You got me guys - khorne daemons seem to be a reasonable choice.
What about mixing them with mortals? I'm thinking about swaping one SC box for a khorne half of starter set. It would be cheaper and I will gain a bloodsecrator and three universal khorne battlelines

>rule of 1 came from ripperdactls you ignorant buffoon
Um no sweetie it was because of any ability that generates attacks on a 6+ and a significant amount of +hit to get infinite attacks

Also stacking mystic shield and other save buffs to get to an automatic pass on saves
>>
>>54722644
rippers get extra attacks on successful hits, none of this "6+" bullshit

they were regularly killing archaon and other giant godlike centerpieces with a single attack
>>
>>54722644
where are you getting all these +hits for warherds?
>>
>>54722692
>rippers get extra attacks on successful hits, none of this "6+" bullshit
But they still have a chance to miss, which means they are infinite damage. They did a lot of damage but it was not infinite.

Infinite damage is getting +5 to hit and generating attacks on hit rolls of 1+

>>54722715
I never said it was warherds?
>>
>>54722939
and what is giving +5 to hit?
>>
>>54723069
you really cant figure it out on your own?

Find a +1 hit buff

Now bring 5 of it because its open play so why the heck not
>>
>>54723069
nigger are you retarded? Cast a +1 to hit spell or buff, repeat 5 times with your models you took to do this. Obviously this would be a problem so they limited it.

I'm fairly new to AoS, and starting to assemble a unit of Stormfiends, but apart from the ratling, i am quite unsure about the other weapon choices. Are there any option really better than another ?

I also plan to buy 2 more boxes to field some specialist units, is that a viable option for them or would you rather keep diverse units ?

I'm expanding my Ironjawz to 2k points, how does this look?

Allegiance: Destruction
Heroes
Megaboss on Maw-Krusha (520)
- General
- Command Trait : Ravager

Orruk Megaboss (140)
- Artefact : Battle Brew
Orruk Warchanter (80)
Orruk Weirdnob Shaman (120)

10 x Orruk Ardboys (180)
20 x Orruk Brutes (720)
3 x Orruk Gore Gruntas (180)
Battalions
Ironfist (60)
Total: 2000/ 2000

I know Gruntas suck but i like the models and i find them mildly useful in taking distant objectives or going artillery hunting. The list is all about buffing the big mob of Brutes with the Warchanter, Weirdnob and Megaboss, the boss also tears stuff up decently and the Maw-Krusha is my secondary big scary unit

I like it. I don't think I've ever had the pleasure of seeing someone paint up the FW dragons
>>
>>54731158
I could be wrong but I believe ward saves were treated like an armor save and didnt do anything against multiple wounds. So if you get hit by a weapon with 3 damage you would still only make 1 ward save.

Ignoring wounds happens as damage is being allocated to the unit, which means you roll for 3 times for a Damage 3 weapon.

My gf bought me a gorechosen box as a birthday present - she's not good at hiding things so I know nothing about this for next three weeks. I still don't have a proper army so I thought that it might be a good way to start a bloodbound army.
Will Gorechosen, a Start Collecting box and Start Set work as a good core of the army? Plenty of heroes, a lot of models to paint and at least I'm sure that GW will not drop the chaos posterboys in the immediate future.

I remember khorne mortals as slow fuckers that rarely manage to live long enough to catch me into melee in demo games. Did Blades of Khorne battletome changed this? I like their aesthetic but don't want to end up with an unplayable army. I'm not a waacfag - I don't have to win all games but also don't want to spend my money and time on army that is as useful as Nids in 7e
>>
>>54731236
>Still two extra saves ;)

