I've got ~6000 points of Dark Angels, but while I'm waiting for a DA Codex to drop, I'd decided to expand my forces into a general Imperium army. The obvious first choice is an IG conscript blob because they are so points-effective and bodies win games in 8th, but I'm personally more interested in being a fun opponent than a WAAC metaplayer. Sisters seem cool fluff-wise, but they don't seem to offer much that I can't get with my spess mahreens... am I wrong? What do you think I should get as my first non-DA Imperium unit? Inquisition? A Knight? I'm fishing for fun ideas.

Just played a game of Konor with a Chaos vehicle-heavy list.
Got my shit wrecked horribly, turns out he can take three dreadnoughts for the price of my land raider; and they're all better in combat than both my maulerfiend and my soul grinder.
The former no longer gets rerolls to charge and has shredded 2" movement, whilst the latter has a ton of wasted points thrown into mandatory 5+ shooting:

Needless to say, Chaos codex did nothing, we're still shit, Konor missions punish Chaos.

Honestly he won't make it to the enemy most of the time if he's on foot. He's too much of an obvious threat to not eat multiple lascannons and too vulnerable to survive concentrated shooting unless you also bring tyrant guard, which are honestly a waste of points.

Gotta put that fucker in a Tyrannoctye.
>>
>>54866569
Interdasting. Keep in mind he is actually fairly squish so try and keep him out of line of sight of tanks. He is in my opinion worth it for 5 turns of double moves and the potential counter charge that he brings to the table, similar to how girlyman is worth it just for the rerolls

>Needless to say, Chaos codex did nothing, we're still shit, Konor missions punish Chaos.
YOU WOT?

you took a force that wasn't capable of beating the mission. THAT WAS YOUR PROBLEM.

Consider:
the mission is .. wipe the enemy out (so you have more points than him) or GET EVERYTHING OFF THE TABLE.

for all units moving 12 inches and advancing you need 4 turns to get everything off the table.
12 + avg advance roll of 3 if everything was on the edge of the deployment zone.

you are better off trying to outscore him. destroy his vehicles first so he can't score double points.

instead i pushed my oponne'ts shit in.

i took 3 squads of csm with missle launchers 1 havock squad with 4 lascanons lord in terminator armor + sorceror. Black legion and marks of tzench on all the units.

i knew i wasn't getting off the table so i focus fired teh shit out of him. in 2 turns i summoed 4 units of pink horrors and pushed forward. the horros absorbed the brunt of the damage (not much one unit was reduced to 2. i lead the charge with my helldrake. killed his flyer with havocks.

in the end i got 4 pts he had 0 and on turn 5 he had 2 marines + his commander. i had everything + 4 units of pink horrors. total casualties on my end 1 CSM and 8 pink horrors.

because losing your metal boxes is preferable to losing the dudes inside?
Or maybe because even if you put 10 meltas in melta range of an enemy tank there's the chance you still roll like shit and get 1,1,1,1,1,1,2,2,1,1 like i did last game?

I should've said AT weapons, not tanks, but also most tanks can take a chunk out of him.
The tyrannocyte is very sound advice tho for sure. Drop him next to the trygon and genestealers, move the stealers, hope for a 8" charge for trygon(pretty likely), keep swarm out of LOS, then get him stuck in next turn if u can. Very potent combination.

This week's and last week's missions have been decidedly less in favor of Imperium than the first. Admittedly yes, the mission this week does favor Imperium via deployment (ie a melee army has to travel 36" instead of the standard 18-24" to get in range of enemies) but this is better than the first week. I'm going to assume that since the week Chaos should have had all the advantages was massively imperium biased that the final weeks are going to have a strong Chaos bias to give Chaos a chance at all.

i used the terrain (mainly buildings to block line of sight and focus fire on units one at a time. he deployed trying to cover all avenues of advance while i centraly deployed for the most part behind a fuck huge building. 1st turn i channeled everything into 1st squad and charged it with my helldrake. he spent the next 2 turns repositioning the remaining units. by the time the 1`st unit was wiped the blob of horrors was ready to pounce on the other 2 units. helldrake went to work on emperor's champion while this was going on.

he badly placed his flyer and let my havocks and 1 squad of CSM take it down. it ended top of 5.

i used my helldrake to basically tie up his forces that were going to help engage.

