Guy from last thread who bought all those sealed matoran. Anyone interested in a sealed Nidhiki or 2003 Matoro or Macku? Boxes are in really good shape.

Also got a brand new nui rama set a little while ago and it's lots of fun.

Alright, so after looking at the upcoming Tahu.

I hate his regular mask a shit ton.

The white\silver bit is an eye sore since it feels like it doesn't belong, but the Golden Kanohi he has makes it look a lot nicer. Why couldn't they just do a complete red mask or make it mostly red with a Golden highlight?

Absolutely fantastic set, get him while you can.

If you're a collector, it's pretty much the best Lego representation of Grievous ever.

If you're a MOCer, it's a fun build that uses some interesting techniques. You end up with that an imposing skeleton that can be reused for many things. It also has a lot of tan parts, rare bones and is the only sets with 4 lightsabers.

Honestly, Tahu is completely fine to me after I just accept that he is gold and trans orange rather than red. I feel like the design and proportions are solid and the "inconsistent textures' people are commonly complaining about on him doesnt bother me at all really, better than the generic look of this year.

I also find that I like him the 2016 Toa, Lewa is great but has weird shoulders and the same awful green color as always, but the rest all have some slightly odd proportions or something that just make me like Tahu all the more.

He still cant hold a candle to based Umarak, but whatever.

Also show off your Rahi Mocs.

>The Okoto Swamp Monitor is a very aggressive biomechanical lizard like Rahi, native to the swamps of the islands jungle region. It's nostrils are on the top of its head, and it's webbed feet make it an incredibly good swimmer and a danger to the natives of Okoto. Several villagers of the jungle region have told horror stories of encountering one of these Rahi in he wild. Vizuna recounts his first experience with one as part of his initiation ritual to becoming a protector - when asked for comment, he simply said "stab at the fleshy parts. It won't kill them, but it might hurt them enough to make them run". It's also important to mention that Vizuna was missing an arm at the time of this writing.

>>
ok but where is my purple eyestalk so I can make Makuta?
>>
>>5343774
Yeah, but at least he has functional hands. Function beats aesthetic when it gets right down to it.

I also love how loud Umarak's color scheme is- we have trans apple green, black, dark red, and dark tan all somehow making a vicious hunter. Maybe it's because it looks like he's draped in his kills.
>>
>>5343780
Makes sense - I can't even rebuild my Inika Jaller or Skrall because their limbs are FUBARd.

As for the Gresh limbs, they're holding up, but the side of one of them is cracked, and the other sides are starting to show lines.

I don't think I've had single transparent joint crack, when almost every other 06-09 joint has.

>>
>>5343933
As was the case in the prelims, the only part that truly bothers me is his lower arms, which I am going to fix using parts from Master of Stone.

What I dont understand is why they made the dark tan recolor for the vorox armor on Ketar, but didnt use it anywhere else except in that one set (a set where a silver vorox armor would have worked fine)
>>
>>5343933
Had they just used burnt orange
on the thighs and lower arms he
would have looked WAY better. But it's an easy fix.
>>
>>5343960
Im probably going to be putting the dark tan on his lower arms and putting burnt orange on his thighs, can't really know how it will look in practice yet, but I feel like the color distribution will be okay that way since he has burnt orange on his upper arms.
>>
>>5343892
>>
>>5343954
Yea if anything silver would have been better on it. Doesn't really make sense that they didn't use the dark tan on pohatu considering it exists, solely for one piece usage. Guessing they'll probably use it a bunch on a summer set. If not it's a complete waste.

I just don't see why they think it's ok to use NINE colours on one character.
Seems like they genuinely do not give a shit about brown characters at this point because they sell poorly and just used pohatu as an outlet to get rid of excess parts.
It's really fucked considering how beautiful 01-03 colour schemes were. I remember thinking about how appealing they appeared because of the nice colour coordination even when I was a kid.

Like. I sort of get sending free sets to BZPower or Eurobricks, since they get a lot of traffic apparently. What I don't get, is why send all of sets to a single person at BS01 TOO?

Like FUCK, Lego. Why not maybe send review samples to at least one with capable photography and reviewing skills?
>>
>>5343993
No, because the images are shit. Just wait for EB or BZP to do a review of him.
>>
>>5343428
How much for the Matoro?
>>
>>5344007
apparently if you are a reputable fansite you just contact lego and request them and they give them to you.