I call those "wound ignoring ability", to avoid confusion.
>>
>>54731406
The battletome didn't really change their survivability, but at least you get something out of losing your heroes with blood tithe. But with khorne it's about having lots of heroes and redundant heroes anyway. As a khorne player you should always try to max out your hero slots at least with cheapos
>>
>>54731455
If it's for death, we just call them death saves. If I'm playing a 40k player, I just call them feel no pain
>>
>>54731464
With my pruchase plan I will have 8 heroes in total - 3 from starter set, 1 from SC and 4 from gorechosen. It should be enough for a beginner, right?
>>
>>54731480
Now we just have to wait for the battletome. Hopefully we get GHB2 by Christmas 2020
>>
>>54731545
The GHB2 will drop in 2 weeks Anon
>>
>>54731520
Yeah it should be plenty. In a 2k point game, you can have up to 6 heroes. It's good to have options
>>
>>54731464
That's one of the things that's maybe attracting me to do a khorne army, they encourage lots of heroes. I'm all about herohammer.

Are any other armies encouraging using lots of cheap heroes?
>>
Played a 500 point kill the beast this weekend and the Kharadron player killed it in one turn.
>>
>>54732046
What, did he gun it down? Maybe it would be better to play a different Battleplan.

I know there is a Skirmish one about sacrificing an enemy model. 3 2+ in a row and game ends so some battleplans may not be as suited vs other armies as other.
>>
>>54732046
Some battleplans favor some types of armies. Most objective centric battleplans aren't ideal for KO because they require you to get close and get on objectives where if your opponent is melee focused, they will have an advantage in getting into combat with you.

>>
>>54733337
Dang, sorry to hear that. Surprised you guys didn't just run at him full speed.
>>
>>54733418
One guy ran a shooting bastilodon and the other ran chaos knights. Due to vendetta felt by the chaos player, he fucked over the seraphon near the end. 3 of his knights died before he ever got to attack.

The overlord guy ran a frigate with some op port, khemist, and a little dude unit with 3 skyhooks.
>>
>>54733545
So bassically the Kharadron was shooting two bunches of fish in a barrel. Ouch. That Chaos guy must have really had it out for the Seraphon if he was willing to charge through a third parties gunfire to kill him. Any fun stories behind this vendetta?
>>
>>54733572
Well, the seraphon guy generally builds good lists with synergy while the chaos guy started out using random skaven and started to add khorne chaos units in. I think in all the games they have played against each other chaos won once.

I'm talking using chaos knights with a hellpit abomination, gutter runners, slambo, and rat ogres. He's all over the place. One time he ran like, over 8 heros for the fuck of it.

The seraphon guy has a balewind vortex, slann, kroak, eternity warden, engine of the gods, etc. All really synergy heavy units.

We are all coworkers and got into aos at the same time. I got them into aos, but they went full force and have 3k+ points to my 700 built points.

I run nurgle mortals and am genuinly afraid of the point the skaven player realizes he needs to go skyre and start dishing out mortal wounds at range like seraphon can.
>>
>>54733765
Wow, that's pretty nuts. Fair play to the three of you though, its great to get into any game system, let alone Warhammer together. Really adds a lot.

Poor Chaos though. Sounds like its some kind of pseudo arms race but the Seraphon sounds like he has the better idea. The Chaos guy sounds more anarchic and just keeps adding brute force. Seraphon is an all-comers list builder which is probably the soundest method of army building you can get.

At least your Nurgle mortals got their Blight Kings to make it brutally hard to actually hit them. Worst case you can get Papa Nurgle on the field to tank some hits. 10 Wounds, healing each turn and 5+ ignoring wounds.

Good luck with them Nurgles, we need more like you. I'm starting back into AoS myself after years. The rules seem much easier compared to last few editions which is a huge plus for me.
>>
>>54733848
Right now I have a lord of plagues, harbinger, festus to be used as a rot sorc or chaos sorc, and 2 units of kings.

I have 3 more kings and 2 maggoth in the mail. I originally had a SC daemons but shyed away from that since seraphob does more damage to daemons.

Alright teegee, the local Order player keeps bringing Alarielle to our "casual" games and stomping shit. Typically I'd just not play him, but he's a smug little shit so I wanna beat him.

So question is, short of stooping to his level and just bringing Bone Daddy, how do I beat him with Death?