I rolled for the mission and deployment while he was reading through what Orders did, and we ended up with Secure and Control! I put my objective tucked away on the bottom floor of some ruins in my zone, while the Guard stuck theirs on the roof of a small bunker, with the Punisher parked on the ground floor sticking it's turret out the window and getting cover. His command squad and their Autocannon nestled atop a 3-story tower in his zone to get sight of most of the map, while the commander and astropath hung out below and the infantry spread out to form a firing line

TURN 1

I got first turn, because, I mean, I had 4 units to his 9, and advanced downfield. The Shining Spears covered most of the distance and stopped in some rubble to try and avoid line of sight from the Punisher and infantry, while the WIndriders rushed up and opened fire. One squadron tore into the vets and deleted 7 of them after morale. The other Windriders unwisely rushed down a narrow hallway at an infantry squad, failing to get line of sight for one of the bikes and so only mulching 4 guardsmen. Warlock attempted a smite, but the hiding Astropath denied it.

on the Guard's turn, the now 6-man infantry squad at point-blank range with some windriders got a First Rank Fire Second Rank Fire order and chewed through 5 of their 6 wounds. So the Commissar got a 6th in with his bolt pistol. Which I command pointed to reroll the save, and made it. The Autocannon looking over the battlefield managed to pop a Shining Spear it has LoS of, and the Punisher absolutely obliterated my other Windrider squadron, to the last. Commissar Gallant led his full-strength squad around the battlefield avoiding line of sight of my bikes, in an effort to flank/reach my deployment zone and take my unguarded objective. Commissar Goofus charged the last, wounded Windrider, took an overwatch shuriken to the dick, and beat it to death with his chainsword. So I spent another command point, and again made the save.

You have brought shame to us, brother. The mission was easily winnable, especially against regular marines.

You blundered straight into your opponent's hands, who brought nothing but anti-vehicle. I suppose we trusted you to be more cunning than the iron-headed servants of the corpse-god.

TURN 2

my lone, wounded Windrider fell back and swooped into the building the Commander and Astropath were in, in a last ditch effort to avenge half my army. The Shining Spears and Warlock circled around some terrain and ended up on a side of the punisher's bunker with no windows, and dumped their full round of shooting up at the Command Squad and 3 remaining Vets instead, wiping them to the man. The lone Windrider shaved 2 wounds off the Commander, and the Warlock cast Enhance. Which failed. So I used my 3rd CP to get it through, while the Astropath failed to Deny. Now, the rulebook says units with Fly ignore all terrain while moving, and you dont seem to actually need LoS to declare a charge, so the Enhanced Shining Spears break down the fucking wall of the bunker in their chivalric NEED to joust a tank, denying it overwatch of any kind due to it not having LoS when they actually DECLARED the charge. Unfortunately, without spending any of their shooting phase on it and missing a spear, they only manage to shave 4 wounds off of it.

On the guard's turn, the Russ defiantly remained in melee to deny the Shining Spears the chance to get another charge off. Squad Gallant continued their flanking maneuver towards my objective, while Squad Goofus moved back into some cover and took aim at the Windrider suicide bombing their commanding officer. The last windrider dies handily, and the Astropath attempts Gaze of the Emperor. And gets a 3 on the roll for Range, failing to gaze at anything. The Russ fails to harm the spears in melee, but the Guard player is content to spend the turn consolidating his position and advancing on my objective.

Currently considering an Alpha Legion army, but a theme I can't decide on. I'm thinking either Camo all over them and almost no identifying marks(Aside from what's obvious in the FW upgrade kits) or going full false flag of another chapter, probably Ultramarines or maybe Crimson Fists "Alpha Company". Planning to use mainly HH models and such, CSM range is too old and disorderly for what I want. Thoughts?
>>
Hellblasters are better than devastators, sure a lascannon is longer range but it's a very expensive weapon to put on a 1 wound model.

Hellblasters with an apothecary is better. Regenerating D3 wounds is better than bringing back a single guy.

not quite.. they had los to 1 squad.. when he brought the flyer in he put it behind a building but peeking out.. he attempted to block los to the havocks but still see a CSM squad to try wipe it out. he din't place it right (they could see 50% of the fighetr. i gave him the cover bonus but still 4 las cannons with presience got it down to 1 wound.. one havock squad fired back and finished it.

if the havocks hadn't been able to shoot at it they would of engaged the 1st 10 man squad instead. and the other 2 csm missle launchers would of fired on the fighter (might of surived with a few wounds left over.

