I want Primaris Deathwatch (pic-related, not my model), and the Repulsor is too slow.

I got around to reading Codex: Eye of Terror and got new inspiration for my chaos force. I was thinking of doing a mutant uprising caused and supported by CSM, I like Sons of Horus so maybe Black Legion. How could I do a force of Very Elite Black Legion with all the mutants and renegade stuff as misc support and not have it's fluff dragged down by association with Abbadon?

Veridyan definitely has some tech mods, but by an large the sisters are baseline humans in fancy gear (Hence T3 Sv3+).

Juvenat treatments keep you functioning as if you were young (And can do this even if they don't restore your appearance, see Jurgen), so that would be a "modification" of sorts.

I run a similar list and I've found it works quite well. I'd recommend running the spearhead detachment as Alpha Legion since they're largely back row shooters, so they'll get a lot of mileage out of their legion tactic.

No, have played against a veritable riot of colors, including some absolutely gorgeous 'Khorne', silvered black and white/golds. The ugliest were in Nurgle colors. A friend is currently painting gloss black carapaces over bright colored bodies, the Yellows and Reds are very distinctive. His Big stuff is painted with darker colored bodies and glossy white armor, drybrushed with opalescent paints echoed in the hurty bits. The ruby tinted Carnifex (?) has a burgundy body with spikes and blade in a high gloss scarlet. Very nice. Shane its the only biggie he's finished.

I wouldn't say it's so much the Tyranids 'helping' Ghazzy and the Orks as it was the Blood Crusade making the incredibly dumb decision to jump between the Orks and Nids when the meatgrinder that is the planet Octarius was turned up from normal maximum to overkill to 'ARE YOU INSANE!?' mode over century ago.

Hell, when the World Eaters visted Octarius (before the Blood Crusade) to snag a few skulls from Orks and Nids for about a year, the smallest skull they got was the size of a boulder.

...Which brings up an amusing observation. The last time a Primarch went toe-to-toe with a Beast-tier Ork, the Primarch died. And Vulkan is bigger than ol' Roboute. Guilliman would be wise to steer clear of Armageddon if 'Da Great WAAAAGH!!! does swing back that way after it finishes off the Swarmlord and what's left of Hive Fleet Leviathan.

They're useable, but generally considered to be on the lower end of marine units you want in your army.

It's fine for a starter army, but you'll want to expand out from there sooner rather than later

I don't know about Death Guard, but with Primaris you want to branch out to normal marines as well. Limiting yourself to only primaris and then asking why they aren't good is only worthy of the answer "because you're ignoring the other half of your army."

death guard, well the book with all the rules and units is not even out yet, so i withhold judgement.
a pure primaris army would be shit. Thankfully there is no need to do that, because primaris are merely a part of space marines and the holes in the primaris army are fixed by normal marines.

Nah, they are good starts for both armies, but Space Marines especially really need core units like Devastators and Bikes. The Primaris units are great, very adaptive tools to add to a marine list, but a 100% Primaris army is badly lacking in the dedicated units that help the marines go, IMO.

Te Death Guard boxset forces are better off, but will still benefit greatly from more baseline units.

Honestly its not so much that they're suboptimal as they are niche. Aggressors, Hellblasters and Inceptors can all do some real work, but they can't carry an army by themselves and need support from regular Marines.

This is a good thing mind you; I think they actually struck a pretty good balance with the Primaris stuff for the most part and did a good job in making them alternates to existing Marine units, not flat out superior.

Fluff wise, I'd imagine its because Daemons come with limitations and vulnerabilities with their new power, a powerful but still mortal servant can probably get things done more easily than a DP in some scenarios.

I have been using it with a bombard/claw for the general "point it at the big thing and kill it" approach which it does, decently, it more so serves as a bullet sponge of which it does an amazing job

However with its 3 attacks in close combat anything with a reliable invuln save just makes it to fall back so its buddies can proceed to continue shooting it in the face

Boltstorm Aggressors, especially with the White Scar tactics don't suffer from the range too badly, thanks to their ability to run and gun. They're liable to die if unsupported, but they can put out a lot of shots in the mean time.

Hellblasters I'm a bit on the fence about, Devastators make better tank busters or crowdsweepers, but Hellblasters can pinch hit as either and are better at MEQ killing (and there is always need for MEQ killing), and their extra durability is noticeable. They really want a Captain nearby so you can overcharge to hurt vehicles or terminators though.

I've been looking at Farseer minis for some reason. I'm wondering why the Farseers in the games have the two wing/horn things mounted on the back, the current plastic models have one on the collar, and the old metal models have two on the collar. I think it could be said that 2k is the assumed standard. That is, if it's left unspecified, you consider 2000 points, because the majority of events (big or small) tend to use that as the base, and it's a pretty good balance point for the game. Generally if somebody wants ideas for a smaller list, they'll say that. At worst, they can just scale down a 2k list anyways. And it's quite rare to find tournaments over 2k...

The orks one is about the same, worked out that if I combine it and the fantasy ironjaws one, using the unique models in it as equivalents such as weird boy/ nobs on bikes etc I would be at about 680 points.

The Eldar one from memory is close to 400, no idea about the rest.

Had a rules question come up in a game the other day:
If a player targets an enemy squad in the shooting phase where the players squad can only draw line of sight to a single model in the target unit , what happens if the opposing player chooses to allocate the first wound to that sole visible model and it is removed? Do the remaining wounds scored still count against non visible models? I argued yes because it seems like once attacks are declared they all follow through and also if they didn't there would be weird implications in the case of models with multiple wounds . However I can see how guys out of sight getting picked off because the squad retard didn't move fast enough is frustrating.

A unit picks a target it can see and fires all its chosen weapons at the same time. Any wounds it inflicts are 'floating wounds' in that you apply them anywhere, even to models out of sight of the shooter. If one model is peeking out of cover the whole squad dies.

This is part of the reason it's near impossible to hide out of line of sight now and alpha strikes reign supreme.
