January Challenges:
>Day after the New Years party. Make a diorama of your characters hungover as shit and shocked at the things they did the night before.
>Take a new 2016 set and build something ONLY using pieces from it.
>Benis (Best Entry: Ninjas in Swimwear)
>Freedom is great. Build a diorama of a villain escaping prison or guarded transport with/without the help of henchmen.
>A bar for your minifigs to drink at for the New Years party.
>Finish that unfinished MOC from 2015!
>>5388952
I still wonder whether it was Nick or TLG who decided to drop LEGO Spongebob (and then LEGO TMNT).
Do all of you display your Lego at all times?
I don't have that much space in my apartment so I only take them out when I want to play with them.
>>5388931
Not that guy, and maybe you're trolling, or maybe I'm just an out of touch old man, but I had never heard of left shark until today.
As far as CMF designs being influenced only by what's relevant or popular, just look at this guy.
>>5388977
They often do themes for a couples years and drop them. We could have gotten 10 more LOTR sets over 2 years easily, but it was to promote the hobbit movie and that's it.
>>5389050
To be fair, I hadn't either and I'm
>>5388004
It just seemed obvious to me what they were referencing with this minifig once I looked up both things.
I was going over something with my wife later and still had left shark open in a tab -just the image- and she goes "what's with the left shark?" Apparently she heard ALL about it cause it was all oer facebook and all that.
And she's old.
So I guess even old people can be down with pop culture?
>>5389050
It was a social media thing. It only lasted for a couple of days, but for those days it was all over Facebook and Twitter. If you're not the type to use those networks, it wouldn't be surprising that you didn't see that sort of thing.
I think that Holy Grail is much, much more popular than some SNL skit. Monty Python is internationally popular; SNL is relatively limited to the US. I mean, sure, we watch it outside of the US and the more controversial/successful skits make it to popular media but I don't think that it's a phenomenon in the same way that Monty Python is, or even that Left Shark was for a couple of days.
So, a reasonable person must ask themselves a question: is it more likely that Lego based a CMF on something that was immensly popular all over the internet, with their target demo, within the last 24 months, or is it more likely that they based something on an SNL skit that 95% of their consumer-base probably hasn't seen?
I don't mean to rant, but the whole 'muh millenials' thing coming from older people is embarrassing. I'm not young, either; I just understand that not everything is targeted at me. See: Minecraft Lego.
>>5389050
Also, I want that minifig but I know I'd end up breaking the legs and the arms popping them in and out so much...
Anyone else ever have issues with torsos and waists? Belts? Hips? What do you call the piece the legs are attached to? anyway, anyone ever have issues with those parts breaking when popping arms and legs out?
>>5389024
I actually really love that jar of minifigs, I might steal that idea
>>5389095
It's the only thing I had available for them. I figure aside from stepping on them or something, a minifigs greatest enemy is dust.
A jar is good enough.
Do any of you with small apartments or not enough space still display some legos? if so how?
My first lego set haha, cost me 12$, but i'm starting to love legos again. My second lego set is the big bang theory set (i don't care of the show is shit). I'm thinking about getting one of those lots thats sells from ebay by pound.
>MFW finally finishing putting together the Doctor Who kit
My first actual kit in a long fucking time. I didn't expect 600 pieces to take me anywhere near as long as it did but damn it was satisfying.
>>5389084
It's most likely that the shark is based on neither of those thing. Like the pig or the unicorn.
>>5389126
I built mine today too.
>>5389024
i have a limited amount of space i use, some things get rotated through
theres a "mixel" area, the standard rotation area, and a smaller new hotness area
>>5389168
>It's most likely that the shark is based on neither of those thing. Like the pig or the unicorn.
That's what I thought.
>>5389113
I basically just have a book shelf with a mix of actual books and legos, I have a mix of Bionicles and system so it just rotates with my mood
>>5389059
>D2C
>verymuch adult oriented
>filled with fucking vehicles which shit up the actual building and the price
ghostbusters firehouse didnt come with a fucking bustercopter you cunts
>>5389264
To be fair, the firehouse is based on the first movie and there was no copter in that.
>>5389264
The vehicles aren't just random shit though, they're all pretty important
>>5389264
The Batcopter and Batmobile are pretty damn iconic parts of the 66 series though.
>>5389282
Maybe they can't make a straight up series. The merchandise rights to this were only just worked out.
This might be the one thing they can make so they wanted it to cover as much as possible.
>>5389126