3x 5 csm 1 missle launcher 1 combi plasma re-rolling 1's due to lord's precence

he did spread out too far to cover all avenues of advance. but i kinda force him with my mainly centered deployment. i din't signal ahead till my last drop with the havocks.

TURN 3

My Shining Spears fall back, because whacking a Leman Russ with Strength 3 sticks felt like a dumb plan. They circle around and use the Russ itself to block LoS from Squad Goofus, and dump their lances and shuriken catapults into it, managing to reduce it to a single wound (thanks, Exarch!). The Warlock follows the Spears in and charges.... Which is when I remember it had a hull-mounted heavy flamer, and it knocks a wound off my Warlock. The Warlock swings with his Witchblade, though, and...! Watched the tank make every armor save. I had tried to manifest Smite that turn, but it got Denied by the Astropath again.

On the guard's turn, Gallant does their thing and gets within spitting distance of the building I planted my objective in. Squad Goofus move up into a piece of cover with Commander Kreel, and lament how far away they deployed from their own objective. With the Warlock in melee and the tank blocking LoS, they can't engage the remaining Eldar. The Astropath manages another Gaze of the Emperor, and blasts my Warlock down to a single wound. In the fight phase, the Russ awkwardly parallel parks at us aggressively, while the Warlock continues to fail to knock the last fucking wound off the damn thing.

TURN 4
The Spears decide they should probably go do something productive, fly through the wall of the bunker, and crash through a new wall to get at the creamy center of Squad Goofus, their commissar, and the Company Commander. The Warlock falls back and decides to engage maximum elven scumbag tactics, positioning himself on a table edge, in a corner, exactly 25" from the Astropath, and casts Smite, finally dropping that fucking tank. The spears casually erase the Astropath as they fly past in the shooting phase, and charge the infantry in front of them. Commissar Goofus and Commander Kreel both engage Heroic Intervention and dive into the melee - the Spears wipe 4 of the Guardsmen while the Exarch duels the commander 1v1, and manages to kill him. Though only because of the 2 wounds my Windrider squeezed in with their last breath. The Guardsmen and Commissar swing back, but only deal a single wound.

On the Guard's turn, Squad Gallant reaches my objective and advances one last time to fully entrench themselves in the building I put it in, the commissar at the rear while guardsmen man the windows. Squad Goofus takes the fight to the aliens, and the Commissar manages to drop them to 3 models, but on the Shining Spears' retaliation they kill him and his remaining two men.

My opponent rolls to see if the match ends (we figured such a small scale game, we can start that on turn 4 instead of 5) but it doesnt. So he looks me in the eye and dares me to take my Objective from him.

TURN 5

the Warlock, bleeding out and just really not feeling it anymore, putters up to the roof of the tank's punker and parks his bike to secure the objective. The 3 Shining Spears rush downfield in a desperate attempt to push a full-strength Guardsmen squad plus Commissar off our objective, but can't reach Charge range. Best they can manage is empty their shuriken catapults, AND... fail to kill even a single Guardsmen with that fucking 4+ save in cover.

The guard player has a single model in his guard squad move, as Flamer Frank runs screaming to the front of the squad to get within range. The full squad opens up with lasguns and Frank gets 5 hits, blasting a 3rd Shining Spear to shit. Commissar Goofus charges..... and the Exarch lands an overwatch shot with the Star Lance, obliterating him. The Guard rolls to see if the match ends, and CPs it when it doesnt, because he gleefully has 10 men on my objective, and things end there.

So we tally up Victory Points. He has 10 men uncontested on my Objective. He secured First Blood when his tank ripped apart a trio of Windriders, and he had Linebreaker with his squad buried up to their dicks in my deployment zone.

I had my Warlock uncontested on his objective, Who also gave me Linebreaker, and I got Slay The Warlord when my Exarch ran over Commander Kreel.

So, our forray into 8e proceeded to end with a total Draw, a 5 Victory Points each. But he considered it a moral victory anyway, because fuck elves.

And that's that battle report!

Most FW buyers would never admit it, but unless the model they are buying is merely a better looking alternate version of an existing model(e.g. khorne berzerkers) then they are buying it for the rules.
You wouldn't buy a more expensive but objectively worse model. You probably wouldn't even buy a more expensive model that had rules on par with a model was was available in GW plastic.

