It's weird, because I remember it being completely fine when I played it as a kid, but when I fired up the ol' Wii the murkiness and the fuzziness started to really get to me and I got dizzy. I'm gonna take a guess that I'm either sleep deprived or my tv is just shit, since firing up Majora's Mask on a friend's N64 was fine.

That is the definition of being lazy, not doing something because it's easier to do nothing.
It'd the work of 30 seconds to 2 minutes to consolidate some stuff into one page. But saying "Don't do it Val!" You are actually, literally, defending laziness.

>barely-related shit together that shares no continuity.
Riiiiight. The starting location origin and location for the same jump share no continuity. Every jump that has them together on the same page is doing it wrong. This isn't you grasping at straws to won some internet argument at all. No sirree!

I'm thankful for how the Naruto jump has made me reread a bunch of great fanfiction in search of the perfect one to jump. Yes, all of Vals jumps are perfect with no room for any improvements at all! Anyone who says differently deserves should be lined up against a wall and shot.

Oh right, I did say I'd try to a drop a WIP once I got done writing up perks. Technically I got done earlier but DBZ/Extended Properties were getting discussed, then I read a bunch of Grappler Baki and forgot, so here it is now.

Again, WIP, nowhere close to Jumpable, but it's basically a status update while I'm busy with other things so people are aware of the how things are progressing.

>>
>>55062324
Depends on the pokemon.
Most psychic types are human level intelligent or smarter, for example, so i don't think it's any more disturbing for them than a jumper using an altform.

Note that this is about pokemon companions taking a human (or humanoid) form to blend in, not for you to fuck them.

With Invasion, do you have any degree of control over which world you visit? Also, what's with the "mirroring" aspect? I don't remember that being a thing in the Souls games, where you can kill people in your world as a phantom.

While we're on the subject, I'm putting together a to-do list for my time there and in WCIII. Anything I should add?

>Save Arthas/Terenas/Uther/Lordaeron
>Destroy the Frozen Throne, permakill Ner'zhul
>Save Anasterian/Silvermoon/the Sunwell
>Save Nordrassil
>Permakill Archimonde, Mannoroth, and any big-time demons who show up somehow
>Cure the Plague if it continues to spread somehow
>Integrate any Orcs willing to control themselves into Night Elf society
>Boot any Orcs unwilling to control themselves into Silithus, direct them at any and all bugs
>Teleport to wherever Deathwing is, boop him on the snoot, and cure his crazy, which should fix the rest of his Flight
>If not, boop Onyxia on the snoot and make sure VanCleef gets paid
>Go to Nagrand and go full Disney movie on Garrosh so he never goes coocoo
>Boop Malygos, fix his crazy, make him calm down about mages
>Poke all Old Gods to death
>Figure out why Gnomes can't be druids
>Something about Vereesa I think
>Tell Turalyon he's a lucky man
>Decorrupt Loken and all Keepers
>boop Helya and force her and Odyn to actually talk about their issues
>throw any remaining Old God organs in the Warehouse, to be disposed of efficiently later
>talk sense into Sargeras if possible, if not make sure he never reaches planet
>>
>>55062424
>though without a strong soul and great faith in Lord Gwyn it fizzles short of expectations
Is that part really necessary? I wanna cast lightning spears without believing in the glory of Gwyn.
>>
>>55062579
Invasion has some general control but nothing finite. The mirroring part is based on something I observed after rewatching some LPs, mostly when you kill Lautrec in another world as an invading phantom, but his corpse and equipment show up in your world, or how beating Kirk's phantom enough causes his corpse to appear near the Fair Lady despite you only ever battling a phantom.

>>55062583
Oh there's absolutely more than ten years between games, kingdoms rise and fall, some theories guess a gap of hundreds of even a thousand years have passed (though there isn't much way to know for sure given no concrete records).

And yeah, that's one of my intentions with this, to try and keep many of the purchases from the old Jump in some fashion. In fact, if you cross compare, you should find quite a few of the old perks in some fashion sitting in the WIP Document.

>>55062609
Not sure, it's implied that gods like Artorias (I'm calling all of Gwyn's people who weren't humans or giants 'gods' for simplicity's sake) who only had light in their soul were extremely susceptible to abyssal corruption since they had no experience with tolerating it. It'd be a sticky situation for you.

>>55062624
Thanks! I fiddled with that quite a bit.

I nervously choose to believe that's a positive maniacal laugh.

I fucking adored designing the Chaos Servant perks, probably the thing that made me to decide to fill up perk trees with all the little mini combos.

I had pleasant thoughts of turning severed fingers into cute dragonlet pets.

>>55062653
Mmhm, though for some reason "Sunlight" manifests as lightning when represented as an energy in Dark Souls for some reason, so I thought the continued emphasis on electricity would be the right direction. Did you have anything in mind to keep to the theme?

>>55062662
Yeah, that's what that line was supposed to be referencing. There's probably some kind of characteristic or ability related to the game stats you can enhance.
>>
>>55062777
>Integrate any Orcs willing to control themselves into Night Elf society
Why integrate them into Night Elf society specifically?
>>
>>55062777

>>
>>55062109
Empoleon mostly complained about how cold everything was as a human.
>>
>>55062800
Mostly so they learn how to Druid and don't kill Cenarius.

May also involve NElves relearning how to Shaman, since they obviously forgot how to do that when they stopped being trolls.
>>
>>55062777
>>boop Helya and force her and Odyn to actually talk about their issues

That's going to require you to convince Odyn to actually admit his wrong-doings and how he's responsible for some of the bad shit that's gone down in the world.

Which is pretty much impossible, considering how far up his own ass he is about VALOR.
>>
>>55062797
>Did you have anything in mind to keep to the theme?
Well, you could say in the perk that it gives you an affinity for light and energy (fire, light, lightning basically) related abilities, which due to a quirk in the settings metaphysic's manifests as lightning.

Also, there's that part from the wiki
>His soul embodied the concepts of light and energy, allowing him to manipulate them both, and generate a substance called lightning.
No clue if that's true to canon, but from what I remember of the games, it seems to be correct.
>>
>>55062806
All I really need to do is poke the Troggs to death and stop Thermaplugg. That'll free up the Gnomes to help the Alliance if Archy somehow shows up anyway.
>>
>>55062797
That is indeed the good type of laughter.

Also, thank you for being generous to Companions. Even if the actual import price makes me wanna die a bit.
>>
>>55062424
Jump looks good! I also dig the black on grey style.
>>
>>55062797
I assume the Eternal Dragon scenario is gonna let us become a dragon? Would be neat. And what would the Lord of Sunlight scenario get us?
>>
>>55062777
Duskwood, Felwood, a fuckton of other places need help healing the lands.
If you can't decorrupt Deathwing then setting up an uncorrupt black dragon as the new aspect would prolly help.

Try and save/repair the world soul of Argus? I dont actually know what the fuck is going on there but apparently something something the Legion is torturing the world soul of Argus to make themselves immortal or something. The whole immortality has been retconned back and forth I dont even know anymore.

And fuck Odyn. He's an overgrown manchild who makes everything worse. Though if you think you can get him to see the error of his ways then do it.
>>
>>55062853
Eh. The worst of Gnomeregan happens during Warcraft 2 though.
>>
Okay I went full fae mood on this one but now I have the Kinetic Cestus Noble Phantasm built with Item Construction EX: https://pastebin.com/ev75w1nz

I doubt it'll pass muster through Val, though if they wanna give their opinion I'd love to see them tear it apart or maybe (.0000000001%) approve of it. I really like the feel that this gave me.
>>
>>55062844
He's had a while to calm down, I think. Besides, fixing the dragon problems and showing him that might convince him maybe dragons weren't a bad idea after all.

