Why is every white scars list I see just a bunch of grav guns and melta attack bikes? Are none of the other special/heavy weapons worth using?

I think he looks a little cluttered, it's like a Plague Drone exploded onto a Lord of Contagion. He'd look better with the details on his armour a bit more unified.and out of GW's cartoony bright colour scheme, though.

So, with how detachments work, I can dust off my two old Exterminators and field them with my SW, right?

Do they need to go into their own detachment or will the work in an existing detachment with SW models? I remember reading about some rules not working if the detachment isn't all the same, but I can't find any rules in SW or IG books that would disrupt anything if the detachment isn't 100% one or the other.

Consider Swapping out one of the Helbrutes with another Unit of Warptalons or Raptors

Set up your Termis Raptors Warp-Talons in Reserve

Cultist Blobs in front of your Dreadnought to block the enemy from your Noise Marines and Havocs in Cover

Shock down your Army-core on YOUR turn Cast Warptime on Warptalons (if you go this route) to guarantee them charging ignoring Overwatch, then charge the rest. Cast Prescience and/or Lord buff your Termis/raptors, Plasma Weapons are the better choice over Melta if youre pursuing this strat but obviously better against High-wound stuff.

Slowly march your cultists into your opponents BUSY Backline and take over the majority of the battlefield.
Continue by shooting at everything that thought falling back was smart with your Noise Marines and/or Havocs

It's an imperial fist played with some stratagem that makes heavy bolters do 1d3 mortal wounds for that shooting phase... combine with a cherub that allows him to shoot twice and it does 2d3. Hey guys, AOS fag hoping to get into 40k with my daemon army.

I heard that standard daemon infantry got their points reduced in the CSM codex, so does that apply to Chaos Daemons as well, or only daemons taken as part of a CSM force?

Had my first proper game of 8th last night. We were playing in the Konor campaign at the LGS so we played the mission which was basicall diagonal w/ attacker (my orks) vs defender (nis crons).

We played 1000 pts because I only brought 1000 pts. Waiting on magnets to make transport easier.

Big mob of Nobz

He brought

some scarabs

and an annihilation barge

I got first turn so I ran across the table. He poured all his fire into one of my big mobs of boys and sent his scarabs in as a speed bump.

2nd turn I finishd off the scarabs and continued across the table, he finished off the mob of boyz and a dredd and brought his warriors forward a bit to absord the charge and not allow me to consolidate into combat.

3rd turn I ran through the warriors, just carnage. He sent in the lychguard to assault my warboss, painboy and nobs and shot down my remaining dredd.

4th turn I had the nobs and boyz assault the lychguard and got them down to like 2 guys but he reanimated 1 of them the warboss and painboy went after his immortals but rolled like shit. He pulled his immortals out of combat and tried to shoot down the painboy and warboss. His lychguard took out a couple of boyz and finally dropped.

Game ended there.

He had VPs for the 2 dredds (2) and the mob of boyz he tooks out (1) and 1 more for keeping 1+ units in his deployment zone.

I had VPs for the scarabs (1), warriors (1) and lychguard (1).

So he won it 4-3 but I went through his list at home and I think to run a battalion he had to split his warriors into 2 units so really it would have been a tie.

Overall I had a blast. 8th ed is the best 40K I've played. Super quick, fun, bloody. I forgot you could shoot pistols in cc so that probably cost me a bit against the lychguard but I really enjoyed it.

Next week we're trying for 1500 and I think my list really comes into it's own at that size with the addition of big mobs of stormboys and kommandos as well as some more boyz and a second warboss..

You could take a lord and a sorc and get your terminators to hit on a re-rollable 2+. With double-tapping plasmas.

I don't get why plastic Cataphractii have such retarded upper shoulder plates. The fit is much better on the resin ones. The top plate slides inwards more, so it covers the arm gap and creates a layered look where the second lower shoulders jut out more.

The plastic ones just have this stacked thing going on which just looks blocky and fails to cover the arm gap. Is it just people building them wrong?

Anyway the point I was trying to make is pay attention to the shoulder plate when you finally add the arms to those guys.

The 3.5 was pretty good. It had rules for the legions, good wargear and army build options, and was fairly strong. Almost every other codex Chaos got in editions 3-7 was bland and terrible. Yeah, I tried making one here. It really bothers me, I have some nice resin Cataphractii and wanted to get some plastic ones but I see so many horror photos of the arms looking like shit on them.

This might just be me being autistic, but the way mortarion looks compared to the rest of the pictures reminds me of how they do the backs of White Dwarf (whitch next issue is coming out September 1st) so more than likely either this weekend or next weekend we will see the preorder go up with a release coming a week after

I've glued all my plastic cataphractii top plates to the torso specifically to avoid this issue. I think the cataphractii captain even has his shoulder pads attached to his torso.

Ha. So black legion are so bad they're just a tax for Abaddon? Sad. I don't particularly care about abaddon - would prefer to just make an interesting black legion list. Was trying to figure out if there was any way to actually maximize the use of their legion trait, but their legion specific rules are so schizophrenic. Kite the enemy BUT chop the imperials. Keep your warlord nearby for buffs, BUT here's a stratagem to give units the same buff.

Shame, because I love their lore and aesthetic.

World-eaters is probably the most powerful choice in the CSM Codex.

Your best bet is going Khornate DP, Lord on Juggernaut, Berzerkers as Elites, Bloodletters as Troops
That allows you also to flip the Bird-Demons the Bird with your 4+ Deny the Witch Command-thing