Ork Freeboota git here, (I posted >>54850126 over on the Fate of Konor thread).

Vehicle vs anti-vehicle has nothing to do with it. The question is: was he more focused on fighting the other Iron Hands player, or was he more focused on those victory points by reaching the "Exit Route" on the defender's side of the board.

My goal the entire time was to get enough boyz off the table through the exit route before my IG opponent could take them down. Just barely managed to pull off a 7-6 victory (would've been 9-6 if one of my trukks had rolled a 6 instead of a 5 to advance... bloody thing was half-way off the table, but I couldn't get it all the way out before the Guard player managed to take it out.

>Disc of Tzeentch
It depends on how aggressively you intend to use your sorcerer. But RAW means he loses his own aura buff due to his keyword changing and it lost the +1T it used to have so right now it's kind of shitty.

As for the sorcerer cabal, in matched play you are only allowed to use non-smite a single time so any amount of sorcerers over 3 is going to be redundant... and that's not even to mention how few points you'll have leftover for the infantry needed to hide them behind. Might be fun in a narrative game involving summoning.
>>
>>54867591

Currently the disc is a trap because it takes away the infantry tag, which you need to benefit from your own aura. I've heard that this is getting fixed though.

no.
you don't need to use FW minis for their rules.
cheap conversions and scratchbuilds are the norm for those who only want the game advantage.

Someone with the actual model (that isn't a recast) has it for the mini. You don't spend a lot more than you need to for a game advantage.

Anyone else try to fill their depression hole with 40k minis? It might not get me a gf but the rush of spending money sure is nice for moments.

Looking for some suggestions on new models to pick up for my AdMech army, i've currently got.

Belisarious Cawl
3x Tech-priest Dominus
1x Cybernetica Datasmith
5x Sicarian Infiltrators
30x Skitarii Vanguard
10x Skitarii Rangers
3x Kataphran Destroyers
2x Kastelan Robots
3x Onager Dunecrawler

I was thinking of an Imperial knight of some sort(for fun and flavour) but id love some suggestions

A knight probably isn't a bad thing to get. What are the 3 destroyers you have built as? Grav and plasma both are more or less viable at least so having a squad of each isn't the worst idea.

There's also Dragoons/Ironstriders but they're at best meh atm depending on who you ask.

The cultist respawn is the greatest fucking thing ever. I played a Konor mission today with termies, lord, and sorcerer in reserve with a few other units at the 18" mark including a blob of 40 cultists. End of T1 movement, I picked up my cultists, and placed them right at the edge of the map exit. Then, I dropped all my deep strikers right next to them. The Marine player just didn't have the means to suddenly nope then off the table. On my turn I just slid off for free points.

god i wish i had thought of that i would of done that.

did you have a force restriction? my store had 45 power level + battalion (+3cp) and 1 vehicle minimum. What was your force?

if i could have done that i think i would of gon with the elite choice + lord + sorceror in terminator armor. marks of tzench on both and the terminators/cultists. deep strike everything exept the cultists.. do the cultist pop to bubble wrap the whole thing. then summoned pink horrors to top it off. They may not have it in the game (I haven't completely read the new edition's rules yet), but in the lore, the books, of which I've read dozens, they most certainly slice through astartes power armor.
>>
>>54867888
But that still doesn't expect what they expect to accomplish using those weapons instead of just bolters or knives.

There has to be at least SOME penetration.

We played 1500pts. Mine was a battalion with a Lord, Sorcerer, cultists, 10 Marines in a rhino, 5 Marines on foot, 5 raptors, and 10 terminators, so it was totally legal in your restrictions. It was glorious. I nuked a unit off the board with combi-plasma to secure another VP, then claimed 5 more points while denying my warlord. He couldn't actually win because I only had 4 VP left on the table.
>>
>>54867909

The problem with your argument is that prior to 8th edition GW rules were far and away more broken and overpowered on average. Nothing in FW ever compared to Daemon summong, scatterbikes, 2++ re-rollables etc

99% of FW units are junk or average. There's maybe, what, four that are overpowered?
>>
>>54867901

>Strike Squads are there to teleport my transports and anyone who needs it. If enemy infantry is bountiful they can teleport themselves and clean house with Storm Bolters.