Models like the beetlebitch, archaon, nagash, etc, aren't really designed to have a hard counter. Beating them typically requires using multiple synergistic units, or just bringing your own Uber,

Seriously though, just bring Nagash. If he's stupid enough to get her in with him the resulting fight will be hilariously short. If he bitches about it, then he shows how petty he is.

Wasnt sure if to ask here or in the other Warhammer general but is there a place in the Realm of Chaos where both mortals and deamons fight it out? Like, damned souls of humans, bloodletters and champions?

Also does it still have the "everchanging" landscape where it can range from a blasted wasteland to inhumanly strange architecture?
>>
>>54740602

I'm sure another anon will correct me if I am incorrect, but the current status is "we don't know, but each realm is very large so surely something like what you are looking for exists"

pic related is what we were shown and we do know it isn't the whole realm either. We don't know anything about any of the named locations on this map, but the blurb of text does mention "the landmarks dance upon the page never coming to rest upon the same place" suggesting that yes, the landscape does change
>>
>>54742005
It's probably similiar to pic related but on a much larger scale.
The further you go in one directino the more the land takes the shape of who ever is in power there. The Center is pure chaos, everchanging plains, trees shaped like humans growing tall and withering away in seconds thereafter, hurricanes coming and going, earthquakes all that shit.
The points where the domains of two gods collide emcorporating elements of both of their powers. Like walking corpse trees filled with laughing maggots that ask each other riddles as the branches twist and turn, growing fruit that rots away, drops to the ground creating little giggling demons that run around aimlessly until they burst into flames.
>>
>>54740808
There are some more details on specific places like the Brass Citadel, like how losers have to pass through torturous terrain in a weakened form and announce who defeated them through the demon gatekeeper backdoor. Or new places like the varanspire(archaons turf) and blightcity(skaven city half sunken into reality) but besides that very little less.

Theres some bits about slann stealing part of the crystal labyrinth and I guess the new novel might have more details on nurgles garden?

Thanks for the info. Reason I ask is I am trying to think up fluff for my Slaves to Darkness Lord.

Essentially I was thinking of a place in the Realm of Chaos which was more of less resembling the look and feel of Dark Souls 3. Just replace the main char with a Chaos lord and the enemy monsters and bosses with damned or lost mortal souls, daemons, greater daemons, monsters or other champions of chaos looking to prove themsleves.

Naturally because it keeps changing I was wondering if this technically fell under "good" fluff without deriving extremely with what is known or feeling forced.

WLC's are great for picking off heroes and putting the pain on elite units. They're a bit lacklustre vs hordes so unless you're only playing against elite armies 2 is all you'd need.

If you're wanting to take a VL: Warbringer then you'll want something better than Clanrats for his command ability. Stormvermin would be pretty scary with that.

Rat Ogors and Poisoned Wind Mortars aren't that great but Ripsnikks is a pretty nice battalion and Rat Ogors getting to pile in and attack twice is nice but I don't think it's better than Verminus Clawpack Stormvermin getting buffed to the nines and destroying anything they touch.

Hey dude, honestly, you need a banner. The vermin lord is nice but I haven't had him really pull through for me. The deceiver is great for assassination though.

Here are changes I would consider.

Run a verminus battalion instead, it allows for two warlords to use their command abilities. If you pair this with a crown, your 3 units clan rats are immune to battleshock, and have an extra attack each. As your general, you could field a vermin lord here. I like thretch craven tail. He's hard to catch, inexpensive and resilient. You can even use his command ability to make your 3 attack storm vermin (required for the battalion) rend 2 and 6s do double damage. It can also be used on a vermin lord warbringer. The banner also allows you to reroll hit rolls of one.

I'd drop the rat ogres and pack master Keep your weapon teams as they are and use the battalion to keep them around. Lightning cannons are solid, and I like the warlock engineer, maybe get the archwarlock since he doesn't need to overload, does more dmg per spell, and has a once per game d3 mortal wounds on top.

