I get the idea of not providing rules for models that don't exist thing, but squatting rifleman dreads in the codex when they literally sell the components to make it (through FW) seems like a giant thumb in the eye.

Finished my Sicarian Ruststalker Princeps, next up is batch painting the entire rest of the squad. They'll have green fabric instead of black because I want to keep the colours rolling, and I imagine they'll be a bit simpler due to no cloak and no four pointy limbs, although the heads might be irritating. Never painted glowy swords before now because I'm still fairly new, this one isn't terrible but the next few will hopefully be better.

Yeah, softer angles are a bitch for thin highlights. Working on it, the cloak edges are considerably better although still slightly wavy in places. I also need to Git Gud at lenses and making the colour transitions on the sword less jarring.

Never seen yellow bloops before, looks good although may need a little THIN or some washes. They're basically skill in pot form, you don't have to do half the fucking about with the legs when you just wash over the spray colour a couple times and then do a drybrush/couple panels in diff. colours.

This is my first mini with my green/orange glows scheme, previously did 20 Skittles, a Dominus and a Dunecrawler in Mars colours who will probably all be stripped and repainted eventually to match, apart from the Dominus because First Model (which in retrospect was a fucking terrible idea, especially as I had not watched Saint Duncan and did not know how to properly THIN).

Need to buy some browns for the Mindscrambler pouches that LITERALLY DO NOTHING unless I want to paint them green as well or something.

Maybe lighter? Zandri Dust/Zameesi Desert drybrush would finish them off quickly, or Mech Standard Grey/Dawnstone.

Thinning paints has always been a weak area for me. I'm an impatient and fast painter so on guys like these where I'm gonna be painting a lot of them I usually just do a minimal amount of water mixed in and then paint.

Sup 40kg, I'm getting my ass hammered by necron as chaos and need some help. 2000 pts.

Necron is bringing:
3x heavy destroyers, 4x destroyers with 1 heavy destroyer, destroyer lord, 10 flayed ones, 5 flayed ones, 10 necron warriors, 1 doomsday ark and two packs of wraiths with transdimensional beamers.

I can handle everything but the wraiths with the lists I've been trying, but it's the combination of the wraiths and flayed ones that gets me every time.

I usually bring some noise marines, some sonic dreadnoughts, a heldrake, some havocs with missile launchers, a flying demon prince and I've been trying combinations of just about everything else in the codex to try to pull out a win with no success so far.

The wraiths are tough to kill because of their 3++ and 3 wounds and their ability to move 12" through walls and cover to come at my units. Generally what happens is that I start trading fire with his dakka, then the wraiths and flayed ones get on my guys and prevent me from shooting/kills my guys with transdimensional beamers and a bunch of melee attacks. If I do get into melee to tie up the vehicle or the destroyers with melee specialists or the helldrake he can fall back and still shoot due to FLY on the destroyers/heavy destroyers, he can tie up most of my dakka with the flayed ones and wraiths, the doomsday ark sits in the corner of the board shooting whatever it can at 72" with quantum shielding, etc.

Not sure what I should try at this point, I'd like to think there's some combo in the material that I'm missing but I'm not sure. I've tried chaos demons, I've tried termie drops, I've tried daemon engines, I've thought about smite spam but think it's too fragile against that shooting though it would be good on the wraiths, I've thought about bringing 3 more heldrakes to try to cause chaos and tie all his stuff up but most of the stuff I want tied up can fall back for free, etc.

TL;DR Any chaos bros have any advice against necron?

I have the opposite problem, I always thin too much and wind up with shitty watery metallics. Normally that's a complete PITA, but has occasionally come out with some cool effects, like on my Dataspike where just a little bit of Warplock Bronze gave it a cool gleam, and the Princeps armour which looks like dull grey metal until the light catches it and it gleams bronze through all the washes.

I'm going to assume that you have a SC box, a box of scourges, and a venom, and because of that I'm going to assume that you're not actually worried about what bits you have. Another SC box will do wonders in the long run. Trueborn with blasters inside the venom is a good start (I've had success with 2 blaster 2 lance). Bloodbrides are actually good with +1S drugs, and T4 wyches are a decent tarpit.

