Do you think there will be a Kenner style Bishop?
>>
>>5634200
That would be great. I love that Kenner turned Bishop into an xtreme 90s battle robot.
>>
>>5634218
I would settle for a repainted Robocop body with an altered Lance Henricksen head.
>>
>>5634224

That'd be neat but can they actually mix parts like that?

I don't know enough about how the licensing on the figures works.
>>

Don't forget the Terminator Gatling gun.
>>
>>5634268
Eh, if I get bored and an extra Bishop, I'll do it myself. I figure The Robocop sculpt is just close to this with need for small alterations on the chest.
>>
>>5634268
They've used Dutch's pants and boots on several different figures across different lines now.

I don't see why they couldn't borrow a few pieces from Robocop to make Kenner bishop, they own the molds after all.

No, completely wrong. Focused heat from a hairdryer will soften the torso through the soft rubber overlay, then you can pop the arm off at the shoulder.

Nice, I hadn't thought of that because Hudson and Hicks were made back when qc's were more frequent and they somehow feel a bit more fragile than Arnie.

What the fuck is this shit? Fox has confirmed it canon, but it makes no sense.

Ellen Ripley woke up between Alien and Aliens, had another fun alien adventure, went back to sleep, was grabbed by Weyland in Aliens, and didnt remember any of it? Who approves this shit?
>>

Apparently the later ones are worse. The aliens developed some sort of genetic memory that made all them hate her and hunt her and her family whenever they can.

Got a new/old figure today.

She's okay, not a lot of leg articulation because of the way the jumpsuit is sculpted around her waist. Can't stand without a base cause of her high heels. The portal gun is probably the coolest part.

Neca should put LEDs in more figures.
A predator with light-up eyes in the mask would be fucking neato.
>>
>>5635460
Protip: Only whites and ethnic koreans are counted in Japan's foreign population figures. Illegal SEA and brazilians and all seven black people living there are either not counted or not even a percentile worth mentioning. So Japan's white population is vastly greater than America's Japanese population by percentage.

So... you're the retarded one, I guess.

even if he is who gives a shit? he's 100% right.

look up Transformers canon confirmed by Hasbro. the fandom is so autistic they actually believe the old Transformers Prime show AND the new RID show is both in the same universe as the War for Cybertron games, despite there being tons of design and story differences between them. Hasbro is a fucking toy manufacturing company, their priority is to make toys and earn money from said toys, and yet the fandom thinks they give a shit about what makes sense in the canon. The Fallen and Unicron also apparently exist in every cartoon, despite all versions of Unicron being extremely different. They're all the same Unicron though, apparently.

Official canon is shit for anything is shit unless its a story written by one single individual author.

I had this exact same argument about a month ago when I posted about Neca's Rambo figures, and how they all fail to capture Stallone's likeness as well as some of Neca's other figures have captured the likeness of their respective characters (Dutch, Ripley, Robert Patrick's T-1000)

My post ended up getting deleted by janitors because of the amount of shitposters who replied in uproar, how dare I post my opinion!

So Kenner Ripley is okay I guess if you already like or don't have the previous release.

Good: the plastic used for the crotch piece is actually an appropriate color this time. The gun is cool but would be better if it had the other harness part. At least Vasquez is getting it.

Bad: the shoulder discs are still the wrong color and painted over, so good luck ever moving them without scratching it all off. Most obnoxious NECA constant. The plastic on the skin also looks way worse. It's real shiny and just doesn't really compare to the original NECA Ripley. This one is painted worse all the way around. She also can't hold the gun very well, as this is just a repaint and they didn't bother giving her a left hand that's actually suitable for gripping the weapon included.

Meh.

They're weirdly painted and cartoony.

Maybe it would've worked better if they hadn't used Sigourney Weaver's headsculpt, but since they did they should've left the eyes the same as the original, in my opinion.

