that's a good thing though, FW was a god damn mess and took forever on everything. They need a proper boot in the ass so they can actually utilize the IP they have properly because they are sitting on millions of potential profit. Take Tomb Kings in WHFB and how they were squatted. These fuckers could spend a day in CAD and print out conversion sets for skellies in Age of Sigmar that make them look like Tomb Kings and then make lots of money off that. Just one idea in a whole bucket of ideas that are guaranteed money.

Those are pretty generic and should work well with just about anything. The Dreadclaw is the trickiest one since they have much narrower use in 8th. I'd guess not Alpha Legion, since AL have other cheaper ways to for alternative deployment. Emperor's Children might be a good option as Noise Marines could appreciate the Dreadclaw.

I still have Burning of Prospero box lying around and think about painting it. I want to use the 1Ksons parts as basis for a chaos space marines army, the loyalists for Ultramarines.

Thinking of doing a bit of conversion on the Stormraven I just picked up.

Mostly I think the turret looks a bit silly? Also I'd like to avoid having visible pilots given they aren't remotely to scale with the vehicle itself. My main thought there is to just paint them up as tinted windows, but I also run a shit ton of dreads so I'll put some superficial thought into mounting a sarcophagus as a dread pilot... Only if I can think of a way to make it look good of course.

Homestly thbe reason why melee is "good" is because a slew of traditionally light CC units (wyches since 5th ed, assault marines, boyz and whatnot) received buffs to make them viable against their shooty brethren. With the WS chart gone and generally pumping out more attacks (often at similar stats or better than the common ranged weaponry) as long as you have a delivery mechanism said melee units can deal damage.

Its gets even more viable now that multi-assaults are dead easy and can easily deny large amounts of enemy forces the ability to return fire even if they fall back (this is why you don't fuck with harlequins because they phase THROUGH you to get to the juicy stuff).

The ability to have CC weapons that offer somethingb etween meh and turbo dead - such as hellions' glaives - means these CC units now have a use.

Death Guard feel really poorly written.

Mortarion is written very 'nurgle' even before his corruption, to a silly degree. Having 7 guys walk 49 (7x7) paces behind him is just stupid. Having his legion be 'tough guys who resist poison and shit' while he was brought up on a planet charectarized by poison gas is just too convenient.

Despite all this convenience though, it really doesn't matter for their fall. Their fall comes out of nowhere with no setup and no lead up into it. All the weird 7 shit, all the poison stuff from before while being related to Nurgle doesn't influence anything. They just kill off their navigators and get trapped in the warp. If that event hadn't happened, I don't see them falling to nurgle. And again, set it up.

With Magnus, Fulgrim and Angron you had degrees of set up and logic behind their fall. With the Death Guard is just kind of happens for no reason.

Up until their last abomination of a codex the archon spent his time being a dedicated character killer. He existed to fuck a force commander up but had issues dealing with a tactical squad. Currently the archon does a pathetic amount of damage and his buff is worthless when - even with the shitastic weapon options he gets - are best suited to being paired with units that DON'T share the keyboard (that is to say, roll him with incubi, grotesques or bloodbrydes).

In short he needs an extra attack and needs more powerful CC options - even if its a simple as making the huskblade more dangerous.

I hate to say it, but I don't think an Archon should have those because those are wych cult stuff. Succubus, absolutely should, but it doesn't feel right on an Archon. He's supposed to chill with his court in a venom, which was always the intention. However, that is hardly a worthwhile use of points and money. I could see an Archon going through the Scourge process, though so wings should totally be an option. His aura definitely needs a boost, though.

Been reading Eye of Medusa, it's actually rather nice to see the Skitarii in action and actually managing to do things. Ruststalkers are terrifying and a massive handful even for Astartes, Vanguard just don't give up even as the Guard and even some of the Raven Guard are breaking and dying around them, Ironstrider squadrons are trading fairly evenly with Marines. Sicarian hunting packs are ripping a column of separated Iron Hands apart in detail and it is GLORIOUS. Ave Omnissiah, I suppose.

Or all the Tzeentch stuff they put into Thousand Sons. Like how the Prospero game tiles were made to contain hidden Chaos imagery, referencing the taint that was brewing beneath the surface. Or all the bird themes cults.

It's the same old prequel syndrome, where everything in the past has to be tied to the future, no matter how little sense it makes. I'm not against Chaos corrupting or tempting the primarchs along the way, but it'd make sense for the uncorrupted and the corrupted to have some difference between each other. Make the 10,000 years in between matter something. Now it's just Horus Heresy and M41/42. Nothing of note happened between the two.

It should be D6 against anything not a vehicle but that would help a lot. I'd prefer it to have an inherent +1 S now that archons lost combat drugs (plus that would help at taking a chunk out of the really big boys).