too bad about the price, and that it's nothing like the original. it's also the worst version, but that's my own opinion.
>>5388952
Just discovered my oldest minifig: a busted-up black Futuron dude with no helmet, no hands, one arm and no legs.
Gonna fix him up with two peg-legs and a pirate's hook, and one of those robot arms from the collectable minifig robot,
I figure I might as well embrace the whole "triple amputee" thing.
Well, they've been out for a week and I've got all but four. I've saved the biggest for last and I'm glad I did. The anticipation has been great!
I'd set them up and pose for you guys or something but so much of it gets taken apart and mixed up when my kid and I play with them. Now that I think about it, I don't really get time to do anything with any of these on my own...
Kings mech is the BEST. It's been getting ALL of the play since we got it.
>>5389306
Picture related...
>>5389306
I can't find Nexo Knights fucking anywhere.
All I want is the mecha horse and that lava waifu, but I guess it's not meant to be.
>>5389084
Even still, they've done lots of animals in costumes, why not a shark?
>>5389310
How's the beastmaster set? Not sure if I wanna shell out the cash for it when I'm only really interested in Macie.
Might be worth getting more than one king mech.
>>5389319
Yeah, sure. I was just arguing with the dingus who lamented millennials and implied that more people would know about his obscuro SNL skit from eighty years ago than a popular, current meme.
>>5389320
Beast master set is fun... You twist the round brick the chains are attached to back and forth and it makes the chain chomps up front snap their jaws. It's also (as far as I know) the only set besides the 100$ fortrex that come with the little globlin badguys.
>>5387896
The one of the new robbers has the perfect mustache.
Have any,of you guys ever purchased stuff on Bricklink from outside the country? I'm looking to grabs few of the older technic sets and have never ordered anything on Bricklink. Is the process fairly painless?
>>5389343
I've gotten three so far, soon to be four. I didn't bother trying to be efficient with my purchases but this little squad of red beefcakes are great mooks for lavafu.
>>5389310
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9RV4UfRVLc
It's good to be king.
>>5387948
To be completely honest I can only make something like five at once now with the parts I have on hand, and some would have to be modified versions of existing characters or else original designs (not that that isn't a good thing, I guess!)
>>5388035
At this point I wouldn't be surprised if it's something like forty now. I just don't know. Some aren't up to my standards though so I guess they don't count? I'll have to count them.
Perhaps I have a problem in that I really like to order parts in large quantities. Another its that seemingly common parts like tan spout pieces used for thumb joints are surprisingly rare and therefore expensive, and I do mean expensive. Still, at least I should be able to make miss rabbit from a little while back with what I have.
http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=4599#T=S&C=2&O={"color":2}
>>5388048
Large bricks are always useful for buildings (duh), but I find they're also useful for filling out the inside of large brick built MOCs, something that smaller parts just don't cut.
>>5388184
You don't send the items until the guy has sent you the money you ask for via the invoice you send him. This is common practice as far as I can tell, and if any funny business comes up Bricklink has a mod system for it.
>>5389362
Throw a remorseful-looking fig in pic related or one of these http://img.bricklink.com/PL/973pb0226.jpg and you're halfway there.
>>5389342
LEGO PORNO!!!
lads, chance to buy the first at-at 4483, complete with figs, worth it? I know I loved it as a kid.
>>5389342
>new LEGO prisoner's old-fashioned mustache
Well-played TLG
>>5389400
>cross breading AT-AT's to make the best walker
Do it anon do it for yourself you've earned it.
>>5389362
I dunno, I'm much more fond of Capaldi and Smith. My only irk is that the Capaldi costume they used is such a gaudy purple. The coat from his regeneration episode was a much darker shade.
Any word on when the new Elves sets come out?
>>5389446
February or March. More likely March.
So what's this about a possible Star Wars Rebels Captain Rex AT-TE set?
Cause iv'e been debating buying the older version and modding it to look like his from the series.
I was supposed to be in bed an hour ago but I got distracted as I was cleaning up all the books I laid out on the floor...
>>5389326
Which reminds me, the super bowl this year will be bringing back the shark in some way, I can't say how, but it's happening.
>>5389479
you bought the set with Jestro?!
I'm really digging the jet-bike cyber-steeds.
>>5389485
>you bought the set with Jestro?!
Sure did.
Fun observation: it looks like each of the spell books has a page in it that teaches the book of monsters to summon one of his generals or "scourges". Here you can see Flama (coming this summer, I guess.), a big demon guy, also coming out this summer and I think the spider one poking out is supposed to be Lavaria?
