Ep. 107 Edition

How will Keyleth fuck up this time?
>>
From Marisha's (Keyleth) AMA on Plebbit:

>Hmm. Yeah, ya know, it took some time and acceptance. It also took a few moments of realization both on my part, and some of the audience members. After the episode with the Kerrek intervention (and on a few other occasions), I got flooded with a decent amount of letters from people saying that they realized their hatred towards Keyleth, her insecurities and self doubts and innate ability to put her foot in her mouth... their hatred stemmed from familiarity. The qualities they despised the most were the same qualities they despised in themselves. "Keyleth is my dark mirror" many have similarly said. And, truthfully, while the negativity doesn't fully go away, it does seem to have subsided.

>Those who don't feel that way, and still hate her? Well, I dunno. I've heard a million theories from my cast mates, coworkers, friends, fellow fans, and I'm sure many of them are true for many people. Some people want to see a bunch of flawless heroes kicking ass, and they cant comprehend why I'd want to play someone who doesn't believe they're a hero. Some despise the way I play her, or think I'm doing Druids, and therefore the game, a disservice. And, I think some are just looking for something, ANYTHING, to be angry at, and anger promotes more anger. Mostly, I try to ignore it. Regardless, It's taken time to come to the understanding that the problem is not with me, and is honestly something I still struggle with from time to time. I get hate mail in my inbox after almost every game. (There are a lot of word filters on my incoming email these days). And, after most games, I tend to get tweets that say, "Oh Marisha, just ignore the haters! There was nothing wrong with what you did tonight!", and almost always my response is, "Wait... what did I do? Not sure what they're referring to this time..."
>>
>>54685421
Clueless as per usual. "I do nothing wrong so it must be everyone else's desire to be angry!" Please.
>>
>>54685421
>"Wait... what did I do? Not sure what they're referring to this time..."
Perhaps the problem is her ENTIRE LACK OF SELF AWARENESS?
>>
My only problem is that she is suppose to be like one of the most wise mortals in the world (22 wis I think ) yet she doesn't think or act wisely which bothers me
>>
LETS HAVE A RECAP OF /TG/S RECCOMENDED BATTLE STRATEGY AGAINST VECNA PART 1/3!!!

Well, the best ways they can beat up Vecna is by going into the fight with as many non-Concentration buffs on the party as they can:

> Freedom of Movement on the martial DPS and support, at the very least Vax, Vex, and Scanlan.
> Heroes Feast the night before, probably in Scanlan's mansion.
> Focus fire one target at a time, don't split up the damage sources.
> If you can temporarily enchant Percy's guns so they can affect Vecna, do it.
> Protect Scanalan, he's the only one who can Counterspell Vecna's big spells and the save or suck stuff.
> Keep Pike alive to provide healing and potentially burn Vecna's own Counterspells.

The most important thing is this:

> Keyleth has to become another support character during the fight, and look to use her staff charges during the fight when the opportunity is available.

This means stuff like Lesser or Greater Restoration when people get paralyzed or mind controlled, Healing Word should be read nearly every round to top people up or get them moving again if they go down via damage and not by something like Power Word Kill, Finger of Death, or Disintegrate.

But this means Marisha would have to actually play her character to its fullest potential, and she just doesn't know how to do that.
The Death Knight will probably try to Banishment Grog once again like in the last fight, and then look to bop the support/squishies.
>>
>>54685556
PART 2/3!!!
For the moment, let's assume everyone in the party is level 18 when they go into the fight against Vecna just to keep the options simple (I know they won't be; some will be level 20, others will be 19, and I think Pike will be the only level 18 in the fight).

Level 18 Moon Druid:
24 Prepared spells.

Level 18 War Cleric:
23 Prepared spells, 10 Domain spells.

Level 18 Lore Bard:
24 known spells

Level 13 Assassin Rouge/5 Vengeance Paladin:
Four 1st level, Two 2nd level slots.

Level 14 Ranger/4 Assassin Rogue:
8 spells known, Four 1st level, Three 2nd and 3rd level, One 4th level spell slots

Level 15 Berserker Barbarian/Battlemaster Fighter 3:
3 maneuvers, lots of Rage

Level 18 Gunslinger Fighter:
Lots of trickshot uses and two Action Surges, along with Hex

Pre-battle buffs:

Heroes Feast the night before. Between the Cleric and the Druid, they blow their 4th level slots and a 5th level slot from the Druid on Freedom of Movement on the party.

