How do you accessorize your tiny robot girls?

Read the guide:

Prev. thread: >>5496668

News:
>No price or date on the Arnval or Strarf kits yet. Koto had both prototypes at WF.
>The next FA:Gs will be Hresvelgr/Fleswerk and Baselard. Colors, price, & date unknown.
>Koto’s webshop will have a green version of Gourai.
>Desktop Army's next planned wave "Crome" is designed by Tanimeso, who made Espadia & Lancamento.
>Blade's "Sylphy" wave is still up for preorder.
>Megami Device will start with 4 characters designed by Humikane, same general idea as BS but not owned by Konami. Possibly complete prepainted figures, full details unknown.
>Apsy now has a small body prototype for his Machineca figures, but still no release info.
>MSG Gigantic Arms is an upcoming large combinable power armor kit line from Koto that will be compatible with all of those, no release info yet.

Where to buy second hand Shinkis:
>eBay, Amazon - generally overpriced, but you might get lucky.
>Mandarake, Rakuten - search with kanji and don't trust listing images.
>Yahoo Japan Auctions, Suruga-ya - you'll need a proxy if you’re not in Japan.
>Taobao - some shops ship international now, so you might not need a proxy.
>Amiami occasionally gets some preowned.
>Check the BST threads, My Figure Collection, and Busou Shinki World too.

1/12 clothes like Picco Neemo fit these, but they tend to be loose or baggy.

Not bad fallbacks, but I was hoping for a catpaw the size of a standard shinki (or FAG) hand that I could cannibalize for a full custom.

The Revoltech Melynx might work, though I'm not sure the size of it and I'd rather not wait a few more months.

Going fully custom seems to be the only option there.

As someone should be getting his White Materia in the mail tomorrow.

About the knee joints, should I sand down the peg a bit (making the round peg not so round) for easier knee movement?
I am building Skylet right now, the left knee joint literally stuck. You are turning the blue peg when you moving the black knee part.
I don't want this to happen again.
>>
>>5536242
I heard similar things about Gourai's elboww. I would say sand down the elbows and knees slightly on all FAGs. Don't want to make them floppy, but do give it a little extra clearance for the moving parts.

Do we know who's coming out after Jinrai? I'm hype as hell for Baselard.
>>
>>5538291
They didn't specify at Wonfes
>>
>>5538291
It just hit me that Baselard isn't using Materia's lower body as a base like Jinrai is.

I thought they'd be basing all of the newer ones off of Materia but I guess I was off the mark.

Will be interesting what the differences are.
>>
>>5538510

As long as its got the improved thighs and fixed hip joint like Materia, it's all good.
>>
>>5538517
It likely will, but I'd imagine the articulation would be even better on baselard thanks to the high cut.
>>

Not him, so I may be wrong, but it looks like this Picco Neemo dress. Now that you ask, I'm actually not sure what they're made out of. They feel cotton, but I can't say for certain. The boots are from one of the Assault Lilys, I think, but I'm not sure which one.
>>
>>5541067
Sewing machines are kinda shite at this scale as you're working with part that are smaller than the machine's foot plenty often. Sewing by hand's the way to go, really.
>>
>>5541385
Aparently got things mixed up at some point, i was only talking about Pomock and Partio, i dont have Mao or Howling.
>>
>>5541398
No problem, it's actually very confusing.
Maochao and Howling standard versions come with neither hand nor feet paws
Maochao's swimsuit comes with footpaws, but no handpaws
Howling swimsuit comes with handpaws, but heels instead of footpaws.
And then Partio and Pomock standard version come with both hand and footpaws, but their prototype versions come with neither.

I went with Howling swimsuit because I can use her parts for a cat, dog, or bunny custom just as easily depending on my mood when she gets here.

Thanks for this, I was considering grabbing a couple pairs. Being able to get them in different colors is nice, but the texture looks a bit too off for me, and sanding them down enough looks like it'd make them too small or ruin the detail. I think I'll stick with resin for now

Welp, I finally bit the bullet and got my first shinki. Now that I've got an income, I guess I'll slowly chip away at that backlog of must-haves I got all those years ago.

How hard is it to find an altlene with her bonus helmet? I wouldn't doubt it's expensive, but how bad is it normally?
>>
>>5546485
I'd estimate around 15000 to 25000 yen for altlene depending on whether or not she has the wutang helm.

Personally just got a normal altlene without the helm and then bought the helm off of YJA.

Anyone else get one of these sweet, sweet rivetless recast bodies? Just tossed my first of two together and I've gotta say it's worth every penny. I highly recommend them if he runs the mold again. I ordered two bodies, two extra sets of chest, two blank heads, and two painted heads, and I've only found one bubble. Thinking of going full retard with the other and making either that black cow girl (though I may wait until I can find a broken Graffias for her) or maybe Original the Character since I got a couple blank heads with it.