I think Helya will be harder to talk to, being as bitter and probably Old-God corrupted as she is. Maybe poke N'Zoth to death first?
>>
I'm starting accrue weapons that I feel fit me. I was wondering, where I can pick up some type of quick weapon switch. I have enough arms to wield all of them, but people would start asking questions.

>>
>>55062681
I have a decently high drawback cap if that helps any, but I appreciate the kind words in either case.

>>55062690
Don't be afraid to speak up if you see something you'd like to criticize.

>>55062789
Mmm, I'll see what I can think up. That line was referencing how you couldn't even use the Miracle if you weren't a Sun Bro, so I thought using belief in Gwyn as a stand in would be good for keeping up with fluff.

>>55062852
That seems workable, though I would exclude fire since before burning himself in the first flame, Gwyn and his people were always noted as being more aligned with light and lightning. The Witch of Izalith and her people were always the more flame focused ones.

It was something kind of like that, yeah.

>>55062854
Glad to hear.

Well hopefully the price will be worth it since the imports, while not available in bulk, will be pretty potent.
>>
>>55062424
Is there any reason other than just really good for First Jumpers for one to get Drifting Hollows?
>>
>>55062872
Basically, instead of demons being reborn in the Twisting Nether due to their nature as chaotic beings born from it (which was how Sargeras managed to imprison them in Mardum to begin with), it's now attributed to the power they've siphoned from the corrupted, titanic world-soul Argus.

... on a sidenote, none of you are going to like me for the drawback tied to Order Leadership. Absolutely fucking none of you.

>>
>>55062865
Thank you kindly. I got inspired by Val (who also told me that changing background color was even an option) so I wanted to try something easier on the eye myself.

>>55062868
Yeah, Eternal Dragon status is the plan for that scenario. Lord of Sunlight reward is currently planned to be a pretty significant chunk of Gwyn's fractured Lord Soul along with a Dukedom, similar to how Seath was rewarded for his war efforts.

>>55062904
Sure, probably something about being able to throw lightning spears.

>>
>>55060689
The perk's name is Hiveminded. Each body has some different quirks as a result of different bodies and senses, but they are all basically me. It's a pretty cool perk.

A few possibly weird questions but keep in mind my understanding of Dark Souls is limited and thus I am retarded.

For Bonfire Creation do I have to use human bones?

I remember that one dude in the game that kills the Bonfire Keeper for her soul; is being hunted down a concern for firekeepers? Can people in the setting just tell who his a firekeeper by looking at them?

Do Jumper bonfires go out when we are no near them? I know they die when the firekeeper dies, but does just leaving put them out?
>>

>>55063046
It's still going to be worth it, but remember that last paragraph where it mentions the drawback tied will be what helps you get your status as the leader? Well. Canon does need to happen for many of the Orders to even begin forming, so...

https://pastebin.com/cX49cSAD
>>
>>55062797
>who only had light in their soul were extremely susceptible to abyssal corruption since they had no experience with tolerating it.
You are saying that like there is a jumper in existence without any darkness in their soul. Or more like, many, many jumps worth of darkness.
>>
>>55063014
Wouldn't a neat idea for the Lord of Sunlight scenario be to take the place of Gwyn (without out of jump powers, of course), and having to win the war against the dragons yourself? Of course with some handicaps, like the other Lord Soul bearers being incompetent without your help or something completely different. I like the idea though.
>>
>>55062940
Mmmm, the idea behind that perk was to have a middleground between keeping the old respawn rules, but also making sure they didn't apply to non-human racial options since it doesn't really work with the lore. I don't think there's much reason to go for it if you're confident about survival though, so many other fun things to play with.

>>55062981
Did I phrase it that way? That wasn't my intention I assure, wanted them to function more as smart severed limbs that would try to reattach or help out the main body. It's almost like when a character in a cartoon loses their head and their body panics and runs around trying to grab it. They are all part of the same collective after all.

If there are no Orcs left to bomb Theramore, will the Goblins or Forsaken do it instead?
>>
>>55063132
Yes.
>>
>>55062109
They helped me get used to being a pokemon, so I helped them get used to being a human. It was fun, it was funny, it was a bonding experience.

And yeah, I paid them back with lewd. They were so insistent on not waiting until PMD was over, so I had to turn the tables on that.
>>
>>55062934
>Mmm, I'll see what I can think up.
A exclusive Miracle gained in setting might have that requirement (absent some other ability like Dark Wisdom or This Power is Jumpers), but If you are paying for a CP version, then either the CP payment should be enough, or faith in the Benefactor (or yourself as the Benefactors chosen) would work at the very least.
>>
>>55063140
And here I thought the universe would conspire to have me do it accidentally. Like 'inspiring' me to cast a huge AoE to stop a conventional invasion.

>>55063059
Mmmm, yeah, I'll probably remove the damage part since your physiology is the same, just fucked up. "Disease and corruption" are basically there to show how degrading your body or soul means lessened transferred benefits. Additionally, however fucked up you might be can't lessen your equipment below its base abilities.

>>55063068
Big Hat Logan's big hat is biggest, best hat and the best fashion trend to continue into the future ages.

>>55063083
Bonfires according to the lord, iirc, are made with the bones of undead (humans) and fueled with Humanity (basically the spirit lifeblood of humans), but for the perk any old bones will work.

Lautrec killed the firekeeper because he's a giant asshole with sweet armor. Firekeepers aren't normally in much danger and can usually be identified by them being in close proximity to their bonfire, sometimes covered in ash or soot.

The bonfires you make can last for quite a while if you fuel them up before leaving them, weeks even since they burn very slowly, but they can eventually die if you leave them alone too long.

>>55063107
I mean like a metaphysical type of darkness. Humanity are a race inherently tied to darkness since 'Humanity' is the heavily fractured pieces of the original Dark Soul. Gwyn's gods and knights and stuff only have 'light' in their soul because of his Lord Soul's influence, so it's kinda like your immune system being attacked by something completely foreign.
>>
>>55062424
Could you choose to have some speciality or domain other than sunlight as a God? It seems mostly only Gwyn and his kids are really aligned with sunlight and even then not totally. Gwynevere is a fucking moon god who does illusion magic, for instance. And then there's Flame God Flan, Caitha (tears), Kremmel (struggle), Galib (disease), Nahr Alma (blood), and of course... Velka.
>>
>>55063099
>It's still going to be worth it, but remember that last paragraph where it mentions the drawback tied will be what helps you get your status as the leader? Well. Canon does need to happen for many of the Orders to even begin forming, so...
...Oh.

That's actually kind of boring, making everything futile.

Takes a good bit of the fun in messing with the story away, but otherwise doesn't actually harm me much. Not the degree of painful I was expecting.

I was kinda assuming the drawback would basically just be (a worse version of) Player Character to put you at the forefront, and making sure you'd have to go through everything.

Hm. Can we do things after the fact? Like, rebuild/resurrect after not-Garrosh's latest massacre?

Is there an option for teaching Sorcery/Miracles and Pyromancy to people in future jumps?

Mmm, I'm looking to avoid giving the full Lord Souls or having you replace major characters in the lore. I'll also look for other ways to introduce difficulty other than hindering them since the thought of making these legends suddenly incompetent doesn't sit well with me.

>>55063122
Astolfo is cool but I don't post with pictures much anyways. Have a cute one though since you brought him up.

>>55063180
Mmmm, yeah, I like that idea actually. Just making it a general "faith in a higher power" type of thing, with your Benefactor potentially working as a substitute.

>>55063251
Ooooh, you know what, that does give me a cool idea actually. I'm reminded of how I gave additional rewards in some of the scenarios back in Bloodborne and I could do that here too.

The Lord of Sunlight scenario when I eventually conceptualize and flesh that out could have the big reward (Lord Soul Chunk), but for Gods who take and beat it the chunk would uplift their divinity up from the minor levels it sits at with just the origin and perks (since you're more of a really bad ass knight with it like Artorias or Ornstein) to one of the bigger name ones like you brought up.

