Why do you guys hate designer/art toys?

Plebs

Fuck off already. You've already made 6 or so garbage threads
>>
How is this an art toy? It's not hipster garbage. It's a 1/6th monster from lord of the rings.
>>
I don't hate 1:6 toys. I hate 1:6 prices. $100-$300 for a thing that should be $40 at most. Fuck that.

Even Sideshow's Joe line was $60-$70 when it started. Now it's double that.

>inflation

Worldwide inflation isn't high enough to explain toys doubling or tripling in price over the past 5 years.
>>
its not inflation, its material costs that rise like gas prices and meat
>>
>>4541354
I blame it 25% on that, and 75% on "Hot Toys sold their shit for a huge markup so now all 1:6 companies do it".
>>
>>4541331
1/6, Urban Vinyl, Keychains, Blind Package Minifigures, it's all hipstershit! This is what they sell in all those hip and cool combination toy stores and art galleries.
>>
Toys are toys. Adding extra words to them mean nothing. Just call it a toy.

This is art.

Really? I guess it doesn't belong here seeing how it's not a toy and all. >>>/irc/

I don't get why fans of this need to come to an anonymous image board and feel like what they are interested needs to be validated when it's all just toys and shouldn't be special for god knows what.
>>
>>4541742
Because I hate all you figma and nendoroid collectors and I need to pretend I am better than you!
>>

This.

I was collecting 1/6 scale toys for years, and stopped not too long ago... I averaged maybe two-three toys a year if I was lucky.

Had to stop, because it was virtually impossible, unless you were rich, to consider completing a line of toys. Army building? Don't even think about it. Vehicles? Detailed figures like Predators? Those prices are astronomical.

Hell, even Dragon's basic infantry figures are expensive now.

1/6 toys are phenomenal, but the price tags take all the fun away.