They did the same thing to Warhammer fantasy for years and then wondered why it died. Hopefully new management learned from that lesson. Then we got Skirmish and Path to Glory. I'm amazed they released ANYTHING given how hard they are pushing 40k 8th.

Soon we'll have GHB2 which comes with massive changes to the existing meta, and essentially 20 new battetomes worth of abilities.

Then we'll see a Nurgle release

Then Shadespire and most likely Deathrattle release

You may need to go an army of combined arms anon. With that I mean you use Forest Goblins as well as Moonclan Grots with Troggoths and regular Gobbos in terms of warmachines and maybe war chariots.

Yo 4chan, looking for advice.
Im thinking about selling my Bretonnia army since none in my local area plays aos anymore. What du you think is a fair price for em?

Everything I have is painted to this standard (lords better, peasants slightly worse)

I have 16 Knights, 10 grailknight, 6 pegasus each one is painted uniquely with quartered tabards and everything is based, highlighted and transfercheated (alot of it is based on fluff)

I have every character in The Bretonnia army, 64 peasants, Trebuchet, Yeomen, you name it

it all adds up to roughly 4,2k points, everything is 100% complete and based.
>>
>>54748831
you can probably sell the knights and grailknights for silly amounts of money because they are still quite popular on eBay
>>
>>54748831
Can't say prices sadly but if you are tempted, you could just for fun and nostalgia purposes (as in keep some of the el fellas you've had for a while) dismount the Knights and make a small Blood bowl team.
>>
>>54748831
You could see them go for between 300-600 dollarydoos when all is said and done, eBay tends to be pretty weird with opp minis. I've seen brettonia armies go for pennies per model, and others go for over 700, all depends on the climate.
I'd say wait for ghb2 and see where they sit to sell them

Should i get another start collecting instead of the box of vulkite berzekers? It would cost me 12€ more but i'd get the big lizard guy and three more Buffdorfs. Would i ever field it anyway?

Also I'd like to divide this list in two or more purchases for economic reasons and to get familiar with the game.

Hyped as fuck but they could pick a better art on the box imo
>>
>>54750488
I wish they would just remove them from GHB2.0 and put an end to that kind of exploitation. Or at least remove their points from matched play. Or just nerf the hell out of them so no one in their right mind would be interested in buying them.
>>
>>54751387
Its one thing anon if GW were charging those prices but its entirely up to the buyer in how they depart with their money. If they want to invest stupid amounts of money for it, so be it. Its not GW's responsibility.
>>
>>54751500
It sort of is, though. I get some of the concerns they have with it. Why we never see tomb kings or bretonians ever featured in any photos or articles. They act like they dont exist.

This is because they dont want new players falling in love with these armies to find that the only way to get into them is to spend exorbitant amounts of money on them entirely from 3rd parties, and get turned off the whole experience.

Removing brets and tomb kings entirely in points would go a long way with eliminating that. So when people ask "what are tomb kings?" you can literally say "nothing" and when finding out they are illegal for matched play, then it gets rid of a lot of potential heartache for new players.

Old players with those 2 armies would just have to deal.
>>
>>54753149
How are they illegal for match play? Just curious.
>>
>>54753149
I kind of get your logic anon. But the fact they are so underpresented, someone would have to go out of their way to find them. Really though, fall in love with the army? I mean sure, there are passionate people out there but let's be sensible here. 99% of people are going to see the prices on ebay and think "Woah that's way too much, let me find another army".

If they are that stupid to spend 3 digits worth of cash on units, that is up to them. It's not even Games Workshop selling at the prices. Its their own fault for either

1. Not doing more research for better deals
or
2. Having 0 priority in regards to financial management.
>>
>>54753224
They're not. My point is it wouldn't be a bad thing for GW to make them illegal by not giving them new points, rather than dragging them along starving for the existing poor sods who have those armies, and be a potential trap for new players.
>>
>>54731406
It's how I started out, I don't always use all of it but I find chaos warriors to be a nice asset to your army, as meatshield for your heroes as well as just pretty ok meelee. Recently used them to take down a carnosaur in one turn, which was immediately the turning point of the game. The starter box also has the bloodsecrator, which kicks fucking ass by giving all MORTAL KHORNE and extra meelee attack.
>>
>>54753508

Hey guys, thinking about getting into AoS, but I'm hoping there's less models to paint and gameplay is as fun or more fun than Warmachine.