Shitty pic, sorry. When I get a real camera, I will take ten good pictures for every shitty picture I've posted here.
>>
>>5547913
How does it feel compared to a regular mms body?
>>
>>5548077
It feels pretty good. It's resin, so it feels much more like a doll body than a toy body. Way more matte than normal Shinkis. Texture wise, it feels like Picco Neemo bodies. I'm not sure if resin or plastic is more durable, but I'm not used to resin so I'm babying it for now. I'm especially nercous about that horseshoe shaped hip joint. It's a very faithful recreation, just with resin joints replacing the rivets, so articulation is just as good as a normal MMS3rd.

Only major complaint is the chest piece, which is rigid resin and I can already tell it will be the first thing to break. (which is why I got extras) Though on the other hand, I felt the chest of the MMS3rd was the weak point there. And megamelons makes everything worth it.
>>
>>5548127
Did you have to glue the parts together or does the body still have screwholes?

The holes are there, but it works like a regular plastic model where it's just a resin peg through a little cap. Hopefully you'll be able to tell what I mean from this pic.

And it definitely needs glue. The fits aren't nearly as precise as a factory made toy. You could get it together without glue, but it'd fall apart after a few poses. Especially the joint caps, which would be super easy to lose.

The neck, upper arm sockets, and thigh sockets needed to be tightened up with nail polish, but the rest of the joints fit well. I needed to widen the hand holes a bit with an x-acto knife, too

Here's a question: If you were in charge of the revival of Busou Shinki, and got to pick an artist to do the character designs for a pair of new Shinki figures, who would you pick? What would the "theme" be?

For the artist, I'd pick Satoshi Urushihara, as quite frankly the guy's art is god-tier. Like the best parts of 80s and 90s anime rolled together. As for the theme, possibly a crustacean theme (so spiny lobster and king crab) or a construction theme (so cement mixer and bulldozer maybe?).

That'd be awesome. Yamashita is a fantastic artist. Sadamoto would be a good candidate too, though I don't know how good he is at mechanical design.

Another good option (don't know if he's done some already) would be Mika Akitaka. He's great at Mecha Musume and he's a well established mecha designer too. IIRC he did the designs for Galaxy Fraulein Yuna. Pic related was a drawing of Squid Girl as a MM he did.

So I'm considering getting some more Shinkis. I only have Espadia at the moment but I love her and I think I need more. Obviously Lancamento is a must as she's her wavemate, but what are some other good ones that can be had for fairly reasonable prices? I was considering getting the Fort Bragg set and the sports outfit body for her (as it's the cheapest "custom" body on Mandy ATM) but I'm not sure if the body would be compatible (I know mixing MMS 1st and 3rd bodies is a very bad idea). I bought 3 bodies and payed 150 yuan and got to the page in pic, but is that it or are there other fees I have to pay such as shipping?
>>

Not that anon, however I did purchase a recast from that seller a year or so ago. Used a middleman though.

It looks like that price may simply be a deposit to reserve one?
>>
>>5562094
Other kits. You basically have to learn how to deal with nubs and you can't do that without having some nubs to practice on.

If you're trying to be hardcore, get some really cheapass terrible WW2 fighter aircraft and try to turn them into something presentable. That requires all the tools of the trade - the knives, the files, the sandpaper, putties and seam filler, pla-plates, clamps and heath guns.
>>
>>5562555
It's a shame the blank Shinkis are so fucking expensive or I'd get a few and buy some older Airfix Spitfires for cheap and convert a sort of "sister" for Asuka from the parts.

For that matter it's a shame Asuka is so bloody expensive.
>>
>>5562094

Kits of mobile suits from the current gundam show are around 1000 yen each before shipping.

Grab a graze or something and practice on that.

You are a little late to the party, but welcome anyway.

Check Mandarake or try to find that guy in the thread that wanted to sell a Maryceles Lemuria and a Strarf Bis. And yes, we know that the aftermarket prices are insane.

Still torn, probably Benio or Ach, maybe Proxima. I wasn't ready for these choices today.

I'm somehow used to aftermarket prices and expected to have to shell out hardcore for something that ended a few years ago.
Still, the robot girl loyalty speaks louder.

Eh, those are just acrylic eyes. You can get them cheap from BJD shops. For a cyclops, they'd probably be the 12-14mm, but if you want normal eyeholes, 6-8mm would probably work. They even make anime-themed ones (usually referred to as animetic)-- I think GLIB is the company that makes a larger variety of the small ones. You can look up sites that sell Parabox or Obitsu to find some.

You can also DIY them. There are some people on Etsy that make teeny tiny urethane or glass ones. There's also an abundance of them on Taobao.

That being said, that custom is so fucking cute.

Huh, that isn't SO bad for an exclusive I guess...Certainly less ludicrous than Murmeltier. Pity I just spent close to £100 on a pair of Shinkis. I'll add it to my favourites in any case in the unlikely event it's still there by the time I'm able to buy it.

Thanks anyway anon. You're pretty cool.

