So could I effectively fill 6 slots in a battalion and more in a vanguard detachment with units of 1xExarch/blaster 2xSpectre/rifle costing 78 points for 4 attacks each generating more attacks?

12 units of 3, 936 points across two detachments accompanied by skyrunner warlock/autarch to get spectre up to -2 to hit sounds nasty.

What should I be looking to have in a 2000 point Dark Elder army. At a 1000 points I have 2 kabalite squads in raiders, an archon, flyer and one other wild card. Not sure what I'd want at that point level.

Shotgun scouts are very mobile compared to other loadouts because they can Advance and still fire their shotguns. And the shotguns become Str 5 at 6'', which makes them better than bolters at that range.

They're only T3 with 1W, isn't the best way to run them target saturation? That generates a survivability where a couple units of 10 all get targeted by the opponents army and get murdered.. Assault on Black Reach, mainly because the kits were rather generic, so you could use them as pretty much anything. DV and DI are nice, but DV loyalist part is only good for DA players and DI traitor part is only good for Nurgle CSM players. Primarines and DV CSM were more generic (usable by everyone).

Personally, I plan on using regular Primarines for my Reivers, since they got the same armour save and no real special rules associated with their armour. Just give them the right equipment (pistols and swords), grenades and maybe different heads.

You need the Forgeworld Index book for Imperial Guard. It has the rules for Renegades and Heretics, which is the traitor version of guard. I haven't played with/against them yet, but I hear rules wise they suck now, but if you using them to add some tanks artillery to a larger chaos force i don't see how bad thry can be.

And can fire half shots at 3x the flamers range

Heavy flamers vs heavy bolters is less clear cut math, still working on it

I will probably go flamer spam anyway, for the aesthetic.

Though I'm replacing all my Seraphim hand flamers with inferno pistols - d3 hits just isn't worth it

How are flamers worse than storm bolters? I mean, Storm bolters are Rapid Fire 2, so 4 shots at short range. With BS3+ that means 2.666... hits on average. Flamer is D6 autohits, so on average 3.5 hits on average. Range is, of course, an advantage for the storm bolter.

You don't need to use Forgeworld models if you don't want too, just the rule book. You could easily use regular guard vehicles with chaos vehicle bits added on and the imperial iconography removed/defiled.

Finally picked up the Space Marine shooter and got around to playing it.

Cut a cleft into them using either a hobby knife or clippers. Easy to do, since Necrons are plastic or finecast.

Fill the gaps between the index and middle fingers, and the gaps between the ring and pinky fingers. Leaving the joint gaps unfilled, of course.

Spare bits from your necron sprues, or plasticard, glued to either the shoulderplate or to the spine of the model.

The trickiest part. However, sculpting this with either brown stuff, green stuff or magic sculp shouldn't be that difficult all things considered.

step 1) Create the "spine" onto which you can start adding stuff

step 2) Create the back of the neck, add paneling lines once you've got it ready to set

step 3) After back of the neck is dry, sculpt in the throat area. Make one main tube that runs up towards the lens area. Then vents or cooling coils or what have you next to it on both sides.

step 4) Take a piece of plastic tube, carve it up to look liken L-shaped horseshoe. Carefully carve the paneling you want.

step 5) Sculpt the lens. You can either make it a single lens with a few smallers lens next to it or on the outside of the hood, or do the tri-lens Geth destroyers sported to balling effect.

step 6) Glue the hood on. Wait for it to dry.

step 7) Have fun painting.