>>55063293
I really thought they would be cool too! The idea of someone always playing shoulder demon for people in the setting and working out machinations all in order to actually help you feels like a fun concept.

Eternal Dragon status is kinda like being a drake, but you'd be bigger, stronger and basically immortal as long as you had your scales just like the legends. (That being said you'd lose it if they were peeled from your hide, and they don't really grow back very well being stone, but still, conditional immortality.)

>>55063301
Nope, while you're in there it's just the time you personally perceive that counts.

>>55063323
Nice try but no cigar.
>>
>>55063268
Eh. There's no real way to put you at the exact forefront considering that most of the big threats are done away with by the generically-named "group of adventurers," which Player Character ensures you're going to be in that "group of adventurers" anyway among other things.

Definitely open to finding other ways to go about this, if there are any ideas.

Also yes, you can pull shit back together after the canon event happens.

>>55063189
See >>55063210
Also, don't underestimate happenstance / Blizzard's asspull-writing.

>>55063367
See >>55063404
The basic idea of the drawback is meant to be "the sequence of canon will still happen, even if it requires different names and characters involved to make them happen." Any pinpoint-writing-details I'm being hands-off with, letting people write their own shit from there.

if you make Garrosh into Good Guy Garrosh, shit is going to be asspulled to make Siege of Orgrimmar happen in a Horde Civil War, but instead of Garrosh as the final boss it's going to be Garrosh leading the charge into Orgrimmar. Ya get me?

>MAKE. THEM. A VILLAIN. EVEN IF IT'S ACCIDENTAL.

>bye-bye Theramore.
>>
>>55063452
>Mmm, I'm looking to avoid giving the full Lord Souls
Why though. It seems like it just incentivises everyone who wants to get a Lord Soul to get it in-jump with the multitude of soul eating/stealing perks we have by now, instead of paying an appropriate price for it, or fulfilling a fitting scenario. I mean, I can understand your stance from a design perspective, but it just seems really weird. People will get Lord Souls either way, might as well make them part of the jump. At least that's my opinion on it.
>>
>>55063452
>I really thought they would be cool too! The idea of someone always playing shoulder demon for people in the setting and working out machinations all in order to actually help you feels like a fun concept.

Yeah I really like the idea of someone doing that for me too!
We can make it so they don't have the mustache flaps right? I always thought that was pretty ugly.

>Eternal Dragon status
Huh, it is not as impressive as it sounds now that I hear it. Then again being a jumper would tend to do that I suppose.

I loved the Clutch of Eggs too, the idea I can spread them across worlds is awesome. I can see myself using it in a combo with Dragoon from FFXI. Just imagine the legions of Eternal Dragon Riders!

You have a few perks that don't work unless you purchase other things in the jump, but don't actually list those as required.

>>
>>55063329
Sure, I can work that in right now. The inspiration had them in columns but whatever is fine as long as they're in the face region.

Hahah, yeah. While Chaos Servant perks were super fun to think up and actually write, I knew most people would be too disgusted for them to be a popular option.

Eternal Dragons were sapient unlike drakes, so they wouldn't work as a pet, but I could probably throw one in as an OC companion on the pricier end.

Way of White has an ability for sharing "revelations" with those who will listen that can teach them Miracles. Pyromancy can be taught to anybody as long as you give them a piece of your Pyromancy Flame to start learning. I don't 'think' I have anything for Sorcery but I'll try to double check. Might have it be an upgrade that can be purchased on the Sorcery perk itself if I can't fit it in elsewhere, with the other two being teachable and all.

>>55063363
I don't believe any of the Lord Souls ever got weaker just from the passage of time. Gwyn and the Furtive Pygmy split theirs up loads of times, Nito got weaker since necromancers were siphoning his power for years while he slept, and the Witch of Izalith's was warped to shit because of her failed experimentation. I could be wrong on that though.

Don't charge for having the setting work the way it is supposed to. If you reform at a bonfire, then you didn't really die. It's like charging to have hospital recovery not count as death in the modern day if you were gut shot, since being gut shot meant death before modern medicine.
Permanently loosing your personality would be the death condition.
This should be free if applicable, with a CP cost to carry it into later jumps as a 1-Up.

>>55063536
Nope, moustache flaps seem to be a universal facial feature among the serpents. You could probably pick up some form of gene magic or biomancy in a later Jump to give them a metaphorical shave though.

>-“Soul Collector” (Free/300CP)
This should not have a price at all, because of the principle of "It works out of jump the same way it works in jump"
And other abilities that can be bought with CP, or learned in setting depend on the feature.
Specifically, perks and abilities like “Mystic Ember Smith” (400CP) (And should probably be 200-300 CP instead) and “Soul Growth”

This is like going to Magicka or D&D and learning a Resurrection spell, and having a setting trait like
>Humans have souls (Free/300 CP)
In this setting humans have souls that can go to the afterlife or be resurrects with certain spells. If you want people in other setting to be considered to have souls that can be resurrected or sent to the afterlife with this settings magic, you better buy this perk!
>>
>>55063554

Slyvanas loves being undead. In life she was just a Ranger-General. She had middle child syndrome. Everyone was talking about her older sister. If they weren't talking about her, High Elf society was talking about the younger sister.

Slyvanas got dirty looks because she brought Nathanos into their super secret clubhouse. She also got dirty looks because she was a no nonsense leader who was willing put the needs of the many over the needs of the few.

When she broke free of Arthas she got all the power she wanted. She became Queen of an entire kingdom. Something she always wanted.

She built the cult of personality around herself & she became super important to everyone. They in return kept her from going into the cold dark night. The Forsaken are happy to actually be wanted.

Before majority them were just farmers, villagers, lowly soldiers. Loderon didn't give a rats ass about them. They were more than happy to kill them again, loot their graves, & take their land because they just happen to have a heartbeat. She gave them a will to keep on existing. Even if she's using them for her own selfish reasons.

>If you're Jumping into Dark Souls as a God though, you don't have the human soul equivalent for this world, you get a god soul.
Assuming jumping into a setting as a god or something else inhuman takes away prior humanity is dumb. If a setting has soulless demons as a setting thing, I don't assume being a demon in that setting means I suffer the effects of being soulless, because I have human souls from prior jumps. the Dark soul is the quality of being human. I ALREADY have that quality, having brought it in from many, many prior jumps. I don't need to have a Dark Soul in this setting to have the quality of being human. Grasping a Dark soul in the setting should NOT overwhelm me, because my humanly is something that transcends any single jump.

You are starting to cross a line form saying how your jump setting should work to my specific chain should be run.
>>
>>55063566
Soul Growth can use in-setting bonfires and Firekeepers get Bonfire Creation as a free perk. It only becomes an issue for those buying it out of origin and the downsides are obvious enough that they should go without saying.

Resonance Rings is reliant on Miracles, but because I had some perks tied to the magical arts I made those perks extra cheap. Additionally, learning Miracles within the setting is exceedingly easy.

No problem, I'm enjoying talking to people about this. I should be thanking you guys for taking the time to respond.

Lord Souls were pulled from the First Flame, and the original holders, Lord Gwyn, Gravelord Nito, The Witch of Izalith, and the Furtive Pygmy were all either extremely powerful in their time or extremely influential in shaping the world.

Lord Gwyn's armies were responsible for slaying the giant bad ass dragons, the Witch and her daughters wove giant firestorms to burn the homelands of the dragons, Nito basically introduced the concept of death and the Furtive Pygmy split his up into so many pieces that he spawned the human race.

>>55063752

Yeah, Dark Souls Giants are basically the opposite of dicks, they're always among the nicest, most peaceful or victimized beings.