>Paladins are there to ride in the raider until their target is within range

>Raider ferries around big boys and gets teleported while whipping up a lot of bullets using the occasional psybolt stratagem

>Purgs ride in the razors and get out the back to shoot using the razor as cover and using astral aim cheese with onslaught stratagem ammunition

>Razors are metal boxes with big guns on them meant to be teleported initially so I can use Lascannons without penalty if they don't move before the tp

Power weapons are kind of like a light saber. They just shred almost anything. Chain swords are generally for shredding unarmored up to perhaps astartes power armor, but can't really do shit to a vehicle, dreadnaught or terminator unless you got really lucky and cut a joint or power cable or something.
>>
>>54867909
They could be familiar with them. In antiquity knights fought with weapons that couldn't pierce armor. They aimed for weak spots and shit. Could be the same for them.
>>
>>54867909
The penetration is shown as failed armor saves.
The astartes, heretic and loyal, are aiming for joints and such with these weapons, the extra attack granted from wielding chain weapons is supposed to represent that the blade is still spinning after making contact I think.

31 years old, slept with 94 different women thus far and i can't remember most of them except that I got to 94 from remembering 93, etc. Can verify, for every one night stand or 1 month relationship or whatever, it's not worth it nearly any of the time.

Now I'm getting to the age where women want to settle down and I have zero desire to marry or have kids. Maybe when I'm in my 40s.

being single sucks, but it's really grass being greener. when you're with someone you have to sacrifice what you want to be with them, and if you REALLY care about them then you fear losing them and that's a whole other can of worms to deal with.

Also, not that you asked but NEVER FUCK SOMEONE YOU WORK WITH/AROUND.

Except they didn't, maces, warhammers, estocs and poleaxes were all knight weapons made to defeat plate, because the 'chinks' in the armor were not only hard to hit with any significant force but also protected by chainmail and stuff.

>>54867948
Yeah but then eviscerators and chainaxes would have the extra attack too, right? Hitting a joint is nearly impossible with any significant force against a moving, actively defending target.

Power armor also lacks joints in any vital area.

Nah I don't think so, if power swords were lightsabers they should be able to bisect a tank, but then power fists would have no reason to exist and it's not how they're reflected on the tabletop anyway.

>>
>>54867974
I think that's the reasoning behind it, I'm basing this entirely off of my interpretation of the lore behind the rules, as well as the old Fantasy Flight games versions of them. I might be wrong.
But considering chain weapons have been shown to cut through armor sometimes, I'm probably right.
>>54868032
Oh yeah, good point, I have no idea why chainaxes don't have an extra attack.
I guess sometimes the spinning of the blades helps cut through the armor, chainswords show this through extra attacks, chainaxes show this through -1AP.
A chainaxe does have a much broader "blade", so maybe chainswords just have an easier time using the cutting blade to make "extra attacks" while a chainaxe, being able to put a little more force behind it, has an easier time of actually damaging the armor.
Also I'd count the arm as a vital area, while it's possible for a human to survive and practically unheard of for an astartes to die of a severed arm, it does effectively take you out of the fight.
>>
>>54868130
Sure if the tank just sat there and didn't do anything. Even lightsabers take a while to cut through dense stuff.
>>
>>54868141

>Transports allow you to get assault units like berserkers into combat faster with less risk
>Transports let you manouevere ob sec units to the objectives they need to capture
>Transports are actually incredibly survivable , even melta can flop as it's still wounding a rhino on a 3.
>The transport itself can be used to block a units LOS that you plan to charge, meaning the unit can't overwatch.
>A transport can play bumper cars and charge another unit or vehicle once it's unit has been deployed. Though it will be ineffectual it will prevent that unit from shooting and can continue to chase it until your opponent wastes time dealing with your empty transport.

Get a basic idea of how you want to organize guys, assuming they're multipart kit boyz, and not just snapfit starter set boyz. If they're snapfit starter stuff... just put them together. Everything from the last big starter set (Warboss, Nobz, Slugga Boyz and Deathkoptas) are pretty useful as is. If you have boyz boxes, you got a few decisions to make, like Sluggas or Shootas, and if you want to save up any rokkits you have to start building tankbusters (you probably do). And a boyz box, or even the snapfit boyz, can be used to expand on a lot of specialty troops. If you can slap a jump pack on a boy, he's a stormboy, if he's got a burna, he's a burna boy, etc.