What do you think of the eyes anon?
>>
>>5636671
I think they look bad, but out of the three I had to choose from were still the best. For the record, that is a pretty flattering picture. From any other angle, they do not look good at all. That picture was more to show the difference in plastic and paint between the two.
>>
>>5636665

The eyes ARE bigger. But still looks good to me. Now if my store would get her in...
>>
>>5636676
Yeah I noticed she looks super glossy/sweaty in this pic >>5636547

Did they use that awful John Matrix plastic again?
>>
>>5636682
Ehhhhh not quite? I don't have that figure (funny enough it's because I've never seen one with decently painted eyes), but that plastic is real similar to the Rambo plastic, yeah? If so, I'd say this is somewhere between that and the original Ripley. Definitely not as bad as Rambo, that thing looks super weird.

I think anyone who's been buying NECA for a while is pretty aware of their challenges when it comes to painting faces and eyes. I lucked out on this Bishop today, getting it for $6.90, but the one I left behind looks kinda like the bartender from the last season of American Horror Story. Not a good look.
>>
>>5636682

There's nothing wrong with that plastic.
>>
>>5636708

Yeah, that was my problem too, and half a Bishop at full MSRP seems like an even worse deal.

But this is NECA after all and they did just rerelease the ultimate Terminator with less accessories for the same price so who knows what's going on over there.
>>
>>5636753
It'd be a solid purchase if the Queen could actually hold it, but that seems pretty unlikely due to the sculpt
>>
>>5636773

It came with an egg and facehugger. That equals the cost out, whether you want to admit to that or not, that's simply the facts.
>>
>>5636765
Cool, I respect your opinion of my opinion.

>>5636776
I would have been sold on it if she could hold him up using her tail but that's pretty far fetched for a couple of figures.

>>5636778
>It came with an egg and facehugger. That equals the cost out, whether you want to admit to that or not, that's simply the facts.

Except they released a six pack of eggs with three facehuggers with really awesome collectible packaging for the same price as bisected Bishop...
>>
>>5636783
Really awesome packaging? It was an egg carton. That material is fucking dirt cheap.

The egg with the Bishop figure still cost out as a regular figure.
>>
>>5636794
>Really awesome packaging? It was an egg carton.

Precisely.

>The egg with the Bishop figure still cost out as a regular figure.

If you say so. But I don't look at that figure and think 'wow this is a good deal and definitely worth as much as Ripley or an alien warrior'.
>>
>>5636794
The half Bishop is a new torso, head, and an egg and a facehugger.

Regular Bishop was new everything head to toe, an extra hand, and two accessories.

Six eggs and three facehuggers are three pieces of wire and 9 chunks of soft plastic.

All three are approximately the same price depending on retailer.

It doesn't matter if you think it, that's just how it budgets out. If they saved anything on Bishop it goes towards something else LIKE Ripley, be it a paint app, articulation, an accessory, or the likeness rights.
>>
>>5636803
The eggs and facehuggers don't use likeness rights, are reused over and over again. They're literally saving a ton of money on the egg pack.
>>
>>5636807
>If they saved anything on Bishop it goes towards something else LIKE Ripley, be it a paint app, articulation, an accessory, or the likeness rights.

That doesn't mean it's worth the same amount as anything else. But you're always pretty happy to jump up and applaud them for making more money off of you.

It really doesn't matter though. Something is only worth what someone will pay for it. If anons don't think half a dude and two accessories are worth the same as nine accessories or a full dude with three accessories, then thats how it is. Deal with it.
>>
>>5636810
>The eggs and facehuggers don't use likeness rights, are reused over and over again. They're literally saving a ton of money on the egg pack.

Further proving that half-Bishop at full MSRP is not a deal.
>>
>>5636803
Now that you've listed all of the parts there I definitely don't think bisected Bishop is worth as much as the others.

He's still pegwarming in pretty much every store where I'm from, whereas Ripley and the genocide xenomorphs have been sold out for months.

It could vary. Mattel used to say that license agreements stopped them from using tooling across different lines, but then turned around and did it anyway so who knows.