Do as many or a reasonable number of people play the Skirmish side of things?

If no, how many points is the typical tournament army size?
>>
>>54755232
Average tournament size is 2k but 1k battles tend to also be common just for PUGS.

Skirmish it really depends but I'd say if there are AoS players around your LGS and you tell them you're looking for Skirmish games, I'm sure they'd be happy to play.

Just need AoS players to begin with.
>>
If the Aelfs are composed of Elf souls Slaanesh ate & Slaanesh gobbled every Elf soul that ever existed at the end of End Times, does this mean that the older Elven gods & heroes like Aenerion are Aelfs now?
>>
>>54755263
In Skirmish do your heroes rank up/gain experience and/or do you accumulate gold (or some kind of currency?)
>>
>>54755299
Skirmish really only gets "exp" if there is a campaign. Otherwise they are once off normally. Fortunately though it only requires you to get at most a dozen or so miniatures, if even.
>>
>>54755309
>>54755263
Somebody said there's no balance in AoS is this true? ie you can bring any army size
>>
>>54755387
To say there is no balance is just spouting memes from two years ago.

It's a GW game so there is some bias towards the posterboys and usually the most up to date army. Army sizes depend entirely on how many points you are playing at, which army, and how much of a dick you/your opponent wishes to be. For example, a typical Beastclaw Raiders army seldom uses more than twelve models if they are staying firmly in their sub-faction. A grots army can easily break over a hundred + if the player decides to focus infantry.
>>
>>54755387
Before there wasn't as it was essentially a case of bringing everything you want. But later AoS introduced matched play with points and restrictions. So in that regard there is balance. But like most games there is a few OP combos.
>>
>>54755387
There's Open Play, which is do whatever you want (preposterously unbalanced way to play, but good for kids to get into the game I guess?).
There's Special Rules like Skirmish or Path of Glory where you do a specific thing. They seem like fun ways to ease into the hobby with smaller units and neat campaigns
.
Then there's Matched Play, aka the way everyone actually plays that I've ever seen in my life, which is like Open Play, except things have points so you can have games that are remotely even. Typically 1k, 2k, and sometimes 1.5k or 2.5k.
>>
Why do I see people say 3 harbinger x archaon is OP when you can't use the harbingers ability unless they are your commander?
>>
>>54755863
>>54755560
>>54755543
Bottom line, is this game ultimately worth getting into? Is it as fun or more than other similar table tops? I know it's a subjective question/answer but give me your particular points of view if you would.

Essentially what I want is to play a game that has a large and growing player base that isn't likely to fall off the map any time soon.
>>
is the GW website down for everyone right now?
>>
>>54756354

>>
>>54756415

Nothing from GW is "falling off the map" anytime soon. GW is king
>>
>>54756415
>Essentially what I want is to play a game that has a large and growing player base
Age of Sigmar was the 4th best selling miniatures wargame in the US in 2016. It isn't going anywhere.

X-Wing was #1, 40k #2, Warmachine #3
>>
>>54756702
>>54756651
I think I will get into it slowly but surely. Can I start a Skirmish party and then grow it into a regular army?

I've got a lot of old Skaven models that are painted quite well. Are they ok to use? Do they need to have round bases? Are conversions ok in AoS?
>>
>>54756855

No
Yes, They've actaully shown quite a few off though official channels
>>
>>54756415
I dove into this game all of two weeks ago. Played my first match with a mate the other day with my partially assembled, chaos black primed army. 2k points, 2 hours. fun was had by all.
The game is very swingy and very deadly. Much about heroes and wizards casting spells and bellowing commands, layering buffs on massive regiments or running across the table. ranged units are strong. Objectives and battleplans and events and terrain feature prominently.