Bard looks to use a mix of Bardic Inspiration and Cutting Words along with his higher level spell slots on Counterspelling the large stuff from Vecna (Finger of Death, Power Word Kill, Disintegrate, etc.), uses the lower level stuff to keep everyone topped up via Healing Word.

Cleric uses her spells on Cure Wounds, Mass Cure Wounds, Heal, etc., while helping to beat up Delilah if she's on the ground. Otherwise Cleric stays in back and is on defensive to protect Bard and Druid.

Druid looks to provide more healing or use some save or suck spells, or the spells in the staff, to try and burn through Legendary Resists.

Grog, Percy, and the Twins blow up Delilah, looking to take her out quickly before she can overwhelm the combined focus firing that the Bard will draw upon himself. After that, you kill or disable the Death Knight, ideally by removing his weapon and then subjecting him to Hold Person or Banishment.

After that, you blow EVERYTHING on Vecna, overwhelm him with action economy.
>>
>>54685568
PART 3/3!!!!!

My guess is that Vecna and Delilah will look to take out Scanlan first, being the only arcane caster in the group who can potentially thwart their arcane spells. The Death Knight will probably try to Banishment Grog once again like in the last fight, and then look to bop the support/squishies.

My guess is Delilah will shift her focus off Scanlan and go for Pike and Keyleth once she sees the amount of protection they're giving him and look to use save or suck spells on them, or do something like Finger of Death, Power Word Kill, or Disintegrate on them. Meanwhile, Vecna's hovering in the air, teleporting around and firing off Cone of Cold with Legendary Actions, and using his turn to fire off his own large spells like Power Word Kill, Finger of Death, Disintegrate, and trying to Dispel the buffs on the party (a thing not normally allowed, but Matt's done it before against the party).

It's probably only when things start turning south on Vecna that he's going to start tapping into his divine powers and look to auto-succeed on some of his spells, or recharge the higher level spell slots burned earlier in the fight. At that point it's going to be a race to see if action economy and some lucky rolls let VM over-ride the lich god.

My personal hope is that he goes to leave the fight via Gate, thinking that at least him attaining godhood is enough and that leaving the Mortal Plane means the other gods can't deal with him, only for a weak and barely alive Scanlan to blow his 9th level Counterspell - a thing he'd been saving the entire fight - with something to the effect of him mooning the lich god and farting so loud it disrupts his Gate spell.
>>
>>54685583
PART 4/3 WHICH IS JUST BULLSHIT NOT!-STRATEGY BUT MORE THEORY!!!
Its doable against a ~lvl30 wiz and his 2 (but probably more) buffed up companions but if Matt even tries to win the fight its all over.
Vecna has a modified "Hold monster/person" called "Hold Creature" that works on any creature alive or unliving.
His spells are DC 25 at a minimum.
He should have 3 spellslots for every level, or at least 2 for 9th lvl because he is ~10lvls above a regular wizard.
He should have the "wish" spell which gives him infinite resources to fuel things like 'clone' 'create dead' 'symbol' 'glyph of warding' etc. So he can just have spent the last 2 days booby trapping the place into hell and having glyphs rigged to summon like 8+ CR5 Balguras.
If Matt really wants to kill them just place glyphs everywhere with the "Hypnotic Pattern" , "Bestow Curse" and "Hold Person" then even Delilah and the Death Knight can take VM on and win.

I can only assume that Matt is going to pull his punch with preparation because if he didn't it would just be game over.
_________________________________________
Personally I think they're going to get an airlift into the base of Vecna and do a sort of magical HALO drop into the throne room of Vecna.

