Anyway, I'm the dude from before who's wanting to build a Nightlord army out of Burning of Prospero and the suggestion was to make a Chosen squad kitted out with 2 melta and 3 plasma and have the rest be chainsword dudes,

I was also planning on having a 5-man havoc squad with four autocannons (because I like them, no other reason) and a ten man regular bolter CSM just to hold objectives and be cover-humpers, any suggestions on what to do with my last 5 mk3 marines from the box set? otherwise I'm just gunna make another marine squad of them with bolters

Also, because nightlords, anyone got a line on bat-ear helmets? because GW is out of stock :(

LF is another caster, though I honestly haven't seen many people talk about them, even on yoyhammer. Their stuff isn't bad, not Chinese, and they have some unique models. However, they can be more pricey.

Z varies, but expect a month +/- 5 days when it comes to recasters.

As for using BoP, Calth is much better for NL imho.

I kinda want to get this mentality out that having a single Riptide is "OP". It's not. They're the Tau's TEQ. It's fair if they can have one if you bring some Termies or a Land Raider. If they bring multiple and in the Wing, then yes that is pretty cheesy.

Also Kroot are shit. They're just expendable meatshields. Having a whole army oriented around them would be incredibly boring. If Tau auxiliaries had the same love that Genestealers then that would be fine.

A "fun" army to play against is something that tries to bring all the neat units into the battle in a combined arms fashion. Not just spamming any one single unit. A good Tau player would know that some well supported fire warrior unit is a cheaper and arguably better source of anti infantry fire power than the other units.

I'm so tired of hearing non Tau players complain about "muh Battlesuits or muh Riptides" They're there in the codex, they have a purpose, just like the FWs.source then any of the battle suits. Just because you get butthurt at the cheesemongers doesn't mean that the other Tau players have to stop using a particular unit. Quit bitching.

Kek'd, but A) the lightning isn't painted and B) that's not why they're supposed to be scary.

If you want the Custodes/SoS, then BoP is probably better. I have both, and I'm definitely getting more mileage out of the Calth, though I do want more SoS. The Contemptor can be used as either, really. The Hellforged contemptor weapons are pretty easy to convert, it you could just use it with the asscannon, which isn't bad. Other options for a brute needs a little more converting, but the asscannon is an easy count as reaper auto.

Think the Cataphractii termi's would look okay with the chaos terminator Autocannon or would the Tartaros one be better?

I think I'll goof around with some raptors and terminators - maybe make a lord or aspiring champion. Best thing about black legion is I have friends with full death guard, thousand sons, and world eater armies so I can borrow cult infantry to my heart's content. I forgot the Catas didn't come with an AC bit, but more importantly, you have access to combi-plasma. The fact that my Cataphractii didn't have an AC option didn't even occur to me. As for the normal CSM reaper, you'd probably have to do some slicing because cataphractii have very unique shoulders.

As for the sorcerer, the NL upgrade kit comes with a sword, which is what I use for mine. Note that this was a test picture, not the final choice. I just wanted to show the sword.

I'd like to see Inquisition Ordos fleshed out, or Forge Worlds.

Inquisition would be neat, as each Ordo would have its own radically (sometimes VERY Radical) stratagems and relics. Ordo Xenos might have strange weapons from the Dark Age to help fight against the alien menace, or even sanction some alien devices for use against them. Ordo Malleus would have a number of protections and offensive weapons or abilities to fight against Daemons, many of the esoteric and probably very powerful, though they might also, in dire situations, use the power of Chaos against itself. Considering all of the Chapter Tactics and Legion Tactics are mostly fairly simple bonuses I wouldn't be surprised if they do give Septs and such their own special rules.

X is good at siege warfare, copy and paste Imperial fist bonus, X is known for lightning strike tactics, some bonus to advance, etc.

No it means I don't really have to give a shit where I put my land raider as it can fire all its weapons 360 degrees from the tip of its treads , or its rear , or one of its turrets. It literally makes no difference.

Exacerbating this further vehicle facings don't matter at all. Not only is my predator as tough in the rear as the front but it can fire it's turret and sponsors out its rear if it wishes. Meaning again positioning doesn't matter.

Further still I can pick whatever model I want in a unit to die so positioning my units effectively in a squad or outflanking my opponent to pick off their special models is useless.

Likewise beyond cutting the wings off a bloodthirster or equivalent model there's very little you can do now to stop a unit being able to draw LOS to it and you don't even get a cover save if it's 50% obscured.. All those cool conversions? A complete detriment now.

Honestly this is the worst part of 8th for me. I feel like I may as well be playing the game on a hex grid with tokens as where I actually put my units is almost entirely meaningless.

I feel removing rules that most people understand to prevent issues with some problem player misses the point as problem players are always going to be an issue regardless of a rules set so punishing the majority of reasonable players for their actions seems ass backwards.

Chaos and Grey Knights this Saturday. Then it's almost certainly Death Guard within the next month. Imperial Guard or Adeptus Mechanicus have been name dropped in an article, so they're most likely coming after all the Chaos stuff.

Eldar are likely to get a codex this year, but not soon. No idea how they perform at the moment.

The Sisters of Battle's faith rules are now cool and good, and they can bring along all sorts of Ministorum weirdos, but they're almost certainly never going to get their own codex and are hellishly expensive in terms of real world money.

Space Wolves used to be cool but are now WOLF WOLF WOLF WOLF.

Adeptus Mechancus are cool and good as well, currently very strong if you bring along Belesarius Cawl. Their only glaring weakness is a lack of transports.

RGG exiles himself and it seems like all Guardfags disappear. Meanwhile a half dozen new chaoscucks take their place. Really oodles my noodles.
