Erm, I'm not a martial arts master or anything, so I don't know exactly how useful dual-wielding is, but after looking over the CYOA, there are a number of powers so vaguely defined that you could use them to seamlessly dual-wield two weapons.

As for using temperance and Excalibur together, I'd say that you should probably not go for it. There are two routes that unlock Excalibur's power. One gives you 50% of its true power, and that one can be unlocked while taking Temperance as a sacrament. Another quest line gives you 100% use of Excalibur but requires a specific sacrament.

I haven't done a calculation of builds, that's insanely hard and long. I just know that taking X-Specific-X-X-Specific-X type of build with two specific items will give 50% excalibur no matter what.

As for how many there are, there are a lot. Each companion has a unique one, neutral, and a bad-end one. All Truths have 3 each where they are needed. All Magics have 2 each. All mentors have 3, with the exception of two that have 4. Sacraments, with the exception of ordinance, have 3 each (Unique-Bad-Neutral) and two have 4 (Unique-Bad-Neutral-Special).

Since the thread was opened with an abomination, I might as well post the progress on mine.

This is roughly what the first page will consist off, abilities might change order as new ones are added and as I edit stuff. Ignore the 'choose 2' under abilities as it will likely be more by the final version.
The next page will be an other 12 abilities followed by either specialized equipment or the environments/locations where the expedition will go. I'm unsure which should come first.

While I'm here, can someone have better pictures for 'Polyglot' and 'Use Artifact'?
I tried to follow a guideline for the pictures:
-drawn or painted, preferably in pulp magazine style
-visible character

'Polyglot' was either someone talking to some tribesmen (but since pups preferred action scenes I can't find anything suitable) or an explorer reading hieroglyphs (which I can't find either despite seeing plenty such pictures in the past)

With 'Use Artifact' there are plenty of fantasy variants but nothing that would suit late 19th early 20th century.

Willhemina we honestly haven't been given enough info on for me to have a plan besides "have Laheera bribe her to do so" but for Laheera it seems kinda simple. After all I have a terminal case of Destiny so if I don't find some way to deal with it then I'm pretty much doomed to one day go insane tyrant god. Better to deal with the issue now in a manner where she can euthanize me/freeze me in time and search for another cure if things go wrong. After all the first operation was planned to end when Laheera reached the point where she thought that going any further would be (more) insane.

The 100% Excalibur path would not allow you to take the mirror. You can take the 50% path, and you and your other can fuse and get a weapon that goes up to 99% of Excalibur strength. Even though it's not Fusion's normal power up, which is x^4, no path other than 100% Excalibur would allow you to wield Excalibur at its fullest.

Both you and your other will wield two halves of the same Excalibur, which, when you're fused, will give an Excalibur with up to 99% strength.

Inspired by the other anon's power gaming skywhale slaying; Wouldn't it be possible to use the portal attachment to accelerate a large block of dense material under natural gravity for the six years of King Bones's training? (Assuming the portal works as in the game, and that you can contain the whole setup in a vacuum made using graviton or more mundane means). I've only done very round calculations, but you reach relativistic speeds under earth gravity, which for, say a block of lead, should hopefully be enough to kill a skywhale once you release it.

These are just random builds. Look, you can have a billion different combos, and most just end up as neutral ends for everything. The trick is finding the few things that make a good build and unlock a secret or a power. Synergy is what releases companion good ends and picking the right tools/mentor/quest/sacrament is equally important. BUT, there is a reason for these kinds of ends, and the hints to these ends are hidden throughout.

This 'stereotypical build' unlock no end, and may end in quest failure as you have no way of making it up the falls.

Yeah, the way portals work in the game is incredibly exploitable. You could drop a magnet through a coil with pretty much the same setup and have unlimited power.
The portals in the game don't conserve energy at all. I assume a more realistic wormhole depiction would require you to do the same work going through the wormhole as taking the direct path, taking gravitational, electric, magnetic, etc. fields into account.

Andrea ate the souls of her kingdom in order to ascend. If she drank Muddler, all of those consciousnesses would be restored. All of them. At once.
And Avesta's mind would lose its humanity and return to being the true Demon King's consciousness.

I'm not sure exactly how Andrea and Avesta combo, but I'm guessing that's how they combo with the Muddler.