Enjoy your army!
>>
>>54868169
Ultras are probably the best honestly raven guard and salamanders would be the other two contenders and primaris don't mesh particularly well with them, lacking special weapons and long range fire on quite a few of their units.
>>
>>54868169
Haven't played Primaris (or my Marines at all in 8th yet) but on paper Ultras, RG, Salamanders and IF (depending on the cover concentration of your average battlefield) should be good. IH is also a decent allrounder choice.

I think I'd be more inclined to run Salamanders on normal Marines, as that reroll is better on a Lascannon or Thunder Hammer than the bulk fire Primaris units put out. RG is nice, but if you know your meta has a lot of 1st chargers and fast armies it may have less value.

Ultras is never a bad choice, that much is true at least, especially if you're running Aggressors and Hellblasters.
>>
>>54868148
I dunno man, the arm joints on power armor are like, very very small. A traitor and a loyalist would just keel parrying each other forever... Maybe if the blades had enough weight to give a concussion, or take a lot of energy to get a real cut or something.

>>54868151
Still man, it would cripple the tank just by cutting the tracks. And you have to get close with the power fist too.

Why would power axes and mauls work differently otherwise?

Well I think that's what hit and wound rolls are supposed to represent, I don't know if you've ever had loyalist and heretic astartes trying to kill each other in melee with only chainswords but it's pretty difficult.
Heretics win out in melee from Death to False Emperor special rule granting even more attacks though.

Does this stratagem mean you can cast smite twice? Because this could get pretty broken with Magnus
>>
>>54868406
No, the restriction's still apply.
>>
>>54868406
Magnus isn't in the codex you dumb fuck. That's a prerequisite for using the stratagems.
>>
>>54868406
I think it still follows standard psychic phase restrictions, it just means he can cast smite and his three other knows psychic powers.
It seems most psykers know one more power than they can cast.
>>
>>54868406
I don't see anything saying you can cast the same power again, just you get to cast an additional power.
>>
>>54868420
Your army must be battleforged using the rules for Chaos Space Marines codex.
However, index battlesheets are still allowed to be used, but Magnus in your army means you miss out on Legion traits.
Best bet is to put him in a secondary supreme command Detachment along with some other HQ's, like Ahriman, some daemons, or something else from chaos because he can still be target for said stratagems.
You need a battleforged CSM detachment to have access to the stratagems, you don't need to be in said detachment to be a legal target.

Funny how Razorbacks are appearing in tournament lists and nobody has seen a Repulsor in any of them yet.

Your 300+ points tank is obsolete for the rest of the game as soon as one of my rhinos charges it. If you use it as a transport you're leaving it vulnerable to assault. If you sit it back as a gunboat you're not using it as a transport. It's also a big target that will get slagged fast against any concentrated fire from lascannons or melta drops.

Meanwhile my army of Razorbacks can throw out more firepower at a wider range and are dispersed targets all the while transporting models around and individually being relatively disposable.

Enjoy your ugly $100 plastic paper weight though.
>>
>>54868462
The repulsor was released two weeks ago dumbshit.

Are Poxwalkers actually any good?

I know they're relatively cheap, but they can't really hurt anything, don't have an armour save and they get shredded really really easily.

Would I not be better off with Plague Marines who are super resilient with special weapons as troops even if they're way more expensive?
>>
>>54868784
poxwalkers arent for killing, Theyre for plopping a bunch on an objective so you dont have to devote more valuable resources to it
>>
>>54868784
Ive played against them like 5 times. Usually 2 to 3 blobs of 20 with the guy that lets them roll twice for advancing. If you can protect the character they can move up the board damn quick. They never seem to do much damage in combat but are a decent tarpit/screening unit for characters. If whoever youre playing against has any decent snipers then expect them to be crawling painfully across the board all game
>>
>>54868813
They die to literally anything though. I know they can be buffed up a bit, but they still get shredded without any issues

360 points plus Typhus to take advantage of their buffs, to crawl slowly up the board and get wrecked by anything with a decent number of shots or attacks

My skin is extremely simple. Maybe too simple.
It's just a base of Pallid Wych Flesh, a wash and then Pallid Wych Flesh again.

The wash is custom, it's basically a Daemonette Hide wash.

I made it by mixing the grey wash from Vallejo and Druchii Violet until I obtain the right colour.

The purple is just Xereus purple, nuln oil, then genestealer purple and dechala lilac.