I wanna get a black cape for Lavaria to use as her "wings" as if they were softer and she could wrap them around herself like a cloak when not in use...
>>5389506
love these little balls with the faces on em
Waiting for my second FOT in order to make a correct one. Am I the only one here ?
>>5389506
One of the posters with insider knowledge at Eurobricks (amazingbricks) says that there's going to be a Ninjago CMF series next year to coincide with the movie.
>>5389543
Nah after seeing the incredible cross sections diagram I have been working on my own version that fits the right amount of troopers.
>>5389543
I'd buy another one if I could afford it but I doubt I'd use it to enhance my first one.
I'd probably end up bricklinking the parts to enhance both of them.
I feel like that the unannounced exclusive Nexo Knights Minifigure from the 2016 Calendar promo is an uncorrupted Jestro.
>>5389588
the what from the what?
>>5389594
This thing, from last month's promo.
Spend $75 to get this thing, and the main draw are the coupons.
The silhouette looks like Jestro, but we already have him, so it's probably the version of Jestro with pastel blue and purple.
>>5389596
That silhouette has bulky armor, and the headpiece only barely resembles a jester's cap. Was he a Knight before corruption?
>>5389603
>he didnt see the show
>>5389596
Oh that calendar thing. They're not going to give a highly-desired figure through a promotion that mostly gave the coupons to clueless moms & dads who bought sets for Christmas and scalpers.
Last year the free coupon figs were the LEGO Store Employee and Hoth Han Solo polybags that had been given out previously and were leftover.l
>>5389608
>The helmet horns
probably just a visor tilted up.
>>5389616
Yeah, after posting that, I realized my mistake. Currently, it looks a bit like Clay, maybe?
>>5389621
Could be. Wouldn't be surprised if it was just a main NEXO Knight with an alternate expression or something.
>>5389310
why the fuck would you just buy a bunch of instructions
gawd ur a nerd
So I've been away for a few weeks, what does /lg/ think of nexo knights now that they're out?
I've been out of the loop on LEGO for a little while, but are there any LEGO store promos going on right now, or any good ones coming up soon?
>>5389647
transcolours make me erect.
>>5389647
Only opened and built two sets and one Ultimate figure pack so far, Clay's Rumble Blade, Lance's Mecha Horse, and Ultimate Lavaria.
I have Fortrex sitting in my living room unopened and Merlock's Library, Infernox Captures the Queen, and the King's Mech en route from LEGO shop@home.
Clay's Rumble Blade is fucking amazing. Fun fun fun build and the vehicle is way cooler than I expected. Going in, based on the pics I almost just built Clay's sword speeder ship but I'm glad I did the whole thing. The finished model is really awesome and feels almost like some sort of Mad Max vehicle.
Lance's Mecha Horse was a surprisingly complex build for a $20 set, and though I liked it a lot from the pics before building it(it was my most-anticipated set besides Fortrex) in hand it's a bit... wobbly? Loose? Dunno how to describe it. The transformation feature really hobbles both designs. It feels like a half-transformed Transformer. Like if you shake it stuff moves all over. It doesn't hold it's shape well in either form. LOTS of new pieces on it though.
Overall I love the theme. The colors are some of my favorite LEGO colors, the minifigs are all 10/10 so far.
>>5389647
>dat blue and clear orange
I wanna take the mecha horse and turn it into an Ice Planet-themed reindeer.
>>5389661
ah yes, the dead theme only 90s kids care about
I love the little grunts.
>>5389667
That's the one.
It's a good thing that I care about it, what with being a 90s kid and all. Sure would be strange if I was building something I had no emotional attachment to.
>>5389667
As opposed to the younger generation, who can't even be arsed to care about punctuating or capitalizing their own opinions.
>>5389651
>>5389656
>>5389671
Good vibes all around then! Also yeah, I'm super on the fence about the mechahorse. It looks very unrefined in some aspects. However it turned out to be a lot cheaper than anticipated so I might get it later down the line. I've only picked up 3 sets so far and am planning to get the beast master chariot thingy next. Having a ton of fun with the theme so far, it just works for me.
>>5389681
It's great that it finally gives me an excuse to use my castle pieces in the same MOCs as my space pieces.
>>5389647
I would get a bunch IF THEY WOULD ARRIVE HERE. Planning on getting the Ultimates and enough of the big sets to have full set of main knights.
Only 2016 stuff I've seen here is City and 30€ SW sets.
>>5389685
I'm in Australia, and I haven't seen them either. It's really frustrating, cuz shipping costs are INSANE.
My TARDIS was a $80 set, and I ended up paying half again just for fucking shipping. Grumble, grumble...
>>5389685
>enough of the big sets to have full set of main knights
Even Fortrex for Axel?
>>5389687
The best information I have is that the next Star Wars wave hits here on the 13th/14th, and Nexo will be mid-Feb.