>>5562802
Yeah, I can imagine, though I'd prefer to do something a little different from Asuka, and definitely different from the Strike Witches "propeller/fuselage legs" setup. Perhaps a fuselage and propeller mounted as a kind of hip pod via the thigh hardpoints rather than actually replacing the lower legs?

Fuck, a whole series of real-world plane inspired Shinkis would be cool. Perhaps a sort of "Siamese twin" Shinki inspired by the Blohm and Voss 141, with one big Shinki and one smaller one connected together?

>>
Just watched the first episode of the Busou Shinki anime. The battle scenes are definitely the best bits, that's for certain. Not to say it's awful, but it's pretty cliché. The constant squeals of "Masuta!" get on my nerves a bit too. I'm still gonna watch it all the way through though, and it's in no way dampened my love for the toyline.

The opening fight with Eukrante versus Strarf was awesome though, and made me even more excited for when Lavina arrives in the post. All hail Strarf.

Speaking of which, it occurred to me; once Lancamento and Strarf Lavina arrive I'll have 3 Shinkis, but I really ought to give them some names besides their "model names". I'm thinking Clara for Espadia and Lola for Lancamento, but I'm not sure what I'm gonna call Lavina. Something demonic like Baal or Orobas perhaps?

>>
>>5566353
Oh god, now I'm worried. Poor Ines.

Anyway, here's a question/thought experiment for you guys. If you were directing a new Busou Shinki anime, how would you do it?

I had 2 ideas. The first was for a light and fluffy slapstick comedy centred around a Shinki collector/otaku and his constantly bickering collection of Shinkis, who (much to his eternal annoyance) are perpetually battling for his attention. Antics would include
>Grapprap trying to build something for Master, only for her work to be constantly demolished by Fort Bragg's artillery shells
>Bright Feather injecting some kind of hallucinogenic into anther Shinki's jelly can to embarrass them in front of Master
>Sharatang and Baby Razz engaging in a kind of musical battle which creates such a racket that Master locks them both in a display cabinet until they stop playing

My other idea...(continued next post)

The show made me buy Fubuki
>>
(Continued from >>5566325)...was a post-apocalyptic epic saga entitled Busou Shinki: Armageddon. Humanity has all but destroyed itself through war, yet the world continues on, driven by the leftover AI that replaced most manual jobs. Shinkis live amongst the ruins of civilization, fighting for territory, resources, or simply revenge against those they for some reason perceive were responsible for the deaths of their masters. It'd be pretty grimdark but not "edgy" per se (I hate edgefaggotry) and would have comedic elements. In addition, most of the featured Shinkis would be modeled on custom builds/non-stock figures, thus keeping the "Buy these toys!" factor without being too much like a merchandise driven cartoon. In an ideal world it'd have music by Susumu Hirasawa.

I might even do these as photocomics when I have more Shinkis. Maybe.

Hmm your question gives me an idea. I wonder how well shinki themed game of Maid RPG would go over with the folks of this general. Obviously some, ok probably most, of the tables would need to be altered to better befit a shinki. Perhaps two forms of generating characters, either use a randomly generated full production shinki with some possible random variations in demeanor, or full on custom shinki down to weaponry and color.

Would prolly require a good bit of thought as to how faithful one would want the modification to be to actual shinkis, but the heavy free form nature of Maid seems to be perfect for it and of course the massive similarities between a maid and a shinki in the first place helps too.

Busou Shinki Battle Rondo was a thing.
>>
>>5566834
I did not play that, only seen clips of the battles, so forgive me if there was more to it then what I am assuming there is.

Maid RPG is a very different thing, to start with its not even a video game like battle rondo, it's a tabletop like DnD. Second battling is not a major focus of it unlike (I assume) battle rondo, ever seen anime in which maids appear, particularly the ones that focus on the maids like say hayate combat butler? You play those maids in Maid RPG, heck the anime of busou shinki in general tends to match a lot of those same sort of things.
you are a maid trying to please her master, see the similarities?
>>
>>5566860
Though Maid kinda starts out with the characters going on a shopping trip in the morning and ending up fighting off giant crabs and sentinent icebergs around teatime...
>>
>>5566891
So in the shinki version you would probably fight a normal sized crab which still is giant to your 6 inch frame. Off top of my head the shinkis dealt with a random racing match, creepy ghost owned shinki, and a has to stop a 'bomb' from exploding a plane. Sounds like typical Maid sessions really.
>>
>>5566454
Yeah, terrorism seems pretty incredibly common in the world of Busou Shinki for whatever reason.

They're not too different from other kits, and actually look pretty decent as straight builds. If you plan on doing a straight-build, just pick up some cheep random gunpla kit. Really practice and get in habit of cleaning sprues.

If you really want to put the extra love into it, I suggest picking up an exact-o/ hobby knife, some plastic-cement and some high-grit sand paper to hide and smooth out seams.

Don't paint unless your comfortable with your skill, you can always revisit things later.