Raven Guard let you circumvent the need for the stupid Repulsor, so they're always a nice pick. Salamanders are great as Primaris emphasizes MSU playstyle, which means you get more mileage out of the rerolls. Imperial Fists are a great pick when you're going heavy on Aggressors and Intercessors and Iron Hands in combination with the multiple wounds makes them tough. The Cronos is a buff engine that only works in melee, so effectively it will only ever help Covens, Wyches, Mandrakes and Incubi, but it's really nice for those.
The Talos is great, but some of its options are honey traps. The Chain Flails and the Ichor Injector are both vastly inferior to just keeping the Macro-Scalpels and the Heat Lances and Splinter Cannons aren't that useful as an option. But if you just give him the Stinger Pod and the two Scalpels, you end up with a pretty tough and killy model. Just... don't send him at Terminators, you have Grotesques to deal with those.

>A chainaxe

The logic GW use here is that the an axe is more tip-heavy, making its blow stronger but the tradeoff is that it waste more stamina to use and you won't be able to handle it as fast as a more balanced weapon like sword which give an extra attack to reflect the user as being more agile.

I think the stat of the chainsword in SW:A make more sense : fixed strenght and decent AP.
>>
>>54869470
Get one of the starter boxes. The one with the Spess Mehreens and the Plague Mehreens. That way you get two decent armies cheaper than buying separately, and get the rulez.
>>
>>54869465
Don't bother with a melee weapon and pistol on the Rangers. The Arquebus has a 60" range, the Rangers should never even be in a position where they can use the pistol or melee weapon. You're better off keeping the Galvanic Rifle on him so he can contribute with the rest of the squad. Those points are better spent on an Omnispex.

Skitarii pistols are kind of a trap, their base weapons are almost always better and they'll almost never even survive long enough to make use of them in close combat.

Dark Imperium is the best value box set you can buy and gives you two armies to start with. You can then choose which one of those to expand with.

If neither of those appeal to you then just buy the start collecting box of whatever army interests you.

Likewise Google 'how to paint X army's for whatever you pick find a tutorial and pick up whatever paints that tutorial says.

You'll need your armies respective index or codex if they have one for all the rules and units and the main rulebook for the core rules of the game.
>>
So you got your new shiny codex and you're still losing. 3 editions now. I think it's time for chaos players to admit that it's not their army that's the problem but rather their lack of faith in the emperor of mankind.

I'd say the best first step is visit a store.
The people at my local are all decent, and willing to guide. The manager is top shelf too, and I think they'll all show you how to play.
Watching people play is a good way to get a look at what armies may interest you, and you can take it from there.
Best option is to pick up a Start Collecting box fir whichever army takes your fancy, or even better, a Dark Imperium/Vengeance, if you can find someone to split it with. That way you get a rule book, too.
>>
>>54869511
Chaos players just aren't very good at the game because they have a tween edgelord mentality. They had a brief period in 3.5 where they had an overpowered codex which made them all feel like tactical geniuses and when they got the nerf bat they all realised they sucked at the game but instead of getting gud they just blamed their army and codex.

As mentioned then, Dark Imperium is a good buy if Nurgle is your kind of guy. You could also probably find just the Nurgle half much cheaper online, or even the whole box; I saw the version with just the miniatures for $100AU at a local store; I'm tempted to buy it just for something to paint on a rainy day because thats good value.

Anyway, if you're not up for Nurgle, then I'd look at the CSM Codex (which should be in the Mega now) and get a feel for your options, then ask about what specifically is good for the Legion and/or God you decide to build around; there are way too many options otherwise.
>>
>>54869565

You're barking up the wrong tree, I collect wolves and orks.

I'm just saying, after looking through their codex- their models are just extremely outdated and ugly, but it seems like even GW treats them as a NPC race that will always exist just because although they suck massive cyberdongs

Most people play at 2000 points today, so you can go grab some extra stuff.

Drop the terminators, they are objectively worse than strikes and paladins in every concievable way.

Give the dread a twin heavy flamer and an underslung flamer, and drop him out of the storm raven. 3d6 autohits are scary as fuck. On the other hand, give him a lascannon and missle launcher, stral aim and plunk him down on an objective out of LOS.

I dont know how many interceptors you've got there, but I'd honestly say drop them. Interceptors need to be spammed to be good.

Find room for a purgation squad. 4 psilencers, give them astral aim or gate of infinity.

Swap all your psycannons for psilencers, psilencers are great for the price now.