>Not having the best villain in STAR WARS since Vader on constant display.

>no female figures on the cover
LEGO YOU HAD ONE JOB!
Why lego is so mysoginistic?!
>>5389793
i dont know about anything else but that head looks EXACTLY like that GlaDos head. so search for GlaDos lego version and see what head they used for it.
other parts are pretty self explanatory i think. mixels parts and tubes for those red limbs.
Just built the new Batmobile set and it's pretty nice for 30 bucks, bunch of Kryptonite crystals, a neat little forklift, some Luthor/normal people mooks and a nice bat-car. The doors are tight as shit though and initially wouldn't move up without tearing the set-up apart, it's a nightmare but it's worth it cause it looks bretty gud
>>5389801
>no female figures on the cover
>Why lego is so mysoginistic?!
Take you CIS gender standards and die you scum!
How do you know that one of those elfs aren't female. How do you know that anyone on that cover conform to your horribly narrow minded views of gender?!? Maby the surfer identifies as a non-binary duel female, maby xir doesn't like that you look at xir and don't see the beautiful woman that xir is. What if the Living Impaired minifigure is gender neutral, but prefers feminine pronouns and adverbs.
You need to check your binary gender-privileged!!!!
the most expensive polish Toy Store have Nexo Knights on sale.
if you're ready to pay 40% more for them now here's your chance!
>>5389002
>Hey at least these came with weapons OTHER than stud shooters...
You are right. The shooter is a nice gimmick, but this set is clearly about minis, so it still bugs me.
I like that they added in Nexo Knight some soldiers.
But i think there are too many Aarons.
>>5389836
this why i love legbutt threads!
>>5389084
>your text
i like your opinion
>>5389050
And yes, here in germany monty phyton is still very popular. Because the films are regular on tv. the show is more for insiders.
But we never had SNL on Tv or regular. For a short time i think they had some newer seasons on tv. But as i remember after this not as reruns on prime channels.
From my insights, we now here what it is, but just in "an american sketch/parody show" way.
>>5389839
oh boy, any news when are normal polish stores gonna get them?
>>5389185
I like his work.
Its good, but his mini fig wouldnt be lego anymore.
That would be action figures and not customisable minis.
But hios ideas and stuff is amazing.
>>5389685
>full set of main nights
Axel is 100$
His ultimate version should be coming out this summer, though.
>>5389855
>lego will never have figures with this much of articulation
I finally have time to play video games and build the sets I ordered. Just finished the Dr. Who level and now doing the Level Pack Dr. Who level.
Really like how Benny's ship is made and the Krusty bike is smooth as fuck.
Also Benny'so classic Lego face really makes me wish for a Lego game with classic faces and pieces only.
Like Lego City Undercover, but with the animation of Lego Movie.
>>5389671
That's a big mech guy...
>>5389115
I love this set. Great variety of figs and pieces.
>>5389772
Those customers look a little young, anon...
Also Nexiknights look sick.
>>5388952
Speaking of licensefaggotry, I found a store that had two of these at an ever so slightly reduced price (6% off, according to my math), and bought one of them.
I had been looking for something that would not look out of place in a naval battle against my 70413, so it was a pleasant surprise.
Should I go back and look for the other one? I hear the set is technically retired.
>>5389506
No, the spider guys are a unique monster akin to the globlins it seems. You can see a couple in the character gallery for Whiparella.
>>5389864
>lego will never have figures with this much of articulation
>>5389886
Why exactly doesn't Lego produce Technic figs anymore, anyway?
>>5389891
Most people that like them weren't Technic fans. Most Technic fans just wanted the builds and didn't give a fuck about the figures.
>>5388952
It sucks that LEGO never used the licence to full potential. While Mega Bloks isn't the best, I'm picking up they're classic TMNT minifigs and sets.
Long story short I have this MOC here than I am attempting to give a coworker as a house warming gift. It's gonna be pretty epic. I ordered the parks off BL and have the LXF file done.
Here's the problem, I am pretty good at LDD but have never made instructions from there. I know the ones it generates suck, I have followed them on some of their instructions for my 600+ piece MOCs. That was fine b/c I knew what I was doing and am versed in Lego.
This gift on the other hand is for someone who has not put a set together in 20 years... ANYWAY... I would be willing to pay if someone could pdf me a file of instructions from a supplied LXF file. Or if anyone has any tips on this, I would be more than happy to do it myself, but it looks incredibly complicated...
Thanks in advance, I have a bit of time (until the end of the month) but I am not sure that would be enough for me to get it done (new dad mode = kill)
>>5389543
>>5389549
I ended up BL the parts to make mine longer. Only cost about $30. I'll post results. They should be here today! ! !
>>5389927
Some of the components seem pretty simple, maybe if you tried making a single instruction set for the repeated component that forms the four sides of the tower it'd be easier to work with.
>>5389927
You could try this: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=108346
>>5389915
Second. That game would have been great. I got the party wagon so far and it's pretty great! I just need my TRU to stock the Krang suit and I'll be set
>>5389935
So I thought the same. There are 4 sides, in two pairs, so one set of instructions there, a pillar up the middle, and the base, so a total of 4 instructions two of which need to be repeated.
I've done everything I could, tried making groups and subgroups, split each part into it's own ldd file. Ldd still insists on build from the top down and out of order.
It's no big deal to me, but it'll confuse the person I'm try I g to give it to
>>5389939
Holy shit that might work!
>>5389934
Same, mine have just been dispatched :D
>>5389952
Mine were due yesterday ... That feel when waiting for BL orders.....
>>5389939
How have I never found this it is a god sent!
>>5389956
Yeah, but it's worth it in the end. Do you know how to get proper instructions up, because otherwise I'll be stuck studying the LDD file and pictures and just going off on a limb to build mine.
>>5389975