Ehhhh. It looks good and all, but I can't justify spending £20 on a figure with barely 90 degree elbows. Seriously, how hard would it have been to get a better range? NECA know how to do elbows and knees; their Aliens and Predators are proof of that. It's not even like it would need to be double jointed- Figmas only use a single joint and they have superb elbow range.
>>
>>5637840
they obviously don't have the rights and altered it to avoid a lawsuit. I don't see anyone complaining about the innacuries of the predators. just look at the classic kenner spiked tail pred, when the fuck was it striped like a zebra which neca obviously takes liberties with and 'artistis' imagines

Surely they didn't do this just because of 'Alien Day'?
This must have been in the works for months.

I don't know why NECA and McFarlane don't just strike up a deal with Kaiyodo or Max Factory to license their joints. The way both companies make figures lends itself to cutting up a sculpt to insert joints, and it would save them the R&D and tooling costs of doing something similar themselves.
>>
>>5637927
>What's with all the sudden love for the Aliens figure line?

One of the upcoming waves is going to be an Aliens wave. 2016 is the 30th Anniversary of Aliens, so they wanted to do more Aliens-centric figures this year.
>>
>>5637932
>I don't know why NECA and McFarlane don't just strike up a deal with Kaiyodo or Max Factory to license their joints.

I don't think you can copyright a joint....

What's ore, those figures usually cost more because of that extra engineering and work that goes into the better articulation If NECA did figma/revoltech/Bandai level articulation, they'd probably end up costing way more than they do, which would defeat the purpose of why NECA does what they do.

They probably already have the full casts' parts sculpted, just waiting for the right time & likeness rights purchase. Example was the odd Windrix figure a few years back, which was based on Apone's sculpt but failed to acquire the rights; so they replaced the head and released it as a "tribute" to that late cancer dude. Pretty sure they still have Apone's sculpted head buried somewhere in their workshop, and probably the rest of the Aliens' cast as well.

Holy shit that's awesome. Pity the base mold is still the same though, there are a few things that could be improved (joint at the base of the neck, articulation for the "headrest" so it can do proper crawling poses without leaving a gaping void on its back etc...). Also that mold seam on the back is super noticeable with those colours.

Still great though. If they do a concept dog alien (with the lips) then we'll have a full team of concept Xenos.

>they'd probably end up costing way more than they do, which would defeat the purpose of why NECA does what they do.

All the anime girls figma make sure needs a lot of engineering every single time right? I guess there are couple challenging figures like SHF Broly, Revoltech Raiden, that requires fancy trickery and engineering, but most of them don't. NECA spend so much time making top tier sculpt and it is a shame for them to have minimum articulation. A customizer with enough time can switch out all the NECA joints with chinese figma joints and get more articulation out of NECA toys, so why can't their inhouse sculptor do that?

>All the anime girls figma make sure needs a lot of engineering every single time right?

It isn't about whether or not they're tricky. Even though like, Figma puts out same-y looking schoolgirls/boatgirls all the time, they're still generally sculpted from the ground up every time. Not always, obviously, but usually.

Besides, most Japanese companies favor high articulation over sculpt usually On normal looking humans, although they end up being highly articulate, the joints are usually really obvious and show really obviously. Despite the high amount of articulation in, say, the shoulders of a figma, bare shoulders usually look like ass.

NECA tends to meet in the middle as far as sculpt and articulation goes.

I really like aliens, but it's not something I'm obsessed with and will buy every version of, so I just wanted one xenomorph, and am debating on which one to get. I kinda want it to be a definitive one

I just saw the AVP Warrior at TRU, looked really nice. I almost got it but figured I'd ask here. I was also thinking about big chap since he's the original. Also considered getting the Isolation one since I really liked that game.
But factoring in sculpt, articulation, loose joints, warped parts; Which Xenomorph is the best?
>>
>>5639159
>factoring in sculpt, articulation, loose joints, warped parts; Which Xenomorph is the best?

Based on the xenos you listed:
The new AvP Warrior has the best articulation but suffers from a lot of issues with loose hips because of the joint design. Big Chap is probably the best sculpt, but the articulation is kinda meh. Isolation has a really cool design but struggles to stand because of weak ankle joints.

There is no 'best', you kinda just have to pick a flaw you can live with.

McFarlane has some of the most bro-prices in the industry and they're already doing those types of joints.

No lose joints, nothing broken (short hoses threat aside), stands, bends, etc, etc. Obviously every figure is going to be different and all that shit.