Get more paladins, as they function as our workhorses, or strikes, who are our objective grabbers. Supporting characters like ancients or apothecaries also are great in conjunction with paladins.

Strikes grab gate, paladins grab sanctuary or hammerhand, interceptors(if you must keep them) grab hammerhand, grandmaster grabs sanctuary and purge soul, voldus grabs vortex, gate and sanctuary.

The GM dreadknight is yor warlord, give him first to the fray.

Your list could do well with a lascannon or two (mainly depends on your meta, tho, mine is pretty vehicle/monster heavy)

Get to work, brother of titan.

Hey Anon, I made some changes around what you recommended yesterday. Stripped down the LR and added some psilencers to the paladin squads. Shuffled the psychic powers around too. Now it's a neat 2000 points exactly. The only thing I'm missing that I feel could be useful is the Stormraven's twin melta. How does this look?

Looking great, anon! I like your selection of psychic powers!

Where does the champion jump into, thenraven or the raider?

Once again, this is more a case of preference, but I usually give my paladins halberds or swords, falchions work best on PAGK. But thats really not something to sweat over.

The miltimelta on the stromraven would really round out your list well, since your only high strength weapon at range is yor stormraens lascannon. If you an find a way to sneak it in somehow, go for it.
Otherwise, great list, may the Emperor protect your soul.

They are simple but allow for tactical depth, which is the ideal. Almost everything you listed is an emergent result of the rules interactions, not rules in and of themselves.

Utterly extinct game. They only get sales from people wanting to display LotR models.
>>
>>54869915
>So the enemy unit that you've consolidated into can only Fall Back or Charge on their turn?

It gets to fight the unit that consolidated into it on the same turn the consolidation happened.

On its turn it can fall back or fire with pistols and attack in the fight phase as normal. It can't charge the unit that consolidated into it as you can't charge units within 1" you nor can you charge after falling back.
>>
>>54869976
Fair enough, anon.
>>
>>54869804
I was thinking of keeping the champion in the raider with the hammerhand paladins initially. I haven't modelled the paladins yet, so I'll look into halberds and swords.

With the Stormraven, It's 37 points for the multimelta which is a tough one to squeeze in. The easiest thing to do would be to remove the dreadknight's 40 point heavy incinerator and use the remaining points to put the storm bolter back on the land raider, leaving me at 1999.

The idea of teleporting or gating it and being able to use the incinerator is nice though, but I foresee problems killing tanks without the melta.

Thanks for the C&C, brother

>>Removed vehicle facing rules, removing models from direction of firer and firing arcs/Los meaning positioning is meaningless.
Facing is meaningless, positioning is not. I don't think you understand what "positioning" means. Also this removes subjective judgement call scenarios from the rules, which is a massive improvement to a game system that is not designed to always be played with an impartial judge present.

>Removed cover rules meaning you may as well play on a blank canvas

>>
>>54870028
>>Removed cover rules meaning you may as well play on a blank canvas
What is line of sight blocking?
>>Removed morale
I'm sure there will be things that force moral tests in phases with a fixed modifier like a straight -3 or -6 whatever without causing prioer casualties or stacking with the modifier for casualties as well.
Maybe even something to force a moral test between shooting and fighting without waiting to the morale phase etc.

(For example, you shoot a squad, force them to morale check, they lose a couple more guys so they are softer before you charge them) Don't know if that would ever really work, just thinking aloud.

>Rules still as pointlessly convoluted with multiple actual tactical features gone.
What are some examples of things that feel convoluted? Everything feels very simple now in my opinion.

Ok, stupid question.

Can a unit that fire, with the help of the Auspex scan, benefit from the Primaris Captains "Rites of Battle" rule when they roll a 1 or a 2 (due to receiving a -1 on the roll from Auspex special rule).

I don't see why not, but I just want to know for sure. My friend insisted this was not the case and claimed it to be "the roll" as in "unmodified roll" of a 1 that could be re-rolled... Lost nearly a squad of inceptorĀ“s because I didn't want to argue a good 20 minutes of my game.

Again, I feel like a fucking nagger. But GW could have avoided all this with a simple order-schedule on what happens next, one of the few good things in Warmahordes.

You wont ever need a FaQ on shit like this again.
Because, as you say, "re-rolls are done before modifiers", doesn't this make it equally silly that effects happens after modifiers? Shouldn't all bad things happen and then you apply the mods?
