Repostan cause thread died right as I did, I'm looking to make a 30k-themed chaos warband, and have decided to make something a little different as the models and colors of the standard legions are a little boring for my tastes.

I know yiffs we're pretty wild back in the HH days, would their blueish grey with heretic bits and some khornate runes look good? The idea of proppa space viking pillagers sounds like a good time, it's what I like about the SoH (cept I hate all their schemes). Plus kitbashing wolf/chaos/30k materials seems like a HUGE range of cool stuff to sort through, and I can finally get some horned helmet wildlings covered in pelts, flayed skin, and all that cool shit.

It's very difficult to fit a Knight into a GK list since GK need a lot of synergy to work, which costs a lot of points. Putting a knight in gives you a lot of dakka but GK can more than make this up with the mortal wounds they dish out every turn.

I think khorne or undivided SW don't seem out of place. I would recommend you make them look more Chaos than SW, i.e. give them chaos star or chaos God icons and CSM or generic armor, and SW heads. Otherwise you'll just look like custom colored SW with wolf shit everywhere

Been reading Eye of Medusa, it's actually rather nice to see the Skitarii in action and actually managing to do things. Ruststalkers are terrifying and a massive handful even for Astartes, Vanguard just don't give up even as the Guard and even some of the Raven Guard are breaking and dying around them, Ironstrider squadrons are trading fairly evenly with Marines. Sicarian hunting packs are ripping a column of separated Iron Hands apart in detail and it is GLORIOUS. Ave Omnissiah, I suppose.

Colossal arachnid Archmagos is wading through fire from an entire army of Chaos Skits and only went down when a fucking IMPERATOR TITAN fired on him, Ordo Reductor doing work, Ordinatii Minoris duelling that Titan and the fortress, hundreds of millions of Skitarii engaging across a sector under the command of the Voice of Mars. So nice to get the Admech as something other than bumbling incompetents.

I remember an old white dwarf which had a 3rd edition game between iron warriors and space wolves. The battle was explicitly meant to be one of two tournament players playing their standard lists against one another.

And the lists were like a handful of marines each, some rhinos and Razorbacks, some scouts/raptors , a predator, a basilisk (woah cheese!)

They looked laughable by today's standards but were WAAC lists then.

all my models are pewter, actually, and almost every single one I play with is painted. Guard have been humbly modelling and painting for years, through good times and bad, because they love their armies. What's the KFF protecting? Because you always have to balance between taking the KFF or simply taking more models. So, if for example you were protecting Boyz, it would have to save 13 Boyz before it made its points back. Or you could just take 13 more Boyz.

If it's protecting the Gorka too it could be more worthwhile however. Nobz and Boss I assume are riding in it. Gorka is nice, but the Dreads on the other hand aren't going to get much done. Dreads are just too fragile for their points in 8th, and they aren't choppy enough either. Haven't used the Blastajet yet, but it seems pretty pricy for what you get.

Consider dropping the Boyz mob PKs for Big Choppas. They're much more cost effective and still let you threaten big stuff.

The old bloodthirster in theory is ugly as fuck compared to the new one but to me it's charming and more importantly actually playable with. Transporting the new one is an exercise in not turning it into a snapped pile of dust as it's a great model, that belongs in a glass display case not a gaming table.

Recently my buddies and I played a game 2.8k game of Dark Angels Ravenwing and Space Wolf 13th Company allies vs Chaos Daemons and Blood Angels allies. We just threw our lists together, combined our CP together, and went at it. Chaos Damons and Blood Angels absolutely rekt the furries and emos thanks to some termie Chaplain invuln-saves witchcraft.

Reminder that:

Once upon a time there was a very friendly Guardanon with a fully painted force who liked to post batreps and WIP and generally be a cool guy. His Guardsmen weren't golden demon, not even high end, but they were pointed perfectly find for how many he had (more than you iirc). Every single time he would post though, there would be one or two autistic fucknuts who would make all sorts of noise about their color and quality. Now he knew they were not great, just like you he painted them simple and clean in batches to stay sane and look good altogether on the table. The shit slinging would not stop though no matter how much of a positive force he was in this thread, like most guardanons are. Eventually it became so bad that to spare the rest of us from constant derailments and shitposting wherever he went....he exiled himself. He set out in a quest to update EVERY SINGLE LAST ONE of his Guardsmen so as to quash his detractors, never again to post a batrep till he was done. He does it for us!
Some say, on certain nights, you can still catch him posting.....always an unfinished pile of Guardsmen in his pics, forever painting.

Quick morale phase question.

If a unit loses models and you chose to take them from the front line of hand to hand combat meaning that the remaining units are outside of 1" is it a) allowed b) does it break combat?

The rules say you pick which to remove but my opponent said you couldn't break from combat this way and weren't allowed to pick units locked in the front line of a fight even though the rules say nothing about this.

Ironically Tyranids. I was a nid player for a long time starting in 5E, but sold my 7k+ points worth as I got tired of them being trash in 6/7e, it's only been me playing against them recently with a pretty shooty iron warriors list that made me realise how fun of an NPC race they are to play against. They make you feel overwhelmed, but then you beat them anyway because they're not actually that good.

Intercessors are more valuable than reivers if you plan on going full primaris as you need boots on the ground to take objectives.

Reivers are bad ass models but they seem a bit average gameplay wise compared to your other options. For example for the price of ten reivers you can get 5 thunder hammer storm shield terminators which are far better at deep striking then assaulting a unit than reivers as they pack a real lunch and are a lot more survivable.

After spending the entire game getting fucked by objectives in a Maelstrom mission, getting fucked by dice rolls, and my opponent getting exceedingly lucky on his objectives...

Right now most of the Tau line up is crap. They have some OP units in commanders and drones but outside of S5 shooting all their guns are low volume of fire guns on bs4 platforms.

It's weird, on the tabletop 40k dominated while fantasy was like the ugly stepchild in sales.