You can make the siege/approach on the ground terrible, but even Vecna can't do glyphs and trap wards in the air without making his own floating terrain, which he can do, but would he have been able to do that in maybe 2-3 days of post godhood preparation, when you're busy getting ready to siege Vasselheim with a horde of undead?
>>
>>54685583
>only for a weak and barely alive Scanlan to blow his 9th level Counterspell
The problem with a counterspell war is that it favors the original caster. Think of Scanlan saving his level 9 spell, the entire fight, only to have Vecna counter it.
>>
if VM don't bring extra people i don't think they can outpower the amount of save or die that vecna's legendary actions can bring
they need allura or gilmore, someone else who can counterspell
>>

If he were a player of mine, i think that WHAT he wanted to run would be really important in whether or not i'd want it to happen. A cthulu, horror, or intrigue campaign, or even a "war is terrible" campaign, i think he could do pretty well. I don't think standard or heroic fantasy would mesh, and a light hearted campaign would be beyond my expectations of what he could handle/

I fucking hate Critical Roll viewers. They are generally the worst kind of roleplayers, expect the DM to be a master voice actor, and for his improv to compete with a scripted webshow. They also try to turn everything into comedy because they think that that is what D&D is about. Being shallow normo-niggers, they cannot comprehend the idea of someone finding enjoyment in a hobby beyond pure light-hearted fun, and disparage those who do so. Their minds are crushed into a narrow blinder by Matt Mercer. I once went to a friend's house to watch an episode. He is part of my RPG group but I was over there for a different gathering and people hadn't arrived yet. He was taking care of his wife's son and so we were sitting and watching Critical Roll on his TV. It was without a doubt the most mind-numbingly boring shit I've imagined. Not only do the 6 different millennial cunts constantly talk over each other trying to get in their latest funny comment, but the entire set-up is retarded, Mercer's storytelling is bland at best, and his world is entirely boring. Generic fantasy world number 10,203,321 can be fun and interesting, without even that much effort, but Mercer fails even at that. Probably because everything they do has been processed by a team of six-figure marketing specialists who are trying to squeeze as much money from this sad pathetic phenomenon as they can. After a half-hour some other guests arrived and we finally shut it off. We had also watched some YouTube video of RoosterTeeth (some equally autistic wastes for flesh, for those who don't know) where they play some video game where you are a baby on an apartment balcony trying to shit on people on the street below. Scary thing is, when we switched to Critical Roll I didn't notice much of a difference in quality. The level of autistic, mic-frothing laughter was still the same, for one thing.

I don't watch much Critical Role but didn't she jump off a cliff and Wild Shape into a goldfish a few episodes ago, then die horribly and get resurrected like it was nothing? That irritates me. I don't mind people playing 'flawed characters' or ones who don't see themselves as heroic. That's 80% of the PCs I see at my table. What annoys me is when people start treating the game world like it's no longer dangerous or as if stupid, suicidal actions don't have consequences. I feel bad for Matt Mercer; he knows that he can't kill off the PCs permanently and they don't even seem to pretend like they're in mortal danger anymore.

I'm honestly more into Gamma Crawl X as my RPG play podcast of choice. The cast is smaller, there's genuine charisma with nearly no cringe, and the PCs really are in mortal danger. The system is Gamma World 7E so character creation is very quick (and 100% random) and it's been stated that if a PC dies that player will just roll up a new one and join the party. The system is amazing by the way and lets you generate crazy weird characters, for example one of the PCs is an Octopoid Wheeled character and is basically playing C'thuhlu stuck inside a bumper car from a county fair. He rolled an 18 Charisma so he's also the party face. It's hilarious.

Can they ever make the battle map window bigger? Like make the cast a single room on the top and the map/Matt split the bottom? I'm not an ant

>Have any of the PCs died?
Not yet. They're 3 sessions in (about 4 hours 30 minutes of play time) and one of the PCs has already been knocked to 0 HP. Mathematically any time that happens it's about a 10% chance of death (you'd need to roll a 9- on 1d20, no modifiers, 3 times in a row). Gamma World 7E is intentionally lethal by design so it's really just a matter of time.

>Sounds "DAE LE RANDUMB" levels of stupid
Gamma World is the apocalypse by way of Weirdmageddon. In the setting, when the Large Hadron Collider was turned on it caused hundreds of alternate Earths to occupy the same space-time for a few seconds, which merged all of these alternate realities into one our reality. Most of the world was blasted by nukes, or was 'overlayed' with realities where nuclear war had already happened, leaving the planet a jigsaw puzzle of mutants, psychics, weird science, and even alien tech. Real 'humans' are incredibly rare, pretty much everyone is some kind of mutant or robot or psychic, and the PCs are special Alpha Mutants who spontaneously gain new, strange powers drawn from other versions of themselves in other realities.