>>55063756
The problem with that is we've always operated on "You die, you fail" barring any form of insurance even if death isn't usually an obstacle for people in setting, and you definitely die in the game when you die, not go unconscious. It pops up in big letters "You died" to clarify this fact. Making it free automatically makes all human based origins much safer than non-human origins, thus the small price.

Miracles in canon definitely don't require actual faith to use, the main source of miracles in DS2 barely played lip service to faith while them to make bank.

>The Dark Soul can feed and grow
You have to either absorb a ton of humanity (like the Four Kings) or eat abnormally large chunks of the Dark Soul (as in Gael) for that. Neither of which is easy and both of which are likely to mutate you into crazy Abyss monsters.

>when the jumpmaker likes your combo enough to approve it in person

It's a good feeling.

>>55063996
>The problem with that is we've always operated on "You die, you fail" barring any form of insurance even if death isn't usually an obstacle for people in setting
But we haven't?
Thus looks more like a case of "are you your body" Like how one of the True Magics can make you able to exist without a body at all. Having one and it getting destroyed isn't killing you, its damaging the Meat Suit you were wearing. And that isn't the only thing in jump chain that can make killing you take something beyond the physical realm, like being a ghost.

Since Undead came in with the linking of the fire, and reform at bonfires, it's more like their life is bound to the fire, not their bodies.

Humanity and the Dark Soul are pieces of a Lord Soul. They're separate from the normal souls that everyone explicitly has.
>>
>>55064025
The Lord Souls basically grant their wielders a fuck ton of power in their aspects.

Gwyn was able to strike down dragons by harnessing the Light Soul's light into spears. It probably would make you better at manipulating Light and electricity.

The Witches fire souls made her excellent with fire, to the point where she and her daughters founded the art of controlling it in the Dark Souls world. It would make you better and controlling fire.

Nito's soul gave him power over death, he could rot away gigantic trees and could reanimate the dead. Assume if you possess it that your Necromancy and Death/Curse powers receive a massive boost.

We don't know much about the Dark Soul, but assuming if you possess a semi complete one your Dark aligned powers such as hexes would receive a ridiculous amount of power.

The true power of the Lord Souls however is that they could be split up and distributed, Gwyn gave parts of the soul to all his followers, the Witch gave it to all her daughters, Nito have it to no one but himself, and the Pygmy basically created humanity from his souls fragments.

If your confused that's fine Dark souls is vague about this stuff too.

Never understood their obsession with making Shammies into Dual Wielders. We have Warriors & Rogues from Vanilla. Also now we have Monk, Demon Hunter, Frost Death Knight.

Only Melee that doesn't dual wield is Arms & Prot Warriors, Pallies, Survival Hunters, & Non-Frost DKs. Making Enhancement into a Tank spec would've been better than to make it into another Melee DPS.

Giving them an elemental shield with Doomhammer would've been awesome. I mean we need more tanks in the game.

Prot Pally/Warrior, Frost DK (or is it Blood?), Brewmaster, & Vengence DH.

Just the way I format things, prefer having every section start at the top of the page for ease of use, that way you can skim through the pages and have all the important sections have their names at the top. Also just plain looks nicer and it's hardly sacrificing much either. At most it means you need to press right instead of holding down for a second.

I put them at 500 because I think they;re good enough compared to the 400s that they shouldn't be discounted.

Er, I'm really not sure why this is being mentioned. What's the difference between saying he or she or son or daughter here? They can both refer to either and since the canon base for these were women, I just decided to use that.

That is getting a price because it's not any kind of ability, it's just the natural metaphysics of the world. It'd be like expecting Destiny to act like Ed, Edd & Eddy's cartoon physics just because you've been there. When you buy it, you're not enforcing some ability for things to have souls, you're getting the ability to be rewarded with souls or boss souls as they work in Dark Souls, even when those things in other settings don't have them.

Mystic Ember Smith explicitly lists spiritual energy as sufficient alternatives to normal souls, and looking back I didn't seem to make that distinction for Soul Growth, which will be changed.

I don't know how to talk with you. Dark Soul Humans do not work like other humans in other settings. They don't look like them outside of Gwyn's curse, they have a metaphysical connection to darkness, if pushed they warp into monstrous abyss beasts.

It's like insisting that being a god in another setting gives your soul light abilities in Dark Souls since they're both called gods. You also keep pushing this idea that a human's soul is only made if humanity when there are other elements at work like normal souls.

YOU are the one pushing how your preferences work with having all humans equivalent and getting those abilities for being humans in the past when you don't start as them racially in a new setting.

Yep, it casts the world into millenia of darkness in which time does not truly exist and all humans become decayed immortal zombie things that may or may not be sentient (and that's if they're lucky). Sounds a lot like how humanity works in other settings, huh?

>The Dark soul is what made the pygmies into humans,
Not it isn't. It's what made those primordial zombie things into Pygmies. The Pygmies were then bound to mortal forms and cloaked in forms that resembled the gods when Gwyn cast the Darksign upon them. Becoming humanity as you know them.

>That is getting a price because it's not any kind of ability, it's just the natural metaphysics of the world.
So, you are saying Jumpers shouldn't be able to build Star Trek ships outside the setting, since I'm pretty sure physics to allow them to work don't exist in normal settings. And note the Star Wars jump DON'T have an explicit "You can have this systems physics work else elsewhere" perk.

Jumpers either assume that if they took the effort to learn it in the setting, they can use it elsewhere thanks to the benefactor. Because some people like to think their jumper can be more than just their CP expenditure. Or if they don't assume that setting stuff carries over without CP, that buying something with CP that relies on the settings metaphysics will carry that setting metaphysics into later jumps.

The perks like Soul Growth operate on the underlying assumption that you CAN accumulate spiritual essence/souls to reinforce/grow other souls. (Or they would not exist in the first place) THAT PERK BY ITSELF needs to be sufficient for it to work in other jumps. Because that is what other jumps have been assuming for a long time. You are intentionally creating a perk that does not work in later jumps the way it works in Dark Souls without yet another tacked on perk as an CP tax. And that is just bad design, and muddies the waters on how many previous jump that DON'T make this assumption you are making are supposed to work.

The Bami Tree scenario specified "You’re rich, powerful and raised to one day be one of the strongest women in the world"
I only bothered to mention it because you did specify a gender in a drawback or scenario.
Just like it saying you are "rich and powerful" means you are in fact rich and powerful, if you take the scenario, the fact that it says you were "raised to one day be one of the strongest women in the world," means you were, in fact, "raised to one day be one of the strongest women in the world."

Her cooking skills are abyssmal. Her food is spoken of in hushed tones and euphemisms. It is the stuff of war crimes. It bypasses perks.

If you ever tell her the truth about her food, or refuse to eat it for any reason -- even if you've evolved beyond the need of food, she will cry. All other characters, while completely understanding, will still be extremely disappointed in you for the rest of your stay. And talk about it and put you down constantly. Chronoa is an old hag. Old Kai says she's the second oldest being alive, only 1000 years younger than he is and that they knew each other before he was sealed away. That makes her around 75 million years old.
>>

It's not canon.

Wow, that's fucking pathetic. They live in a universe that's over fourteen billion years old and ~75 million is the age of the oldest entity in existence? Maybe that would be acceptable in a world with realistic physics where they have to struggle against entropy, but these are godlike chi manipulators. What happened to all the older ones that these youngsters are all that's left? Was there some kind of great war in heaven that killed them all off?
>>

Just make it a store that offers techniques of everyone you beat in a fight, or who you convinced to take you as a pupil. Give it some limitations like requiring you to know lesser techniques of a given style before you can learn more advanced ones. Maybe require some sort of basic quest be undertaken to learn the master-level techniques.

Just a spitball.