Pros:
army lore is great, fluff is great, a dash less severe than 40k
painting and customization hobby part is fun
new army models are amazing
rules are simple, games are quicker
much more replayability and variance in types of games/play than I was expecting
list building is fun
when you get a double turn

Cons:
when your opponent gets a double turn
rules are simple, but poorly worded and fiddly in places, leaning heavily on FAQs and "the spirit of the game" to bandaid oversights
old/forgotten armies have hideous models, are weak on the tabletop (with 1% being famous exceptions)
old army models are made of unmanageable resin, or worse, finecast (aka the devil's smegma)
the rules just can't support quality high-level competition like chess or mtg, though they have tourneys that I'd consider unreasonably casual by mtg standards. It's more 'lets all have fun' than 'draw into top8 for some pro points'
Depending on where you live, That Guy ratio is uncomfortably high

If you want a fun hobby with a huge variety of casual tabletop game types and missions, dive in.
If you are coming from chess or mtg and want to compete and be tactically challenged, avoid at all costs.
>>
>>54756415
The whole "Age of Sigmar is already dying/dead" stuff is a meme.

Honestly, I enjoy Age of Sigmar more than I did Fantasy Battles. A lot of my models that were considered a complete waste of money for that game are now viable and even something to be reckoned with in this.

Honestly, if you can stand it, go into a GW and ask to do a demo game to grasp the basics. If you have friends already in the game ask to borrow the supplements like the Skirmish rules or General's Handbook (once the new one is out) so you can read them and craft a list of what you want. Look up battlereports of the army that interests you most to see common tactics and how they work. Then get models and hobby them into shape.
>>
>>54757227
Thank you for the great amount of detail you put into your post - it's much appreciated. I'm a fairly competitive gamer though as long there's some semblance that in the form of a tournament I think I could forgo my usual tendencies.

Is there hope that one day the game could be balanced or rules worded correctly enough to create a competitive environment? Down the road I mean. Obviously, no one knows the future but based on what you've seen of the game...
>>
>>54757362

Fuck ya. I'm already balls deep. Pulled out my old Skaven models
>>
Does anyone know where I can acquire the rules of the game? The website seems to be down.
>>
>>54757589
Get the Age of Sigmar app. It has the rules and all warscrolls in it for free. You can also get the supplements like battletomes and the General's Handbook through it for a bit cheaper than a physical copy.

I've only really got Clan Rats haha... Hopefully they're decent, I have about 60 painted.
>>
>>54758274
That's 360 points of battleline. but being Clan rats and 60 points per each 10, they're about as good as you'd expect them to be. The upside is that, since verminus has no special command traits or whatnot, you can freely put in anything chaos with no penalty
>>
>>54758333
Like Chaos warriors? For reals?
>>
>>54758353
You can freely mix and mach (Almost) anything that was in the Warriors of chaos, Skaven, Daemons of chaos, beastmen, and Chaos dwarfs books back in WHFB.
>>

Yes, as long as it shares the CHAOS keyword.
>>

>>54758390
Can I use my clan rates as night runners? They're painted black robes. The models for night runners are terrible otherwise, plus I already have these
>>
>>54758424
You have to ask your opponent about that. But personally I would probably allow it. Also show us you skaven for us man-things
>>
>>54758424
You might not wanna do that since, until the new General's handbook drops, Night runners are 100 points for ten and are only battleline if you ONLY use eshin units

Do you have any forge world stuff by the by?

Does it make a difference if they're gutter runners? I just want to know that I have options.

Also is there some kind of *netdeck* Skaven army that I can go by that seems to work ok? I don't want to buy a bunch of models and find out the comp is shit, haha.
>>
>>54758578
Forge world. It's the... Company? Part of GW? that makes bigger more impressive models. Or at least they did in the past, now they exclusively make 30K space marines fighting space marines. I ask cause a good deal of the stuff that USED to be chaos and was forge world got shifted to destruction
>>
>>54758578
Night runners can't take shields and have a ranged weapon, but that's about the only issue I could see. You're still probably better off running them as two blocks of 30 Clanrats though

What's the best way to go about building a DragonOgre army? Who do they associate with lorewise?
>>
>>54760172
Broadly with Chaos. And their biggest friends/masters used to be Shaggoths. They are one of the first races that pledged themselves to Chaos, even before the coming of the old ones. Lightning and destruction is a big part of their theme.