PCs are generated by rolling twice on a table to determine your Primary and Secondary Origins. They're like mini Classes that give you a small number of passive abilities and powers that you pick up as you level up. You don't choose your Origins, you roll randomly, and making sense of two weird Origins can be half the fun. For example, in my own campaign I had a player roll Rat Swarm and Felinoid, so he played a swarm of kittens that shared a hive mind and ate people alive. Another person was an Android Yeti, and basically ended up being like Gorilla Grod with a mechanical arm.

If none of that interests you, feel free to skip Gamma Crawl X. I quite enjoy it.

>>54689131
>makes a new pal
She barely interacted with him, then burned down everything he owned. Plane Shift doesn't consume components, so the only reason she was afraid was her own incompetence. Have you ever played with an emotional person or character? They tend to get involved in everything. I really don't see what people complain so much. I've genuinely played with worse people. As much as people complain that keyleth doesn't "achieve her best results" when like every player doesn't go for their best results. The idea that they shouldn't go to anymore gods now that Vecna has risen is stupid, now more than ever you need those buffs, and you only need to see Melora for Keyleth, Kord for Grog and let percy pick a fucking god, hell, Bahamut could work with his whole "justice for the family" thing. I agree it was silly to think he'd die (he was a guest and meta wise it was kinda dumb for him to die by plane shifting) but whatever, it's their fantasy game.
>>
>>54689215
>see Melora for Keyleth
That's retarded, Keyleth literally hates the gods and has done from the very beginning.

>Kord for Grog
Good idea. He wants to do it, has tried to take the initiative to get that ball rolling and even knows what plane the need to go to.

>let percy pick a fucking god
That's retarded, he's explicitly stated he's done with gods.
>>
>>54689215
>They tend to get involved in everything
That's called being a spotlight hog. It's a symptom of being That Guy. Sam noticeably was going to let Percy take this one, until it was thrust upon him, Marisha tried to hog the Pelor boon and then claimed the next guest as her emotional baggage.
>>
>>54689253
>it's retarded to gain a benefit from things that are actively vested in helping you and you have literally met

It's retarded that they aren't even considering it.

>>54689265

>Marisha says "fuck it" if nobodies gonna step up I'll just ask
>Pelor double checks cause she's clearly half hearted, but the push is enough to force Vex at least to offer

This is a bad thing? Laura and Talesin were the stupid ones with Pelor. If Marisha was a spotlight hog she'd literally step into every situation whether she could or not. Seriously you need help. At least Keyleth doesn't have that much longer of a run.

There's a lot of pasta's circling around about how Critical Role ruined DnD via casualisation of the playerbase, but I think the real issue going forward is the impact it will have on DM styles. And I'm not necessarily talking about the overloading of player-character relevancy or Nat 20 memes, although those may also become factors. No, I'm focusing on NPC's.
Matt Mercer being the voice actor he is can seed his world with up to a hundred distinct NPC's at a time, some of which have ended up with really high status in the story and cherished personalities. I'm referring especially to Gilmore and Kima, the former a vendor and the latter a rescue mission NPC. But the process of these characters rising in important can and will be missinterpreted by lesser minds as a deliberately designed artifact. Already back in 2015 I was encountering DM's who were honestly convinced that if you make an a-priori declared homosexual superwizard NPC that tries to make "bants" the players HAD to automatically like them.
It's ridiculous of course, and GMPC's aren't new by any means. But due to people not understanding that it requires HUNDREDS of different NPC's out of which the players might spontaneously feel attached to just one, and instead thinking that there's a recipe for likeable NPCs / it is critical to have likeable NPC's, the result will make GMPC's a staple.
Always remind people introduced to DnD and tabletop from Critical Role that the game is ultimately for players, and GMPC's are something that only happens very rarely and only under the players express desire/interest in the character. Normal NPC's should NEVER be designed with the goal in mind that the party will treat them as one of their own, and for hell's sake don't let them be gay just to score affirmative action points.