Thank you

It's great. I have the first release and it's super solid. I like it so much I keep it out of my regular setup and display it seperately with Ripley

Figured out the catch, why Randy said a few months ago to temper expectations for Vasquez. Non-removable headgear. Doesn't bother me personally.
>>
>>5639879
Ah, that sucks. But I feel like they'll probably release another version with a headgear-less head.
>>
>>5638112
No idea. I even signed up to get emailed for when it came on sale and I never got one. The fuck man.
>>
>>5639879

That's...actually not a big deal. Like, I would've displayed her with all the gear and shit on anyway, so...that's fine. Like, that is the most non-problem ever.

He is still available for retail price and likely will be for at least another few months. I don't know why you think you fucked up?

If you have a Big Chap, he isn't really necessary. Its a straight repaint, and the new paint hides the details rather than accentuates them, so he actually looks worse than big chap.

Some of the concept chaps paints look wickedly awesome... Like a bone alien. then some like mine look more like he's just molded out of a shell.... The bone ones look cool and I wish I had one of those
>>
>>5640342
That paint job looks real shitty, like there's no rhyme or reason to it, they just slapped it over him.

I have a similar issue with the black wash on one of my red genocide xenos.
>>
>>5640342
>>5640351

That's because there's two versions. There's the full on bone, and then this one's meant to be more clear/translucent. So yes, that was on purpose.
>>
>>5640332
Aaaaayyyyy you're exactly who I was referring to

>>5640332
>So yes, that was on purpose.

No, it absolutely was not. Randy didn't even know about it until multiple people brought it to his attention on twitter.
>>
>>5640357
>So yes, that was on purpose.

Yeah, I highly doubt that. Look at the paint on the left thigh, it's just blotted on randomly, some parts are opaque, others are clear, there's no consistency whatsoever.

>>5640364
>Randy didn't even know about it until multiple people brought it to his attention on twitter.

This.

The 'bone' version looks so much better than the 'clear' one.

It looks more obvious here than in any of the other pics in the thread.

The one on the left looks almost more yellow-ish, and the paint looks chalky.

The one on the right does look more transparent just with whiter paint overlayed.

Hi fellow necanons, I'm in a store looking at two and have decided to stand here like a weirdo and make this in public for the sake of the thread.

Not sure if itll be apparent in the picture, but there's about as many subtle differences between the two as there are between the two AVP aliens I'm looking at right now. The one I have at home looks pretty similar but with less and more paint in various places. One of the barely has paint on his tail compared to the other, but both are clearly clear and the same thing.

Sorry in advance if it flips

Had to double check that, I thought the grey version was the molten lead version.

I really hope they don't end up releasing it as a chase figure, that would pretty much kill any chance of non-Americans getting their hands on it for non-rape prices.

With Alien Series 9 out of the bag, time to get hype for Series 10. As far as we know, it's going to be the start of Kenner inspired figures. Will all 3 be Kenner aliens? If so, which ones?

I think so, I doubt they'd give us a Kenner repaint of Vasquez right after giving us the regular version in wave 9. And they definitely wouldn't throw non-Kenner inspired figures into a Kenner wave.

I hope it's the mantis, panther and bull aliens.
>>
Predator Wave 15 has been pushed back a couple days. It was due to ship out on the 5 when I check last week. Now its the 9th. No big, but just a heads up.
>>
>>5644239
I'd bet scorpion (variant on Warrior), Panther (variant on dog alien), and Mantis (warrior variant).

Snake will be an ultimate in 2017 since it was cool as fuck, and requires a lot of retooling.

Kenner wave 2 will probably do Bull and Gorilla on the AvP body, and a human. They won't start humans on wave 1 since we are getting so many humans this year already.

nigga no, don't jinx it. Those two fuckers need their own sculpt or they'll look like shit, perhaps they can share the same torso and have it retooled later for rhino alien. I can totally see Scorpion using the AVP body though, since it's bulkier than the standard warrior and perhaps Mantis on the isolation body with a new head.
Speaking of kenner, which alien do you guys think it's the one on the left?