The primary scenario of Xenoverse is that you take the place of Trunks and become the co-founder of the Time Patrol alongside Chronoa and have to build the organization from the ground up, and fight an even more difficult and grueling version of both Xenoverse games.

So imagine. Taking that drawback and this scenario together, and having to endure her personal attention and 'made for Jumper' dishes all the way to the end.

Anon, this is Dragonball. Literally no one in the entire setting is capable of actually thinking. You can't have the level of supertech and loose metaphysics present in Dragonball and also write intelligent characters, because intelligent characters would notice those things and use them to totally break the system.

Also Toriyama isn't interested in writing about clever protagonists optimizing systems. He writes comedy and fights. Everything that isn't those two things is used to justify the existence of those two things.
>>
>>55065507
No, Kyubey didn't. The Incubators didn't discover anentropic energy through scientific investigation of the principles of physics as they understood them, they just lucked into finding a species that coincidentally happened to violate the laws of nature. I think that's why the Incubators are so insistent on harvesting humanity instead of other solutions, despite them having a hundred trillion years to think of alternatives in. They know they can't actually do it, that their science is too shitty to get the job done.
>>
>>55064818
Dragons are never a bad idea, anon.
>>
>>55065569
>They know they can't actually do it, that their science is too shitty to get the job done.

I think it was less a question of "their" science and more a question of science as a whole. They ran out of physics to study and only by pure good luck did they happen to live in a universe with a loophole that allowed for magic to violate physics under very specific circumstances.

They just decided that it would be more convenient to farm humanity into fulfilling those circumstances than try to fulfill them themselves.

I always thought the reason why they're insistent on the Witch System is because they're lazy and it's easy. I mean, just think about it. Most girls would leap at the chance to become a magical girl even without also being granted a wish. Sure, they'll have to fight monsters, but everyone knows magical girls always prevail over evil with the power of love and justice! Too bad this isn't that kind of story, eh?

Actually, on that note, I wonder if the Incubators have a hand in Magical Girl anime being a thing in-universe?

Same thing, though, really. Either way, the point is that they know they can't figure out this weird branch of exotic physics called "magic", and the best they can do is take advantage of naturally-occurring resources. Because they're not good enough scientists to do it on their own. Bunch of punk-ass little rabbit-cats, dooming our species because they're shitty at math.

>>55065621
>Wait wut? Since when were the incubators that old?
They're not. The universe is only fourteen billion years old. Unless they come from an earlier universe (in which case, they wouldn't be worried about heat death because they could just go to the next universe after ours), they can't be that old. But they've got a hundred trillion years before the heat death of the universe starts. Not a hundred trillion years until the universe dies from heat death, a hundred trillion years before the death process starts. Final death of the universe won't take place for a long time after that.

Correct English grammar is to use masculine (increasingly archaic) or gender neutral (modern) pronouns to refer to people. Using gendered pronouns at all implies the jumper's sex, but because of how English works in regards to masculine pronouns, feminine pronouns actually are far more definitive in defining your sex than masculine ones.

Yeah. But the entire timeline up to now is going to just be just that, but in reverse. The first second of the first minute of January 1st. There's so much more to happen before this cosmos ends.

Anon, having written and deleted my response several times out of dissatisfaction thinking they were too negative, I'll try the simple approach. This perk is its free state is simply an explanation of how it works in this world to simplify things for anons who don't know the world very well.

The paid version allows you to enforce this effect on other worlds, causing enemies you slay to give you tens, hundreds or thousands of units of souls, even getting boss souls. That's a really good thing, especially when your enemies would ordinarily not have a soul, especially when every single enemy would have one singular soul.

If you read above on talk of Soul Growth, you'll see I made spiritual energy an alternative just like Magic Ember Smith, a perk that was adapted from the old jump with the same capacity. Souls, the units gifted, rewarded to you by the perk that didn't even need to be a perk, are not required, simply making the process easier. I am not giving you the perk for free.

>>55064533

Sigh… being a kid shouldn’t be this tough. So this jump gave new meaning to the term born again. I am not used to being conscious this early.

I was one of the new babies born to the villiagers that dark empress Ami had saved… which meant if we did anything unbabylike we risked bringing a revolt amongst the villiagers since they didn’t trust her at all.

Also My wives who were also in a similar boat…. Weren’t as patient about things as I was. Arcueid in particular had no patience for this nonsense so I had to spend a lot of time covering up for her since she didn’t see the point in not walking around and talking as a few day old baby.

My Adult companions were able to join Ami’s Army proper and were of great help.

I on the other hand had to act subtly. I left fake copies of myself in my crib as I walked around invisible. People during the invasions would find themselves mysteriously empowered or healed. The invaders would also find mishaps such as stuff collapsing in front of them blocking their passage.

We managed to use a spell from Lyrical Nanoha to take adult forms temporarily. So we were able to move around eventually and help out. we managed to establish a cover identities for ourselves and work through those.

When the time came to defeat Metalia and steal back Ami’s soul I was one of the ones who went with her. Metalia was obscenely tough and Ami’s plan through brilliant needed a lot of help. I managed to actually hurt and distract Metalia long enough for Ami to seal her away.

I managed all of this before I had my first birthday.

Quite often, people do not even read the whole of a single perk, so forgive me for not assigning the overwhelming importance you are to this one off line that is hardly explicit and is at worst, just leaning more towards one interpretation without saying you cannot be the other.

If you take the scenario, you are rich and powerful, and raised as a strong woman. That is all part of your backstory once you take the scenario. And all comes from the same sentence. Expecting someone to read the quote
>You’re rich, powerful and raised to one day be one of the strongest women in the world
And just know Valeria was serious about being rich, was serious about being powerful, but being raised as a strong woman is just fluff?

That is a DUMB assertion. Really dumb. Like dumb even for 4chan. Which is why for normal jumpmakers fix this stuff when it gets brought up. Because the jump, it ends up on the drive to be preserved. But all the crap the jumpmaker says in a thread, that doesn't get preserved with the jump on the drive unless it gets added to the jump.

Drop In only jumper eh?
>>
Okay, so. I'm here to ask about how bad an idea for a perk this is.

600 cp perk, discount drop in. Jump is a game, there's 4 party members, and you can only have 3 on screen at a time. Perk lets you have all four, but thats kinda useless in the long run/anything other than direct game mechanics. So, im thinking increases the active companion limit by one.

At which point, im kinda confused about how a companion limit of 9 would work given that every import ever is designed for 8.

Should I say 8=9, or should I trash the perk?

More like that is one fucked up family.
They wanted a Girl Heir, and they are getting a Girl Heir, what gender you were born as is just an irrelevant detail to them.

And that makes just as much sense in a scenario about a family of wackos as Val fucking up in the description does. And is why just saying it is fluff and not fixing it is stupid. Because from a strict reading, it could have been the scenario working as intended.

It says some unflattering things about the family, but it would work.

>>55066328
>can't tell the difference between biologically being a woman and being raised to be a woman without necessarily being a biological woman.
I see the problem. You are ALSO a moron. You quoted TWO anons there. One sad the scenario would make you a woman, and one (myself) saying no, being a man raised as a woman would make you a cross-dresser with gender identity disorder.

Then you, being unable to tell two different posts with two different arguments apart, quoted both and acted like they were the same argument by the same person. Because you are a moron as well as an idiot.
>>
>>55066189
Nu, something I just realised-according to the Nameless King's soul, the thing Ancient Tradition lets you do was a fairly common practice amongst the Lords.

Since it seems odd for a capstone to let you do something considered fairly mundane, would you consider swapping it with Lord Splinter since the power that inspires miracles and such seems to be what sets Lords apart? Hell, the Witch and Nito are technically also Lords of a different stripe, so i could see it either being a semi-captsone booster for chaos/gravelord followers as well as the vanilla lightning.