Tl.Dr. Critical Role condones GMPC's but has internal reasons to do so, always discourage your DM's from trying to do a Matt Mercer NPC style when they can't or the party doesn't want them to.

This is the biggest non-response I have ever seen. Holy shit.
>>
Okay, I know I'm late to the party here, but what is going on with Keyleth trying to find a way to cheat Vax out of his deal with the Raven Queen?

Vax has already cheated death by accepting the Raven Queen's offer and becoming a Revenant. He's accepted that he's quite literally already dead. And that he's been given just enough time to defeat this threat to both the gods and mortals before he finally dies.

But Keyleth now wants to try to get him to cheat undeath, and cheat a god who is trying to help them in their quest.

Something tells me that Marisha really wants to pull a Raishan on the Raven Queen and go after her next once they defeat Vecna.

All because her in-game boyfriend will go from being undead to fully dead once Vecna is gone.

She is utterly oblivious to the fact that Vax has already accepted his fate.

This is why people have problems with Keyleth.
>>
>>54695048
If it was anyone else playing Keyleth, I'd say it's her in denial. As it's Marisha, she probably thinks this is a thing she can try and stop. Keyleth would be a better character if her Wisdom was shit, rather than supposedly the highest in the party. It'd explain her immaturity much better and make Marisha's issues less frustrating.

The truth is that, unlike Travis, Sam, and sometimes Laura, Marisha hasn't managed to adapt to what is technically her first game. This is a problem since Keyleth can be considered a 'main character' so we're constantly stuck with her, and Marisha tends to be the louder voice in the group so we hear her bad ideas and she often makes the negotiations for them. See how she went for the Pelor boon, while Laura had to be all but told by Matt that this is her thing.

Hopefully, in the next game, she rolls a character that's more on the sidelines, has a simpler skill-set/back-story, and plays more to her...'strengths' which is acting quick like a Fighter or Barbarian of some kind. It's the same with Liam whose character's back-story and class lets him act out his edgier side which is also his shit side. Maybe if he has a different character, he'll be better. Talesin sometimes skirts on the edgy side, but he's also consistently funny when he needs to be, and I get the feeling that his fuck-ups are more roleplaying his character's flaws so I can forgive that.

I remember when people had problems with Sam as Scanlan because they thought the constant shitting on places was him being LOL RANDUM, but then we had Taryon and realised that it was more Scanlan than Sam. In an ideal next-game, Travis and Sam can have characters who have more of the spotlight while Liam and Marisha can work on their failings.

Or Marisha just roleplays as Marisha, Liam tries to make his character OP, and both keep trying to meta-game and dominate the party.
>>
>>54695048
It's because she's a hypocrite. There's no complexity there, no underlying meaning. Some people are simply hypocritical, and I choose to believe that the party (not necessarily the players) are either Anakin-tier "love has blinded me" or have given up on the idea that confronting her will change anything.

But you're right. She's intent on multiclassing into necroromancer [sic] at this point.

Not to defend Marisha or Keyleth, but I'm pretty sure in her eyeroll-inducing Q/A that she stated that even though she/her character may desire to bring Vax back, she knows that it's his choice to remain dead, and that she can't do anything about an unwilling soul.

She still sucks tho.

God, I really hope they don't end up doing the Vecna fight at Gen-Con. I cannot think of anything more awful than having the finale of the series be a live show where idiots in the audience are screaming and shouting memes.

Also, I'm probably the minority in this, but the boss encounters in this show are fucking boring to watch. Every time a "big" battle starts, I almost always tab out and leave the video playing in the background while I do other shit. There's nothing really to watch, and I can't imagine what a drag that would be to watch from an audience seat.

Tldr: I'm okay with them dragging shit out slow as molasses if it means no Vecna fight at Gen-Con.
>>
>>54699085
I hope against hope that Vecna will TPK them, or at the very least perma-kill multiple members beyond Vax's obligatory post-Vecna death.

It wont happen, but I'll continue to dream.
>>
>>54699085
I get the feeling that Matt, Geek & Sundry, and even the people behind GenCon itself are all trying to line things up for the finale to be at GenCon.

It's GenCon 50, and Critical Role, one of the most popular D&D livestreams, is in it's end-game storyline.