>That falcon minibuild
Nice to see a new build and not the same old advent calendar one.

It's gonna be tedious, but why not take screenshots of the model in various states of its build?
>screenie the final model
>remove pieces a b and c
>screenie that model
>remove pieces d e and f
>etc
With the build as simple as it is, I don't think you'd need anything fancy.
As a somewhat collector, the only reason I picked up the Gorilla Grodd set was (for the grodd, of course) and for the Batmech, because of course, it had batman. and despite how godawful it looked, and was, I got it anyways.
Now, how do i fix this thing up? It feels like the designers just said fuck it halfway through, and the set would have felt better without the "batmech" all together.
>>5389126
>mfw the set's great but the build is fucking boring
How did you enjoy that build anon? You're just repeating the same steps over and over.
>>5388977
Can't say for sure, but when Spongebob came out, it was only two sets along with two from Avatar. That summer release was a test to see which theme would be more successful; Spongebob won and ATLA was releagated to a two-set footnote in the annals of Lego history.

Warcraft LEGOS NEVER
I took some shitty pictures of Lavaria with different hair/hats.
http://imgur.com/a/2yeCg
I've decided that the slicked back Bruce Wayne/General Zod hair is the sexiest option.
>>5389878
It is. And the undead minifigs sell for a good price.
Plus as a set it's fun as fuck.
>>5390029
As said, I was mainly looking for a set that would be a match for the Brick Bounty, not really the figs, but they are nice.
I have a cousin who's really into the Tolkien universe, maybe the figures end up as a small gift or something.
>>5389995
My first impulse was to try and add a back so he's not just open to attack from behind. Then I decided to just disassemble the whole thing and Batify Jay's Electro Mech.
My biggest gripe was the flimsy way the chest peice is attached and maybe there's a way to fix it but it just wasn't worth my time. Also net cannons are stupid.
>>5389972
So I thought about doing proper instructions for the additional section and then making the original red our something but after messing with it in ldd for a bit I decided it's probably going to be easier to look at the two side by side and play spot the differences... I did somewhat pull the model apart so I can see them both to compare

Glorious.

Keychain, love the bugge.
There's always some lego out displayed in my house and in my GF's house. (They've commandeered one of her shelving.)
Just noticed bootleg turtles are copied from ops concept art. Came with the same weapons.
>Take a new 2016 set and build something ONLY using pieces from it.

Love it.
I built this lady a few days ago or so.
Also, I did some counting, and not counting reverse-engineering projects (Tattun's lady, lingonkart's stuff, I've got at this point about 58 original lady creations. That's nice, I suppose.
>>5390144

It's nice but I still like the slick look.
I'm kind of not certain about her ponytail, because unless viewed from the side it isn't very prevalent. Removing it would allow me to smooth out the back of her head a bit more. Any ideas?

Fuck you people, convincing me to spend thirty bucks for a cute knight on a robo horse. Worth it. Don't know what to do with the angry testicles.