My options for that are stuff like sorcerers/magnus/etc and since the wraiths have 3 wounds each and smite does d3 damage at 18" range (wraiths move 12" and their transdimensional beamers are 12" range) I'm worried about the cost investment of the smite spam vs effectiveness against the wraiths.

My thought process is that if I take a couple/a bunch of sorcs and put them behind some bubble wrap it's going to be a big investment just to deal with wraiths and that investment is going to get shot to death by the destroyers/eaten by flayed ones before or shortly after killing a few wraiths.

What part's confusing you? I have a Notes/Info page with some basic help for how to read the tables, but I'm aware it was hastily done, and fairly early into development.

Basically, each faction page has three tables:
Largest/top-left: Average wounds per turn for a given unit using a given weapon, against one of the test dummies. Attacker stats on the left, names in the middle, average wounds on the right.

Smallest/Top-right: Defensive values for the test-dummies, where you can see the T/Sv/W etc for the targets I use.

Bottom/colorful: Cost-efficiency calculations. Basically the cost of a given unit divided by the average wounds from the top-left table to get a rough measure of how efficient a unit is at dealing damage against a certain target. Lower numbers are better, with a color-scale applied to improve readability.

From a math-hammer perspective, they have a plethora of interesting and efficient options, though a lot of their stuff struggles against vehicles (which you probably already knew), meaning they rely even moreso than other factions on dedicated Anti-Vehicle weaponry to deal with such targets.

You can't really derive exactly how a faction will play just from the numbers, though. I can't give a sweeping "They good, yo". What I have here is really much better at things like "The Daiklave on the Klaivex is a bit questionable, as while Dual-Blades will kill more infantry than the single Klaive, the cost increase is too high for this to be an efficient upgrade, and of course the cost increase doesn't help at all when using the Single-Blade mode, which you'll want to use against pretty much anything past GEQs"

Ok, at first I thought GW gave burnas only D3 because they're the only unit in the game that can take massed flame weapons, so large squads with D6 each would be too much, fair enough.

But now, GW rolls out the Aggressors with 2D6 each (so 6D6 in total) in the smalles squad, with double that if they don't move (which to be fair is easier said than done with 8" range).

......Hopefully burnas will get D6 when the Ork dex comes out? I don't even use them but just knowing GW hamstrung a unit in my faction feels pretty sad.

Two thirds of the terrain are at the table edge, where it's completely useless for anyone who is not a fucking deployment zone camper. I see 4 buildings that could actually block lline o sight and all of these have tons of holes as you mentioned. The problem can be mitigated by placing two half-ruins back to back so you can't snipe through windows that easily.

Either way, on that table, you won't be able to hide squat.

I hear you there. I would be running Inquisition if Crusaders, DCA and Arcos weren't considered Ministorum units.

I'd also run them more often if Acolytes were 1-10 as a unit and had more defensive customization like Carapace armor or Storm Shields. I'd also like to run them more often if Inquisitors were BS and WS2+ and Acolytes were BS and WS3+. Instead the whole army is basically just slightly more customizeable Guardsmen and Guard Commanders who don't have orders or invulnerable saves.

So I opt to run Guard with Ministorum and an Inquisitor or 2 and sometimes some Acolytes with them and that's basically my Inquisition army.

Played a 1,500 AdMech + 1,500 T'au vs 3,000 Guard game last night. We fluffed it as my AdMech were working with the T'au to gain access to an STC or some sort of technology, and the Guard were there to stop the T'au in the first place.
I'm still new to 8th ed., so it went kinda slow, and we only got two full turns in because the store was closing.

Tau/Mech managed to kill the knight, a tank (don't remember which kind) and bring a vulture down to 1 wound remaining, and took out loads of conscripts.
Their Custodes wreaked havoc on the kroot and a squad of Vanguard, while securing and destroying an objective.

Ehhh so far the Battle Tanks have been pretty lack luster in their performance for me. And since we did opposing corners (at his request) my lack of 72" ranged weapons meant I pretty much just advanced and tried firing some lascannons first turn. But the Demolishers were super good. They obliterated everything and when he multi charged them both with his battle wagon they got three sixes for overwatch and pretty much obliterated it all the way down from full health.

I've been thinking of that myself, I'm not sure. Right now I use Witch Elves with their ears cut to look human as DCA and my Crusaders are made from a few Sigmar kits.