Alternatively, if you think it infringes on the scenario too much-maybe apart from immense power, it also gives you a unique (i.e. unlisted elsewhere in the jump) Lord gimmick? Like Gwynevere's healing.
>>
>>55066536
I have a problem with the scenario calling you transexual. Mostly because Val insists that's not the intent but ignores how there's a problem with what she wrote.

Ah. This is a reference to a few threads ago, but I realized something I wanted to say about 1-ups and narrative.

For those jumpers who are written as not-going-to-die-anyways, 1-ups almost have the opposite purpose that they do for jumpers who actually run the risk of dying. Jumpers who may die buy 1-ups so they can excuse dying. Jumpers who don't die buy 1-ups so they can excuse living.
>>
>>55067067
I refuse to buy one ups at all.

>>55067035

What jumps have time stop magic?
>>
>>55067100
It was less about armchair psychology and more my random thoughts about whether 1-ups have value to certain kinds of jumpers.

I don't usually buy 1-ups either, unless there's literally nothing else of value in the jump. But that's because I write jumpers with plot armor and have a minmaxing habit I just can't kick.
>>
>>55067067
>Jumpers who may die buy 1-ups so they can excuse dying.
>Jumpers who don't die buy 1-ups so they can excuse living.
Yeah, there are some cool stuff you want to be able to die off from time to time.
I particularly like the Dragonblooded Exaltation that lets you explode into a Demense/Dragon Nest when you die.

Turn a 1-Up into a place of power you can leave behind in each jump. And also have it protected/ran by a ghost of you thanks to a Solar charm that also takes effect when you die.
>>
>>55067125

>>55067125
Kindgom Hearts has the iconic Haste, Slow, Stop, and Nobodies can have Time/Space as an element.

>>
>>55067127
I don't know about other Jumpers, but I've picked up my fair share of 1-ups so I can make narrative in particularly dangerous settings (or when I pick particularly dangerous drawbacks) more believable.
>>
>>55067170
>For someone who isn't familiar with Touhou, what are the power/danger levels like?

Assuming you don't dip into drawbacks? Power level is "literally everyone has weird conceptual bullshit magic that can do insane shit." Danger level is near zero, because Gensokyo is under spellcard rules, where actual violence has been replaced with showy magical duels that don't involve actually damaging your opponent.

If you turn off the spell card rules, though, things get bad.

they swap around some item. In one the Parasol is more powerful.

It might say you're an arrogant fool who thinks he'll never die. It may say you're a hipster who likes to pick "inferior" options to go against the grain. It could say you're not the one making any choices. Or it could say you don't want to veer too far from your mortal roots. Maybe you are powerful enough to where not dying would hardly allow you to achieve anything else. Or maybe your death conditions have gotten so absurd that you feel as though anything that could kill you once could kill you again. It's also possible that 1-ups are the least appealing use of your budget. There are dozens of reasons you abstain from 1-ups, anon. You quite simply haven't provided enough information.
>>
>>55067170
I believe one version has a parasol with a pocket dimension in it, while the other has a mostly mundane parasol instead.

Powerlevels are incredibly obtuse but people seem alright with the idea of raw biggatons going up to continental levels, from the last few times it came up. Concept hax is more prominent due to people only having one specific ability that gets a bit wild.

Unless you take a drawback that nulls spellcard rules, you'd have to be a big cocky confrontational prick to actually get yourself killed.
>>
>>55067227
In one of them, the Companion option gets additional CP to spend in later Jumps, even if you don't import them.

I'm writing a Runescape jump. Any ideas for perks? I don't know what I should be doing. Best I've got so far is drawbacks that strip you of your powers, being followed by noobs begging for shit, constantly assailed by PKers anytime you go into the Wilderness and non-quest NPCs who follow a specific god attacking you on sight. I'm toying with the idea of a drawback of needing the quest cape to leave for 0 cp, and then having sub-drawbacks that make you get completionist and trimmed completionist capes.

Any idea for perks though? I've got nothing, other than starting with some useful items, faster xp rates, importing weapons and interface/guide shit.

It's generally not, especially since the 0 CP drawback lets you go to, for example, a dimension where everyone's a high school student making a movie. Sure, there's a zombie "apocalypse", but people turn back to normal after getting beaten up by CPU's, so... yeah.

Sometimes I go hard mode on my jumper and have them die when they fight the baddie to establish a guy as a legitimate threat.

Smart villains or opponents pick up very quickly that my jumper is persistent and isn't going to let a simple show of power deter them, and they're usually too charismatic to make them lose power with scandals. Therefore, the best way of getting rid of them is to kill them.

Points for the interesting story idea.

I'd say it's possible, but if you're in a world where belief = more power, or without some sort of source, that power would steadily diminish unless the newborn God got a base of worshipers and followers. Which also fits the story idea as they scramble to hold onto their newfound power somehow.

It's entirely possible, especially given the rise in power opportunities from recent jumps. Check out DBZ or God of High School for general power boosts, but there are several other jumps that are around that general power level.

I'd say that's backwards. A one up would probably be by far the most valuable thing in a slice of life jump, where something high powered like Angel Notes would have a bunch of other comparable or superior options.

Pretty sure all Marvel humans have an x-gene. It's not not activated in most. That's where the majority of super heroes come from. Ciaran sort of does it with Artorias though, she only needed you to go fetch it because Manus is too stronk. I feel that's also a little unfair as an analogy, because most of the gods are dead and in most of the games the whole point is going after the strongest ones for their souls of course you're only ever going to see the most famous gods doing stuff like this.

Also Smough is kinda a sigusting fraeak in souls lore, not a powerhouse so it seems to me if anything that seems to confirm it's standard procedure. Whereas unique deities such as Gwynevere, Gwyndolin etc. seem much rarer than the rank and file Ornstein was technically part of.

Um, what?
I assume Pyromancy is better then the old sorcery flame spells, or when someone came around saying "Look at this thing we got from Izalia burning herself to a crisp"
People would have went, "Nah, I'll stick with this flame sorcery magic, since I only have to learn ONE way of doing magic, that lets me do all this other stuff, and flame magic also!"

Why would people go to the trouble, and why would Flame sorcery spells be lost, unless Pyromancy was something like a specialized version of sorcery, narrower in scope, buy within that specialty, more efficient and powerful?

Flame Sorcery: Drawing on the power of the First Flame/Witch's Lord Soul

Soul Sorcery: What everyone knows as Sorcery. Powered by souls.

Crystal Sorcery: Enhanced version of Soul Sorcery with crystals added in from somewhere.

Dark Sorcery: Alternative name for Hexes. Draw on the power of your Dark Soul, thus restricted to humans and the abyss-corrupted.

Miracles: Draw on the power of faith/Gwyn's Lord Soul.

Pyromancy: Draws on your own inner fire, nature of which is unclear.

Chaos Pyromancy: Draws on corrupted inner flame. Seems like you can do that without giving into full corruption.

Necromancy: One of the ways you can draw on Nito's Lord Soul. Completely unexplored in the series. It also seems that there's another spell type that also draws on Nito's power, but we don't really see any examples of it outside of one spell (which was lumped into sorcery same as hexes were in the first game, so it'd probably be separate if it had been expanded.)

>>55068443
Since forever. Read your lore. Dark Sorcery/Hexes draw on the power of humanity. Your own inner Darkness, the might of your hidden Dark Soul. Only humans can use it, or those who have been corrupted by the Abyss.
>>
>>55068170
There's a few things I disagree with here. Ciaran in no way does something like this, simply asking for Artorias's soul after you kill him since they were implied to be lovers. You do have a point with it not being a perfect analogy, since there isn't much else way for them to show it off.

