak the plasticizer. It shows they're degrading, but usually easy to wash off. More common in toys that haven't been released from their cardboard prisons.
>>
>>5690144
Plastizer is weird business. I had a nedo I was gonna display recently, sticky as hell, covered in the stuff. Soap and water washed it right off. All good. But I open up some I've had in boxes way longer and they come out pristine. Confuses me.
>>
>>5690144
Okay thanks. Also is there difference between shinkis marked PVC and ones not marked PVC on Mandarake?
>>
>>5690151
Temperature, humidity, and exposure to sunlight/UV rays affects the rate of plasticizer leakage, I think.
>>
>>5690197
This. Being in the box is sort of an insulator from heat/humidity/UV, especially if you have it in yet another box like a shipping box. Of course this won't make a difference if you're house is a sweltering jungle shit hole but if it's just a little warm it will keep things cooler and avoid massive leakage. In that scenario you could have figures on your shelf leaking while stuff in box isn't.
>>
>>5690144
I'm pretty certain this strarf spent most of her existence in this box (no one even looked at the instructions); so she was probably sweating it up quite a bit in there.

I don't have the original one but I cant find it anywhere in stock that isn't overpriced. I'm not a fan of the bright green but I plan to try painting it to get some experience with enamel and acrylic paints. As far as painting goes, would priming, painting, and adding a top coat be ok or should I add more steps? I just wanted to try the simplest steps out to get a feel for it.

Yeah, the recolor of Jinrai is the only one that looks better than the original. Maaaaybe Materia if you're into slutty spray on tans.

Anyone have a Murmeltier and the manual handy? Suruga has one for cheap that's tempting but it says it's missing "part number 36."

Anyone know what part that actually is?

Thanks a lot. Hopefully someone else will buy it so I don't need to decide. 6k is tempting, but I know I'll need to buy a complete one in the future so it's not really 'saving' money.

So a few points
1) Maid Sarisa > Mana > Sarisa > Fin? > Lin
2) I assume this is some kind of book thingy? I see "Novelize" in there
3) Is the last charcter Fin, Find, Finl, Fine? I can't read that last letter.

Not that it's because it's bad but because I don't like none of the designs that much.

So now that there are more than just two FAGs out and more on the way I kind of hope that koto has another FAG contest towards the end of the year.

They've got some kind of builder-oriented exhibition going on soonish. Not a contest though.

I think it's just people getting to submit their kits to be put on display.

What are some options for miliputt?
I spent like two weeks searching for some cera-grease because my nigger country is not fully aware plamo exists and I'm pretty sure I'll go through the same when searching for milliput.
>>
>>5703142
No site, but I'm sure you could do a group buy. Which ones do you want? I was tempted to get a second set to sell piecemeal and keep what didn't move.
>>
>>5703214
>What are some options for miliputt?
Apoxie and green stuff are two good places to start.

Absolute worst case scenario, you can seam weld fairly well using chips of the plastic runner as 'paint' mixed in with the type of glue that melts and fuses plastic.
>>
>>5703323
Cant really sand green stuff tho due to how rubbery it gets after drying. But that might just be my personal preference talking.

>>5703214
Might wanna check any hobby stores that caters to either tabletop gaming or train/other vehicular model hobbies.
>>
>>5703142
If I knew of other anons willing to group buy I'd join in.

Really regret pre ordering so much, otherwise I'd have gone for the whole set.

I know what you mean. That Charlotte Yeager scale is coming out that same month, and I really can't justify a near 300 freedom dollar order to get two sets of them.
>>
>>5703413
>Now to find a tutorial to sculpt twinbraids.
Make ropes, braid ropes, attach braids. Add mass for hair and the tip after the braid base dries.

I don't know much about green stuff, but if you wait an hour or two after mixing the A and B parts of apoxie, it should be sturdy enough to not get mixed together but still pliable enough to shape.