Quest: Survive the Yellow Samurai

My goal as a Dusk Mirror is to fuse with my other half, multiplying all my abilities by themselves four times. If both of us are hunted by the Yellow Samurai, then that will probably be plenty of incentive for us to cooperate. With my powers magnified, I can fire the Shield of Dagon’s Bane as an unbreakable projectile using kinetomancy. Graviton will further enhance this by drawing on an abundant supply of dark energy to boost the force that I can put behind the shield.

Skinchanger will be useful in a number of ways, including letting me trail a tendril of myself behind my Shield of Dagon’s Bane projectile like a wire-guided missile, while also maybe giving me a way of retrieving it if I miss (or riding along with it, then turning around and trying again). While magic might not work on the Yellow Samurai, maybe an unbreakable shield with a ton of force behind it will. Of course, if that doesn’t work, being able to shift my mass around so that it’s always behind an unbreakable shield can help keep me alive.

Laheera almost certainly won’t let me graduate (and thus face the Yellow Samurai) until I am very well prepared. And really, the idea of an empress of 40 billion worlds worrying about whether I’ll come back safely from a duel is really endearing.

And since I have exactly 15 points left, I’ll just take Sedana as a companion. Hard to go wrong with a powerful teenage sorceress with massive daddy issues.

After trying to figure out a route that would enable me to temper death and get a good ending for that goal specifically I just feel like I've been tricked into wasting a bunch of time by the visible potential of what this CYOA could've been if it actually provided more fucking information. This isn't subtlety, this is vagueness and information deficit to such an extent that all decision making is rendered frustrating and unsatisfying for me. Rina is the only solid link to tempering death, as she's a/the death goddess. But that can't be all there fucking is to it.

Can gain approximate flight from kinetomancy as well as concussive blasts, short range blinks to dodge or retreat from cyclonus, skin changer lets me pumps me up to above human strength and durability whilst providing a measure of regen. The wings id use as a last resort forcefield.

Coupled with Excaliber i dont see a threat i cant take head on. The zealots would be soundly defeated. Their ownly possible wincon would be to destroy the library in spite but i reckon with Midos bonus spells i can conceal it for a time whilst i destroy them wholesale.

I never really thought of interacting with the choices outside of the ones i'm allotted at jump. I usually think "Oh, i just make these choices and, now all the rest don't exist". It really adds a certain dimensionality to CYOAing.

Combat: To travel quickly I launch myself briefly using cyclonus, then go into a dive using the wings. Attacks are a combination of using sand as a weapon and defence, launching into enemies with the wings, and ranged hit-and-run spear or blade strikes.
Quest 1: Locate The Temple of Al-Asir

Use sandshaper to disarm any defences. This is my safe haven.
Litch King Deeja

I find this guy, Train, then use the Cosmolobe to find the phylactery.
Quest 2: The Oracle of Nath

I do some platforming to climb the dragon falls and get sedana to bind some powerful beasts for later.
Quest 3: The Scrolls of Thu'um

My connections with Mr Bones, the cosmolobe, and those beasts should make things a bit easier here. Instead of destroying the scrolls i bring them and the oracle to the Litch King and see what he can do about mr bones and the oracles memory and, if they can find the scroll's purpose.
And then we will find a way to temper death...?


Since QuietCYOA is asleep, i won't know how badly i'm going out-of-bounds here til' later.

This CYOA has a lot of methods of doing things that are far more broken than the one I designed, hell, some options are stronger straight out of the box. You could also do the same thing with the Kinetomancy power, except better, for cheaper.

The purpose of the build was to take something that wasn't expected to be weaponized, and turn it into an absurdly powerful weapon, though perhaps not gamebreaking compared to the rest of the setting.

In addition, Garret is a cool dude and all, but he would be hell to be in a party with. You're not immune to his nukes. The first time he punches somebody, if you're not an invincible god, you're dead. Unless he operates on animu/vidya physics, anyways

My method exerts a similar level of force in a far more controlled manner, allowing for precision strikes instead of wanton destruction.

I realised after posting it in here that I actually skipped over just how incredibly difficult it is to parse this thing. different characters speak apparently at random and the only way to tell them apart is by font. some of the fonts are really similar to each other just to make that harder. one of the fonts is so hard to read I spent five minutes working out if Cian's name was Tian or Lian or what.
I did my best to cover everything else though. I really wouldn't recommend looking at the source without protective gear.

You say I need life to enter a universe, and I will have it.