I don't understand why BZPower has the review staff they do though, a good portion of them are either terrible at photography, have horrifying, grating voices, or both.
>>
>>5344023
>a good portion of them are either terrible at photography
And somehow better than the guy on Biosector
>>
>>5344027
I just dont understand, you could take a random screencap at any point in one of Jang's video reviews and it would probably have better lighting / posing / framing than the images they manage to come up with for these reviews (who takes a look at these pictures and thinks "Yes, this is okay to publish, no need redoing this shot again and putting the least bit of effort into it")
>>
>>5344011
Like seriously, though. Who's bright idea was it to send this idiot every new set? How much brown-nosing did this faggot accomplish to deserve that kind of attention from Lego? And how do his shitty pictures actually help Lego in any way?

I'm not even jealous, either. I don't want these sets. I'd just prefer them to have been sent to someone who actually has qualifications, or at the very least knows what the fuck they're doing.
>>
>>5344035

>>
>>5344033
And Jang's content reeks of over-clean bleach, but you can't dismiss his video and audio quality.
>>
>>5344046
Super generic from a review perspective, but in terms of actually seeing what the sets look like and what they can do, it somehow manages to be better quality than most of these text reviews that should be able to produce stunning images considering they are working with stills.

Out of all the BZP reviews, the only ones I find even remotely acceptable are Onua's and Umarak's, the others have images that a drunk 9 year old with a polaroid could outdo.
>>
>>5344045
It's not as bad as you're acting. Just a little out of focus and silly lighting.

Posing is pretty bad though
>>
>>5344045
>>5344056

Yeah, posing is shite, but some of the sets look good enough to overcome that. Lewa and Uxar in particular are gorgeous.
>>
>>5344046
It just baffles me how Lego could send these sets to BZPower, BS01, or even Eurobricks before Jang.

I checked the website traffic for all of those places, and they barely even compare to the kind of views Jang gets on every single one of his videos. Isn't sending out review samples a marketing strategy? Why pass up that kind of viewership and quality over a shitty corrupt fanbase?
>>
>>5344061
The sites you mentioned request them, and because they meet some sort of fansite requirements or something are sent them for free. (im still disgusted by that Umarak review where they say "I dont have the mask of Creation because I wasnt sent that set free from lego")

Jang refuses to accept free sets and waits until he can find them in stores.
>>
>>5344061
Because the last time they sent Jang sets early (Scooby Doo), he said he wouldn't review them until they actually came out at his local stores.

Then, again, a bunch of other people got the Scooby Doo sets early, so it wasn't much of a loss.

TL;DR
>>5344064
>Jang refuses to accept free sets and waits until he can find them in stores.
>>
>>5344064
>"I dont have the mask of Creation because I wasnt sent that set free from lego"

The cringe and disrespect is real.
>>
>>5344064
>>5344069

I mean, at least lie and say you don't have it with you.

Not buying the product that you review, especially something awesome and integral, like Ekimu plus Kulta, is just sad.
>>
>>5344060
Lewa has YELLOW axles. It somehow works when by all accounts it shouldn't.
>>
>>5344079
Really it just paints the picture that this guy doesn't actually buy any of the sets and just reviews whatever he gets for free.

I know this sounds a bit petty, but It ends up being really frustrating when you're someone like me who scouts around all the stores every day ready to buy all the sets the moment you see them, and then you have these guys out there who got them all weeks early for free and don't have any intention of spending any money on them.
>>
>>5344083
Honestly looking at the same axles on Uxar, they look to be Keetorange, not yellow (or Uxar's horns are also yellow, whatever). They work well on Lewa I think because his chest printing features the same color, so it becomes a light accent color like Tahu's dark azure and Umarak's dark red.
>>
>>5344087
and then they don't even do the set justice by taking correct picture because they're too fucking dumb to get a good comprehensive angle with at least one comparison shot and a turn around. I mean even if you didn't get to keep the sets like what happened to me once, at least try your best for the sake of the readers.
>>
>>5344064

>being this butthurt about bzp getting free sets
okay
>>
>>5344509
I think specifically they're more butthurt that the people getting free sets early are unappreciative douches.
>>
>>5344509
I mean, I think we're all a little bit butthurt about BZP and other sites getting free sets before they're officially released, but when a reviewer states they don't have a set specifically because Lego hasn't given it to them, then there's a problem, even if it was a joke.

Had he not owned the set, he could simply say so.
He could have lied and said it was at a different place to where these pictures were taken.
He could have 'forgotten' entirely about mentioning the MoCr, and default to one of the first two options when someone inevitably brought it up.

