Personally I think shotguns aren't worth it. Taking vets with lasguns and a platoon commander will give you more punch. Assault weapons aren't great if you're in a Chimera and 4 S3 shots per guy is better than 2S4 shots imo.

You can try kitting out you're Crusaders with Chainswords and have the heavy weapon initiate carry a power weapon then pad out the casualties with neophytes kitted with bolt pistols and CCW or shotguns. The Emperor's Champion still wrecks shit against characters in close combat, nearly killed a Chaos Terminator Lord with him in one turn of combat. Also, Assault Terminators

But White Scars are known for rapid deployment and strikes, not just as 'the bike chapter'. WAACfags pretending to be fluffy and spamming bikes with grav in 7th doesn't mean it is canon.
Blood Angels aren't just 'The jump pack dudes', they are know for favouring assault squads yes but it isn't suppose to be their main thing.
Salamanders are expert craftsmen and blacksmiths that favour the use of heat-based weapons, not flamer wielding marines that happen to be good at crafting stuff.

So has all the potential for. Ew releases actually stopped anyone from buying models? Really want to start Gaurd, but would hate to drop a bunch of money, for new/better models to drop 6 months from now.

Marines like smurfs behave like real life special forces, cutting off the head of the snake in surgical strikes and not staying in one warzone for too long.

Chaos marines like World Eaters have their transport vehicles and daemon engines that fill the gaps left by their close combat focus...

While Tyranids have even greater numbers than Orks and biomorph that engage you from every possible angle including underground.

GW has to keep them bland and digestible for the target audience since their the poster boys. Honestly, I don't like it either because the Roman Aesthetic is cool and I'd like the Ultramarines more if they embraced it more, but I doubt that's going to happen.

Lost 11-7. My contemptors got blasted by helbrutes and ahriman on some heavy damage rolls and his +1ld warlord trait saved a single aspiring sorcerer who hid, denying me points. Not sure what you mean by this but the Black Templar organization is only based on hierarchy rather than companies. The High Marshall leads the chapter, Marshalls have their personal households, which seem to be a permanent organization as long as the Marshall is alive, this Household have the Marshall's personal heraldry and banner and is only composed of Sword Brethren. After that there's the giant pool of Initiates some of which have their own Neophytes which are theirs to teach and guard.

A Crusade is made on the basis of familiarity and brotherhood rather than any imposed organizations, so a Marshall and his household are given a task and then form up the crusade from the Initiates that they may have fought with or perhaps using favors to gather more forces and its quite possible that a particularly renowned Marshall may have more Initiates at his disposal as more Marines may want to join his Household.

The moment you become a Sword Brother you are taught on how to use Terminator armor which I believe is different from Vanguards but I dont really know.

Just read their 4th ed codex if you are so curious about the BTs.

On tabletop they're the same as Vanguard Vets I'm pretty sure but with the BT special rules. They're more ingrained in their Crusader Aesthetic and lifestyle.

They don't have scout squads, new marines that would normally be scouts are called neophytes and folded into Crusader units to get in-combat tutoring from Initiates. Once a neophyte earns his black carapace he becomes an initiate instead of a Devastator. Also, the Black Templars aren't divided into companies like codex compliant chapters, they are divided into "Fighting Companies" which can range from large 100 man companies to smaller, more specialized 10 man squads. They also don't have librarians.

Literally all of this can be found on the Lexicanum, wiki, or even fucking 1d4chan if you actually bothered to read them instead of glancing at them for half a second and then fucking off to beg to be spoonfed like a fucking retard. if you don't understand at this point you are a lost cause.

The sword bretheren are an odd quirk of the organization of their chapter. Basically they act as veterans, sergeants, and ad hoc captains depending on their needs.

Templars have a heavy reliance on fleet support, often using orbital bombardment before striking, or failing that, use drop pod insertions to strike at key locations. Afterwards they use vast numbers of heavily armored infantry and lightly armored neophytes organized into ad hoc crusader squads.

Basically the templars use doctrines similar to codex chapters, but with extreme emphasis on quickly destroying their enemy. They also place an emphasis on close combat and numbers.

Templars are basically Crusaders thrown into modern 40k. They believe the Emperor is a god, love zeal and fervor, and prefer close range so much that they fucking abhor Devastator units. They're incredibly anti psyker and have no Librarians, chain their weapons to their wrists, and throw their bodies at enemies as fast and hard as they can. Definitely of hyper-knightly to the point that they even take on Neophytes/Scouts as their personal trainees and push them to even greater heights.

They're insane in the best of ways and are the very definition of loyalist berserker champions.

They travel based upon fleets and there are thousands of Templars since they don't follow the Codex.

That sucks man, I feel your pain. I've been in a similar situation in the past (not wanting to screw my coworkers by bailing).

The thing is though, you might walk in to work on a Monday morning and get laid off with literally zero notice, so you have to be proactive and take whatever steps you can to protect yourself. Even if your pitch (if you can pay me more I can start on X etc) isn't super strong you can still throw it out there. You never know whether or not you'll get a hit, and even if they're not interested in hiring you now they might keep you in mind for future openings.

How would I go about getting rid of some armies? I have some Blood Angels and Dark Angels I'd like to get rid of, and maybe some Chaos Marines too. The Chaos marines were primed black but the two loyalist marine armies aren't painted. They're all assembled and not very big. Just a couple of squads and an HQ or two.

How do I go about getting rid of these? I don't frequent a store and don't have any friends into Warhammer. I just want them gone because I have too many armies.

Everything can (theoretically) kill everything in 8th, so the point limit for bringing a knight without being a cuntbag is a lot lower. There's no more "lol I'm Toughness (whatever) so literally only two things in your entire army can even do damage to me" shenanigans.

If you bring one at 1,500 points or something it sounds imposing but you're hampered by the fact that one model is literally 1/3 of your entire army cost and is going to be an enormous target for your opponent to boot.

They generally use more subtle tactics and tend to keep at a distance only engaging in close quarters when necessary and when it's advantageous.
