Most of the time Commander precons have a couple packages. Some (typically the ones best out of the box) have one clear strategy but more often they have "a" and "b" gameplans, sometimes "c" as well.

Clearly, one of the gameplans for vamps is "Turn dudes sideways" specifically with go tall/voltron. I wouldn't be surprised if they did a lot of tokens as well; vamps are good at that and Aristocrats (a Vamp ability since Magic 20xx at least; it went on shades before that) would fit BOTH elements. Their C theme is probably lifegain of the tax/sap/drain/gain-from-loss species.

If you're worried about a 23/26 for 40 life and five mana, just say "another target vampire" so commander damage is taken out of the equation. I did the math: you have to blow up a creature with 10 toughness to break even on the trade. You can't even run doubling season or deepglow skate to make it bonkers and you'll draw all the hate in the world the second that bitch hits the field.

Like I said, I don't work for wizards, but that shit would be both fun, viable, and generally mellow enough for even the shittiest playgroup. ANY single target removal fucks its day right up, particularly after you pay your life. One mana bounce or that "creatures can't get counters" thing make it totally nonfunctional. This is EDH we're talking about here, I expect a pretty high powerlevel for most things.

Well, haste helps against sorcery speed wraths. And being a dude means he is reanimatable, raise dead able, which is surprisingly important for Mardu's recursion.

You could argue for Greaves and Fervor, but I've lately been seeing more Null Rods and Stony Silences.

Personally, artifacts and enchantments are fairly fragile in my play groups. But so is everything.

its always been like that. commander is basically a format for people who cant afford to play modern and dont want to have rotating formats like standard. the EDHrec guy once said that the vast majority of decks rarely hit the $200 mark on the command zone podcast one time and honestly it makes sense when you can buy a precon for $30-$50 and spend an extra $50 and have a really good deck. i wish people would spend more money on it though (or card prices come down) cause once you start sprinkling more expensive cards into commander decks and upping the power the game gets way more fun

Really? That's horrifying. My weakest deck routinely stomps precons after tuning it down 4 or 5 times. I'm talking Feldon intentionally gimped without mana rocks, and it usually puts up a good fight. The only way I can really see making a deck worse than a precon is using a standard only singleton thing. I thought it was casual in the sense that I don't have to deal with people playing it to make money, not casual in the sense that it's acceptable to build godawful jank.

You can play Esper ou Azorius Dragons in Modern like a Control deck.
Allies, Merfolk, Humans, Spirits and Elves play completely different even when they share things like Vial, Company and overall go wide Strategy.