Smough is both a powerhouse and a disgusting freak in souls lore though. He coveted the position of being one of Lord Gwyn's personal knights. It wasn't weakness that had him rejected though, but because he was such a fucker that kept eating people which Gwyn wasn't really okay with. Him displaying the art would be no surprise for either side of this argument though I suppose since if anyone in the kingdom would know how to kill someone and consume their essence, he'd be your guy.

I'll also go to bat for Ornstein being out of the ordinary, the guy is basically legendary among Gwyn's knights and fucking huge compared to the rest.

>>55068207
Wait, you really don't see the benefit of the capstone??? You're being treated as the macguffin, the thing that ties a person's plot together, they're manipulating events in the world specifically to get you into situations where your decisions cause giant waves, and you know it.

The tests at every step of the way, the prophecies of the chosen undead, the crow taking you Lordran, escalating challenges to get you ready, the bat demons flying you up into the otherwise inaccessible Anor Londo where you meet this giant tittied goddess who pleasantly gives you this crazy thing that can hold Lord Souls, delivered to the lands of fallen lords and get you to the first flame, that's all set up by Gwyndolin and Frampt. It's bullshit. But it's bullshit that also puts you in the perfect position to ruin everything they ever worked for by letting the fire die and beginning an age of darkness, uncontested.

Generally, if you notice a bunch of disjointed contrarian comments being thrown in all directions at a rapid-fire pace, that's usually what's going on.

Sometimes it's legitimate complaints that just escalate to arguing and insults, but generally, latching onto small details like a gender pronoun or how a minor lore detail apparently makes a Jumper do something they'd be angry about, it's generally a mountain being made over a molehill.

This is actually a huge deal from a story writing perspective, you know. How that impacts your character, whether it's something they'd do, what it means for the story they've set up, to their companions, everything. This 'minor detail' can massively impact the overall story, which is why people get finicky about it.

Not them, but where in the series do you think it would even be relevant?

Artorias? Why would Cirian absorb his soul when it was /corrupted/ by the Abyss for who knows how long? Silver Knights? You kill them and absorb their souls first, there'd be no reason for anyone else to try it. The rest of the Lords are either alone or surrounded by mooks. Or barely functional.

We're told in lore and shown in-game that this is something that happens. Smough does it casually and instantly. Not much to suggest it's some super secret technique that requires your eight chakra point to be perfectly aligned or anything like that.

>>55068258
I'm skeptical because this is Dark Souls, where you're supposed to be skeptical about literally everything because half of it is vague on purpose with some mysterious other fraction being told from the point of view of someone lied too, or someone blatantly lying to you.

The only place we ever get this info is a single description text only obtained by going to a super secret area and beating one of the most powerful bosses in the game.

>When the great beast fell, the king claimed his soul, as was the custom in the age of gods.

This is your proof. This doesn't even say it was common, there is no hint at this being common. The only thing we can be sure of that it tells us is that "the king claimed the soul of a great beast when it died, and this was linked to some sort of custom in the ancient past." I hope I don't have to tell you guys not to believe everything at face value in Dark Souls.

>>55068314
No, that's completely incorrect. Flame Sorcery is the thing you see responsible for the giant firestorms in the intro. It as an art died when Izalith went kablooey for several reasons, including the source of its power being warped beyond comprehension and pretty much all the practitioners being mutated into demons or dying. Pyromancy took over because of ease of use and simplicity, not to mention actually working and actively taught to people.

Single person? Depends a bit on the situation but generally the longsword if you have a specific target, as you have a wider range of areas where you'd be able to use it against them.

Just indiscriminate, no particular target? Buick.

>>55068632
Depends on if the Buick is a car or the WW2 tank. If you want to just shoot a motherfucker with some antiquated technology, then the Buick tank is for you. The car would work fine if you just wanted to do a hit-and-run, but you'd have to clean up and dispose of evidence later.

A longsword, however, is ultimately necessary as your opponent will not die unless you cut off their head. There can be only one.

>>
>>55068604
>I mean if we're talking about writer's fiat, then you could...write around it?
This isn't always possible. It's not always something ignorable, or something truly minor to your specific character. Like I know my jumper wouldn't accept having a relationship in their background due to being married, so if I picked a background unknowingly and it turns out everyone in that background has been impregnated by Satan, that would be a massive deal. Which brings me to another point, which is that a lot of the time, the reason people get upset at some lore detail is because they didn't know about it when making their builds. In this case, it's something major to them that was left out of the jump when it probably shouldn't have been, so they're upset until the jumpmaker adds that detail in for people's sake.

Except this is not some character we have reason to disbelieve telling us for whatever reason. It's the most accurate source of information we have, comparable to an omniscient narrator. The text tells you it's a legend when it's supposed to be. Unless... you're assuming the CU pulls all this information out of their ass, knowing way more than they should, or that literally every item has some sort of engraving or note attached.... which all seem really silly. Seriously, if you discard the descriptions, you pretty much have nothing.

You mean besides it being used wherever it'd be relevant, by separate people in separate times (arguably of separate factions), and it's"common" enough to have an entire art devoted to it, which means testing and refinement if it's not just something innate... then yeah, we have no indication to say it's common.

I feel really bad about all the arguing over the capstone. It is something that stands out to me so I want to explain my thought process further, but I just want to be clear I'm not actually angry about it

To start with in hindsight Ciaran wasn't the best example to make use of since as you say she just wants the soul as a keepsake, but where is it implied in any fashion Smough was a powerhouse? Him just coveting the position doesn't automatically mean he ever stood a chance apart from the people eating, and I don't remember any lore to imply he was especially strong for a Lord; it's been too long, but I very faintly remember something Ornstein taking pity on him. Rank and files was the wrong word to use about Ornstein though since he apparently trained under the Nameless King, what I was getting at was he doesn't seem to have inherited the bit of Lord Soul Gwyn bestowed on his firstborn-and we can at least say that guy was hella buffer than Ornstein or Smough after their powerup.

The NK is also why I look at it the 200 CP as a fundamentally more substantial advantage before other factors, since he's still fighting fit long after the other deities are dead or worse. As you've said the majority of silver knights seem to be smaller in both mystical and physical stature whereas Gwyn's kids are all fuckin' swole, so even the splinter afforded to them seems like a much more significant advantage than something we mainly see needing to hunt powerful beasts/your fallen allies to make use of.
>>
>>55068688
Not really. In most settings, the actual specifics/requirements of a background are pretty loose. Say a background makes you a wizard. All people have to know is what makes people wizards if it's different from the norm, and how wizards are trained. Everything else is up to them as far as their backgrounds go. The major issues and implications are only possibly present in things they NEED to do or be, and there are generally few problems that might cause issues there.

Like with my silly example, being a wizard would have only been a problem if wizards needed to have sex with fairies to have magic powers, or if the only place that trained wizards was run by Horny Satan. Interestingly, these would be the kind of details most people would want to know anything to be able to properly write about their background.

>Flame Sorcery =/= Soul Sorcery
>>55068600
>No, that's completely incorrect.
Sorry. The first game had Miracles, Sorcery, and Pyromaniac
I thought Flame Sorcery was Sorcery spells designed around dealing with fire, Something it should technically be able to do, since Sorcery seemed like a Jack of all Magics system. But in a RPG, having both fire magic sorcery and pyromaniac spells is redundant since the PC is expected to Catch em ALL the magic systems anyway, and from a lore perspective having something specialized in fire being better at doing fire makes sense. But in setting, nothing would actually be stopping a Sorcery practitioner who wanted to have some magical fire capability, but learn an entirely different magic system from using some Sorcery spells dealing with fire if there was need, even though they would be inferior to pyromancy. A bird in the hand and all that.