I'd be absolutely shocked if somehow the Vecna fight **didn't** happen at GenGon.

Vex
Scanlan
Pike

Vax
Keyleth
Grog

Bonus: how they die.

Vax because they kill Vecna, Keyleth because she gets Fingered and chooses to not come back, wanting to be with Vax. Grog dies in a, "if I'm going to get sealed, you're going with me" moment from Vecna once the sealing spell succeeds and gives the lich god a bear hug piledriver into the prison.

Mercer should stop worrying about what other people say. This is HIS game and not theirs. He can fuck off with the rules if he so desires, he's the GM. The people complaining and whining are probably not in a game themselves, they whine to him because they wish they're in CR and it's their game. Matt stopping the flow to check the rules ad verbum so Twitter wont complain is a mistake.

>Some despise the way I play her
I swear to god Marisha I hope somehow you see this one day: it is entirely how you fucking play. You have a Wisdom of 22 but act like it's 0, you're supposedly the leader of your people yet you took a year off to open a bakery and get tattoos.
You don't know what half your spells do, but you're more than willing to argue with Matt over them every week
You try too hard to be this adorkable quirky nerd and it's always cringeworthy, but you can't even be consistent with it as you regularly take it upon yourself to be loud and outspoken when you feel like it, but particularly when it's inconvenient, such as when VM are trying to make a deal with The Clasp to save lives, or when you feel the need to rant about how much you distrust Kima despite her being a paladin while you have a mind flayer in your party.
On a similar note you have a real habit of acting without thinking and then complaining about the results, for example: jumping off a 1000ft cliff despite having to save a gnome from the very same fall in the previous episode because it would be fatal, getting 2 opportunities to save yourself from that fall and wasting them to use a cantrip and turn into something with 1hp, deciding to attack Raishan after the Thordak fight almost leading to a TPK, starting a fire in a forest and being surprised when it spread, the list goes on.
You constantly derail the plot for lectures in morality (funny considering the number of people you've personally harmed with your stupidity). You just can't help yourself when it comes to the spotlight, like when there's a really great guest who's playing a mad gnome but oh look! Keyleth actually understands his insane ramblings perfectly and is very emotionally affected! Percy and Vex are married? Time for Keyleth to be visibly mopey and angry because Vax is gonna die! There's a reason no one fucking responded to you during that, it's because they're tired of your shit and your selfish attitude.
>>

>>
>>54712506
FUCK they bring him back?! I mean
I expected it but that's so shitty for storytelling.
>>
>>54712548
They bring him back, he gets rightly mad at them for bringing his daughter into it, he asks them questions about his personal life and none of them can answer proving that they never really thought about him as anything more than the funny gnome, he leaves and after 15 episodes or so of viewers crying "we want scanlan" he brings him back, says he was all wrong and that it's all his fault, VM has the fucking cheek to be mad at scanlan but eventually it just goes back to like he never exploded on them and quit after they violated his dying wishes
>>
>>54712636
In fairness it was bullshit Vex clocks Scanlan's disguise almost immediately but doesn't say anything, she talks to him outside a tavern alone, Scanlan is about to cast Modify Memory and leave again, but Matt allows Vex to interrupt the spell instead total bullshit.
>>
>>54712680
It was the right time for Scanlan to leave and I can't help but feel as though Tary was prematurely taken out back and shot because of the reaction to his "coming out" to VM in the Tavern.

Quick post theories why Orion left
>>
>>54713576
It's possible that because, like it or not, the game has brought a LOT of new people into our hobby.
>>
>>54713592
Powergaming+crude comments at Marisha+cheating+trying to make his character his own IP+depressive breakdown.

He cried like a little bitch on-stream after they kicked him.
>>
>>54713809
Plus dug addiction. Plus a very poor reaction to his cancer treatments.
>>
>>54713809
I'd bring up screeching at a fan over a shirt, before Travis shut it down, but that probably falls under the breakdown bit.