When I watch/read a reviewer, I want that person to be excited and interested in whatever they're reviewing. I don't want calls of flawless perfection from everything, but I also want the reviewer to actually like the topic they're reviewing.

This is even more important for a site that, until recently, was dead in the water until Bionicle 2015 information was first leaked. Bionicle Zone Power lives and dies on Bionicle news, and having reviewers that don't seem to care about Bionicle only hurts the website.
>>
>>5344539
which set are they even talking about (that he didn't get?)
>>
>>5344540
Mask Maker vs Skull Grinder, aka Ekimu vs Kulta.

The premier set of the 2015 line and the summer wave, containing Ekimu the Big Good, Kulta the leader of the Skull baddies, and the legendary and fabled Mask of Creation, the first official image and symbol of Bionicle 2015.

Despite it running a relatively high price tag ($30) for a single set, it's integral to lore, a good value for your money, and generally a fun and useful box of parts.
>>
>>5344539
This. It's a spit in the face to Bionicle fans everywhere if the people who are privileged enough to get the sets early AND for free don't even seem to care about them. There are people out there practically begging just to see pictures of them, never mind own them early, so it's a real let down when they're being given away to some douche who doesn't even care to own any sets that aren't handed to him on a silver platter.
>>
>>5344554
>>5344540

And look, had he just said he didn't have the set, that'd be fine. I can't judge people on their financial situations.

But he specifically said he didn't have it because Lego hadn't handed it to him, as if expecting Lego to jump up and send him a copy.

It shows a huge lack of class and disrespect to not only Lego who generously send them sets, but also to the people who read their reviews and the rest of the staff/mods on BZPower.
>>
Times like this make me wish Lego would restart the Proto-Squad. Send me a free Onua and an exclusive tee and I'll gladly promote the fuck out of him.

>>

All the Toa and Protectors are pretty solid, though Vizuna (Jungle) Korgot (Earth) and Nilkuu (Stone) are the best protectors.

As for the Toa, Tahu is a bit gappy, Pohatu is tiny, and Lewa has no meaningful neck articulation, but they're all pretty good. Onua while short and stocky is near perfect, Gali is the best $15 Toa, and Kopaka wears his armor like a fur coat.

For the summer sets, Scorpio is a fun technic build but useless after that, Slicer has nice bones and unique gears, Basher has a pretty good bashing mechanic and is also purple, Warrior I don't have yet (Christmas gift though) but he seems solid if generic, and Mask maker v Skull grinder is the star of the year, having Ekimu, Kulta, and the Mask of Creation!

If you can spring $5 extra (from MMvSG's $30) get General Grevious. He has an awesome build, is MASSIVE, and comes with tons of tan shells.
>>
>>5344835
Thanks a lot. It's been a long time since I followed everything that came out, I have to catch up.
>>

I second getting Skull Grinder (Kulta) vs. Mask Maker (Ekimu)

It gives you the big bad of the wave, the 'Mata Nui/Takanuva' guy of G2 and the first legendary mask - which is one of the best masks ever designed by The Lego Company, in my humble opinion
>>
>>5344791
Well I kinda get them, since for TLG it seems the focus for CCBS are the add-ons rather than the shells, because the less new parts they made, the more they can recycle them.
I always say that CCBS has a lot of potential, and I think TLG also knows this but prefer to go with a slower pace of innovation, seeing as we get very few unique pieces each year (mecha cockpits with IFB, gearboxes with 2015 G2, and now entire torsos with 2016)

Danke.

But I'm also waiting to put 2016 Onua's spare studs on the hammer and swap the torso shells with trans-purple as well. I tried to make an Ekimu and Makuta that are 1:1 in build and colorscheme. The only real difference is they have are Makuta's trans biceps and Ekimu's crystal gauntlets. The black bones make the trans parts pop really well and it helps them look more like their animation counterparts than 2015 Ekimu did.

(This pic was before I bought Makuta's black six shooter casing)

>>
>>5345260
Christ, the amount of replacement part forms I filled on Lego's website was staggering. I've gotten into a habit of buying them in bulk off Bricklink for when I'll need them. What was it that made 2006-2008 particularly bad with them?
>>
Any other European shop, physical or E-Shop confirmed to have new sets? (specifically wondering about Hungary)
>>
>>5344945
OH FUCK

Does this make creatures £8?