Cute. Form the front she almost looks like a waitress of some sort. Love the face and her eyeshadow.
>>5390171
shes a spoiled brat and only became a knight because of nepotism
I need some help in terms of what to buy for my 1699 kr (190.93 US Dollar). There's a lot of cool new themes as well as star wars sets out now, and I'd like to her some opinions on people buying the bigger sets.
There's this hobby store where I live which saves sets over time and jacks up prizes over time for their "rarity" (for example, old star wars sets start at retail prize, then when they get retired they can get more than double the prize.).
My girlfriend at the time knew I very much was fond of the Milano, but wasnt sure how much it was worth, and bought it at twice its normal cost, but I can return it and switch it for sets that match at least over the cost of the set.
I like the set, but paying 190 usd for 665 pieces is a tad bit too crazy for me, which is why I'd rather want my monies worth than have a novelty item.
Open for any suggestions in terms of what to use it on. I've herd the new millenium falcon might be worth it.
>>5390171
It is obvious.
>>5390173
Nah, man. She's totally capable and is constantly trying extra hard to prove herself and get out of the giant shadow her lineage casts over everything she does.
In the first episode of the show she almost doesn't get knighted because she's a princess, even though she earned it.

>>5389310
That king's mech will be mine this weekend after I make a trip to the Lego Store.
>>5390246
Well, I'm just counting the red ones, I guess... In the show you only ever see red ones and they're EVERYWHERE.
In the game the difference between red and orange is like the difference between zerglings and banelings in SC2. That is, red ones just try to bite you while orange ones try to self-destruct next you and blow you up with them.
I want more red ones and so far as I know, they're only in the beastmaster's pussywagon and the fortrex.

>I've seen the DIY lightbox setups but I just don't have that much space.
You don't need it, this is my setup for shooting minifigs and small stuff. There's another desk lamp off to the right.
Since I mentioned it just earlier, I have about 74 virtual figure MOCs not counting the reverse-engineered ones, of which there are about four. This is also counting males, of which there are about three or so.
So counting only girls I have about 71 MOCs? I hope I'm being accurate. Oh well. I probably got it wrong.

Dude, it´s not worth it. 3€ per magazine, that´s a CMF right there and those you could always sell for the same amount again. These magazines use fairly common pieces all the time, just get some by the pound lot for the same price as your subscription or however you imagine this going to work and you have a better deal if you just want random parts. The figures can always be bricklinked for a little more in the 2 cases in two years now where a figure was rare enough to warrant getting the magazine.

Nexo is probably as close as we'll get to 40k stuff. Excluding the CMF Marine and Space Ork.
>>5391272
Why did you bought all ultimates?
They are overpriced and besides having lava-waifu and robin as bait, its not a good line.
>>5391292
I like the look of all of them and am a minifig collector, primarily.
$10 for a minifig and some parts is not overpriced to me. I have no plans for buying any of the NEXO sets, becuase although they're pretty cool they don't appeal enough to me to drop money on them.
Lavaria, Robin, and Macy are easily the greatest. Robin is okay, Clay is okay. Beastmaster is ass and I'm not buying him.
I'm one of those guys who really just displays the LEGO he owns.
>>5391292

>>5391323
>The minifigs with a handfull bricks are 7$.
Yeah but I want the stand and the alternate looks, too.
$10 is pretty cheap for a minifig with some bricks.
I'm going to be spending upwards of $10 - 13 on both new Iron Men and Captain Marvel / Carol Danvers later this month anyways, and they're just figs. Contemplating Old Han for $14, definitely getting Rey for ~$6.50. $10 for a minifig and extra bricks to me is perfectly fine and a pretty good deal.

Honestly Executor is a different shade of whatever than the regular Star Destroyers, but LEGO doesn't make bricks in that shade
I mean it would look like ass in blue, dark blue, dark grey, or black.
Dark grey is probably the only passable color, but then the inside "city" would have to be in the only darker color, black, and you couldn't notice the details
etc etc

>>5391395
and your licensed Star Wars pandering is no different?
>>5391458

>>5391405
Dark gray plating with a city of black mixed with some dark blue might be ok.
It doesn't really matter though, the SSD looks completely light and dark gray throughout the battle of endor.
>>5391474
Yeah, grabbing things into a group and then hiding them to build other stuff is really useful.
I've never really designed anything in LDD over 500 pieces, ship-wise. Even at my big part counts, it's because of a lot of plates. That SSD was probably 500 - 600 pieces but there are a ton of plates and small bricks.
This guy is about 265 right now, which has me pretty hype. I'm still not satisfied.
>>5391484
It's a pretty hard thing to try and design right, yeah. LEGO went with light grey for the UCS one, so I just rolled with it. I think for detail it was probably the easiest, light grey versus dark grey was much easier to contrast than black / blue / dark grey.
I'll probably revisit it when I'm done with my KR Shuttle. The guy who put it together told me he had to make some modifications in order to keep it sturdy and swooshable, which I definitely knew he would have to do given I made it in LDD and I think the entire thing is plates and really stupid connections.
>>5391474

