I figure some defect to chaos, and piracy is another obvious avenue, but would they work with the inferior races? As far as I know there's no physical difference allthough in the artwork High Elves are characterised as having blonde hair while the Dark Elves all seem to have black. I believe that this is just an artistic representation however to make it easier to distinguish the two.

There's no real physical difference, no. There was a short story where a high elf that had been taken captive by Druchii managed to take parts of their uniforms and armor during an escape. He made it to Arheim, but was shot by a guard patrol before he could warn of the impending attack. Even when they looked more closely at his corpse, they thought he was just a Druchii outcast.

Arabyan fluff is pretty spotty, and mostly told from the perspective of non-Arabyans. They were a throwaway faction, to the point that in the Khemri Campaign for Mordheim, some tribes were named the Northern Fuzzy Wuzzies and the Al'Rahem, and the Tomb King book had the Oasis of 1000 Camels. At least there was no Carbombya.

Perhaps the most comprehensive expansion for them was in Relics of the Crusades. Granted it was a fan expansion that was published by GW on Specialist Games, so ymmv. Religion in Araby ranges from orthodox (Ghutan) to secular (Dimashque), and only cursed Revenants are cannibals.

More or less. Magic is also slightly more circumspect, since they don't have the College of Magic, Teclis being a tutor and all that. That, and the winds of magic are more diffuse and blow weaker. Wizards either resort to binding spirits in objects, hedge magic, or training at the Isle of Sorcerers, though the magic regimen isn't anywhere as codified as in The Empire.

Arabyan magic tends to be more Elemental in nature (the Arabyan Tomb Raiders could have a Elementalist), though they do have some alchemical options too. Fire Siphons and Naptha are options.

I'm looking for houserules or making my own in order to convert henchmen in Mordheim into more heroes, similar to how Necromunda gangs work.

Can anybody see any issues this may cause other than the exploration dice. Tweaking stats of some henchmen to make them heroes is entirely within the realm of possibility.

They're more open to sex and romance with humans than high elves would be. You'd be lucky to find a high elf that wasn't actually physically repulsed by your attempts to seduce them, let alone one who would be into it.

So I have around 20,000 points of Lizardmen that I'm collected over the years. I have all of the releases for 5th and 6th edition and was working on the 7th when I stopped for real life reasons.

The Warhammer bug has struck me again and while I finish what remains for Lizardmen 7th edition models I wanted to build an antagonistic force.

So I narrowed it down to either the Dark Elves, Skaven or Chaos Demons. I'm looking to build at least 5,000 point army. Which would you recommend?

I always take cannon'n'cav when I fight VC. Cannons to snipe off mortis engines or corpse carts and cav to outmaneuver. Demigryphs with halberds shit on their cavalry and a solid greatsword line will beat anything short of the sternsmen in a straight up infantry vs infantry fight.

I found it interesting how they'd sometimes include factions that weren't present in the main game, and the fact that the minicampaign maps were smaller in scope meant they could include detail that wouldn't be in the main game.

I kind of wish they were going to happen in the New World just because there's a lot of unhappiness about how the campaign map doesn't quite fit the lore, and having more detailed maps in some areas could assuage those fears.

I think GW should have ended WFB completely, and not made AoS its literal as well as spirtual successor. I'm not saying AoS shouldn't exist, but it could have existed without having related to WFB at all.

From a story perspective, it is far more pleasing to have everything from WFB be completely gone and destroyed. It fits with the fatalism present throughout the entire setting, the sense that all that can be done is stave off an eventual end and die well when it comes. And it would have meant that AoS wasn't chained to ideas it took from WFB.

Depends on the units you're fighting with and against, how quickly the battle turned against you, whether your general or another leadership aura is alive, and what the units you have left fought previously in the battle.

A relatively fresh unit that only took on some dogs and maybe some fleeing units will be more resistant to army losses than the unit of swordsmen who took artillery fire, survived elite units, and are down to half strength.

TWW1 is obviously cheaper and now feels much more complete and the campaign more "alive" than it was on launch. There's also a bunch of mods now. Downside is the fact that it currently has a bunch of bugs that we're still waiting for a fix for. And if you want (more) complete rosters for Undead, Empire, Dwarfs and Greenskins, you need two DLC packs (G&G and K&W). I'd say 1 unless you really, really want the races in the second game.

Any stories of playing a tabletop RPG set in the Warhammer Fantasy universe? Personally, I don't think the setting (as much as I like it) lends itself well to traditional tabletop, as the strict (relatively speaking) separation of high elves from humans, undead from dwarfs, etc would make it difficult to justify the diversity you normally see in your average DnD party. But I'm curious if anyone's tried it regardless.

I'm no tabletop player, but one thing that I know of is how the Bretonnians had rules about their Peasants taking leadership from knights within a certain distance - not just the aura you get from Lords in TWW. Which meant they could be really easily broken without some knights within a certain distance to keep an eye on them.

It doesn't. The underlying mechanics are more total war than they are warhammer for the most part. That said, they get the flavor down really well.

I prefer a mix of the two. 6th grimdarkness exists, but the Bretonnians aren't a patsy of the wood elves any more than the Empire is a patsy of the Dwarfs.

My own theory: the Lady of the Lake was a woodland lake spirit before she was "discovered" by the Bretonnians. She made the deal she did with Gilles and the other Grail Companions to keep her lake from being defiled. Her appearance as a Lady appealed to their chivalrous natures (it's canon that a lot of the knightly trappings existed back then, there was just no religious components or unified nation to back them up) and so they really ran with it. Their huge success and her powers gave their armies the same faith, and said woodland spirit transformed over the course of battles of Unification into a spirit of all the lands and the ideals which the knights held most dear.

The Wood Elves probably have a bit of a "Bitch, we knew you before you were famous" attitude towards her, but the arrangement is unquestionably beneficial to them. Their borders are protected, the Bretonnians treat the forest with all due reverence, and the Wood Elves even get reinforced by the Bretonnians occasionally. About the only concession the Asrai have to make is fulfilling the function of Witch Hunters in the Empire: handling the problem of magic-wielders who could be vectors for chaos and corruption. The males are kept and trained as super grail knights to help protect the forest and occasionally Bretonnia itself, in times of great need, while the girls go back out into the realm to act as the Lady's priestesses and magic support for Bretonnian armies.

Oh, and the taxes are still grindingly bad for peasants, but it's not fucking 90%. Because then literally everyone would starve.
