On the up side it can penetrate trees easily so cover isnt as usefull, the scrying will leave them nowhere to hide. I just hope i dont come up against other mages.

Ok, so, I feel like I should finally explain this in a manner that everyone can understand, without being too 'oohhhhmysteriousXD'.

Basically, Rise, and all of my CYOAs really, work on a questline system. Now, in Rise, failure (or death) is actually kinda hard. All of the quests are very difficult, but please realize just how OP you can be with 100 points and just how OP the sacraments are. Basically, when it comes to the main 5 quests in Rise, there is no specific path to victory and few paths to failure for a single quest.

I mean, if you picked the Summoning of Uzra as your quest, and only took Ordinance as your sacrament, Sandshaper and Halo Wings as your powers, and took Spear Eterna and a companion, you realize (it's rather obvious), that you have no real way of:

>Surviving the environment.
>Overpowering the bad guys.
>Magically stopping the summoning.

And other, important variables are unaccounted for. Meaning, you'd fail the quest. BUT, this is hard to do! Almost everyone with a brain would realize that taking Lotus Flame or Frostlorn (with Shearpoint as a sacrament), solves all those issues. This varies from quest to quest.

NOW, when we talk about the questlines (different from quests), you need a very, very specific build to unlock them. Consider the companion Hoh-Jo for example. She's seeking her kinslayer sister, and unlocking Hoh-Jo's side-story (basically Sasuke and Itachi but hotter I guess) is difficult. I've sprinkled clues throughout the CYOA, for example, consider that, in her description:

>Hoh-Jo is heading AWAY from the Grass Continent. Meaning that any quest/mentor that takes you North or in that direction (i.e. Wilhelmina, Uzra's Summoning, etc) would BAR you from Hoh-Jo's side story.

Basically, to unlock questlines, you need specific items, mentors, quests and powers, not to survive or complete a quest.

Though, that prereq system means that only Commies can get Major Tracking, despite it not being labeled as a Commie spell.

Not that it matters all too much, since the story that unfolds after the cyoa is complete exists solely in the mind of the anon. If they can imagine a scenario in which they complete the kitsune's path of vengeance, while simulataneously going North, we can't exactly stop them from doing so. It's just a shame the depth you intend is going to be mostly lost.

Not really, it's common sense tho. I mean, you could just kill all the guys trying to do the summoning, but what I was trying to say was that most weapons are anti-personnel while much magic is anti-army type stuff. Here's the secret. People are repelled by the things they dislike proportionally harder than they're attracted to the things they like.

People eliminate all the options that are unacceptable, then assess the rest for pros and cons that can be weighed rationally against each other and choose based on that. Sure. It's mostly gut, but basically, my priorities are someone I can get along with, who shares or at least accepts my interests, and who's got a compatible sex drive. Gloria fits all of those, although she's a bit of a risky choice due to her habit of going through boyfriends quickly. Courtney's similar, though risky because our sex lived might end up incompatible.

For the maybe list, Trisha's not a gamer but she does like to go traveling, and there's no real red flags. Its going to be a long while before I fully make the cyoa after I finish PPP+ anyways. So its not going to hurt posting summarized draft lore.

The three galactic powers of the cyoa are:

Naibelum of the Stars Empire (Shark-Squids/Seath) who basically want to be the Number #1 empire in the galaxy, running its affair as the apex species and making majority of the Galaxy their race. A single female Naibelum (Like a Squid) can produce around 70k children in one go and since females don't die after mating once, there is a bunch of Naibelum soldiers marching for the empire..

The Mother System (Stupid Sexy Robot-Android-Cyborg-AIs) is an AI in control of robots, androids, and cyborgs who are linked up to it. They want to basically collect every form of technology that exists in the galaxy and bring an end to all organic life by replacing them with robots, android, and cyborgs who are under its influence.

Order of Celestials (Weird Imp-Like People (Think of Midna from LoZ)), that are old ass aliens who observe & record the cycles and history of the galaxy for their ancient God King and often engage in galactic wars to stop a monopoly from happening so every planet & system isn't dominated by one species of aliens.


There are also a few other minor galactic powers. One for example is a butthurt Human empire who got their ass kicked by the Order of Celestials long ago for trying to pull what the Naibelum's are currently doing. The butthurt empire hates the Humans of Earth for lore reasons. Paris is also the cutest girl of the PSY-CYOA

Hopefully, you'll see this in UF or the Rise updates. I do feel that it's a learning process and that mysteries aren't always easy to convey. Truth be told, I feel that I'd be able to do that a lot better if there was less time spent learning photoshop.

This is probably something an editor would be useful for. The mystery is always really obvious to the author because they came up with it and they easily recall all the clues at once. It becomes a question of "not giving too much away." Meanwhile, readers (and editors) have no context for those connections and are starting from scratch, and their relevant question is "enough information is conveyed to put it together." Opposite angles on the problem, so it's hard for someone in isolation to strike the balance.

Just going to the library is a major bonus. While the others give a lot of direct power, Minerva is more of a key towards indirect power. For example, the questline of unlocking Eon's Bow may not require taking Minerva (it doesn't), but say it involved taking Ordinance (it does) and a specific power (maybe).

If you decided to take Minerva, then you wouldn't need the specific power, as Minerva's knowledge allows you to circumvent a single barrier. This is all quest dependent, and only works for some quests and obviously not for those that need a specific mentor.

Truth be told, I don't think anyone is too dumb for this. Some clues are really simple, while some require a little over-the-top thinking. For example, a lot of clues are visual. Try taking a look at the bottom of Tyr's space in the companions page.