Kopaka seems like rip now tbqh
>>
>>5345336
I think it was just poorly-designed sockets. I'm pretty sure the lime plastic problem was caused by microscopic air bubbles in the plastic, meaning that System parts were affected as well. Instead of fixing the 2008 socket problem right away, we had to endure three years of broken parts. The Glatorian head mould was used for four of the six Hero Factory series. I wish the Brain Attack head was released in trans neon orange to replace my broken Glatorian heads.
>>
>>5345348
What bothers me most about the 2008 socket design faults is that they redesigned the sockets only to have them be more fragile, if they were redesigning the sockets, they should have done thorough testing to create ones that would not break (we know this is possible from the CCBS sockets). Even if somehow their fragility got past testing, they should have immediately gone back to the old style used in 2007 when they realized all the problems the new sockets had.
>>
>>5345199

>>
>>5345356
I'm just glad that the CCBS sockets are harder than me while browsing my Korgot folder. Has anyone had a cracked CCBS part yet? The most I've seen is one anon who broke a Skull Spider leg while making some illegal connections.
>>
>>5345361
As far as I have seen, almost nobody (nobody at all that I have seen) has managed to crack a CCBS socket without actually trying to do so. All sockets from Hero Factory 2.0 and onward are basically as durable as a Lego System brick.

Can the guy who keeps pretending to be black six just fuck off forever? You are without a doubt the worst contributor to this thread.

Anyone have any planned fixes for some of the issues with the 2016 sets? I'm probably going to add in a 4x1 smooth system plate onto the sides of Umarak's lower legs (with one little small gray pin (probably stolen off Tahu Uniter) this is easy to do) to cover up most of the blue pins since they are the main issue with the lower leg build and I dont own any extra black pins.

Also going to move the orange vorox armor from gali's thigh and add it to her torso to make her upper body symmetrical, then put her 2015 upper lego armor sideways onto both her upper legs with the crystal piece on that.

Pohatu is the easiest, where you just get rid of those two trans-neon green shells from his lower arms and then put on some burnt orange ones (or put them on his legs and put the dark tan shells on his lower arms).

The sets are far from perfect, but I feel like most of the fixes are really easy if one has their 2015 counterparts.
>>
>>5345344
Don't they usually come out around Feb-March?

Anyway, all stores I've checked are still trying to get rid of this year's stocks. A lot of places still haven't lowered their prices for the '15 winter sets, so there's plenty of these things still on shelves.
>>
>>5345390
And here's the other part.

>>5345348
I think I heard somewhere that the '08 sockets were designed to not lose as much friction when they crack, not to be less prone to cracking. Still sucks though.
>>
>>5345392
In hindsight, that was a stupid question. I'd guess 2013 though due to Chi Worriz' weapon being connected to it.

Here's a question:

So constraction is what the whole side of lego that doesn't really involve bricks is called, right? Bionicle gen 1 is constraction, but is hero factory/bionicle gen 2/CCBS also considered constraction?

bear with my idiocy here.
>>
>>5345444
Out of the hundreds I have it's the only one, though.

The trans-neon claws that are on sets like Splitter Beast, Fire Chi Laval, Pyrox, etc. are much more fragile and a lot of mine have developed cracks/stressmarks but still can be used since nothing broke off (so far).
Also, those joints that will be used on the shadow traps have a tendency to crack on top of the "safety hole" or however you call it.

That's a really good question. Were the golden Kanohi able to use more than one power at once? I feel like maybe they were just locked into their forms whenever they were transformed.
>>
>>5346099
Could be due to age.

If I remember correctly, the half pins ranged in friction from black at the most, blue, tan, then light grey at the least.

Black half pins were eventually phased out because blue was the most friction they needed and having half pins look identical to 2 length pins and 2 length axles was confusing as fuck, even if it did look good aesthetically.

Same reason light grey pins are much less prevalent today. Tan ones will do just fine and won't be confused with axles or full pins.
>>
>>5347836
I thought their original golden masks were destroyed in energized protodermis when they became Nuva, and then they were all pissed they had to collect a new set of masks.

As for why we didn't get golden Nuva masks, you have to remember in Tales of the Toa, they had to take off and place all of their masks onto special statues to get the golden versions.
>>
>>5347975
Blue and black are the same type of half pins, there is no difference. Light gray half pins were the frictionless equivelant and have since been completely replced with tan ones. Neither the frictionless or ftrctioned mould has changed, just the colour. Any variations you find in friction between blue and black or tan and gray are most likely due to age.

They better not repeat the "villains steal the Toa masks" gimmick.
>>
>>5348310
A lot of masks have those spaces because it gives you more options for who they can attach to and stuff.