>>5391813
guy who said brickwarriors is pretty boss last time someone asked here
between the last time i bought them, and now (they have wave three out) i think they changed their production a bit
ALOT more of the bags had black pieces, more of the weapons came in dark grey instead of black, so that was good. but they completely removed the "random" color element
every single legion was black, alot of the people with colors, came in either black, or a single choice in color now
for example, the legion and ogre i got, both of their armors came in purple, dark red, black, and i think dark green
literally the only thing in their bags now is black armor.
its still good, and nice if you want certain things they have in the bag, but its definitely a step forward, and another back, since im not a fan of their black plastic
like he said though, TRU has them, if they arnt near the megablocks, they might have them near cmfs/blind bags in the same area. mine keeps it at the main counter since they're just as easily stolen

Dude, marry that girl!
Also what do you guys think of pic related? Do you ever buy sets that are 4x their original price?
I'm wondering if I should just bricklink the necessary pieces for the classic DeLorean.
>>5392320
I dont buy overpriced sets.
Its still mostly normal bricks. -> bricklinks & LDD
Can buy minis seperatly or if i really want them customized from other parts.
But im a cheap legotard, so its just my opinion.
What does /lego/ think of Rooney Mara?

>>5391915
I got a Winter Soldier while ordering in December.
I think I heard of them doing this for multiple years now. They just throw the overproduced lego.com gift polybags of the entire year into christmas orders and don´t tell anybody about it on the site to make it a surprise.
>>5392320
Bricklink the bits for a better DeLorean build (heaps of people have modified that one to look much nicer) and then get the minifigures from Dimensions because they look much better too.
Even with the ridiculous Dimensions prices I still think you'd save money.
>>5392354
Do you have somewhere you post your LDD files because i'd be really interested in taking a look at this stuff and maybe building the x-wing.
>>5392360

Wow. Just, WOW.
I'm pretty new to /toy/, only just recently getting back into Lego and all... And the board culture here keeps blowing me away. I'm so used to thinking of 4Chan as a whole being MEAN. I don't think any of the half dozen boards I normally frequent would have helped that guy out like that without making fun of him or at LEAST calling him names but here he gets HELP.
This board is great.

Sure, I'll post pictures of stormtrooper helmets over nexo armor, just send me any helmet you'd like that done with. I've been trying real hard to contain my contempt for Star Wars since I started reading the /lg/ threads only a few days ago but this is as good a time as any to say it.
I don't like Star Wars. I love sci-fi and think Star Wars is a pretty shit attempt at it. I also am morally opposed to Disney and avoid giving them money if I can, so when they bought the Star Wars franchise I was EVEN less interested in buying Star Wars Lego.
How's that for "shilling"?
>>5392469

Good taste.

/toy/ in general is more of a real hobby board. As much as I like video games, film, music, those boards are filled with genuine plebs and children that muck up the board.
>>5392489
Not cool ;__;
I'm probably going into my nearby LEGO store today, with $500 in hand. What should I buy?
It is sort of a toss-up between the Ghostbusters Firehouse and a handful of smaller sets, or the Modular bank, and a handful of medium sets.
Could nexo Knights be any more based?

I think two of this part http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=98834&in=S
would be good for the shield, connected with a Brickarms U clip if a bit big. It will even be available in white with the new city police car.

Never encountered too much problems there.
But it sounds more that you might be the problem.
I dont want to mock you, just the feeling that you have a certain expectation of users and dont accept others.
You must just filter more anon.
>>5392507
If you are a film fan, take the ghostbuster.
If you like diorama and everyday life, take the bank.
But to be honest i cant think of buy any of these big sets.
Only to recreate stories.

No.