Themewise, I'd say they'd go well with Beasts of Chaos or Slaves of Darkness. Fimir might also make sense if you want to go more the monstrosity route.

A new massive Shaggoth made by Forge World would be pretty cool by the way. The original model is good, but never quite conveyed the immense scale and power of the Shaggoth.
>>
>>54760258
Fimir can't be in the same army as Dragon ogres. UNLESS you do what I'm gonna do and have a group of six as "Counts as mournfangs" that managed to worm their way out of chaos' grips
>>
Can anyone give me a brief how these armies 'feel' on board? What is their playstyle? Was playing 8th edition, want to get into AoS.

Vampires
Seraphon
These weird steampunk dwarfs
>>
>>54760332
I always thought that Fimir were chaos. Guess that changed when FW launched them.
>>
>>54760258
Lightning you say?
I smell an interesting stormcast army coming along.

Like...a shaggoth is making its way atop a huge mountain as the sky is clouding up, he extends his arms and down strikes a thunderbolt. And a confused shaggoth suddenly finds himself cradling an equally confused stormcast eternal.

Though more seriously, these certain dragonogres might have forsaken the chaos gods and started following the stormcasts as they literally come down with thunder and lightning. They follow them into battle and might get rewarded by sigmar with some sick lightning charges every now and then.
>>
with the new allies rules would it be worth switching from the CHAOS allegiance to the BLOODBOUND allegiance? I don't really feel like buying the khorne book just because I included two bloodbound units in my Slaves to Darkness army.
>>
>>54760495
They were chaos in WHFB, but something changed when the old world exploded.
>>54760500
Run 'em as counts-as dracoths or demigryphs.
>>
>>54760565
Just been reading their scrolls.
They would perfectly fit either Desolators or Concussors.
>>
how do I not fall for the slow melee army meme while also having fun building and painting models, not to mention retaining that fantasy feeling?
>>
>>54760582
I'm gonna stick with mornfangs myself, I just wish the shaggoth was bigger so I could use 'em as a huskard/frostlord on thunderstusk
>>
>>54760500
Non-Chaos Dragon Ogres might be bit weird though. They were one of the first races that pledged themselves fully to chaos. All their power and longevity was a result of them siding with chaos. It's a bit like order-aligned Beastmen or Skaven. Being Chaos is sort of the essence of their being.

However, we haven't got any lore of them for AoS so YMMV
>>
>>54760626
We do have a short tidbit. It's that they're miffed that the gods still have their souls since they consider the bargain fulfilled
>>
>>54760633
All the more reason.

Let's see...45 € per box...2 Desolators, 2 Concussors, 2 Fulminators one or two stormcast shield sets...another dragon ogre box to make one Lord-Celestant, having two ogres in reserve...

About 200 € for a 1.000 points army with 7 models.

For a one-shot army that might be neat.
>>
>>54760602
if you want to play melee go play 40k I hear charging on turn 1 is the meta right now

sigmar is a shooting based game
>>
>>54760711
Even though shooting is powerful, melee is still king. Remember, shooting only happens during your own turn. Melee happens during every player's turn. More gets done with melee pile-ins and wound allocation.

>Vampires

Do you mean Death in general, or just Vampires (who are now called Soulblight)

I'll tell you about death in general, and generally the playstyle is to drown your enemies in crappy warriors buffed with some heroes. Mainly Deathrattle, wich is pretty effective this way.
Big units of skellies, with at least 30, with a Wigh King to empower them and some cavalry for fast attack and support

In board they feel quite slow, but you can possibly munch wathever you charge just by the weigh of your numbers

I personally enjoy it