The only downside to his leaving was that Tiberius had an interesting backstory, compared to Avatar Keyleth and the Little Orphan Elfies. Then again, Orion thought he could summon a fucking army to handle the Briarwoods and ruin Percy's arc completely, so maybe there was some shit Matt saved us from by nuking Draconia.
>>
>>54713908
>screeching at a fan over a shirt, before Travis shut it down
Shit son, is there a video of that? It sounds hilarious.
>>
>>54713908
>he thought he could summon an army
Matt made Daddy draconian shut that idea down, something like "You must prove yourself before you're able to do that shit kiddo"
>>
>>54713970
It was on Twitter. Basically, a fan asked Orion what he thought of a shirt they did with Tiberius on it, Orion screeched and said they were 'de-crittered', the fan said sorry, Travis then said the fan was alright and that the shirt was cool.

Coincidentally, he left later that week. Though it also came after the episode where Orion said Tiberius was at 'half-chub' over Vex making a plan (which Travis was apparently unhappy about), tried to get a Draconian army to invade Whitestone (which Matt shut down), and then spent what must have been an hour shopping for a million mirrors to make a better version of what Talesin tried to have Percy make.

I think he was fudging dice-rolls (instead of saying he got a 1, he said 'I don't hit him') for a while since Marisha had to check them, but the meta-gaming got bad when he tried to hog the spotlight. During the Slayer's Take arc, Vex tried to aim an arrow at a small hole, was close to making it, and then TIberius used telepathy to make it go in, cucking Laura. If Matt let the Draconian Army shit fly, it would have turned Critical Role into Tiberius And Friends.

Again, the character himself had a few interesting turns with his elitist side showing more and showing no regret over murdering an old lady, but Orion just had too much baggage and was being That Guy.
>>
>>54714070
Knew the rest of that, but not the shirt stuff.

What a tool.
>>
>>54714070
>If Matt let the Draconian Army shit fly, it would have turned Critical Role into Tiberius And Friends.

Talesin probably knew it'd never happen, but I would not have been that calm about another player trying to ruin my character's backstory, moment, and the whole adventure like that.
>>
>>54714158
And I'd go as far as to say that the Briarwood story arc was probably the best story arc of the game.

It was where the show went from merely decent, to truly excellent in my opinion.
>>
>>54714158
I'd like to think given the moderate scripting and the character's backstory, Tiberius was obligated to use his political capital and matt was obligated to deny him, I think they all knew the score.

if he didn't try you could ask why someone with Tiberius' connections never volunteered to use them to help a friend.
>>
Man, that cukcs are in an out all attack against Marisha.
>>
>>54714234
It's why I've always put Talesin in the upper echelon of the group.

>>54714269
See, I'd buy that, but it's more when mixing it in with other stuff that Orion did and how he portrayed Tiberius in his web-drama or whatever they're called which is all about Tiberius, Tiberius' family, and how cool Tiberius is.
>>
>>54714334
>It's why I've always put Talesin in the upper echelon of the group.

A sign of a god roleplayer is when you can separate good moments between the character and the player.

One of my favourite Grog moments is when Vex tries to apologise for tricking him about the Deck of Many Cards and he thinks she just got a new one.

Talesin even asks "How is he that good?"

One of my favourite Travis moments is when he resists the urge to murder Orion in the shopping episode for making that joke about Laura, and also for stealing his soul and joy away because he took too long shopping.

I hope Travis picks a character that can take more of a lead in the group. The same with Sam. Grog and Scanlan/Taryon were great, but they were always constricted to being secondary-tier characters. I'd like to see Sam play a Paladin or some other Lawful Good type, or Travis play a character that lets him be the strategist more often.

I'm gunning for Travis to play a Bladelock and for Sam to be a Paladin or a Wizard.

I wouldn't blame him. Marisha was getting tired on his touchy-feely shit too. At one point, she 'as Keyleth' tells Drunk 'Tiberius' to fuck off and Matt is the only other one not laughing besides those two.

>I'm gunning for Travis to play a Bladelock and for Sam to be a Paladin or a Wizard.

>Sam as a Paladin calling out when the group makes a questionable decision, or looking to his God/ess in times of doubt during dramatic moments.

>Sam as a Paladin being an asshole with the Lawful Good alignment for comedic moments.

I'm gunning for Paladin. He's been great as a morally dubious gnomic Bard, but Taryon's shown that he can play naive well and I want to see him be a goody-two-shoes with no strings attached. But I'd be happy with anything, if he can keep the quality up.