>>5392514
Yes
Knights have nexo-animal totem powers (why not go full visionaries, could be cool for a console game and than they could make more animal brick sets.)
I loved the visionaries concept and show
And Season 2 The knights form a knights of the roundtable sort and Jestro builds an anti roundtable.
I regret not getting into the collectibles series, at the time I thought it was a tad expensive
Same for lego movie sets they make great army builders
I dislike how majority people only seem to buy sw, shit is entry level at best and lack of appreciation or even conversation for older sets
>>5392211
Technic U-Joint pieces have no friction and are intended to act like real life U-Joints
If you built that thing IRL it'd have floppy doll legs.
There's no reason to use the LDD backgrounds. Taking a screenshot even with the brick grid in the way, will produce a picture of your MOC with a transparent background.
Your robot body has arms, but it seems the 1x2 slopes are being placed on two stacked 1x1 plates rather than to hold down the 1x1 ball joint pieces.
Despite the yellow, nearly the entire robot is grey! This is up to you to change or not change.
The hands seem strange due to your choice of parts, and you have to extend the handles of items, it seems.
This last one's just an opinion, but
>fleshie head
>>5392592
What other color would it be?
>>5392586
Well, I would still like a pic now but it´s not worth pushing it because the idea is fairly obvious so somebody will post it sooner or later anyway.
The idea was giving the pearl dark grey Shadow troopers the nexo knight armor to bulk them up for a Dark Trooper. But the armor color is metallic silver, a shade too bright. Lego will probably take a few years until they recolor it that way and there are apprently 2 versions of the armor with either 2 or 4 studs on the back.
>>5392334
I have no idea who she is, but I like those printed pieces, so I guess she's ok.

The ghostbuster house just came out so it will be on the shelf for a while. If you like the bank then consider getting the other modulars as well since they'll start retiring them soon.

Nexo knights are fucking great. Just picked up Ultimate Macy and the only beef I have with the set is the fucking visor won't stay down (probably due to the trans parts being polycarb vs ABS or something) but I can fix that with nail top coat.
I also turned her mace into a flail (since the default red nexo shield shows flails, not maces).
Also: I am a prolific minimecha/MFZ builder, and those 1x1 pyramid studs from Nexo have me salivating.
Pic sort of related.

Reminds me of this guy.
>>5392677
Count me in on not knowing who your minor internet celebrity is, too.
So who is she?
>>5392677
yes, the big one beneath the pineapple.
And to be honest
i dont know all actresses.
And after searching what she did, never saw any movies of her.
She seems like a competent actress, got some sideroles and even some main.
Nothing special. But nothing bad neither.
Now the question is, why is /lego/-opinion important?
>>5392691
He skips leg day.
>>5392691
I thought of it as design style.
Besides if you saw any webisodes, Axl seems to be a cyborg. Look at his pit, its still a joint, like the small knight mechs.
What if he was injured and big from the start. They had to replace his lost body parts.
Maybe he said, at least i want to be stronger and bigger.
Now his legs were fine and his upper body was increases. Leaving him with unproportional legs?
>>5392680
These are really great, especially for their scale.
>>5392716
Interesting, I didn't know that.
But wouldn't that mean his legs need to be remade too, to support the extra weight?
I guess they could have internal mods or be completely robotic but it still looks silly.
>>5392584
I don't have expectations. Just the overall taste of the boards is pretty weak as they're basically the the major and current forms of entertainment, so you have to many topics of the flavor of the month and not enough diverse discussion. On /toy/ there is always a mix of the different brands with both Japanese and western toys, series, types, etc.
On something like /v/ you get the recurring bait posts and 20 threads dedicated to one flavor of the month that should mostly be going to their respective /vg/ topic.
The fact that you have to filter discussion is just sad, in my opinion.
>>5392601
Old sets are expensive. They're price goes way up and it becomes cheaper to buy new sets.
Most new sets don't have the charm or imagination of older sets, but some are really good. Some of these new SW sets are pretty weak, and only the micro fighters and larger ships really appeal to me.
Also whut? Army building the Lego movie figs?

I've actually been finding some of the Movie sets at Target still. Managed to get the Metal Beard, Super Bike Chase, and Badcop Street Chase sets a couple weeks ago.
Was gonna try hunting down the drop ship thing too, but then got super into the Nexo Knight sets.

There's still tons of TLM sets around where I live.
>>5392745
>many topics of the flavor of the month and not enough diverse discussion
>The fact that you have to filter discussion is just sad
I meant these expectations.
For something not "flavor" of the month you go to /vg/ or /vr/.
>>5392756
I had my fun on /tv/ while star wars and holiday lasted.
The other boards are ok, it might that you have a certain degree of seriousness, but you cant expect that others chat like you do.
And there are always retards too. In a greater population, the amount of retards increase exponentinal.
/toy/ is rather small.