The villains of summer 2016 are 'beasts' so unless they are all some skull-scorpio tier things (which seems unlikely given the creatures of winter 2016), I cant imagine them stealing the masks and putting them on.

>>
>>5348363

Not many do, actually. The 2015 Pakari, the Skull masks, the Mask of Creation and the Mask of Control are meant to be worn by horned figures. The Skull Spider mask, the Protector mask and Onua's mask are the only ones that aren't worn by horned characters and Onua's the only Toa who can do this in both his forms so it makes me curious. But I'm probably over thinking this.

I don't think the Beasts are going to wear masks. I think their heads are going to be similar to the those of the Creatures in that they can fit over Masks, to combine with Umarak the Destroyer. But I wonder which extra they're going to come with.

Can anyone make pic related with Spurdo Pohatu and LoSS/skull spiders coming out of the toilet?

>>5343933

Good gracious, this set gives me zero reasons to buy it. The pieces are passable, the colour scheme is atrocious and the build is just bland. 2015 Pohatu is still so far among the best sets of his price range.
Though I'd like to see master Pohatu with this mask.
>>
>>5349213
>Pohatu
>best in his price range

U wot mate? Even in his wave, Lewa is nice and lanky with weapons that are both 2001 axe and 2002 katana glider. Gali is well armored, and her axe/spear/trident has lots of potential positions, including axe foot fins and mermaid fun.

Throw in the skull guys, and Slicer is underarmored but excels in arm function, Basher is very solid, Warrior is generic and good looking for his army building, and Scorpio while a crap model is a fun build with a cool function.

Even throwing it to 2016, Lewa cinches the look and Gali's orange is gorgeous.

2015 Pohatu may have a really stable color scheme, good weapons/functions, and be Australian, but he's TINY. Manlet Pohatu, while swole, is still a manlet.
>>
One thing to note about 2016 Pohatu is that he looks worse in photos, simply because the blended crystal armor add on doesnt look so yellow in photographs compared to his bones/shells, in person they look quite a bit closer, the only real issue is the three browns but that can look alright if you think of him as some sort of post-apocalyptic mad max themed character in terms of design.

Have fun walking with Hahli for 40 minutes through the whole Island to arrive where you want
>>
Can someone please fix Pohatu 2016 and make him look actually good?
>>
>>5349306
2016 Pohatu's still gonna need a lot of work to look good. Luckily I have two Nilkuus and two Pohatus. One each are on display, one Pohatu is part of an Akamai, and the other Nilkuu is being turned into a primary-yellow villager.

Let's see...

Alt- Earth has purple shells, is tall/thin, and has a mace/axe and a pistol.
Alt- Jungle is stocky, gun in chest, lime and keetorange harlequin, and extendable brass knuckle claws.
Stone will be yellow and stocky.
Fire will be thin and orange.
Water will use the Azure bones from Breakout.
>>
Not sure if anyone has all the 2015's sets but, if you want Pohatu he is going for $8.97 on Amazon.
>>
>>5349354
>>5349358

Good. Both Nilkuu and Pohatu have four size 4 burnt orange shells, so if you have an extra/are willing to sacrifice one of them, 2016 Pohatu should get enough properly colored shells. And I'm pretty sure Ketar has the one Vorox armor piece in the proper color and Pohatu has one in silver? Just switch em and give Ketar grey/black colored Glatorian nicks, and now they're both better colors.
>>
>>5349375
Shit. 2016 Pohatu has silver Vorox shells and Ketar has a tan one.

Maybe swap out all the burnt orange necks from Ketar so he's just dark tan, silver, Trans lime, and solid brown toes? FUCK. Such a screwy color scheme.

Pohatu looks easy though. Just replace the four shells on his lower arms/legs with the four burnt orange from Nilkuu/Master, and MAYBE give Pohatu a tan shoulder.

Yeah. Ketar and Pohatu swap a Vorox so Ketar has no more dark tan and Pohatu has a bit more tasteful asymmetry.

There's no room for shells on Ketar and he's barely brown at this point, but he is looking a lot cleaner. Pohatu has a good color combo of burnt orange and dark tan , with silver armor and Trans lime accents.

There we go. I've solved it.

It's surprising. Pohatu actually looks much better and Gali much worse than we thought. I'll reserve final judgement until we get a good picture of mermaid tail Gali, since she really benefits from Akida.

Umarak is still godly, and Tahu doesn't look half bad. Lewa really needs Uxar to shine.