Anon, you have zero ground here. Yeah, it's the only source of info but it in no way refers just to your interpretation. It is just as easy to view it as something that does not fit what you believe

>where is it implied in any fashion Smough was a powerhouse?
In the description of his arms and armor in Dark Souls 1. The dude was basically the fifth most powerful warrior in Gwyn's employ, and he was only denied the position of Knight because of his habit of eating those he killed.

Specifically, he'd grind up their bones and put it on his food.
>>
>>55068745
You don't seem to know how sorcery in Dark Souls works. It works via manipulation of souls. It can't do EVERYTHING, at its core it uses soul energy to do stuff. Souls don't ignite into fire, apparently, so that's not something it can do.

And Pyromancy seems redundant with a possible Soul Sorcery because Quelana specifically developed it to be similar to Flame Sorcery.
>>
>>55068707
A small detail I always liked is the "Naval Class" weapons.
Warship guns so huge that no mech could ever wield them.
>>

>the fifth most powerful warrior

Where is this said? I tried to look it up, all I got is

>Armor of Smough, the Executioner, protector of the cathedral at the forsaken city of Anor Londo. It offers extremely high defense and can be worn by humans, but not without great difficulty.

which is ambiguous enough it seems more plausible to be talking about the quality of Anor Londo armor than him standing out from the other gods.

If you mean his hammer, all I can find is

?Great hammer from the soul of executioner Smough, who guards the cathedral in the forsaken city of Anor Londo. Smough loved his work, and ground the bones of his victims into his own feed, ruining his hopes of being ranked with the Four Knights.

which again, doesn't really make him sound like a badass in any way.

And all his gear stuff in DS3 focuses on him being the last knight standing to defend the Cathedral when Aldrich showed up.

>I really don't get this recent trend of people denying what jumpmakers are straight up telling them what something in their jump does.
Because if the jumpmaker is a lazy asshole, then you have to personally tell someone who reads the jump about the mistake, and what if they take it at face value and never even realize there is a problem with the jump?

In setting, being a man raised as a woman (as opposed to a man raised as a man) is a pretty big difference if you are a guy.

>>55068537
>latching onto small details like a gender pronoun
It's a gender pronoun in section that can and does override earlier parts of the jump, that was brought to the jumpmakers attention do she could clarify the jump if the result was not what she intended. was to fucking lazy to care about.

With literally ANY other maker, this would not even be an issue. They would have gone "Huh, let me fix that for clarity" and then the issue would be dead.

But she is a asshole. And now weeks, months, or even years from now (because the Jumps are packaged pdf's and will have been archived long after the rest of jumpchain is gone) someone who knows the actual rules of English (that male pronouns CAN be gender neutral, but a feminine gender means that specifically almost universally) will make the same exact, and correct-by-the-rules mistake that was specifically pointed out the Valeria.

Because a simple change was not made, because Val feels a sensation akin to sexual gratification whenever she blows someone off.
>>
>>55068499
I don't know how else to emphasize in the perk text that numerous advantages are basically thrown into your lap by schemers hoping to use you in their plans, while simultaneously showing that you're aware and in control of your own path when you start getting sucked up into it and could opt out at the nearest convenience if you so felt like it.

What do you suggest? Because I'm at a loss.

>>55068525
Those seem like really strong points to me.

>>55068597
Anon, that statement was in direct response to someone saying that she did absorb it. But I'm acknowledging how it wouldn't come into play much in the rest of the game.

We get told once in the lore, with a single vague sentence, that this happens. Smough casually and instantly killing someone is basically his job title. I'm not suggesting this is like untying the gordion knot over here.

Seriously though, I'm kind of at a loss. I don't really have some rock steady argument for showing that it was some rare practice or hard to perform. I can't keep arguing with people, but I can't just mark it down for internal balance reasons alone. Both occasions that it gets shown off imply absurd potential growth, Smough (or Ornstein) become far larger and more dangerous compared to just moments before in the fight, and the Nameless King suddenly starts flinging lightning like he was the second coming of Gwyn and starts fuckin flying.

This is already one of the best capstones, it would blow everything else out of the water if it became any cheaper.

It wouldn't have to become cheaper, though. Origin costs are a thing, make it free and restricted to Gods, and raise the price of God to something like 400-500 CP. To be honest, from the start I commented on it primarily because in my opinion, based on what we've seen of those who do benefit from them I got the impression that having a chunk of Gwyn's soul already makes you a massive mystic powerhouse. So to me the 200 CP sounds way, way better than the 600 CP because as I said-you don't have to risk life and limb, wait for one of your comrades to get cut down or hunt down some poor soul with a death wish to benefit from it. Whereas with a chunk of Gwyn's soul-Gwyndolin can cast illusions all over Anor Londo (maybe including ones tangible enough to hurt you), Gwynevere can heal really well, Filianore was the capstone for a magical forcefield that kept the whole abyss from overruning the Ringed City etc.

If your mind is made up, then I won't keep badgering you. But from how I look at it, I consider the 200 CP to be worth far more than the 600 CP because there's a much more solid basis in lore for it to deliver the potential to wield vast power without any kind of sacrifice.

It's no problem anon. It's just frustrating because I believe these are arguments with legitimate points, but I hold a stance that's not really something I can back down from either.

Smough shows off his strength in the game by capably fighting beside Ornstein, as well as emphasis on his eating habits being the reason he couldn't be one of Gwyn's four knights. He's also very large and very strong just by his choice of equipment. Ornstein himself had at least some measure of power connected to Gwyn, since he had a command over lightning that other knights didn't display. Admittedly I don't have anything like that for the others though.

I'd agree that part of NK's success at surviving so long compared to other deities is because of his immense power, which it heavily hinted at being because of probably being Gwyn's kid. While I do believe the 200CP perk has potential at higher levels, the problem is it's battling against something with a lot more potential and really strong feats whenever it did show up in the games.

Nigga. Scroll up, and read the rules-doc at the top of the page:

>Powers can and will draw from the same power source. For example, Reborn! Dying Will Flames and DC Green Lantern Corps rings both draw off willpower, and therefore draw off the same energy source. Pokémon attacks draw off a Power Points pool, which is different. Many attacks will cause stress or fatigue the user, and fatigue is fatigue. be careful not to overexert yourself or you may pass out from the stress on your body.

Albeit, plenty of those other rules are ignored, so take it as you will.

Close enough. Still more impressive than anything my most broken magic build could do in DS1.

>>55069080
I mean if you want to get technical it would be more accurate to say Gwyn and every other god has a little bit of the Light Soul inside of them. Since the background says you're already a god, the 200 CP making you a little extra of one seems a big deal when there are a great many examples of above-average gods around. Most of which seem to be Gwyn's relatives.

>>55069128
>spoiler

That's fair. The main reason I argued so strongly for it, is because not all the gods focus on being knights and that capstone is a very knight thing; there's Velka, I'm 90% sure some of the titanite descriptions in DS1 reference a blacksmith god-and since the scenario seems to focus on you inheriting Gwyn's title, I thought it would be a good opportunity to develop your own thing.

Actually, there's a compromise: Hear me out, since the scenario already has you embracing sunlight4lyfe why not change the 200 CP so it gives you the beginnings of a unique god purview like the ones I brought up? If you feel it's too strong you could also swap it's price with the 400 CP since that perk alone doesn't automatically make you the kind of legendarily buff boss battle whose loot is the stuff of legend.

Also about the NK-I feel like slapping myself, because now I remember if you look closely at his character model his body looks all yucky and hollowed. Which strongly implies that one line in DS1 about Gwyn stripping away his divinity might've meant he literally ripped back his bit of the Lord Soul, leaving him "merely" one of the most powerful warriors to ever exist.
>>
>>55069219
But they aren't, they're different races/evolutionary paths. So, effectively, its a weaker form of Ultimate Lifeform depending on how you read it.
>>
>>55069224
>I'm 90% sure some of the titanite descriptions in DS1 reference a blacksmith god
